My son has Down syndrome, he has a weak core and poor posture. I have seen a difference in his posture and his walk in 3
Months. They work great with him. He is now also able to stand on one leg. He enjoys his program and getting stronger. I’m very happy with his progress so far.

StoutHeart and I have definitely been on a journey these last couple of years. I started with them for fitness and they exceeded my expectations. When I got sidelined by an injury, and finished physical therapy, they were there to ease me back into the group workouts and make sure I'm keeping good form so that my progress continues. Friendly. Professional. Knowledgeable. I would highly recommend these trainers to anyone.

I began my journey with Stout-Heart back in October, and it has truly transformed my approach to fitness. My initial goal was to get stronger and tone my body, but after years of working out without seeing significant progress, I was feeling stuck.

From the moment I started training with Kayley, I discovered new techniques that I had never learned before. One of the most significant breakthroughs for me has been learning how to control my lower abs. This newfound ability has not only improved my workouts but has also enhanced my overall core strength.

I’ve even achieved milestones that I once thought were impossible—like doing pushups without needing to drop to my knees! My side planks, which used to feel unstable, are now controlled and strong. The progress I’ve made is undeniable, and I credit that to the tailored guidance and support I receive from Kayley and the team.

What stands out the most is how they push me to exceed my limits. Even on days when my mind tells me to give up, their motivation keeps me going. I've noticed significant improvements in both my strength and endurance, enabling me to lift heavier weights with proper form.

Stout-Heart doesn’t just focus on short-term gains; they emphasize building practical strength that will serve you well into the future. If you're considering joining this incredible team and learning from their amazing staff, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take the plunge. You truly have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Five stars is not enough! My wife and I have been training at Stout-Heart Fitness for some time now, and it has been an incredible journey - from a home garage gym when we first joined to their new location, which is a full-fledged professional space with an expanding team of trainers. Their approach, rooted in StrongFit, blends strength training with CrossFit principles, and starts with biometric assessments to track measurable progress. Beyond workouts, they also provide dietary counseling, making it a truly holistic fitness experience.

We’ve had the privilege of working with Josiah, and we couldn’t ask for a better trainer. When we started he primarily worked with neurodivergent individuals. From the outset he brought a welcoming, understanding, and motivational approach to our sessions; Josiah is incredibly kind, personable, patient, and knowledgeable, always bringing the positive, uplifting energy - despite whatever you bring with you to class, by the time you leave you'll be happy you went.

What sets Josiah apart is his emphasis on the mental and emotional aspects of fitness—helping us recognize how our mindset impacts our workouts and how our workouts, in turn, influence our mental state. He genuinely cares about our progress, is excited about our personal records, and is invested in our well-being. We travel frequently for work, and we’re genuinely dreading our next move because we know we’ll never find another trainer quite like Josiah. If you’re looking for a solid gym in the AV, Stout-Heart Fitness is uncontested.

I was in search of a trainer for my son with Autism. I wasn't happy with previous regular trainers who did not know how to track goal progress and write down the data. They did not have the capability and patience to work with a person with a disability. When I heard about Matthew ( Stoutheartfitness ) I didn't hesitate to call him. Matthew listened to my concerns and wants, and we immediately set up an assessment appointment. It's been seven months since my son started training with him, and I am so impressed with his improvement. My son looks forward to his appointments with Matthew. I have seen Matthew's wife also training young ladies with disabilities, and she is so amazing. I recommend them 100%.

Matthew works with my daughter who has severe autism, I want to say that not only he is professional,
But most importantly, to us he is caring, kind, intuitive and flexible to our needs.
And that makes a big difference, especially for a special-needs family.
Thank you, Matthew and Team.

This fitness place is like no other. If you are having difficulty with being run down, not sleeping well, not healing from health issues, trying to lose weight unsuccessfully, the list goes on really - they can help you. They look at the whole person, offer adjustments and encourage you. You will get support and help very differently than you have before. It's an atmosphere of assistance and encouragement at your level. I'm so grateful I found them.

I am Laurel’s husband. Matt was my trainer for more than 2 years. When I first started training with Matt I had a number of medical issues and past injuries. When I first started training with Matt he assured me he wouldn’t hurt me. For the next 2 years plus he planned work outs which encouraged me and helped me physically. Unfortunately I ultimately relocated and had to give up training with Matt. He was the most knowledgeable and professional trainer I ever had and would still be training with him today if it was at all possible.

