I was invited by my niece to try gentle yoga. I didn’t have a clue of what to expect. My first experience with yoga was Bikram. The second was @ 24 hour fitness, and I struggled, but made it. This experience was EVERYTHING!!
I love it and will definitely be returning.

I booked the yoga ttc less than 3 days ago. Today I received an offer to move to Florida and I’m taking it. I kindly asked for the refund of my deposit (keep in my mind this is still the early bird period) and was denied because of “policy”. …any normal studio would understand and refund me my deposit. This is RIDICULOUS. Yoga greed is the greediest. Common courtesy is rare here.

Oh what can I say about Green Yogi generally and Pete Guinosso specifically? Yoga with Pete is about as perfect a yoga practice as seems humanly possible. Pete is the right balance of spiritual and irreverent, challenging and accessible. His choice of music is great, pacing spot on. He takes the time to ground each practice in a specific thought or intention and provides thoughtful nuggets of wisdom around that intention. More than once I was almost brought to tears in the best way. I am eternally grateful for Pete and the work he does.

Green Yogi is a great and very welcoming yoga studio. The studio is a very cozy space in itself. All teachers are excellent and all have different styles of teaching. A lot of teachers also incorporate chanting and meditation as part of their lessons. I am also a beginner to yoga and I love how most classes are paced for people of all levels. This has allowed me to take a lot of different classes that fit my schedule. I especially like the Vinyasa flow classes and the Jivamukti classes. I plan on trying the Yin and Kundalini classes in the future as well.

By far the best yoga studio in the Bay Area. Both Green Yogi locations have a great mix of styles, teachers, and formats that really work for every body. I started going weekly and now go almost daily. I've noticed such a positive impact on my body and outlook on life. I love that I can take a strong practice with Monika or slow down with some Yin in Carly's class. What sets this studio apart is the emphasis on community. Whether you're a beginner stepping on the mat for the first time or have been practicing asanas all your life, this is the most welcoming, dynamic, and mindful studio you can find in the East Bay.

Green Yogi is more than a yoga studio. It is a community, it is a family, it is a home. Everyone who works at this studio (the wonderful owner Nasiem, all the beautiful teachers, and helpers too) are heartfelt people who welcome everyone, not matter age, body type, or experience, into the space in an embrace that feels so needed after a long period of disconnection. I could not recommend it more highly.

I have been a member of the Green Yogi for over four years. For me it is an anchor in community- I have made so many friends through this space, met inspiring instructors, and grown spiritually and physically - especially helpful in navigating the pandemic. The owner has created a dynamic of many different kinds of yoga, a deep schedule and an excellent variety of instructors while weaving core values of openness, curiosity and support.

My usual go-to studio in downtown Berkeley recently closed so I was on the hunt for a new studio and The Green Yogi did not disappoint! A beautiful space in a beautiful neighborhood. I also love that a membership gives you access to classes at both locations (MLK and Telegraph) so there are so many class options/timings. Safe to say I found my new community!

I've been coming to Green Yogi for about three years now and I absolutely love it! This studio is small but cozy. The staff are friendly, talented and offer a range of different styles. Nasiem, the owner, is wonderful. Any time I've reached out with a question she has been really helpful.

I live closer to the MLK location, so I'm usually there, but the Telegraph location (the old Yoga Tree) is great too. My current favorite teachers at Green Yogi include:

Reba: Her Monday night class is super packed and for good reason! She offers a vigorous vinyasa flow class that will get you sweating. Reba has a great sense of humor, which keeps class light-hearted. I always leave her class feeling warm, limber, strong and part of a great community.

Carly: I love that she starts her Jivamukti Flow classes with a community greeting, gratitude and (usually) some chanting. She plays the harmonium, which is so lovely. One of the best aspects of her teaching though is that she offers excellent hands-on assists (which I so appreciate after months of Covid-related lack of contact). They've really helped me find better alignment and more range of motion in my poses.

Julie Ann: I love Julie Ann! She is all love and humor. Her Power Hour classes are an excellent mid-week work out. The pacing is moderate, but Julie Ann offers really spot-on cueing that gets you to engage all the right muscles for building strength. She takes requests, so if there are poses you're working on or muscle groups that need attention, Julie Ann is your gal!

