I've been going to Athletic Body for the last few months or so and keep finding myself going back. I originally found them on ClassPass, as I was looking to add more Strength Training to my exercises. Coach Hoop and Coach Kelly never pushed me once to sign up with them - there is no sales pitch here which I loved! They are incredibly accommodating, nice, and kick your ass in a workout. Highly recommend this gem.

Just did a workout with athletic body and loved it. It combines stretching, cardio and strength training which is what I am looking for. The coach walks the room to make sure your positioning is correct and that is so important so as not to hurt yourself. I will definitely sign up!

What a warm, inviting space and team! I really enjoyed the circuit training that was offered, especially on a day when I couldn’t manage to motivate myself. You can alternate how heavy of weights you want to use because each person has a station stocked with equipment. The music and attentiveness Coach Hoop gave helped push me towards a better workout as well!

Was looking around for a gym and couldn’t be happier that I happened across the incredibly helpful and kind people of Athletic Body. Coach Hoop and Kelly gave me a warm welcome, and a class to get me started - I was only looking for a gym with some weights, but I have to say I was really blown away by the effectiveness of the workout, such that I’m now keen to try and work in a few more sessions with these guys while I’m in town if I can. Would definitely recommend at least trying one of the complimentary classes if you’re looking to give yourself a push, and especially if you’ve been going solo for a while and fancy a bit of company and encouragement and challenge.

Really enjoyed my first workout session with Athletic body! You get your own workstation complete with everything you will need for the session. The gym is very clean and all the equipment is new and looks state of the art. They give you a proper and much needed stretch and cool down before/after the session, and they correct your form and help with the exercises throughout the session. I haven’t been to other classes yet but apparently they switch out the type of exercises you do daily so you get to workout all different parts of your body. Looking forward to going back and trying a few more classes!

Had to pull up to The Athletic Body because of my longtime connection with Coach Hoop — and man, I’m glad I did. He’s always been the fun accountability partner since college. I’ve been twice now, and every time takes me straight back to my athlete days: proper warm-up, real-deal stretches, and then workouts that push you while still being fun.

Coach Kelly gets us warmed up and stretched almost too comfortable to get ready to get this work!!! Coach Hoop steps in, keeps the energy high, the music bumpin’, and the heart rate? SKY HIGH from start to finish. That said… real ones know: the best part might be the cooldown — because it means you survived

I felt legit progress by the end of each session. Plus, the facility is ELITE. Clean setup, stocked with all the nutrition and recovery fuel you need before and after training. Parking’s solid too depending on the time.

Amazing workout with Coach Hoop! There was lots of variety of exercises and equipment to keep it interesting and very up temp. He was there to help with corrections and adjustments on form. It was mostly on for a full hour with a some rests in between exercises. I definitely felt "worked" afterwards and wound up taking a 2 hour nap - but I haven't been to a gym in a long time. I will definitely be going back.

just moved to the area and found this gym within walking distance, already a plus! The coaches were friendly and welcoming. I liked that you have the option to wear a heart rate tracker, they start and end with stretching, each person got their own station, coaches help with setting up equipment throughout the class which changes daily, was easy to follow along and dimmed lights. There are cute motivational sayings throughout the class and they offer early morning and evening classes to accommodate most schedules. I’ll definitely be going back!

Really enjoyed my workout at The Athletic Body. The workout was tough but so rewarding! I’ve been wanting to add more strength training into my routine and I think I found the right place to accomplish that goal! I felt supported by Coach Hoop the entire time. He came by and fixed my form and helped me understand the exercises, as it was my first time doing TRX. I also appreciated the stretching at the beginning and end of class. The class provides a proper cooldown which can sometimes be skipped at other studios. Overall, I had a great full body workout and plan to return soon. Highly recommend!

If you are looking to lose weight and tone up, try The Athletic Body. Seriously.

I found this gym by accident because it's on the top floor of a shopping center. At first, I wasn't sure I was at the right place, but when you walk inside, you'll notice how well-equipped, clean, and modern TAB is. The classes never have more than 12 people, the workouts are always challenging and different, and you get personal coaching on your form and fitness goals. Between Coach Hoop and Kelly - it's like having one-on-one training and nutrition coaching. In my first two months at TAB I lost ten pounds and gained definition in my arms and legs (I even have the beginning of baby abs!)

Try TAB and you'll never settle for a boring ineffective gym routine again.

