Andrew Swasey has been my personal trainer going on 4 years now and he's been absolutely fantastic to work with! He is professional, knowledgable, dependable, and I’ve been completely satisfied with his services over the years.
Andrew initially trained me at a public gym then transitioned to training with him at my home gym. He’s been attentive to my needs, whether at a public gym or home gym, and continues to expertly provide me with a challenging training program.
Andrew's supportive and motivating style of coaching encourages me to improve my abilities and pushes me beyond what I thought I was capable of.
If I experience a setback, due to illness or injury, Andrew adjusts my workout accordingly so that I can remain physically active while recovering. When I reached out to Andrew at Swasey Fitness, I had stopped my regular exercise and strength training for several months. I needed a plan to get me back on track with my health. Andrew took the time to evaluate my initial abilities and then provided me with a customized plan for my personal, physical needs. I’ve really enjoyed working with Andrew and he is very diligent and focused on his clients needs. From the upfront assessment that sets the stage and expectations he charts out a program based on where you’re at in the fitness journey.

Absolutely killer classes! I typically sit all day due to my desk job, and as a result, I have very tight hips. This leads to random knee pain through the day, especially at the gym. I took a hip mobility class here, and talk about an instant improvement!
My posture improved, and I could do squats without any pain! The best part about what this class that it’s made up of a bunch of smaller exercises I could do during the day to keep my hips open and flexible. I highly recommend checking out Andrew and his team!

I recently had a ICD implanted that required me to limit the use of my left arm for 6 weeks. During that time, of course, some of my muscles started to atrophy. Once I was allowed full use of my arm besides having pain at the site I needed to regain the strength in my arm and shoulder. Andrew worked with me and I am happy to say that I now have complete mobility and no pain. He is very knowledgeable of the body and is able to create a plan to assist his clients in their recovery. I highly recommend Andrew.

I started working with Andrew a couple of months ago after struggling to get back into running shape. I could tell that I needed to improve my strength and flexibility to increase my running mileage but I didn't know where to start. Training with Andrew has helped my hip mobility immensely and I am now able to run much farther than I was before! We are currently working on increasing my upper body strength and mobility for surfing and I am looking forward to getting back in the water soon. Andrew is also very kind and committed to his craft. When I was searching for trainers, I wanted someone focused on holistic health and wellness and not just weight loss. Andrew combines several modalities (massage, weight lifting, balance etc.) into a custom training plan to help get you back to the activities you love. I cannot recommend him enough!

I’ve been working with Andrew for over a year and a half and I honestly couldn’t ask for a better trainer. A huge reason I started my search for a trainer was accountability. I needed someone to hold me accountable to get my workouts in for the week and with Andrew it doesn’t matter how frequently I get to train with him in person, he’ll always check in to make sure I’m on track. Andrew has also helped me become more comfortable in the gym by teaching me the proper ways to use the equipment and execute exercises in order to keep my body safe and prevent injury. He’s consistently checking in and asking if I’m experiencing any pain or have trouble areas of my body from my day to day life to be sure the workouts he’s creating are supporting those issues and helping to eliminate that pain. I am someone who didn’t do any sports when I was young but have spent my 20s and 30s learning about fitness and nutrition and working on being my healthiest self. For me, Andrews training was the missing piece. Mobility is so incredibly important and as I felt myself growing stronger (and older!) I also felt myself growing tighter and more stiff. Additionally, while I knew I needed more protein I was struggling to understand the relationship between protein and fat content and that carbs are NOT the enemy!!! I feel so strong and healthy. Im not calorie counting because … I dont care! I feel so dang good in my body. Andrew helped piece together all the important information connecting nutrition, strength and mobility and cement it into a really solid foundation of health and wellness that I hope to carry with me for as long as I am blessed with this body to live in.

I had a chance to take a group class with Andrew recently and it was a great experience. Totally different than other classes Ive done and I love how centered and balanced it was. We focused a lot in this specific class on breath and mobility but I would love to take strength training with Andrew as well. He is super personable and made everyone at all levels feel comfortable. Highly recommended and the location is pretty awesome to be able to go for a walk on the beach after a nice workout!

