Four year ago I became a mom. Since then, I couldn't manage to go back to my weight before pregnancy. I tried on my own really hard. Meeting Mike and Melissa at the fit clinic changed my life. I did not only go back to my previous weight in such a short time (8 weeks), but I also learnt how to eat healthier, how engage my muscles when working out, how to breath, how to stretch... I started at The Fit Clinic back in February, during a time when I felt frustrated and stuck. A year of intense work stress and an irregular schedule had led to noticeable weight gain, which started to affect both my confidence and my body.

As someone who dances regularly, the added weight put pressure on my knees, made movement feel heavier, and left me feeling disconnected from the way I used to move and feel.

I had mostly done dance and Pilates before, and had never tried strength training—so I was hesitant at first. But that changed over time. I started to feel stronger, lighter, and more capable—not just physically, but mentally too.

KJ has been my primary coach throughout this journey. He’s knowledgeable, patient, and observant—he pays attention to how you move and what your body needs. He knows when to push and when to adjust, and his approach keeps training both effective and sustainable. With his guidance, I’ve become noticeably stronger and leaner.

The overall environment at the gym is also incredibly welcoming. Mike, the owner, personally walks me through my InBody scans and always offers practical, thoughtful advice. The whole team is supportive, engaged, and full of encouragement and care.

For me, this journey has been about more than just physical appearance. It’s about rebuilding rhythm, moving with ease, and reconnecting with a healthier, more grounded version of myself. I came in just looking for change, but fitness has quietly become something I'm committed to for a long haul.

Andy Le:
Andy is one of the best personal trainers I’ve ever worked with. At first, his loud energy surprised me, but I quickly realized it’s because he’s so passionate about what he does. Andy really cares about form and always makes sure I’m doing exercises correctly—he’s always watching and guiding me. He pushes me hard, but in the best way, and after 6 months of training with him, my strength has improved so much! If you’re looking to grow your glutes (or your upper body), Andy is the person to train with. I first became a client of Mike’s in 2022, and in the over two years I have been working with him and his team my approach to nutrition, training, and mindset have changed immensely, as has my physique. I was not a total novice when I first started coaching with Mike and had invested in personal training for many years prior to the Fit Clinic but can truly say that the services that Mike and his team provide are totally unmatched. There’s so much that the Fit Clinic has to offer to clients. I’ve worked on nutrition and programming with Mike, tried yoga with Kathy which always is a 10/10 experience, trained with amazing and attentive trainers including Andy, Kenny, Cody, Alvin, Dom, Luke, and Peter. I started my fitness journey with The Fit Clinic in July of 2024. Before joining I had difficulty staying committed to nutrition and working out. Since I’ve joined I’ve been supported by the trainers/coaches every step of the way! I weight train with two trainers a week and one day on my own. Both trainers, Cody and Peter, have great energy and made me feel comfortable using new gym equipment right away. I do monthly check ins with Mike or Nick, both are very knowledgeable in nutrition. Monthly check ins with coaches help me stay on track with my nutrition and help me figure out what is working well and what isn’t in my diet. Modifications to goals are also done in monthly check ins if necessary. The support from staff and results I’ve seen these last few months is what has kept me coming back!

I’m so happy that I chose the fit clinic to get back on track with my fitness routine. I love the fit clinic. Getting my personal training sessions here was the best decision I made. If you’re on the fence about it, go in for a consultation and take a few training sessions — or take a yoga class, sign up for class pass. Whatever you do, just get started! Kathy and Mike are amazing human beings who tailor your program to your needs and goals. I was never able to gain weight before and after 6 months with them I had gained 5+ lbs of muscle. Since then two of my aunts and their husbands started exercising and losing weight they thought only a tummy tuck could fix! It’s not easy and change doesn’t happen overnight but it’s soooo worth it.

A little over 6 months ago (02/2023) I met with Mike, head trainer at The Fit Clinic. He gave me a reality check of my body fat percentage and weight ratio. Since that day, every week, once a week I have met with Mike for my hour-long training sessions. While working with Mike on my fitness goals he pushes me beyond what I believed were my limits. I am also learning what foods to cut out of my diet and how to properly exercise. I first met Mike in 2015 when he was working at The Right Stuff, where I had been a member for several years. I was only visiting at the time but knew I would be moving back home to Campbell in 2016. I asked the manager at Right Stuff to find me their VERY BEST personal trainer as physically speaking I have some special needs.

Mike and I hit it off right away, and when I moved back to the Bay Area in 2016 we started working together intensely 5 days a week. I continue to work with both him (and Kathy, his business partner, whom I met later). I’ve now been working with Mike for nearly seven years, and with Kathy for about three and a half years.