7/16 This is a follow up review to the one below. I’ve now been attending classes about 2-3 x week consistently for the last 3 months. This is by far the best studio I’ve been to in LA and I’ve been to a lot. Coach Hoop is awesome, knowledgeable & wants you to succeed. He really makes an effort to adapt any exercise if you’re injured. This place is results driven, meaning you progress in a safe, injury free way. Coach Kelly is always there to greet you with an effective & much needed warm up! Highly recommend for anyone looking for more functional training in a community like setting.

I took the Sunday 9AM class with Coach Hoops. It was both challenging AND effective. I find a lot of group fitness classes to be focused on “how hard you can work” without actually showing people how to do the moves properly or poorly combined circuits. I felt I got a full body workout where I left feeling good! I was given modifications as needed given I’m just coming back from an injury. We were also given the appropriate amount of time to warm up AND cool down (which I will argue are just as important as the workout itself). I will be back to check out what another workout looks like.

The Athletic Body is hands down the best studio in LA. Coach Hoop and Coach Kelly are the dream team. The classes are challenging but so so rewarding. I feel stronger and empowered. It’s truly addicting I can’t stop going to classes haha. It’s personal training in a group setting so you get the personal touch but it doesn’t break the bank. I go 4x a week and feel awesome. I’m so happy I found this studio! It’s exactly what I was looking for in finding a more high intensity workout than Pilates. I burn double the amount of calories in the same amount of time and Coach Hoops and Coach Kelly make an hour of working out go by so fast. Not to mention they have a great workout playlist. 8am workouts are a lot more bearable with E40 playing! Theres also a lot of great equipment provided like red, weights, stationary bike and resistance bands. It’s really cool personal training experience in a class setting and it definitely helps me stay focused to get the most out of my workout versus being at the gym alone.

I really enjoyed The Athletic Body! I saw a posting about it on Instagram and reached out for more info. I spoke with Coach Kelly. I must say she’s absolutely great! She’s been so kind and patient with me, as I had to start later than I wanted to due to finance. Kelly told me she would check back in with me at a later date and she did. She invited me out try a class and see how I like it. The class was amazing! As someone who has physical limitations, I was able to move at my pace. The coach that taught that class immediately came over to greet me and check in about my limitations. Everyone in the class was welcoming and kind. I did not feel judged for having to move slower than others. To top it off, the workout was intense, but I felt amazing afterwards and I definitely still felt it the next day. Kelly also took time to talk with me about my goals and options for changing my diet. I’m very excited to continue with this fitness group. It can be hard to make that change, especially when you don’t have a community around you. I feel at the athletic body I’m not only going to see results, but I’m also going to have the community that cares and will help keep me accountable.

Coaches Mike Hoop & Kelly Cohen and their care seem to pull the best efforts from me and I can really see the positive improvements in health & mind, month after month. In fact, year after year. The athletic body is very open and friendly. The class structure is great and fits quite well towards my schedule after work. It doesn't really matter if you're a beginner or advanced in lifting since it's a mix of weighted and body weight exercises. Weights can be adjustable to suit your level. What's really nice is that there's ample space for a good amount of clients with structured exercises that is easy enough to follow plus help for adjustment or when needed. In the end you'll get a good burn from the exercises as it'll probably challenge different muscles with their balance work, weights, speed/conditioning, and trx.

I’ve done 2 classes with Coach Hoop, it was great! I love that it’s an intimate group setting but you still have an individual station. Coach Kelly was also so pleasant and easy to talk to with any questions about the workout or class options.

I’ve done CrossFit prior to the pandemic and enjoyed it, but this was a great atmosphere to come back to working out post pandemic.

Coach Hoop is hands down the best coach I’ve ever worked with. He listens to understand your goals and then works hard to help you achieve them. I love The Athletic Body studio. Coach Hoop is a really hands-on and great trainer. He creates a different routine for every class and he instructs you, very clearly what you should be doing. During each section he checks in with you to see how you’re doing and to motivate you and make sure that you’re doing the exercise properly. The other day as I was doing a routine, he noticed that I was straining my back just by looking at me. I was. He was correct, and he corrected my form so that I could get the proper work out and not hurt my back. The classes are very challenging and awesome. I am so happy I found my workout place! After having my baby I hadn't worked out in a couple years and was looking for a full body workout in a fun, uplifting atmosphere. The Athletic Body is exactly what I was looking for! The classes are intimate so it feel like you have a personal trainer. Coach Hoop comes by and corrects your form as needed and gives great encouragement. There is plenty of time to warm up and stretch and he eases into the workout. The sets and reps are totally doable but you will feel it the next day. He has so much specialized equipment and the place is pristine. The music is pumping and you wear a heartrate monitor that tracks your stats while you exercise. Parking is easy too. Highly recommend TAB!
