I started going to Compound Lifting Club recently after YEARS of not stepping foot in a gym, and honestly…this place brought me back to life. The vibe is unreal, good energy, good people, and the music is always on point. It’s the kind of place where you walk in feeling nervous and walk out feeling like you actually know what you’re doing. I needed some help with a movement and people would be down to assist.

The equipment is super clean and well-maintained, and I’ve never had to wait around too long for anything because there’s plenty of everything. Sauna is also a HUGE plus post workout! The staff is amazing. Chill, welcoming, and always down to help without making you feel stupid for asking questions you should probably know the answer to 😂

And the dogs. THE DOGS. Huge bonus walking into the gym and they’re just there waiting to greet you!

If you’ve been out of the gym game for a while like me and need a place with good vibes, strong community energy, and zero intimidation - this is it. Worth every penny for the environment alone.

I’ve been a member of the compound for 6 months now, I’m fairly new to the lifting game, however, everyone is incredibly supportive no matter what weight you’re putting up. The community here is immaculate and the lighting is phenomenal! I’ve seen many reviews about the gym being very influencer heavy and while that is true, nobody (in my experience) has been a nuisance. I have also seen a separate review claiming NOBODY here actually works out, which I can confidently debunk! Most people here are putting up insane numbers and you can’t get there by not working out. If you’re a committed lifter I highly recommend this gym since many people here have the knowledge you need to grow, regardless of your lifting experience.

I've been attending here for about a year now, my experience has been great and I highly recommend this gym!

The facility is well maintained and always clean. Ample options in gym equipment from free weights, machines, and cardio complemented with an open space concept that doesn't give the congested feeling typically found in public chain gyms. When equipment breaks down (which rarely happens), the staff is quick to address it. Gym staff have always been professional, courteous, and accommodating whenever I raised any concerns.

It is a private gym so it is a bit more on the expensive side in comparison to chain gyms but the gym never gets crowded to the point where I’m spending more time waiting on equipment and losing momentum in my workouts as I did with public chain gyms.

Depending on the time you are going, parking availability can be a bit of a drawback due to the limited lot size but more often than not, I find a spot within a few minutes.

I started coming to this gym back in November 2022 (as someone who is fairly new to the gym and is extremely nervous) I felt very welcomed by the staff and I’ve never had an issue with any other members at all! It is a good gym if you want to get a good workout in & film content.

The equipment was exceptionally maintained and diverse. The gym itself is very clean and had a great atmosphere. The only thing that was annoying were people constantly taking videos and pictures and setting up their cameras without any regard of others privacy. Also, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom stall, lol. Other than that, it’s a great gym.

It’s been about a week since I started coming here (during the slow hours) and I’ve been met with nothing but good vibes and a welcoming community for those who want to capture some workout memories with their dog 😂

I love the variety of equipment that they keep clean and well maintained. I’ve never really had to wait for anything mainly because there are multiples of popular machines. As a veteran, it’s $85 for me and very well worth the price of the vibes here.

As for the “influencer” part of the gym, it is very much so that but honestly they are very low key and not obnoxious at all …as far as my experience goes.

Good equipment, and the gym is clean and well kept.
However, if you’re trying to get a real workout in, this gym isn’t for you.
Aside from the cost restrictiveness (memberships and even day passes are far too expensive considering that there are not even any included amenities, and the heat/AC isn’t running half the time), I’m not sure anyone is actually here to train so much as look good and post content on social media.
It caters to social media influencers so there is a lot of filming going on at any given time and if you want to just get in and get it done, you will be the odd one out.

There’s probably very few people under 30 in here and close to no one working out for the simple sake of health and well-being.

If you plan on going to the gym to be seen, this place is for you.
Otherwise, there’s Grinder down the street or even the YMCA very close as well.

A true lifter's gym. Pretty much every piece of equipment you need to build up your body is here. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have this super cool French Bulldog named Rambo that happily roams around the gym.

Giving four star. Would be 5 except for the fact that the parking lot is a bit small. There were a few times that I had to leave because I couldnt find parking. Those days are really bummers. But its only happened a few times. Also, in my opinion, the music they play is a bit too loud. I dont mind the music but sometimes I like to listen to my own playlist and with ear buds, the gym's music completely overwhelms my own music. I tried my Over the Ear headphones and those worked fine.

Gorgeous gym that has everything you need. The front desk guy is a gem. However, I wish I had known it was a “content gym.” It can be incredibly frustrating to navigate camera set ups and next to impossible if you don’t want to be in someone’s shot. 😅 I have had a few annoying experiences, such as people asking to work in and then changing the handle and taking a few shots and walking away, or asking to switch machines because one had better lighting. You also need to be aware it’s SLAMMED pretty much all day except 8-10, and you may need to adapt your program if you go outside those hours, but it’s well priced and a great place for early 20s fitness influences to be with their peers. It’s a huge culture shock for anyone raised in an old school gym environment— if you’re looking to just “get in and get out”, I would suggest Grinder down the street which has far more equipment, but lacks an Insta aesthetic.

My girlfriend and I were vacationing in San Diego, and a friend recommended Th Compound Lifting club. I am so glad he did. We had planned on going to a few different gyms but fell in love with this one.

First and foremost the staff is incredible! Very knowledgeable and friendly, recommending machines and equipment I had never used before. It seems like everyone really enjoys working there.

The equipment is top notch. A lot of Panatta, and Arsenal, and plenty of weight.

To top it off this was probably the cleanest gym I’ve ever seen, and the posing room is pretty sick too. Wish I could give them 10 stars.

Marshall was super friendly and welcoming. He explained the equipment and suggested some new machines that were top tier - and even gave some killer dinner recommendations post lift.

If you don’t mind having influencers setting up cameras, this gym is perfect. The weight/machines are always so well organized and maintained. There is a pretty good flow and with weight redundancy, you rarely have to wait for equipment. There is a lot of love put into this gym.

This gym is the BEST gym in San Diego. It offers equipment and an environment that welcomes and motivates every walk of life. If you visit on a day that the owners are present, they will give you a tour and explain the journey and reasoning behind their Iron Masterpiece. By the end of your tour/workout, if you haven't fallen in love with the energy and pump you just got, you will for sure get some love from Rambo their frenchie. :)

Came out to San Diego for a conference and this was the closest gym by me. Compound was amazing both in quality and service. Not only that, everyone in there was cool so the environment was awesome. The only thing I wish was that there was kilo plates and made it easier to find the plates I needed. However, everything was so good and new that they deserved a 5* and I already know ill be back next time I'm visiting.

Also the gym puppy there was awesome so that was a plus as well.

The equipment is great! tons of variety and racks/platforms. Lots of space as well. However, the cleaning tools are subpar at best. There are just a few rags for the entire gym for everyone to share to clean machines after usage. For the price tag of membership compared to other gyms with a similar price- I think the wipes need to be worked on especially as the gym gains more members. Still a great environment with a great vibe.

Atmosphere is extremely goal oriented and motivating for any athlete and the equipment is A1. Its a WIN when you can find everything you need and more in one place. Only had a chance to communicate with 1 of the owners but he was a joy and I enjoy speaking with him.

Such an amazing facility and the operators were so welcoming and friendly! They showed us around, introduced us to fellow members and even checked in on us multiple times to make sure we knew where everything was.
