Since joining The Boxing Prescription, my whole life has done a full 360. I’m motivated in a way I haven’t felt in years. I’m getting up early, looking forward to my walks, and even my clothes are starting to fit differently. But what surprised me most was that the mental transformation came first.
The support they give is real. I don’t like to say “hand-holding,” but honestly, having someone guide me, reassure me, push me, and give me the tools to better myself made all the difference. Knowing I’m not alone—knowing someone is cheering for me too—shifted something deep inside.
Coach Greg has been an absolute godsend. The military background—him, the owner, and many of the men and women —creates an environment of discipline and accountability that I needed. I wanted someone who wouldn’t fall for my excuses, someone who would push me when I’m tired and tell me to drive on.
But the real blessing is this:
Now, when someone is telling me to push on and drive on… it’s me.
Again—it’s me.

I joined the Boxing Prescription at the end of March 2025. I'm a 39 year old woman experiencing 'the change' for the last two years. I've had an on and off athletic lifestyle, putting hustle before health.
I found the gym through an Instagram post and followed through. I had a call to set up a one-on-one with the owner, Guy, and upon visiting, he measured BMI and body weight. He asked me about my goals and my preferences and tailored a plan for me in under an hour. I wanted to get my strength back. I'm a professional cook with a bag full of interests and a small spiritual niche YouTuber (Linden In La La Land). I need all the organic tools for physical strength and mental endurance I can get.
My experience at the Boxing Prescription since March has been excellent. The instructors are professional and serious about their commitment to the clients' health and well-being! The program I purchased includs 6 months of unlimited classes and open gym sessions where one can work out at their own pace. My Prescription cost $225 monthly until I re-sign and elevate to achieve even more for myself! There have been weeks since joining where I have to prioritize doing absolutely nothing while my body recalibrates. They check on you and follow up with you and there is absolutely 0% pressure. If you have an iron will, they have the irons to keep you on track. Even if it's a slow pace, like mine!
Big shout out to Simon! I require a nice mix of work and play to get anything done. You provide that consistently!
Since joining and placing myself under strict adherence, my blood pressure is down, my mental clarity is delicious, and my weight (although I've always lost weight and gained weight easily) is down! Yes, I had to sweat and hurt and get stiff and maybe a few random moments of flatulence could have embarrassed me enough to just throw in the towel. It's a good thing bodily noises only make me laugh, not flush with embarrassment. Then again, be prepared to get flushed! I LOVE it!
I hope this review helps someone who's always wanted to try boxing. It's worth the personal investment and it'll bring a whole different side of your psyche out!

I'm usually not the type to write any review whether it's positive or negative but this one is long overdue. From Guy ( the owner) to the staff I'm 100 percent happy with how they approach things, it speaks volumes about Guy. Good 👍 job guys! I would like to thank Jee Kim in particular. Jee pushes you and challenges you to your max! Always takes his time to teach you the proper fundamentals of boxing, while understanding where you are physically. I appreciate what he does, he pays attention to detail. Needless to say, all of the coaches here have their unique way of teaching.

I’ve been coming here for a little while now and I really enjoy it. It’s super conveniently located in Los Feliz for me, it has a big parking lot (this is huge) and I really enjoy how many classes they offer every day — they also have open gym hours in the afternoon. The classes are great workouts and everybody is really chill, there aren’t any big egos here, just a bunch of good people trying to get healthy. I dig it.

I love the community at this gym. Sheila and her kickboxing classes always make me feel powerful and is the best full body work out ever time. Dmytro’s strength classes are incredible and he is the best vibes. Julia’s strength classes are also an amazing workout and she plays great music. Gregg’s boxing classes are elite if you want to learn from a pro. Only issue is if you want to have a friend join the owner will blows up their phones about paying thousands of dollars for a year membership, which turns them off from joining. Maybe chill out on forcing full memberships.

I've been taking kickboxing classes and training individually with Sheila for over seven months and I've loved the experience. I've been coming here since last Fall and I absolutely love my classes. I usually take the strength training classes, but I also enjoy the boxing classes. The trainers are fantastic. They make sure your form is correct so you can work out safely. They really know how to help you reach your fitness goals. It's a friendly, diverse, community-minded gym and not intimidating like so many other gyms. You train hard and make friends along the way. I've already referred two friends and they've been loving their experience too!

My personal trainer Gregg is amazing. He works very hard. He is incredibly charismatic and a great motivator. Gregg really pushes me and my husband to go for past what we think is possible. He focuses diet AND exercise. Gregg is a little bit of a life coach and a friend. I lost 10 pounds with Gregg and people are shook at how good I look! All the staff is super friendly and you definitely get a great workout — shout our to Dmytro, Sheila and Julia too — the best coaches!!