Since then, Mike and Kathy have partnered to open (two) gyms for personal training, nutrition coaching, as well as yoga classes and other group classes. Throughout the years Mike has stood by me with all my ups and downs, including five surgeries and rehabs. He is amazing. Not only is he a top-notch trainer but a wonderful person, dedicated to a holistic approach to fitness, health and nutrition.

I can’t say enough good things about Mike and Kathy. Mike has helped me regain strength, and Kathy has helped me develop core strength, mobility, and better breathing. Occasionally I’ve worked with some of their other trainers, and they all seem to be top notch—definitely well beyond your average personal trainer. The Fit Clinic may be small compared with many other gyms, but it is exclusive for people who are serious about working out and general fitness, as well as prepping others for bodybuilding competitions. Oh, did I mention that Mike was a champion bodybuilder?

I’ve had many goals over the years, but with the help of The Fit Clinic, I continue to knock them out of the park. Frankly, I probably would not be here today, strong, flexible, and fit without them. Like I said, the training Mike and Kathy have provided has been a total game changer for me. My neurosurgeon had told me that I would never be physically flexible and able to do the things that I can now do. But he was wrong, as I have so far exceeded all projections.

Whether you are a competitive body builder or just someone who wants to achieve optimal fitness, if you are looking for real results then The Fit Clinic is for you!

I totally recommend the Fit Clinic Yoga Studio on Meridian Ave and the Gym on Union Ave, San Jose. After discussing my goals with Mike, the owner, he set me up with a strength, flexibility and mobility trainer. Kathy, the yoga teacher/trainer/ co-founder has changed my life. I thought yoga was just for flexible people but Kathy has shown me that anyone can do it with the right assistance. She is the most empowering person that I know. She is a tiny woman who can do some incredible things with her body, yet she is so encouraging and reassuring to me.

The vibe is chill and yet I end up doing more than I ever thought possible. Kathy’s super power is her ability to relate to others. She knows when to push and when to retreat. It was only a month into my twice weekly training sessions that muscles re-appeared that I hadn’t seen since pre covid times.

In addition, Kathy is an inspiring person with a lot of empathy and wisdom. She has supported me through past injuries and I now have complete shoulder mobility. I am most grateful for the way she makes me feel about me.

Small group training isn’t in everyone’s budget and luckily there are plenty of classes that will take you where you need to go. I especially like Laura’s stretch & recovery class. Laura is a kind, nurturing person who guides you into being the best version of yourself. I especially like that she reserves the last 15 minutes of class for hands on stretching for those who want it. The atmosphere is very Zen and all of the staff are professional, inspiring people. There is a whole other nutritional component that looks interesting and I plan to add that to my routine soon.

No matter if you are a body builder or a person like me whose goal it is to touch her head to her knees, The Fit Clinic can help. I can already do things that I never thought possible. Thank you Fit clinic!

Starting an online coaching program with Mike is one of the best decisions of my life! I could go on forever about how much I recommend Mike and the Fit Clinic. The best investment I’ve made was here, after feeling stuck on my fitness journey for so long and constantly hearing that after 30s is hard to loose weight and get in shape, I almost believe it but I decided to invest and go with the experts then I met Mike, who took me to this awesome journey of transformation, he not just help me to “loose weight “ but he help me to understand relationship with food and with my own body.

When I first went to Mike I was dealing with all kind of issues like irregularity, constantly bloating, lack of energy etc. I notice improvement after just the first week, then we set a goal which I surpassed before the goal time, he was sooo patient with me and always responding to my questions and giving solutions, he is very knowledgeable and professional, my only complaint was that this place is a bit of a drive from my place but after bringing my son on board to take some clases with Lani and Kathy this is not an issue anymore! We enjoy it so much that driving there is just as fun.

This is such a cute little studio! Classes are small so you get lots of personalized coaching. Staff is super friendly, I love Kathy’s yoga classes for a bit more energetic flow. The strength and hit classes are good too! They also have some great protein snacks, watch out they are dangerous (you’ll end up grabbing one each time you go 😂).

I have been working on my weight loss for over 2 years and I’ve been looking for someone to help me take it to the next level to teach me about nutrition and best habits for working out. I sent out a Yelp email blast to local personal trainers and Mike was the first to reply.

We scheduled a consultation and he did a free inBody test to get some results. Once the results were printed, Mike started to do his thing, which was amazing to see. He broke down every single result, explained what they mean and where he recommends I need to be - and what steps to take so I can achieve the goals.
Mike is very passionate about what he does - I’m excited to have him and his team as part of my weight loss journey. I know that with Mikes help, I will learn safe and best weight lost habits/practice and achieve my goal!

I started going to Fit Clinic 4 months ago and I find my experience there quite valuable. They helped me change my lazy lifestyle to a healthy one.
