Several years ago I suffered an ankle sprain that led to several full and partially torn ligaments and a chipped cartilage. For the past 2 years I have been playing and moving at 70%
Recently, I started going to TBD fitness, and he took a very functional approach, different from other PTs and Orthos I saw who took very conservative approaches.
At the same time, he has also been able to explain to me from both a biomechanical and easy to understand way to help me root cause my issues as well as understand the purpose of each rehab movement
Since then, I have been able to progress through more ranges of motion and handle load I could not before, and have been performing much better at volleyball

Working with TBD Fit has been a game changer compared to my past experiences with physical therapy. They not only pinpoint the root causes of my pain and weaknesses, but also provide clear, actionable guidance for rehab. Unlike others, they challenge me to push beyond recovery and build lasting strength.
Since training with TBD Fit, my strength and mobility have noticeably improved, and I feel more in tune with my body than ever before. What sets them apart is how they curate routines tailored to my exact needs and goals, and even record sessions so I can review them anytime. Unlike traditional rehab or generic group classes, TBD Fit gives me a clear roadmap and the tools to truly take ownership of my progress. I would strongly recommend this for anyone playing sports regularly or eager to just get stronger!

10/10 recommend if you are someone who feels random body pain all the time as you get older!
Working with Iming and TBD.fit has me feeling like Iβm aging in reverse. Iβm a 30 year old who used to play sports in high school and now deals with body pain like lower back aches in the morning or hip/knee/shoulder pain when I workout or play sports that I assumed was a part of getting older. Going to physical therapists, getting massages, and stretching regularly did not provide any long lasting relief. After working with Iming for only one month I already feel better than I have in years. His understanding of biomechanics and his approach to mobility and strengthening across a full range of motion is the solution Iβve been searching for. Not only is my pain gone but my body feels more robust and resilient to injury. I look forward to continuing to work with him on improving my mobility and overall strength!

I've been dealing with back pain on and off for several years due to an old injury impacting my lower back (slipped / desiccated discs). Working with Ming has helped me to address the pain and also improve my fundamental posture and movements for sports performance (pickleball / snowboarding).
I really appreciate that Ming explains the mechanics of each motion so I can fully understand what our exercises are working on and improve my overall body awareness.
10/10 I'm really happy to be working with Ming!

TBD Fit is an excellent program to improve body mobility and respiration. My shoulder pain is gone after a month to follow the program. Follow up guidance by the trainer is friendly, professional and solid. I highly recommend TBD Fit to all age groups even if you live away from the Bay Area π

After fracturing my knee two years ago, finding Ming has been amazing for my recovery and overall fitness journey. What sets him apart is his focus on both rehab and strength training - he doesn't just help with my injury recovery but also works on rebuilding my overall fitness from the ground up.
Unlike other trainers I've worked with, Ming takes time to teach me about my body's mechanics and movement patterns (he literally carries around a dummy hip bone skeleton explaining stuff lol). He helped me understand not just how to recover from my knee injury, but how to prevent future issues through proper form and targeted exercises. His attention to detail in correcting my postures and wrong movement patterns I'd developed over years has been invaluable.
The progress I've made in these two years, both in strength and mobility has exceeded my expectations. When I started, I was focused solely on knee rehabilitation, but Ming's training has transformed my entire approach with fitness. I'm now more aware of my body's capabilities and limitations, and have developed strength I never thought was possible post-injury.
What I like most is Ming's personalized approach, unlike one size fits all, and genuine investment in his clients' progress. He consistently adapts the training program to match my changing needs and goals. If you're looking for a personal trainer who combines technical expertise with a deep understanding of injury rehabilitation and body transformation, Ming is your best choice. His workouts are challenging but enjoyable, and they've become an essential part of my wellness routine.

After 10 years of chronic hip and back pain, there were few modalities I had not yet tried. But one of them was personal training.
Seeing as I was still recovering from a disc herniation, Iming knew that we had to start slow. But he also intuitively understood both how and when to pick up the pace, or slow down. After 9 months with Iming, I have rediscovered what it means to live a "normal" life with minimum pain. My sleep, focus, and energy are at a level I haven't experienced in many years.
Iming is truly spectacular because he brings with him a breadth and depth of knowledge of the human anatomy and mobility, coupled with an intuition and creativity to tailor/invent exercises for the individual, coupled with empathy and an understanding of the psychology of fitness (and pain in my case). He is not just there for you: he is there with you.
I will continue to train with Iming even if/when my chronic pain has been entirely eliminated because my fitness goals extend far beyond baseline mobility and comfort. I want to get back to running, climbing, swimming, playing soccer, and martial arts; and I trust that Iming can get me there.