The fitness prescription really made me look forward to working out again! Between the variety of classes from HIIT, Strength training and boxing, to personal training, it has enough variety to keep it fresh! The gym has everything you need to get a great workout in, but it’s the staff that really makes this place shine above the rest. This gym changed my life. I will be eternally grateful for the day I stepped in to this place in fall 2023 and didn’t look back. Specifically, working 1:1 with Sheila was a total game changer. I’ve struggled with gym anxiety and confidence most of my life, but Sheila… she just really knows her STUFF and she doesn’t gatekeep or judge. She always answered my questions (even if I thought they were DUMB, she’s so sweet and supportive y’all!!! and always gets back to you in a timely manner) ALSO…she knew when to hold my hand and be gentle and when to say “LFG!!! YOU GOT THIS!!” because turns out, your feelings matter and she is excellent at honoring where you’re at WHILE assisting you in slowly but surely pushing you past your limits. I started coming here in February for personal training and I love it here! Sheila is very patient and accommodating to her clients and makes working out fun. Every time I come into the gym she is positive and uplifting. She’s helped me change my lifestyle to incorporate working out and a sustainable diet. At Boxing Rx I have finally found that routine. Higher quality gyms result in higher quality results. Sheila is amazing at everything, especially kickboxing!…plus she has the coolest shoes. I've been interested in boxing my whole life, but have always been too scared to try, so relegated myself to running and yoga which I always kinda hated. Then about a year ago I moved to this neighborhood, and finally took the plunge and tried this gym out for a month. Now I am completely hooked - I am boxing, weightlifting, doing handstands and box jumps and things I never thought I could do. The environment is so encouraging and welcoming, everyone is so friendly, all of the instructors are fantastic and I am stronger than I've ever been! Can't recommend it enough.

I have been going to this gym for 2.5 years now. I did not exercise for 4-5 years and I started having breathing issues and palpitations. I joined this gym because it was time to get healthy. I hate cardio but I've always loved martial arts so this is a great way to do cardio in a very fun way. The gym also has free weights such as barbells and dumbells which will cover full body workouts. This gym is a hybrid between a crossfit gym and boxing gym.
There several different trainers that, in my opinion, specialize in certain training styles. The following are the trainers' classes that I attend to the most (There are others but my schedule doesn't let me attend them):
Gregg : Traditional boxing and technique focused work. Take this class if you want to focus on learning/improving boxing technique & form. Plus he is super chill & friendly and will joke around with you. He also fights competitively.
Dmytro: Strength/cross fit training. Dymtro or "D" for short, is crazy strong and has tons of stamina. He will workout along side the class on his crazy HIIT Sunday class
Shiela: Kickboxing cardio class. Shiela's routine is super endurance based and will leave you crawling out the gym by the end. Go here for straight up cardio using kickboxing techniques.
What sets this gym apart from other gyms for me is that:
1. Easy access: location is near my house and parking is a breeze and free
2. This boxing gym has weights. Most martial arts gyms don't have this much weight training equipment. So, I am able to both strength train and do martial arts.
3. Space: regular gyms are way to congested with people. I come to open gym and I don't have to wait for someone to finish to use the equipment.
4. The community: everyone, from the trainers to the gym members, is very friendly and welcoming. Many times, I stay after class just to talk with the trainers and hang out for a few minutes. Everybody here has a "self-improvement" mentality and that's what a gym is all about.

This gym is my second home. Sheila literally can't get rid of me. In addition to great personal training I also get dating and life advice from my sessions. I hesitated for a while to join a gym because I have an old knee injury but it hasn't been a problem because all the teachers I've worked with are super mindful and always help me modify my exercises both in private sessions as well as the classes. Definitely recommend, as long as you don't take my session times with Sheila. LOL JP. (But am I really tho...)

My 13-year-old daughter has been a member of the Boxing Prescription gym in Los Feliz for the past 5 months. Both she and I could not be happier with her experience. I recently moved to the Eastside and was looking for a gym to get back into weightlifting and other forms of low impact cardio. I looked at all the options but ultimately stumbled upon Fitness Prescription in this giant shopping center and I’m so happy I found this very special gym. It’s primarily class-based with several great instructors. I attend strength/weight training several times per week and the instructor and class is something I look forward to. I forgot how important weightlifting is for every aspect of my life (ie. My posture is better, I feel better, I feel stronger, I have more energy, I have fewer injuries, I run, yoga, and play sports better, etc.). The gym also offers a great community and it feels like your neighborhood gym. After chatting with the owner of the gym several times, I now understand why the gym is so special; he really cares about fitness, improving his members’ physique and nutrition, and creating a supportive environment. I signed up for a long term membership and my girlfriend also does weekly 1:1 classes. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a gym.

