First time training here and it was the perfect hour HIIT type class. Alex, the owner, was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and encouraging throughout the class. The exercises were challenging, but accessible to all levels. The music was fire. Perfect sized facility for group classes and clean/organized space.

Best gym in Oakland, hands down. I've been at it 3 months and just wore a bikini for the first time in 7 years last weekend and I've never felt stronger.
The trainers are awesome: they are prepared, organized, enthusiastic and so helpful for a newbie like me. Each day of the week has the same class at different times, weights and machines all set up and ready when you walk in. Time flies and its FUN (And that's saying a lot since I am usually NOT a class person.) Sign up for this gym! You won't regret it!

I had the absolute best experience at The Combine in Oakland! I was visiting the area for 3 weeks and felt instantly at home, they have a great community vibe! The gym itself is well equipped, the workouts were consistently challenging and well-structured. Coaches Ashley and Alex are incredible: tough but motivating, and always ready to offer adjustments to help you push yourself safely. The energy, the people, and the music (seriously, the music!) made every session something to look forward to. I’m so grateful I could keep up my training while away from home, and I can’t wait to come back!

I've really enjoyed my classes at the Combine, they change daily and depending on the day has different focuses, so each class feels very dynamic. Ashley is an amazing coach with great energy and motivation, and will push you in a challenging but achievable way. She's got great knowledge not just of the exercises but overall programming. She's def one of the best coaches I've taken.

Best gym in Oakland is right! Love spending a few of my mornings a week with this crew 💪🏽 The trainers are amazing, the workouts are never the same and they focus on form and increasing strength. I never feel like I can't do something or I want to quit, just that I'm getting better and stronger every time I walk through the door. LOVE IT HERE!

Apologies, for the prior review that I wrote while at a Bingo Loco game that did not do any justice to community and space at The Combine. First and foremost, I want to congratulate coach Alex and her team for making this a safe and caring environment for this gym rat. Whether I was at high or low point in my life the team at combine remind me to not give up on myself that what I call invisible acts of empowerment! The workouts are tough and I know it’s not easy managing a gym full of people. I also want to add that even though our gym is not a mega gym, the team make the best out of the space. Keep up the good work, the best gym in the East Bay ❤️❤️!!

I love the variety of workouts. The workouts can be challenging but always room for modifications. Music is always great!!!! If you are sensitive to noise you may want to bring something ear plugs but it’s a great time with an awesome community of folks! They offer other types of classes in addition to their core programming as well that I love to take advantage of as a member. Would highly recommend!

I absolutely love this place. Imani is one of the best fitness instructors I’ve ever had. She brings the upbeat energy and positivity while also providing direction on form. I’ve never experienced such an attentive instructor who is able to provide so much 1 on 1 coaching in a group setting. She is absolutely amazing. The classes themselves are also great, a good variety of exercises, equipment and challenge…and always room to modify where needed.

I am loving how fit I've been feeling inside and outside of the gym since coming to the Combine. I've noticed that once heavy things are feeling a lot lighter and I'm excited to continue to see my progression. Their training programing offers a great mixture of strength, cardio, and endurance and the workouts build on each other. I love having access to a variety of weights (including heavy) and fun equipment (ski pulls, sleds, ropes, box jumps, kettlebells, barbells, TRX, pullup bar, treadmill, bike). The class times are also awesome with my schedule and I like working out Sunday-Tuesay, and Thursday-Friday, with Saturday and Wednesday off, which I can do since they are open 7/days a week. Being open and offering so many classes clearly takes a lot of work from their dedicated staff. You will push yourself but it's a lot of fun and the 45 minutes goes fast!

The Combine is the best gym in Oakland! No matter where you are on your fitness journey (total beginner - super fit athlete), Alex and team will help you improve your mobility, strength, balance, and endurance. Classes are quick but efficient and coaches are knowledgeable, welcoming, and fun! Alex has done an awesome job creating an inclusive environment for anyone to come and get a challenging and impactful workout in a safe and welcoming space. Music is on point as well. These are my favorite workout classes in Oakland. I leave every class with zero gas left in the tank! The trainers are kind, encouraging, and they always bring the energy. Mind, Body, Spirit The Combine always gets me right. The work outs are different everyday, and the staff and people give you the support you need to get after it! I love it because i no longer have to think about what im going to do for exercise. Whether strength training or cardio, i just show up, do what the trainers tell me, jam out to great music, and leave feeling awesome.