Andrew is very personable, explains each movement so You understand the reason for the movement and how to go about it and how it should feel. He's very knowledgeable and make sure that you are in the right positioning and that if you had any questions you could feel comfortable to ask him. I went through a 12 week program with Andrew. My focus was my hips. Sitting around so much during Covid had taken a toll on them. General exercise and stretching was not enough. Through Andrew's program I was able to get my hips back to feeling great and not feeling like I was 100 years old when I got out of bed in the morning. Although my focus was not on weight loss, I did lose 12 pounds and I did not measure my inches, but my clothes show me I have lost inches as well. Andrew's guidance is not of a bulldog, but that of someone who cares for his client and their success. Whatever that success or focus may be. I can't recommend him high enough. JUST DO IT!!

I am a former powerlifter that has paid for the pressure later in life, and Andrew's Saturday morning Kinstretch Mobility Class with focused attention on the hips was incredible. Three days later I am still enjoying the freedom we created in my body. Started coming here for Kinstretch / kinesthetic stretching and would highly recommend it. It really helps with hip and joint mobility and allows me to play an entire soccer match without worrying about injury which is a big deal for me.

I’ve been working with Andrew for over a year now and have seen a huge change in both how I look and feel. I’ve also noticed improvement in other sports and activities that I like to do. I’m a faster hiker, better surfer and all around more capable (and this is coming from someone who was known for her un-coordination and lack of athleticism). Andrew takes the time to listen to your goals and personalizes your workouts to meet those goals. He’s very detail oriented and is focused on safety and injury prevention. He’s constantly tweaking my program to keep things interesting and work every muscle. I’ve tried work out programs in the past through Instagram but have never had much success until now. I also like that his approach is more holistic— he’s very knowledgeable about lifestyle changes and nutrition to help you reach your goals. Highly recommend! It’s worth every penny.

More than just personal training! Working with Andrew is an amazing experience. Before getting started he makes sure to understand your personal goals, he then does a full physical assessment to understand your body, and then creates a custom training program based on that assessment to help you achieve your fitness goals.
I have been an active person my entire life and have worked with all sorts of coaches and I still find myself learning something new about my body, the gym, or mobility every time I see him. Andrew makes sure to educate you on proper techniques and the science behind movements in order to get you to live your best life.

I just finished Andrew's 90 day program and It was a great investment. He helped me set personal training goals which i hit. This is not just a pump iron gym. I have been out of the gym for quite a few years and the transition back into a gym is daunting enough to keep me away from it. Andrew's approach is much more holistic, working with where your body is holding and building from there. We worked on my mobility, some endurance and strength.
I've decided to continue on with Andrew after the program as well as their still is alot of value to be gained.

I've known Andrew for 10+ years, and it's very cool to see him progress as a personal trainer to the point that he operates his own business in such a great location. During last summer, we worked on barbell exercises with a focus on technique and safety. Andrew's clear instruction and coaching really helped me gain confidence that I could lift heavier weights without aggravating old injuries. In the fall, he introduced many new exercises for improving mobility, which further improved my range of motion and my ability to safely lift weights. My parents have been working with Andrew now for years, a while even before Swasey Fitness was established, and all they have are great things to say about him. I'm 19 now and I started working under Andrew and my stepdad a little over a year ago, only to fill in some scheduled spots my mother had to miss. I was hesitant at first, but from only having to fill in two or three workouts, I haven't missed our twice a week workouts since then, save for holidays or vacation. Working out at Swasey Fitness has become part of my weekly routine, and I always look forward to stepping in the gym, even when on leg days where I barely have the strength to step out. Andrew is an amazing personal trainer who cares a lot about his clients, and not only is he knowledgeable in training but also in diet, so he provides all the tools necessary for someone who would really want to make a change in their life and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Another thing to note is he is very flexible and can adapt training or schedule to people's needs and situations with ease, being very easy to communicate and talk to. Though, he isn't limited to training and diet talk specifically, as he can take the personal role in personal trainer if desired. My stepdad and I talk with Andrew all the time about what's going on in our lives, and he'll make sure to remember these details and ask for updates on them or mention them in the future. The topics we discuss can range from anything including sports, current events, food, hobbies, etc. It can be anything, though these topics are what our sessions usually revolve around, and I prefer this any day over listening to music alone while working out. Overall, Andrew's been like an older brother who has taught and guided me that I also aspire to be like one day. Although I have to pause training at Swasey Fitness due to moving away for college, I hope to resume these workouts one day in the future. Thank you Swasey Fitness!