My son is 5'7 and 13 years old at 195 lbs I thought this would be a great start since there isn't an age requirement for boxing cardio training rather than techniques of boxing.
My son has autism and is high-functioning, while we are waiting in the lobby a woman came down and observe my son flapping his hands with pure excitement, she had a weird look on her face. When I asked her what was the age requirement she made a wired look at my son and said at least 15 years old to participate. I don't see any age requirements posted anywhere in their gym, which made me feel as if we were being discriminated against based off of appearance.

Be careful with your money at this gym. I cancelled in January, which was approved by the admin. I was told the last payment would be for January. This was already an expense, since I wouldn't be able to return to the gym for that month, but I accepted the fact and moved on.
I left LA in February. The gym clearly cancelled my payments as requested, but then went on to steal two months' worth of money for both Feb and March (each auto payment had been on the 15th, and for Feb and March they'd been for the 17th, so this was clearly someone intentionally going in to take more money after the fact). I had the payments declined by my bank, and the gym's owner Guy insisted on keeping one of the month's payments even though I'd cancelled in time and was told by admin that the cancellation was approved and taken care of. My error was not getting that approval in writing. Whether an admin error or a lack of clear communication, to lose two months worth of money to this gym was very frustrating and not worth the experience.
I'd also been signed up for a program that cost more money unnecessarily without my knowledge, and ended up losing personal training sessions. Again, I needed to be more careful, but I'd generally hope that any business was operate with more integrity.

I started here as part of the four week challenge they offer. I adhered to a meal plan and attended 3 classes a week. I had so much trouble losing weight before but this challenge really helped me. The instructors are all really nice and there is a lot of variety in classes and times. I lost 2% of body fat and picked up a new boxing hobby!

This is a cardio boxing gym which is not focused on boxing technique. Once you are done with the one month program, you have to sign up for a 6 month contract. There are no month to month options to further vet the gym which is annoying because the only way to cancel the 6 months is to have to pay 2 months of payments to get out of it. I wasn't told this when I signed up so be careful of that and try to get a month to month membership. If you want to lose weight, this place is okay but you might as well just save the monthly money on a much cheaper, regular gym membership and hit the treadmill or bike. I expected classes to be more frequent and more technique based but you're just really told to hit the bags with a combination that you get taught in a minute of instruction. If you observe the class, you can see most people aren't throwing punches correctly even after having been there for months. You get thrown right into the class with a 1 minute instruction on the plan for the day instead of any instruction on the right way to throw punches since there is no difference with the Fundamentals and Cardio boxing classes. The individual training will cost you extra for personal lessons. You can't learn how to punch with one personal lesson so expect to pay a lot more for the personal time on top of the monthly membership. The idea with technique is the same with proper form when weight lifting in the gym. If you throw punches wrong, then you can injure your hands and wrists. Oh and you have to go buy boxing gloves and wrist wraps before even starting the classes. They sells some but you can buy better gloves on amazon. If you can't make the the only two mobility classes on Wednesdays and Sundays, then you miss out completely and it's a wasted part of your membership. You'll be laying on the floor for the stretching class, which is uncomfortable, so you might need a yoga mat. Since the classes are back to back, theres residual sweat on the ground so be mindful of that too when you're laying on the ground. There are no mirrors in the gym to see your form either. If you want to drill technique in boxing and focus on throwing jabs, hooks, crosses correctly, this is not the gym you want. You are better off finding an actual boxing gym that focuses on technique. The instructors are nice but this is not the program that I expected and was told initially sold on where I could learn the fundamentals of boxing and to throw punches correctly. This is a cardio boxing gym but beware of the limited mobility classes and come in understanding you have to spend your own time at home learning how to punch and do footwork correctly.

I have been going to this gym for about 4 months and I was able to lose about 4% body fat and gained about the same amount in muscle. The majority of my gains came during a fitness challenge that they had that utilized a heart rate monitor. I was lucky enough to win a raffle for $500, and this was the first time I ever won any first place prize. I have really enjoyed my time at the gym all the coaches are really good and the people who go there are also very nice. It is one of the largest box gyms I've ever been to and has a separate room for boxing and one for the CrossFit like training. They even have boxing ring. They have classes from 6:00 a.m. till around 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. till about 10:00 p.m. and there's an open gym for about an hour and a half starting at 3:30 p.m. but if there's not a class going on you can use the room to work out. There's a variety of classes from boxing to strength training to more of a high intensity interval type of workout. Group classes are pretty much the only way I can get motivated and if being in the class allows me to get personalized instruction from the coaches. They also have actual personal training but that is not something I usually get because it's a little out of my budget right now. But so far this is the best gym I've ever been to and I've been going to gyms for a while and haven't really gotten great results. And now I am in the best shape and have the best looking body I have had in my life, and that's saying a lot because I'm 45 years old. But now I look 44.

