I originally reached out to Brian because I had a back injury. After visits to several physical therapists and chiropractors, I still had pain and no answers. It took Brian maybe 30 minutes to figure out my problem and give me a workout plan that would help me recover.
Brian places focus on form, stability, movement patters, and other little things that most people over look. I wish I started working with Brian when I first started getting into the gym. Brian is a wonderful person and trainer. He caters all exercises to your needs, aches, etc. that day or week. He has gotten me back to running by strengthening particular muscles and areas where I was having joint problems. I've been training with Brian for almost 5 years. I have never been able to stay consistent with trainers until I met him. He is a very receptive and has been able to create workouts to fit my fitness goals. He is very knowledgeable and makes sure he is up-to-date on the latest trends in health and fitness. I love his training style and small group sessions. I have met some cool people and along my journey and it's been a blast the whole time. Pre-covid, I used to meet Brain at the ARC at SDSU. Now, we have zoom training sessions with 2 to 3 people on them. He is quick at managing all his clients with a targeted workouts and is able to adjust our form if not correct. At the ARC or on Zoom, Brian as been so perfect for me and my strength training goals!

I work out mostly with Brian - he's amazing. He knows exactly the right amount to push me (I'm lazy lol) but also the right way to support me when I'm feeling less than 100%. He is super knowledgeable about exercise/physiology, so he's quick to adapt a routine that isn't working for you that day. He's also smart, genuine, caring, and funny. I originally sought Brian out for training as a new mom. I had just had my first baby, and wanted to get back into fighting shape and be healthy for my daughter. My husband and I have trained with Brian twice a week for the last four years, and now my senior parents are hooked too. Brian keeps his clients motivated to get stronger, stay active, and develop healthy habits. He is extremely hard working and generous with his time--although he trains in small groups of 3 or 4, instruction is always individualized to each client's needs. And the small group environment lets you meet really fun professionals, students, and seniors you might not otherwise meet. In these challenging COVID-19 times, Brian has switched to zoom training. Using whatever equipment each of us has plus solid body weight exercises, he has figured out a way to make us sweat! I have been working out with Strong Made Simple for the past several years. Both Brian and Anthony are excellent personal trainers. Not to be cliche, but Brian really knows how to "meet me where I'm at." Strong Made Simple has been an incredibly important part of my life for over three years now. When I moved to San Diego for grad school, I was in decent shape but losing motivation to keep healthy quickly. Once I realized I wasn’t doing the best on my own, I looked into getting a trainer and found Brian. He does amazing work giving me the right exercises to keep me in shape as a totally non-flexible runner who’s constantly trying to shed a few pounds. He always knows exactly what I should do and how often I should do it for excellent results. Nonetheless, the best part of the work Brian has done for me is the sheer accountability he provides for me (and ALL of his awesome clients) on a daily basis- helping me actively choose to eat better, get up from my desk and walk more, and on the worst days even just get out of bed! I can’t imagine life without a personal trainer- I think it’s a total necessity. But what makes a personal trainer great is not their own personal strength, appearance, or abilities—(though Brian is certainly the strongest person I know!) What makes them great is the ability to learn about their clients, work with them on a completely individual basis with incredible understanding, and help them to be the best version of themselves even when the going gets tough.

I highly recommend Strong Made Simple to help you achieve any and all of your fitness goals. Brian helped me learn how to squat properly and increase my lower body strength by introducing me to a variety of exercises including the goblet squat, back squat, front squat, and single leg deadlift. Brian is incredibly knowledgeable about the human body and will make you feel comfortable that you're in good and capable hands. His knowledge base is also very diverse in addition to thorough. He is very encouraging, motivating, and very in tune; he knows your limits and will challenge you to work up to them and eventually surpass them as you grow stronger, rather than sell yourself short. I don't think there's any goal too lofty or unique that Strong Made Simple can't help you with.