I first joined The Combine (formerly an F45) in January 2023 and I've stuck with it since. I keep coming back because the workouts are challenging, the music is better than any other gym I’ve been to (dj sets every other Saturday are 🔥), the coaches support yet also push you, and most importantly, I've stayed for the community!! I've brought friends here and I've even made friends here — it's truly a special place. The workouts are switched up every day and Alex, the owner of the studio, keeps us on our toes through the different phases that change every few weeks. The level of strength and conditioning I've gained from being consistent with this gym is noticeable and I've really felt the best I've been both physically and mentally. Try a week here, you’ll find out quickly that there’s no gym and community like it 🖤

As a former (read: washed up) varsity athlete, it's been so hard to replicate the energy and excitement I used to have for strength training and working out -- until I found The Combine. Love The Combine! We’re in the morning crew and really enjoy the classes with Alex, Imani and Ashley. We’ve been going for almost a year now and have tried group exercise classes at other gyms but liked The Combine the best. Great vibe in the gym, very friendly and welcoming plus the work outs are always different and have a good mix of strength, cardio and agility. And did I mention the music?! Alex and the Combine crew were meant to be trainers! They are always there to challenge and encourage you no matter what and give it their all. The community is like no other and it’s nice to be part of the collective especially when you’re getting your butt kicked. The music - don’t even get me started (10/10). I used to go to a reg gym but have found the challenging push of trainers and a great community have made working out easier and fun!

Hands down, one of the best gyms I’ve ever been to! For years, it’s always been easy to motivate myself to work out and stay active. But as life went on with drastic life changes, daily hectic schedules, and a growing lack of motivation, it suddenly became a battle to go to the gym. But, ever since I joined The Combine, it removed all the barriers that made it hard for me to consistently stay active.
The staff is great, they push you to your limits and they’re very supportive of everyone. Plus, the workouts aren’t not too long, but you get the workout you need under an hour. So it’s easy to fit it into your schedule. There’s variety, and they always change, so it’s always something new! Also, they play music & occasionally DJ for the Saturday classes.
I get that sometimes going to the gym can feel intimidating, but I don’t feel that way at all at The Combine. I really appreciate how diverse The Combine community is, and it’s a female-black owned business. I recommend trying it out! it’s even more fun with friends! The classes are challenging, but I guarantee you’ll always feel more mentally and physically stronger after every class :)

The Combine never fails to amaze me with how consistently it raises the bar with its world-class programming. They're always pushing our community and keeping us on our toes! Joining this gym seriously propelled my fitness journey, especially after getting off track during the pandemic. The coaches bring fun and passion, teach proper form, and push us physically and mentally. The music is awesome too. I came for the workout but stayed for the community! It's super diverse and welcoming. I’ve always been intimidated by group fitness classes, but this gym has totally changed my perspective. I don’t see myself turning back! The Combine is the best boutique gym/fitness studio in Oakland. Period! The workouts are challenging, motivating and Alex (the owner/head trainer) is constantly developing new programming to keep members on our toes and also push our fitness to the next level. All of the trainers are extremely knowledgeable and ensure you maintain good form throughout the entirety of the workout. I’ve been a member of the Combine since it opened and can honestly say I’m in the best shape of my life!
The Combine is also so much more than a gym but an amazing community. It really feels like a family as most of us come daily/have similar schedules and the trainers celebrate their members accomplishments both inside and outside of the gym! Everyone is encouraging, friendly and there to have a great time.

The Combine has become my favorite way to start the day - 7 AM workouts for the win! The community my brother and I have found here is not only kind & supportive, but truly inspiring (smiles and laughter are infectious here). This place is great! My fiance and I tried out many different gyms and fitness classes in the area, but this is the one we kept coming back to (and ultimately decided to join as members). All of the trainers here are so friendly and welcoming, and they are great at giving corrections and motivating the class during each session. The workouts are definitely challenging but I love being able to get it done in 45 mins and feel like I'm making progress. Love to support an independent local business as well! (also the music is great).
