Love this place! I really appreciate the small class size which means you have plenty of space to work out vs those big chain gyms where you often feel crammed into a class like sardines. Small classes also means the trainer pays great attention to each person, making sure they have the correct form and are really challenging themselves to get the most out of the workout. The coaches are all super friendly, down-to-earth people who genuinely care about your health goals and journey. And, I cannot overemphasize this last point enough, it is SO CLEAN! A gym that is actually clean and doesn't smell is *amazing*. Love coming here, definitely recommend it for anyone interested in HIIT classes and/or personal training!

Looking for a workout space - this is it! The coaches are so knowledgeable and can make all the workouts work for you!! Need modifications due to injury, ability, or just plain preference? They can do it. You will get stronger and discover muscles you didn't know you had. Plus it is a fun environment with great music.

Just started at Field Fitness a few months ago and have been loving the variety of challenging workouts. They also just opened a new class called The Groove Lab, their hip-hop dance class taught by Coach Anna and I’ll have to admit it’s been hella fun!
I’m not an experienced dancer but it’s been fun learning new routines and performing with my field teammates. There’s no ego, everyone is super helpful when learning and breaking down the moves. Even Coach Josh gets in on the fun and shows us his impressive moves.
You all have to come and check out this class (and Josh’s dancing) when they offer it. If you’re on the fence, try their FREE trial to get a feel of their classes and coaches- all who have been amazing.

Just took my first hiphop class with Anna. I did not expect I would catch up with the beat. But she is so good at teaching and I really enjoy the music and move. It is super fun to do it with the rest of the class.

I visited the gym for the first time this week, I really love the small class setting and how effective the exercise was. Josh was a great teacher and he can cater the weight to your personal need and also can correct you on the spot.
Even the relaxation on the foam in the end helped me to discover how stiff my muscles are and taught me something new tricks of using it.
I would highly recommend the gym to anyone in the area.

Has been to field fitness since Sep 2022. It is definitely my best investment in 2022. (Unlimited member here)
Here is the few accomplishments:
1. Fix my rounding back
2. My Tenosynovitis get much better with the training here
3. My shoulder imbalance get much better after half year training
Josh, Justin and Sabrina are very patient trainers and give very professional suggestion. Especially on guiding me to resolve previous issues. They have physical therapy degrees that is why their suggestions are much helpful.
Will definitely recommend you give it a try(with their 1 free week program).

I’ve been coming to the Field for about a year now and I have nothing but good things to say. The instructors are well informed and very meticulous about form. The space is well maintained and has equipment for everyone. The community is fun and inspiring and I’ve made so many friends here! I had a great class today with Josh. We were only 10 people each with our own space and equipment. The exercises were fun and challenging but Josh was an expert at adapting the exercises to different levels of fitness. These guys know what they are doing, and will help you reach your fitness goals safely and injury free! Whether you're looking to get started on your fitness journey, or you are an experienced fitness aficionado looking to take your performance to the next level, this place is for you! I work as a sports and orthopedic physical therapist and I will happily recommend this place to anyone who asks!

Field Fitness keeps it fresh and fun :) . The workouts rotate among six variations to cover all muscle groups by the end of the week, but each week, the guys have a different rotation, and different variations on the exercises, keeping things interesting and challenging. I've never felt like a workout was too "easy." I also love a routine, though, and the ability to sign up for the classes for the week knowing the class sizes will never be too big and there will always be personal attention, is great for me. I see the same folks in the morning, which starts my day off right, and some of the classes have gotten so close they hang out outside of class.
I became a member, however, because the coaches are highly trained/educated in kinesiology and keep themselves up to date in their training. I usually get some kind of injury when I work out hard, and I've never had one here. They also track progress toward goals that they help members set (health and fitness goals), which has helped me immensely.
So here are some bullet points about The Field Fitness, in case you're a bullet point type:
- fast paced
- thorough workout
- great energy/good community of people
- creative/challenging workouts
- CLEAN space and equipment
- never crowded/always personal attention
- easy/clean bathrooms for changing (no showers)
- pretty easy parking
- great place to bring a first timer or guest (coaches are great about modifying workouts if necessary)
- fun competitions and contests to join when you're a member
- tracking and accountability for fitness and health goals
- plenty of learning opportunity about fitness and health
- mostly a light-hearted good time :)

Finding this gym 3 months ago is the best decision I made during the pandemic. Within 1 week, I’m already on the monthly unlimited plan.
Coach Justin and Coach Josh are really fantastic people. They know their stuff, always have classes planned, and have built up an amazing community that I draw support from.
Each class is limited to 8 people, each person having their own station always ready with dumbbells, TRX, resistance bands, BOSU ball, kettlebells, mat, and many more. We always have warmup and cool-down stretch. And your fellow peeps are great people, always mask on inside and without prompting, we always wipe down our equipment after use.

I am surprised with the quality of training they have, I been practicing for 18 years and tried many gyms in the bay area. However, I haven’t seen a single gym in the bay area that cares about you as much as this gym. Josh is incredibly amazing, friendly and knows very well all the techniques he teaches you.
I tried at least 10 gyms in the bay area and none i felt I was actually getting any improvement with the practice due to the lack of either experience or they trainer doesn’t care as long as you pay and show up.
The field fitness teaches you every single move 100% correctly that you end up playing correctly which you can feel your fat cells breaking down while practicing and not only that! They are very friendly and outgoing that you really can enjoy your time and stay motivated while playing. They seriously care about you as you would have a personal trainer that consistently checking on you where they make sure you get most out the training.
Note: if your a tech person who are behind the desk all day then this is definitely a great way to strengthen your shoulders and back.