I initially contacted Andrew for personal training back in spring of 2019. As a mom of 4 children with a busy schedule, I needed someone to help keep me on track with my workouts. Working with Andrew over the past year and a half has been great! He is able to design my workouts to my specific needs and is flexible to any changes (or what hurts that day 😀). He has a totally private studio which is amazing in today's situation; wears a mask during the workouts; and cleans in between each client. The studio is located in North Pacific Beach, near Birdrock in La Jolla. As an owner of several companies my schedule is quite full but the most important meeting of the Day is with Andrew.
I have been working with Andrew for 2 years, when we started I was not in my best shape and I was 35 lbs. over my ideal body weight. I also am an avid surfer and would frequently experience lower back pain.
I am happy to say that through Andrew’s customized training I no longer experience lower back pain, I have reached my ideal body weight, and gained significant muscle mass and flexibility. Andrew is very adept at isolating “problem” areas and achieving a complete body workout. I have lost 4 inches in my waist size as well. He is also very helpful with nutritional and dietary tips.

My husband and myself had been working out at a kettle bell gym for the past 2 years and they started a weightlifting program. After beginning the "class" we gradually began to prefer this type of workout. We began to out grow the kettle bell gym and began to look into weightlifting/powerlifting gyms, which lead us to Swasey Fitness. Our initial meeting with him was more then we could have expected, he actually tested us, to see if we would be able to work with him, and he would be able to work with us, what physical limitations we may have and to come up with a plan going forward, set goals and expectations. We have never seen a trainer put something like this together.
We reached out to Andrew and began working with him twice a week for December and January and reduced it to once a week and we eventually invested in a home/garage gym and and see him once a month and he writes us a 3-4 week program.
We've both have seen a difference in our strength and performance. We can't wait to see what we'll achieve in the near future with Andrew's guidance.

I trained with Andrew for almost 9 months back in 2015. Before working with Andrew, I was a former college athlete (water polo) and in very good shape. Shortly after my water polo career, I was in a terrible car accident. I developed low-back problems and became sedentary, gaining a bunch of weight in the process. After going through physical therapy, I wanted to make a change for the better and decided to contact Andrew for personal training. When I initially started with Andrew, he took a lot of time to improve my mobility and flexibility with specific stretching and strength exercises. From there, we slowly progressed back into a full body strength program, which felt like my old strength training program for water polo (squats, dead-lifts, power-cleans, presses, etc.). Andrew helped me get back into the best shape of my life! He kept me accountable, as well as helped me improve my posture, functionality, and overall strength. Although I no longer train with Andrew, I still apply all the different concepts and exercises that he taught me while training with him. I'm a 29 year old male, about 5'8". I generally consider myself to be athletic, but after dislocating my shoulder in a skiiing accident three years ago and attending law school (highly sedentary), I eventually reached the point where I couldn't run, bike, swim, or play violin like I used to without back or shoulder pain, and I gradually gained an extra 30-40 lbs. l started having massage therapy for my shoulder to improve my range of motion, and my therapist recommended I work with a personal trainer to restore mobility to my shoulder, and she recommended Andrew.
After 3 months of working on my shoulder, my pain was gone and my full range of motion was restored. Next, Andrew designed an overall fitness program to help me get back to being able to work out on my own. My back is feeling better than ever, and we are making good progress towards running, biking, and swimming.
In addition to the fitness work, Andrew is knowledgeable about dieting, stretching, nutrition, and kinesiology. He is also an accomplished athlete himself, and is an expert in sports rehab. His speciality seems to be functional training, which is exactly what I need - I want to be healthy as long as possible.
I enjoy my workouts with Andrew because he keeps me focused on where I need to work and forces me to address my physical limitations for consistent progress. He keeps track of my improvements, and coaches me in ways I could not do on my own, even though I have worked with other coaches. Best of all, he is able to come to my home which makes our sessions possible since my work is extremely demanding. Five Stars Andrew!