Sonya: Sonya offers masterful cuing and gorgeous demonstrations. As far as technical improvement, I've made significant gains in her class because she has an uncanny ability to pinpoint exactly what muscles to engage to move efficiently and get the most out of a pose. Her classes incorporate long flow sequences that always make me feel long and strong.

Those are my favorite teachers, but you really can't go wrong with anyone at Green Yogi. There's something and someone there for everyone!

I have loved every class at Green Yogi so far! I started with the 3-week introductory offer, which was a great way to explore different classes! A wonderful community of people, everyone is so warm and welcoming here. I feel comfortable as a beginner yogi to try out new things. The instructors are very compassionate and knowledgeable. As someone who struggles with chronic back pain, I have particularly enjoyed Carly and Kari's Yin classes. I also loved Sonya's Saturday vinyasa–the flow was incredible. As a graduate student, I also really appreciate their student discount. I really look forward to taking more courses here and continuing my practice with this community!

Without a doubt, the best yoga studio I've ever attended. It's a warm, welcoming space that is relaxing, and the quality of the teachers is outstanding. Maria Christina is one of the best teachers imaginable, and Julie got me through multiple pregnancies and postpartum periods. It's a jewel, and I can't wait for more wine and yoga nights when it's safe to have them again!

I love this studio space - its cozy and charming aesthetically. The classes are mostly vinyasa which most people enjoy, but I go for the Yin Yoga classes which are harder to find are really good hear. I also enjoy the addition of the tibetan and crystal singing to the yin class for extra healing

I enjoy many of the classes at Green Yogi, plus the sudio is such a lovely calming space. Karis relaxing Wednesday evenings of Yin Yoga really help me when I need to unwind, Maria Cristina supports me with my physical strength and wakes me up in the mornings! while Carly Boland really creates connection and community! Thank you all, I highly recommend Green Yogi

Dropped in on one of Carly’s Saturday class today and very happy I did. Her charismatic approach to her practice was welcoming and fun. Hands on assistance and chanting brought the practice a human factor often lost in todays busy yoga approach. Would definitely take another class if I lived in the area and highly recommend. Also, the online signup makes it easy and carefree for scheduling and payment.

The Green Yogi has been a refuge through all the turmoils of the pandemic and as I transitioned into motherhood. Practicing in the park with Julie has been a magical reset for my week. The instructors are grounded, kind and connected and I come away feeling empowered, stronger, saner and ready for the week.

It has been a delight to have access to a local yoga studio via zoom this past year with great experienced teachers. I have yet to try the outdoor class’s or in person indoor classes but am anxious to do so! The space is beautiful and calming in studio- excited to get back!

This was my first class back inside - what a beautiful, comforting, warm welcome back! I took a 75 minute class with Maria Christina and loved the extra time. While I generally prefer Hatha over Vinyasa, I very much enjoyed the pacing of this class. I got plenty of slow, strong sequences where I could focus on my alignment. Instructions were clear and generous for all levels. Everything was spic and span clean with gentle music to set the mood. I really felt right at home- highly recommend.

One of the best yoga studios I have ever been to. It’s not like core power where it’s “hip” and feels like a workout over yoga. This place is a great mixture of strength, peace, and flow. When you walk in, you can truly appreciate all the aesthetics, even the signs in the bathroom, and the wooden blocks that you use to help support your poses. Everything has a great comfy and home feel to it.

I drive from SF to Berkeley to attend classes with Alyssa. She is stellar!

The classes can get full quickly which can sometimes be uncomfortable when another person’s bum is 1 in away from your face. But it’s full for a reason - classes and the studio are so great! Highly recommend. 😊💛

We've been going here two or three times a week for four months as our first experience with yoga, and it's really working well for us. Clean, spacious studio, friendly folks and a variety of good instructors - try them all and you'll find the ones that match what you want to do. We started with the milder Relaxation classes, and then shifted to the Power Vinyasas and we're slowly getting better. Laid-back atmosphere, not too much crystal rubbing stuff. Recommended!