I LOVE taking these classes online via Zoom. They're still extremely challenging and fun, and the coaches keep the class limit small so they can still check your form virtually! You also don't need a ton of equipment, so it's great to do these workouts at home.
These workouts have been the highlight of my day, especially with the stressors of daily life during COVID. Thank you for hosting incredible classes and can't wait to continue working out at the field! I would recommend anybody to try out a class, the coaches make working out fun!

Coach Eddy, Josh and Justin are amazing and have built an incredibly unique studio and community. You’ll be hard pressed to meet more energetic and passionate coaches who try and make working out fun! They tailor classes to individuals of all levels and are great at offering modifications if needed. They are also genuinely interested in connecting with students and their ability to remember everyone’s names is impressive! Even though I moved to the city, I was able to join their online classes after realizing shelter in place was going to go on for months. Now I am not an online workout person but because you have to turn on your camera, the classes are small, and the coaches are watching you like a hawk... there’s no slacking off or having the wrong form! But what’s even more impressive is their ability to tailor exercises to individuals!

I've been working out with The Field Fitness for the past few years! I usually drive from San Mateo to go to San Jose just for their class. Why? The workouts are really great, we've gone on an amazing fitness journey with them, they've helped us crush goals (grow abs!), teach us how to properly lift, and well - the coaches make it 10x better!
When COVID started, they pivoted to online Zoom classes. Of course, this isn't quite the same as in-person, but they still keep the class as challenging with items you have at home. I'm still breaking a sweat burning 400-500 calories each session, which is more than working out on my own because I can feel the energy from everyone else in the class.
The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable! They have degrees in kinesiology and have taught us so many different topics like body fat mechanics, calculating calories using MyFitnessPal, and learning the importance of protein intake. During class, they're watching your form, keeping everyone engaged, and bring a ton of energy to class. They are extremely personable and extremely friendly - they're definitely my favorite coaches and have become friends too!
If you're ever curious about taking a class with them, they have a trial and I highly, highly recommend them!

This gym is one of my favorite gyms ever! The coaches are all really great and I always leave feeling good after a workout with them! Everything is online right now because of covid but I'm still able to get a good workout in at home. Even over zoom, it still feels like a tight knit lil community that works out together :) it's really great I'd highly recommend this place!
EDIT: just wanted to add a quick update about the online classes, I know everything that happens online seems subpar to in person activities but these online classes are really worth it. I get just as good of a workout in as compared to in-person classes and classes are still individualized (small classes, coaches will watch your form and correct you, etc). I look forward to these classes every day and they definitely help get me off my feet during quarantine!

Been doing The Field at home Zoom workouts and they are JUST AS AMAZING AS EVER. Classes are still just as personable as they keep them small and the coaches really watch your form from Zoom.
In case you're worried about either not feeling as effective of a workout or not having the right equipment - NEVER FEAR, the coaches give you lots of weight and equipment alternatives that you have lying around the house (detergent jugs etc) and I still can't move the next day after a class.
Total lifesaver that they switched to online classes during Covid or I'd be clocking in 80 steps a day.

I've been to a LOT of studios and gyms over the years (thanks Classpass), and The Field Fitness is the most fun place I've worked out at with the most genuinely friendly and personable coaches. The HIIT rounds are always a great mix of cardio and toning, and they pay a lot of attention to making sure your form is correct and that you feel challenged. During the pandemic, their virtual classes have been fantastic! They carefully watch you through the video screen and encourage and/or correct your form, so it feels like they're right there in your living room. Although you have to be creative with finding the right "equipment" at home, they give a lot of suggestions and examples on what households items you can use to do the exercises. Give Field Fitness a try!!

As a surfer, snowboarder, wakeboarder, skater, cyclist, HIIT cardio is the most essential for endurance and stamina. I couldn't be happier taking a class at The Field. The coaches were friendly and knowledgeable. In the world of fitness, technique is very critical in optimizing your gains. They were constantly correcting form. They made sure that the exercise is performed correctly. Eddy and Glen are both actively motivating everyone. Overall, the environment was just right: the perfect setup for working hard and pushing yourself. As a first timer, I felt comfortable and I would highly recommend any class here. Besides my hobbies, I work a 9-5 desk job and it felt really nice to activate different muscle groups. My hamstrings, glutes and core were really sore the next day. My goals align with athletic training so shout out to the coaches for executing on unique programming. I love the mission so I even bought a shirt. Til next time! Peace.

Best gym experience in the bay! If you like taking workout classes with some pretty cool ass coaches this is the place. The gym has a feeling like having a personal trainer who works with you based on your goals-they work with you on nutrition as well as planning workouts for your own time. Also, there are "games" and competitions that motivates everyone to food log with fun prizes.
Class sessions are only as hard as how you want to make them. The guys are pretty good at pushing you to the limit and give modifications for movements that you cant do. The guys really listen and care about everyone in the class.
Music choice is kickass, lots of different genres ranging from hiphop, edm, alternative, r&b and chillout(stretching and cooldown).
Best part is, they are very welcoming and just generally good dudes. Makes going to class fun.

The Field is the best! I absolutely can't say enough great things about the coaches (Josh, Eddie, Justin and Glenn too!) - they bring knowledge, compassion and a great attitude to each workout, rain or shine. They are invested in their clients and make sure that all workouts leave you feeling good about your progress. I especially want to call out their fun-loving attitude; most coaches/trainers maintain an overly serious demeanor but these guys bring the fun into coaching and really are a great way to end a long day of work. I have loved being a part of the Field family and absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants to join a great group exercise class with grade A coaches!

Truly exceptional trainers at this indoor turf gym. Brand new equipment & challenging classes. Coaches also help with nutrition. Plus the coaches themselves are co-owners so this is a small business, not a big corporate chain. Highly highly recommend -- my favorite gym in the Bay.
