After having my daughter enrolled in gymnastics class for about 7 months I decided to take her out due to the boundaries that were set on her and lack of willingness to elevate and evolve her during her gymnastics journey at Adaptive Athlete.

I received a call from one of the coaches at AA and was informed that my daughter was excelling in the class she was in and after multiple coaches assessing her, they thought it would be a great idea to have her go into the next class up which will be with students 1-1.5 years her elder. As a parent, I was ecstatic to hear such news, so i agreed to it.

My daughter’s experience in the new class was tremendous! The two times she attended couldn’t have gone any better.

Until one day we show up and Christina tells us that due to her age she needs to go back to the previous class, and they recommend kids staying in their specific age group. I advised Christina of the phone call I received about her moving onto the next class, she was not only contradicting me, but she disregarded that and stated there’s nothing that can be done. Christina was extremely rude, lacked empathy, and just overall acted with such a pompous attitude.

I ended up enrolling my daughter into another gymnastics class that prioritizes her skill level and not her age. I will never set boundaries on my daughter or prevent her from reaching her maximum potential.
Shame on Adaptive Athlete for hindering my daughter’s growth and preventing her from expanding her horizons! DO BETTER ADAPTIVE ATHLETE!

I’m deeply disheartened by the experience my daughter and I had at this adaptive athlete facility. What began as a sincere attempt to report concerns about staff-led bullying toward my child quickly spiraled into a discriminatory and upsetting ordeal.

When I first reported the incident, I was asked to identify the staff involved. Unfortunately, their names were not posted anywhere—only class times appear on the schedule. Since all the coaches wore their hair up and lacked visible name tags, I had no choice but to describe them by physical identifiers, such as “Hispanic,” “White,” and “Black.” These descriptions were used solely to help differentiate staff members—not as any form of prejudice or disrespect.

I spoke with a supervisor named Ryan, who was empathetic and acknowledged the situation as a learning moment. I appreciated his apology and honesty. However, just one week later, I was denied the simple request of changing my daughter's class schedule. I was told, without explanation, that “the staff thought it best for her to remain in her current class.” I found it troubling and inappropriate for a gymnastics facility to tell a parent what is best for their own child—especially after reporting mistreatment.

Things became even more alarming when I received an email from the business that openly stated racial considerations as part of their reasoning. They implied that my daughter should remain with a coach of her own race and used vague phrases like “for the safety of the staff.” It is incredibly offensive and confusing to suggest a 4-year-old poses a safety risk—especially while ignoring the well-being and emotional safety of the child who had been mistreated.

This response reflects the very definition of racial discrimination: making decisions based on race while ignoring the core issue at hand. They appeared more concerned about the comfort of their staff than about the child who was subjected to a harmful environment. Ironically, I was labeled as discriminatory—by those exhibiting clear bias themselves.

Since then, I have found other gymnastics programs that are more affordable, inclusive, and staffed with caring, professional instructors. In all my years as a parent, I have never experienced anything like this—nor have I ever been accused of racism, especially by individuals perpetuating it.

To other parents: Be aware. There are better, safer, and more respectful options for your children.

Hands down the best gymnastics classes to start your little one in! My daughters have both vastly improved in their gymnastic abilities but also their confidence and determination! Gymnastics classes have quickly become their favorite part of the week and they continually practice their new skills at home in between classes. Every single instructor has been top notch and professional. The facility is very inviting and always very clean and well taken care of. The owner and family are absolute gems and pour their heart and soul into their business. Highly recommend!

One of the most difficult parts of being a parent to a kiddo with autism is finding allies in your community. An ally is someone that understands, supports, and empathizes with your child’s disability. Community allies provide a safe space, free of judgment, for our kiddos to explore and realize their talents and special interests. The Adaptive Athlete is not a community ally.

Adaptive Gymnastics classes consist of a tumble track obstacle course, group stretching, and free play. If your child elopes from the obstacle course activity, instructors do not support parents in helping re-engage their children. If your child happens to cross into a Neurotypical class you will be met with dirty looks or flat out rude and demeaning comments.

It is unclear if the staff has any training or credentials at all. Evidence Based Practices and behavior strategies are not utilized or understood. The staff has no understanding of proprioception and sensory supports for autistic children. This is a tragedy because our children have so few community supports and social resources in our area.

It really pains me to remove my 6-year-old son from this program because he truly loves playing here but I need to protect him from judgment, ignorance, and discrimination. If you are a parent of a child with Autism, beware of the Adaptive Athlete.

When Matthew started attending Adaptive Athlete 1year ago, he was afraid of the treadmill and terrified of the tumble track. Trainer Bianca was so patient and always met him where he was. Today he has mastered both and learning n exercises because her expertise. I highly recommend this facility for anyone with special needs.

I started taking my son to The Adaptive Athlete back when they first opened. I found them through a friend and from the first moment we walked through the door we were blown away.

The gym manager Brittany and owner Linda are the most friendly people you will ever meet. They immediately made my son feel welcome and comfortable being in a gym atmosphere which he was very weary of at first. The coaches are always very professional while instructing and before/after classes.

One of the other things we absolutely love about TAA is the family atmosphere that is promoted there. From the owners, manager, and coaches to the other parents, everyone make you feel comfortable and at home. My son always looks forward to his class days!

Conclusion: I HIGHLY recommend the Adaptive Athlete for any parent looking to find an amazing way for their kids to get some energy out, meet new friends, and also gain some strength and coordination.

I had my daughter’s first birthday here! It was an absolute dream to have a party here, at The Adaptive Athlete! We did a Winter “Onederland” theme and provided the decorations and their amazing staff decorated the party room for us! They also have a package where they provide decorations which is amazing as well. The party included pizza which the staff passed out! The staff just overall takes care of all aspects of the party so parents can relax and the kids can have fun! I would highly recommend The Adaptive Athlete for parties (for any age) and on a regular basis!

This place is amazing for kids and adults alike. I’ve enjoyed the group workouts, Pilates and yoga. Last year I purchased memberships for my 2 & 7yr old nieces because let’s be honest, who needs more stuff in their children’s room? Both girls loved it & said it was the BEST present they ever received🥳
