I've been a member here for quite a while and really love it. Friendly, supportive, knowledgeable trainers. Respectful and uplifting community. Clean bathrooms! This is a small business that offers high quality small group personal training. No scammy sales tactics, no crowding, none of the bs that comes with corporate gym environments. If you want to get into strength training and know you need some personalized attention to do it, I highly recommend this gym.

As a beginner I am so appreciative of this gym, their trainers, classes, set-up, and community. The groups are perfect for learning new skills and staying motivated. The small group setting was comfortable. The trainers are great teachers and happily take the time to show proper form and more. Overall, this place is an essential part of one's fitness journey whether beginner or advanced.

I’ve been with Fitness Tech for over three years and every one of those days in three years has been a positive experience. Eric Sorenson, owner/manager sets a positive tone during sessions – either one-on-one or in an open class environment. His attitude and fun sense of humor is what has impressed me to continue in my weight training journey. Lifting weights wasn’t something I thought I could do successfully, but the three trainers at this gym, Eric, Aram and Philix, have helped me make meaningful strides. Each trainer brings their unique background and training, which I feel is an asset for the gym. Weight training is a game changer for your life and I would encourage anyone to start, regardless of your age, regardless of your fitness level. My routine is semi-private with a personal trainer and I’ve experienced strides in my development. There are open classes, as well.

The gym is conveniently located in downtown South San Francisco near Airport Boulevard, Grand Avenue and the 101 onramp. It’s an easy commute for me since I live in the Southeast part of San Francisco. Parking in the morning is easy to find, and in the afternoon, parking is metered, but parking is usually available.

I love TFT!!! I have been to other gyms in the past but they don't compare. Other gyms rush through, and you feel tired, unaccomplished. I have never been able to lose weight and keep it off and actually see muscle toning until I came to TFT. The coaches are super friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help you get the best out of the workout. I love the special workout sessions. There was a crazy cardio session on 4th of July that worked every corner of your body, but everyone had so much fun I look forward to the next one on Labor Day. There was another 6 week special focused on back, knees and joints which helped for those of us who sit 8hrs a day. The TFT Games was like a mini Olympics where we competed against each other, but was also a chance to see where we could personally improve (I need more cardio for stamina). I look forwards Eric's (the owner) motivational emails and healthy recipes, to help us feel good about ourselves, not just at the gym. Everyone is there to have fun, but also do the work. I never cared about going to the gym or workout in general but now I look forward to it all the time!!

If member retention says anything about how awesome of a place TFT is, then it should speak volumes when I say I've been a member for over 13 years, and there is a significant number of members that have been there as long as I have, if not longer! I honestly can't imagine what my health and fitness levels would be like if I didn't discover this place. One of the hardest things to do is to leave your comfort zone, and the trainers do a great job with easing you into the workouts so that you actually look forward to going every time and building on your progress.

Give TFT a try. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made!

Highly recommend! I hadn’t ever been to a gym before I came here. I found gyms as a whole super intimidating and that often they are super focused on things like weight loss in ways that make me feel icky and unwelcome. I don’t want to be smaller, I want to feel good. Everyone here has been wonderful at understanding what my goals are and creating a very welcoming and comfortable space. I really enjoy the together classes! We’re shown a few different options on how to do each exercise so it’s easy to cater to your ability and it’s easy to check in with an instructor if you need an adjustment. Others in class are also really nice and supportive.

I’ve been going here pretty consistently since my partner and I first checked the place out in November (besides 2 months off when out apartment flooded.) I feel better, I sleep better, and I can see my growth as I’m able to use bigger weights and do more reps.

TFT gym is the best kept fitness secret in South San Francisco. I have been coming here for about a year and a half and it’s hands-down one of the most welcoming and friendly gyms I’ve ever experienced .Whether you are a beginner or more advanced the environment supports every fitness level.

I previously joined TFT when I turned 40. I can honestly say I was in the best shape of my life. Life got busy and I stopped going after a while. I turned 50 and decided I needed a change. I was uncomfortable in my body and couldn’t get the weight off on my own with just cardio. So, I went back to TFT in August of 2024 and it’s now June of 2025. Over the course of time I have lost about 15lbs, my arms look more defined, I feel stronger and climbing stairs doesn’t knock the wind out of me anymore. I enjoy the feeling of having a personal trainer at group prices. Workouts change every other day and I get a full body workout. The trainers and my peers are friendly and motivating, the place is clean and music is good. I would highly recommend giving it a try if you want to get out of your fitness rut and start making healthy changes that will not only make you look better but feel better too.

