Highly recommended!

I’ve been a member for the past seven months, and my experience has been exceptional.

First, the facilities are outstanding—clean, well-equipped, well-maintained, and consistently up to date. The gym is bright, thoughtfully laid out, and spacious, making every session comfortable and efficient.

Second, and most importantly, Will and Kengo provide truly top-tier, personalized coaching. I’m new to strength training, and from my very first day at Strong Sports Gym I’ve received focused, individualized guidance that has helped me refine my technique and build confidence. No matter your experience level, you’re always under their attentive and supportive coaching.

Third, the community here is fantastic. The members are warm, welcoming, and create an environment that’s both inviting and motivating.

Whether you’re just beginning your strength journey or you’re a seasoned lifter looking for a place to continue growing, Strong Sports Gym is the place to be!

I love coming to Strongs Sports Gym! It’s an amazing gym with great facilities and amazing coaches. My husband had been training there for a while and encouraged me to come after I had gotten bored of all of the other ‘workouts’ I had been doing. I was hesitant about joining a boxing gym, I was nervous about my lack of skill and members being annoyed by that. I couldn’t have been more wrong, everyone was so encouraging and took the time to really coach me. That was 8 years ago and I still love boxing, learning new things and improving. Will, Kengo and all the other coaches are truly the best and keep me excited about coming to the gym. Weightlifting here is also really great and now I’m excited about that too. The facilities are clean, the community is amazing and I couldn’t recommend anything more!

The coaching at Will and Kengo’s Strong Sports Gym is exceptional. It’s helpful, motivating, and technical. However, it’s the community aspect and the inclusive vibe, devoid of performative machismo grandstanding, that makes this a place I want to visit daily. It’s an environment that makes you want to work out and get in shape. My posture, strength, and overall health have improved greatly since being here. I am not a gym guy, so if like me you’ve been on the fence about joining a gym, this is the place.

I’ve been training with Willard and the coaches at SSG for years now, and there is no comparison to “normal gyms.” One, the gym is pristine and the space is airy. Two, the community is really wonderful. The gym fosters a really respectful and easy-going atmosphere, and the age range is pretty remarkable—everyone at any level of fitness will feel welcome. Three, the coaches are simply the best. The years of knowledge and expertise in boxing and lifting (and wrestling and conditioning when they become available) are invaluable and you get so much attention and care. Honestly, never thought I would want to lift or box or even hang out at a gym that much, but it’s become such a huge, enriching part of my life. Can’t recommend it enough.

I joined in September, and as someone who has gone to private personal trainers for over 20 years, I found the system here to be elite and top-notch, but very focused and with a greater emphasis on form and heavy lifting than I’ve ever had before. My husband was a former pro tennis player and he loves cycling, I brought him in and he completely liked the data driven approach that really seeks to get improvement and tracks everything for each workout.

If you’re looking for a variety of classes that are more cardio based, this may not be the place for you, although there is a boxing sparring program and some cardio equipment. But this is a way to get the best personal training possible, with an emphasis on truly getting strong and not just improve the look of certain muscles.

I see professional athletes here, people seeking to lift heavy to fight off aging and to get truly strong and build the key muscle muscles needed, and I see people very experienced in lifting that endorse the approach here. It is much more challenging in some ways only because there is extraordinary hyper focus on all of the form so there’s a limitation of any injuries. In addition, it truly is like a private club and you’re given a lot of access so that once I get my form truly down, I will be able to come in on my own.

Will the owner really cares. I pulled a muscle due to bad form on the dead lift which was despite his best to correct beforehand. I would get a text after the workout, the next day, and instead of just having me work through it or take weeks off, he used a separate program for active recovery that works around the injuries so that you stay consistent.

If I have a really busy week at work, I will get a positive text and prompt — seeing when I can come in given my schedule. Many gyms get their monthly fee and are thrilled when you don’t show up— and I’ve belonged to them. He actually wants to see his students make progress and he genuinely loves what he does. It truly shows.

He has great integrity & is incredibly knowledgeable. I like the fact he has an athletic background and not a bodybuilding background. I like a trainer who is training me to get better at my own sport or the things I want to do in life The owner Will was a wrestler and a cyclist & he and his other coaches have trained many MMA athletes and boxers where strength conditioning is key.

In addition, there is the owner’s great expertise in cycling which my husband and I want to take advantage of. There’s also a cycling club.

This isn’t equinox and doesn’t try to be – but the monthly price is a fraction of what one would pay for a great personal trainer 3x week. And I find the training I’ve received to be the best. One thing I like is that training sessions are 90 minutes. This way there’s no rushing. He makes sure you take a few minutes in between so there’s plenty of time to adjust for form and to recover. They also spot those lifting heavy.

The members who belong are great — so it is small and elite with a range of athletes and people seeking to get in the best shape of their lives.

I’m impressed there’s a geriatric program and there are people in their 70s, 80s and 90s who are lifting heavy weights and doing it safely. It gives me hope I’ll be able to carry my own groceries when I’m 90 years old and not suffer some debilitating fall if I stick around for the next 30 years.

There is lots of free parking nearby and there is a parking lot behind which is only $3.
Their evening and morning group sessions, which are essentially semi-private training for a group of 8. To show you the kind of gym it is, if I miss a class I signed up for, I don’t get fined – but I either donate $10 to a youth boxing club or I can bring in a six pack of my favorite drink for the community frig. When I’ve missed a session, I never get shamed or guilted – I get support and encouragement.

When I signed up, I was recommended by a former wrestler and triathlete who felt it would be a good fit for me. He was right.

Joining Will and Kengo at Strong Sports was one of the best decisions I've made. Each member gets individualized guidance and coaching and new members soon begin to notice changes in strength, physique, confidence and sense of well-being. Highly recommend - especially if you are concerned about quality of life through the aging process.

There’s so much to say about this. I just don’t know what to start. Due to extenuating circumstances, I wound up with catastrophic injuries and some debilitating conditions. The kind where you start off with doctors telling you you’re never going to walk again.

I began my journey with strong sports gym, doing rehab with one of their massage therapists, because I have had a long-standing relationship with some of the coaches there and I knew it to be a phenomenal gym. They worked with me through massage therapy, which graduated to physical therapy, which graduated to lifting. Concept was simple: compound lifting to force my body to compensate for the weaknesses it had inherited.

As time went on, my coaches walked me through walking, lifting, and general practicing with patience, persistence, and fortitude. I started not being able to walk, I brought my deadlifts up to 315 pounds and my squats to 280lbs. As you can see from the photos below, I lost a ton of weight, resume my martial arts competitions, and even competed in Romania, and have brought much of my life back to me.
Thank you
Whether weightlifting or boxing, each coach has a keen eye for the details. They use technical training, and tweak even the minus corrections, until your craft bills and your skill becomes more fluid. Nothing but good to say about this gym, it’s coaches, and it’s people.

I have been training with Will consistently for over 4 years, first at the old gym in Chinatown and now in the new location in Pasadena. He coaches and cares about each student, their goals, and physical limitations. I started with Strong Sports because of the superb boxing classes. At most boxing gyms, it’s just about a physical workout - or the real coaching goes to aspiring fighters. Not here. I have learned so much and retrained bad habits. I started lifting several years ago and have gained a lot of strength. Best thing about the gym is the vibe, cool members, chill music and conversation. Plus it is super clean.

This place is awesome!
Since moving more east it’s been hard finding a gym that is specifically strength and that really looks at form. I have been doing more of a cross fit style work out along with just random classes. I needed more of a plan and progress so I joined strong sports and I’m already seeing a major difference in my strength!