They kick my butt.

Amazing gym!!! It's great for beginners to explore the different classes they offer. They work with people at all different levels of fitness so you don't feel out of place. I've been coming here for about 6 months and it has been such an awesome experience. Great atmosphere and the staff really make you feel welcome and pump you up. With the help of the most fun and positive trainers they definitely motivate you and push you to give it your best. When signing up for a class the trainer makes it creative and different all the time so it doesn't get boring. They give you enough feedback to continue to improve on your own. Overall, its the best place for anyone to start their fitness journey and build self-improvement.

I started my Boxing Challenge at The Boxing Prescription in Los Feliz on July 13, 2021. Covid-19 really got the best of me and my mental health. Luckily, since things were opening back up my job offered me a wellness bonus to find an activity or class that would get me up and going. Up to then, I've only done yoga to maintain my weight and have some movement going.
I danced for a couple years back in my teens and early 20's but had a fall and shattered my tailbone. Since, exercising has been difficult and it's been downhill with my weight and finding something that wouldn't make the injury worse or painful.
I came here with the intention of just getting myself motivated. Like I mentioned, COVID-19 took a toll on my mental health and this was it! I NEEDED something to make me WANT to go out and do something but at the same time my back issues were the first thought that came to mind. Of course losing some pounds would be beneficial to me as well, but for me the motivation to do something other than sit around all day was the most important issue I wanted to fix!
The Boxing Prescription definitely improved my stamina and I find myself more motivated to do something outside of the class. The classes are definitely killer, and I definitely have a long way to go, but the feeling I get when I've completed an exercise cycle really pushed me through to the next exercise. The people are great and understand you if you cannot go forward with an exercise and help change it if needed, BUT they also make you want to push yourself to do more, which was a great challenge for me to take on and found to be the best motivator. I cannot emphasize how much I am taking away from this challenge and I'm very happy to have had this opportunity!

For almost 5 years, I had been a member of Guy’s gym. Him and his coaches introduced me to Crossfit the best way possible. I was never really into fitness until I joined, and I would have never seen myself spending time at a gym. I started working out with my coach Kevin He is a very skillful coach and he gives the motivation to finish my my daily goal. I was 220 when I came in now am on my week 3 I lost 7 pounds I feel very good thanks to to Guy that he contacted me to enroll. I really appreciate these guys and this place has plenty if parking for free. On top, it’s a very clean gym to work out in and very affordable!

As an ex athlete I have always struggled to find a workout that kept me motivated and engaged. I started the 6 week boxing challenge at Boxing RX (formerly Los Feliz Boxing) at a rock bottom- I was at my heaviest and while I had never boxed before I had try something new. It was amazing! They start you off at the basics- learning all the different punches, foot work and movement you need to know and slowly progress in the combinations and workouts. Plus they provide you with a full, detailed meal plan which made it easy to stay on track and reframe my eating habits. I lost 8lbs and 4% body fat in those 6 weeks and over the last year and half I am down 15lbs. But more than that, I just love boxing. It doesn’t feel a “workout.” It feels like am training- developing a skill, constantly improving, getting faster, stronger, and more consistent. And, to add, during quarantine the coaches have continued to program zoom workouts which has been life saving. I need that accountability and the workouts truely get me through the day. I can’t wait until the gym opens back up and we can get on the heavy bags and gloves again!

I love the Boxing Prescription! I've been going for about 9 months, starting with the 6 Week Challenge. Great coaches and facility. During COVID-19 they moved their classes on to Zoom and I have continued to go 3 times a week. Super convenient and the coaches are very supportive. I will continue to be a member for a long time!

the zoom classes during quarantine have been excellent. all the coaches are great, I've been working mostly with Alex and Augustin, both of whom have helped me tremendously. def saw results since the beginning of quarantine and can say without a doubt this gym has made my life much better before, and during quarantine.

Awesome gym all around. I've been going here since summer of 2019. I came in with their 6-week challenge and quickly realized this place was different than other gyms or class-based studios I had been to. They truly care and want to be a part of your journey. It's not about weight loss or muscle gain, it's about building strength, increasing mobility to avoid injury and setting/beating your own personal goals. The facility they just moved into is also great. Best part... TONS of parking. Highly recommend this place.

Just walking by on Sunday and they were open. Besides normal fitness, I also heard people practice boxing. It's good to have more fitness place around as I only know one further north on Vermont.