When I first started going to stout heart fitness, for me, I wanted to get into shape. Sense then, with the help of Matthew, Elspeth, and all the other coaches I've gone farther than my original goal. The classes are small enough that I can easily ask for help if I'm struggling, but big enough that I can enjoy working out in a group. The 1 on 1 personals have helped me in so many ways like rehabbing an injury or giving me the confidence to do exercises that I am unfamiliar with. The community is amazingly welcoming which helped me gain the confidence to work out in a group setting.

The classes here are so amazing and the community is very uplifting as well. When I first talked to Elspeth and Matthew about joining, I felt that they really wanted to help the issues I had of not being as active and strong as I was when I did a lot of sports in high school. I lost my confidence, endurance, and it was nerve racking to take the first step to reach out. It was easily one of the best decisions I've ever made. The community within Stout-Heart is so amazing and they really just took my brother and me in like their family. I learned so much about my body and the mind to muscle connection they teach is life changing. The personal sessions also were a keystone in my fitness journey as they help with issues that I had during the classes. Their small class sizes allows the coaches to talk to you and really help you out. I cannot say enough compliments that they deserve because they made my life a whole lot more enjoyable. My back and knee issues were resolved with their unique exercises, and I'm a lot more confident in my life now. Stout heart and their staff is THE best gym in the AV area!

My experience with Matthew at Stout Heart fitness goes as follows; he was essentially the YouTube video I was looking for. At the time I had two stained rotator cuffs, and had not been able to alleviate the pain and discomfort caused from years of improper weight training, physical labor, and trauma. I noticed improvement immediately from the techniques he implores. This is after seeing physical therapists, other trainers, and carousing YouTube, sifting through hundreds of videos. Now a year later I have not sustained a shoulder injury, and have exceeded my previous limits in every metric when it comes to lifting. I highly recommend!!!

Training with the Stout Heart trainers has been wonderful! I hadn't realized how many daily movements I just avoided doing because they were painful for me (like getting my kids' shoes out from under the bed, or getting the biggest pot out of the bottom cabinet) until I started working with them and suddenly those little tasks were doable and easy again! They can work with anyone at any level of fitness!

Can't say enough good things about this gym. After my pregnancy and c-section I felt lost trying to safely exercise again. Stout-heart helped me become a stronger and more confident person. The coaches listen, motivate, and truly help you connect with your body and target muscles for amazingly effective strength and mental training. They foster a kind and non-judgmental community that truly wants to see each other succeed.

Stout-heart changed my life and helped me achieve my goals of becoming a stronger rock climber post-major surgery. I cannot recommend them enough, especially to any moms craving postpartum physical therapy or anyone else who has felt their ambitions to gain strength or mobility have fallen on deaf ears in the Healthcare system. Whether you are looking to improve your quality of life or just gain a little strength, Stout-heart is the place to do it!

As a serious athlete, I have somewhat of a different perspective. I feel what sets Stout-Heart Fitness apart is that the coaching addresses the improvement of motion and learning about yourself and YOUR body, personally and individually, which you won't get anywhere else. Other gyms and coaches I have had have been focused on the appearance of form, (which I must stress; the APPEARANCE of form rather than the PERFORMANCE or FUNCTION of form, i.e. focusing only on how a rep or motion looks rather than what muscles or groups you are using to complete the motion) and what the supposed "perfect rep" looks like for every man, woman, or child on the face of the planet. This thought process is obviously flawed logic in the most basic of senses. All of us are definitively, undeniably, different and unique, with different builds, heights, proportions, strengths, and innumerable other physical factors that set us apart. Thus, it is crucially important what we learn how to use our own bodies to the fullest and not put ourselves in a faulty, and potentially harmful, mold.

I've had very high level coaching for all kinds of sports, and Stout-Heart beats all of it; in time efficiency, in overall worth, in effectiveness, and in usefulness. For any other serious athletes out there: learning technique is necessary, but if you don't know how to move well in the first place, and how to make those techniques truly effective, that practice is, if not completely wasted, worth exponentially less.

Put simply, this is coaching that promotes athleticism, strength, and injury prevention rather than a singular rigid set of movements, avoiding the dismal common pitfalls of other gyms and sports coaches and/or practices. Its the most worthwhile and valuable coaching I've ever received, and I've paid far, far more for much less.

When I started at stoutheart over two years ago I was dealing with several chronic injuries, back pain and tendinitis in the patellar tendon. I was able to almost completely resolve both issues with expert coaching focusing on my movement patterns and building structural muscle. I am able to enjoy activities that I feared I would no longer be able to do. Stoutheart is a supportive community that makes the gym feel like family. Come join us for a workout

Before I started working out at Stout-Heart my back would go out and limit my mobility on a regular basis. Now that I’ve improved my core strength I can’t remember the last time my back was out! Thanks Stout-Heart!