After an ankle surgery, I was in and out of PT for 3 years. My symptoms would improve, and then heavy use would make my ankle flare up again. Frustrated with this lack of progress, I turned to Ming. Ming showed me how addressing fundamental whole-body biomechanics creates huge differences in how I move and feel; reprogramming how my pelvis moves has made my ankle hurt way less, and also addressed lower back pain that PTs always wanted to treat separately. I cannot recommend strongly enough working with Ming if you've been dissatisfied by other more localized approaches to your body!

Having suffered from chronic back and shoulder pain due to a lifetime of poor posture, I was fortunate to find Ming as my personal trainer. His expertise and guidance have completely transformed my postural issues, eliminating my pain. What sets him apart is his ability to address any pain that arises in my body immediately, providing effective solutions to get me pain-free right away.
In addition, I have hypermobility issues that often led to injuries and discomfort. Ming has shown great adaptability in tailoring his training style to accommodate my condition. Thanks to his careful approach, I have become stronger and fitter every day without experiencing further injuries or pain.
One aspect that truly stands out about Ming is his attention to detail. He takes the time to explain the nuances of each movement, such as which muscles to engage or which part of the foot to focus on during specific exercises. This level of precision and instruction has greatly enhanced my understanding and execution of workouts.
Having visited several physical therapists in the past, I can confidently say that Ming surpasses them all. His knowledge, skill, and commitment to his clients' well-being are unmatched. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking exceptional training that goes beyond traditional physical therapy methods.

I have not written a review previously for anyone; however, I feel compelled to write a few words about TBD fitness, or more specifically Ming, my personal trainer for the last year. Although Ming greets me with a smile and has great things to talk about, he sets about the day with his skills to get me into shape. You see, I am over 70yrs old, out of shape, especially after the covid lock down. Ming gives me time to rest between exercises if I need it, so he does have a heart (although I have accused him of terrible things especially after he changes the positions of certain exercise to make the muscle burn.) π He puts me through a series of 4-5 exercises and repeats them 3 times for maximum benefit. When I am done with the first set we move on to another set. He starts me out with low weights and asks me if they are too light. Sometimes he does not need to ask based on my βgruntsβ. I am getting stronger and I am thankful for the pace that Ming has led me to up to this point. With a guy my age there are bound to be aches and pains, my back to be specific. Ming gives me exercises to help with my aches. He identifies where the pain is located, talks about the activities that will make the pain better, in many ways like a physical therapist. I am grateful for having found this hidden gem of Silicon Valley.

Starting training with Iming after coming off a sprained ankle injury from volleyball. Itβs been a pleasure working with the him for the last 2 years. Even after we were able to rehab my injury I continued working with him because his programs were so valuable. He has been able to help me increase my vertical, keep my knees and ankles healthy, and improve my core strength. As a result Iβm playing play the best volleyball Iβve ever played and doing it all in my 30s.

I have been working with Ming for several years. He has motivated me to maintain a consistent fitness routine week in and week out. He helps me make the most of each session by combining full-body weight lifting, endurance training, and core-strengthening exercises. Ming has helped me address my knee pain with modified exercises to strengthen the muscles in different ways, as well as helped me identify that my ongoing upper back and neck pain was linked to the position of my shoulders, which he helped me adjust during exercises. Ming understands how the exact posture you are in can impact every single exercise and will constantly remind you to be in better form so as not to hurt yourself or to get better muscle building from each rep. In addition to being a great trainer, Ming is a pleasure to be around - he is upbeat, interesting, and fun and is a great conversationalist. I highly recommend working with Ming.

I started working out with Ming to strengthen my knee before a surgery. He has helped me get back to full strength and flexibility much faster than I could have done it on my own or with a typical physical therapist. Heβs very focused on the foundations of movement, and finding the mechanics that need to be changed so that I can avoid reinjury. Itβs a more holistic approach to PT and strength training. Ming manages to be sensitive to how my knee is feeling and conscious of avoiding reinjury, while also pushing me to work a little hard, do a little more than I did the week before. Plus he is so much fun to be around! Recommend!

Iβve been training with Ming 3 times a week for almost three months. I was looking to improve my posture (usual desk-bound worker syndromes) and general strength and fitness, and he's been great so far.
Ming is very detail-oriented and knowledgeable about body biomechanics. Personal trainers I've used previously have focussed on standard exercises and weights and only generally told me what muscles are being worked on. Ming, on the other hand, tailors exercises for your body to target the right muscles without pain. For example, I used to hate push-ups because they would hurt my wrists and shoulders, but with some tweaks from Ming, the pain is gone, and I'm working chest muscles I never knew existed! He's also taught me the basics like running and breathing more efficiently. The various exercises and learning about how muscles, joints and bones interplay have also made the sessions more enjoyable.
He is also very professional. He's on time (or early) and very flexible and responsive to changes in schedule.
I've enjoyed his unique approach to training and highly recommend him to anyone interested in the why of exercise, not just the how.