The Fitness Tech is a terrific place for a great workout. The whole team, Eric, Felix and Aram are great guys who are super friendly. They are there for you as they need them while you workout to come by and say hello, correct your form or just provide words of encouragement.

I really like the concept of the trainer demonstrating the exercises and you do them, at your pace and at your own level. There’s no pressure or competition, it’s just a great workout in a clean, friendly, encouraging environment.

If you’re on the fence, no problem, you can go in and get a free workout to see if it’s the right for you. I encourage you to go in and check it out; my bet is that you’ll be back…again and again!!

I used to be nervous about going to gyms because I didn't know what to do or how to do things correctly. But I started Custom sessions at TFT about a month ago, training mostly with Eric and Aram, and it has been such a great experience. They take the time to show how each exercise is done and correct any mistakes they see. They're friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and always there to help. The best part is that now my 13-year-old has joined me in this health journey, and it's been an incredible experience for both of us. My son is already seeing amazing results, including noticeable biceps and abs!

I am a huge fan of The Fitness Tech (TFT). I've been a member for ~2 years. I have been able to consistently go to the gym 5 days/ week because of TFT.

Before, I always hated going to gyms because I had to think about what I would do. I was inconsistent.

Here, I show up, there's the warm-up, workout, and cool down on the board. No thinking. I know the workout will take 45 minutes...maybe an hour every time. Gary or Eric, the two owners and personal trainers, will guide me through any questions or movements for the day. There no intimidating people or exercises - just functional things to keep me fit, mobile, and feeling less guilty about the food I love to eat. And I eat a lot!

It's a bit pricier than your normal 24 hour fitness spots but honestly I was throwing my money away not going consistently at those locations. Check it out for yourself with a free trial where Eric or Gary will walk you through a fitness assessment on day 1 and a workout the next day. I'm there at the 6 am - 7 am slots M-F. Say hello to me if you thought this review was useful. :)

Also, since it is COVID-19 times...the gym is very very clean. Masks on. Hand sanitizer, and personal disinfectant equipment for you to carry station to station (social distanced workout stations you rotate through for each set of movements). Good luck with your fitness goals!

This gym is a gift in my life! In the 18 months I’ve joined, I’ve had huge increases in my strength, transformed my body, and as a result, had a huge boost in my confidence. I’m living my best life right now, in large part to this gym.

The Fitness Tech (or TFT as it’s known by the members) is run by two expert and down-to-earth trainers, Gary and Eric. Everyday they present a different workout that’s either weight lifting centered or HIIT/cardio/stretching centered. They also have built in warmup/movement prep to start the workout and stretching/foam-rolling to end. It’s sort of like a boot camp workout, but you come and do the workout on your own time: no coming in at a specific class time or worrying that the session is full.

You come in either morning or afternoon/evening and one or both trainers is always there to help you as needed. In the beginning, I needed lots of help, and Gary and Eric were always on me about my form and developing good technique. Now, after a year and a half, I need much less help but they are still on me about my form and technique.

I once asked Gary if TFT was different then cross-fit, and he laughed and said, “We don’t want you to get hurt.” Jokes aside, I haven’t gotten hurt, I credit largely to the thoughtful workouts that include warmup and stretching, AND two incredibly mindful trainers that make sure we have technique and form down before we move up in weight.

If that wasn’t enough, the people who work out at TFT are down to earth and supper chill. I’ve made a bunch of friends here, which was by no means my goal when I joined, but this has given me more incentive to keep coming back. It really feels like a supportive family here.

If you’re like I was a couple of years ago, and your personal fitness was really going no where (I was subsidizing other members of 24 hour Fitness for several years), then consider checking out TFT. I never imagined I’d be doing the things I’m doing there, looking and feeling as great as I do. I used to think all this wasn’t possible for me. TFT changed all that. I know it can do the same for others too.