First of all, I'm not a "gym" person. As a youth, I was involved in sports & have always been active, but felt that gyms weren't for me. One of my teen sons wanted to try out Stout-Heart, so my husband went with him. My husband felt so good after the first couple weeks that he suggested I give the gym a try. I had been having debilitating back pain & he thought the coaches at Stout-Heart could help me. I'm happy to say that he was right!! Much of my back pain was from improper movement, which they were able to help me with by teaching me new movement patterns & strengthening things like my glutes & hammies!
This was 2 years ago. I've stayed w/ Stout-Heart because I love how I feel. It's a safe environment where i can push my limits, both physical & mental. The workouts are challenging & help me to face life's challenges. I'm so glad my family & I are members at Stout-Heart Fitness!

I have had gym memberships to nearly every type of gym out there, but none of them compare to Stout Heart Fitness! I would quickly loose interest in all the other gyms due the impersonal, institutionalized, corporate atmospheres. The environment at Stout Heart is entirely different! The trainers at Stout Heart take the time to first get to know you and then coach you in technique to maximize your training while avoiding injury. The fitness programming is not redundant and you will be encouraged and supported to challenge yourself at whatever level fitness you are at. The small class sizes allows for modification of the workouts to accommodate your personal training needs. The community of members is another aspect that makes Stout Heart truly unique! Everyone is friendly and respectful. We also have lots of fun while challenging ourselves! All ages, levels of fitness and abilities are embraced and welcomed. The last six months have been the best experience and most effective training I have ever received from a gym! I highly recommend Stout Heart Fitness and hope to see you at the next workout!!

In the past, I’ve had a few gym memberships but always felt out of place and intimidated by the equipment, so I stopped going.
My kids encouraged me to try a class with them. I was hesitant for so many reasons;
I was out of shape, I was struggling with a few health issues at the time and my confidence was non existent. However, I agreed because I didn’t want to disappoint my kids. This was the best decision I’ve made for myself! I consistently went and I slowly became stronger and more confident. I began to like the way I felt. The trainers taught me how to properly move while showing me what muscles I’m using. I also learned how important breathing techniques are while working out. Matthew, Elspeth and Kim have made Stout like a second home to me and created a community of like minded people who challenge and encourage each other. They truly care about their members. Stout heart fitness is a safe place you can come workout and not feel judged.

I’m so thankful for Stout Heart! When I first heard about Stout Heart Gym I had a different gym membership but I was mostly working out at home. I would go to the gym occasionally but I was stuck in a rut and feeling unmotivated. A friend of mine helped me get a 10 day pass so that I could try SH and I have been working out there ever since. The small class sizes, one on one interaction with the coaches, personalized training and the SH community all add up to make it a gym that stands out from the rest. Matthew and Elspeth are wonderful and go above and beyond to meet each members needs. They have helped me through several injuries and motivated me on the days that I don’t feel like working out. I would recommend SH to anyone that wants to take their fitness to the next level and be a part of a wonderful gym community.

Being a part of stout heart through the group classes and a few personal sessions has made a very noticeable difference in just how I carry my body, how much more I can do without hurting myself, and how I do everyday tasks. I appreciate the focus on not just building strength but doing it in a way that helps me make sure I’m using the right muscles to prevent injury and be more efficient at any physical tasks I do. I would highly recommend being a part of this gym/community to become more fit and have a healthier body/brain connection in general.

I started at Stout Heart Fitness about 3&1/2 years ago. The coaches focus on building up strength and activating all muscle groups in order to properly and carefully carry out each of the exercises in each of the workouts. Their goal is to strengthen and prevent injuries, or work with present injuries, in order to heal and recover. I have witnessed peoples' confidence build as they gain strength they weren't sure they could achieve. I myself, at 65 years of age, am enjoying a strong and healthy lifestyle due to their skilled coaching and great encouragement to push myself a little further than I ordinarily would.
I highly recommend Stout Heart Fitness!

I highly recommend Stout Heart Fitness. If you’re in the AV and looking for a gym, check them out. I’ve been with them for 3 months now. My biggest take away is strengthening my core which has stopped my constant back spasms from after the birth of my son. Also the focus on muscle tension vs position has helped me recover from old injuries without causing new injuries. This workout program is truly unique & way better than any other gym experience I’ve had in the past.

I have competed in Nica mountain bike racing for four years so far. During that time I learned a lot about how to perform well as an athlete, and I achieved quite a few podiums, including a fifth at State Championships in 2019.

Even though I am constantly around knowledgeable coaches in my bicycle racing, I must say that Stout-Heart Fitness has contributed some of the most valuable insights on how to use my body to its fullest potential.
