Joints felt creaky? Consistently grunting when getting in/out of the car? Just felt wobbly. After ten of these 20-min weight lifting sessions (2x a week) with Jesse L., I'm hopping off curbs, feeling revived muscles, and back moving with confidence. Friends noticed: "What are YOU doing?!" they ask, suggestively! Jesse L. gives the "Perfect" level of calm challenge and encouragement I need!

Perfect Workout is keeping me in shape at this point in my life like nothing else. I find 20 minute sessions work for me better than anything else. I stay regular and my skeleton is staying stable and not shrinking. Weight training has turned into a requirement for me.
My trainer Jessie is supportive and simply awesome. I feel welcome and encouraged. Perfect Workout is “perfect” for my needs and keeps me in good shape. Very good for bones and keeping my “figure” attractive.

There is no such thing as a magic solution to fitness and health but this is close! I came to the Perfect workout out of shape, overweight, and in ill health. After 4 months of only 2 thirty minute workouts a week and some sound nutrition I had lost 30 lbs, tons of inches, shed my illnesses (acid reflux, high cholesterol, injured back, fatigue, etc.) and gained energy, strength, tone, confidence, and a new wardrobe!.

I absolutely love working out with Chris at the El Cerrito Perfect Workout! A year ago, having never really done any weight training before, I joined the Perfect Workout in an effort to decrease my weight and improve my overall health. From the first informational session, I was sold on the value and efficiency of this thoughtfully designed way to exercise. The twenty-minute workouts have been easy to fit into my schedule, and I feel fantastic when I finish. Chris is the best trainer I have ever worked with and pushes me to achieve far beyond what I could ever imagine doing with weight training by myself without getting hurt. He pays careful attention to the quality and safety of each and every workout and is deeply invested in the success of his clients. He challenges you out of your comfort zone, supporting you every step of the way, and then celebrates your efforts and successes. Even on a "bad" day, he makes me feel like I am making progress and doing a great job! Chris has gotten me in great shape (down twenty pounds) and has helped me reduce my BMI to where it should be. His outstanding expertise in the field make him a wonderful resource. Chris has taught me so well about how to do weight training that I now feel comfortable applying these skills independently when working out at a gym. You can expect your clothes to fit better, have increased energy and balance, and a vast improvement in your overall strength. Want to put your shoes on without a chair, have confidence going down stairs, feel strong lifting your grandchildren or bags of groceries? Just a small list of my improvements in 2x/week for the last four months.
TPW is a clean and well organized studio, not a gym, and therefore pleasant and easy to focus on the program. Chris & Annie are extremely knowledgeable and know how to motivate throughout the workout routine.

The Perfect Workout is a great place to start if you haven't been to a gym regularly, or if you need some extra help with workouts. Everything is very low impact, which is great if your joints are a little weaker. I feel that the risk of injury is much lower with this style of workouts, but you can still see some great results in all parts of your body. Progress may be a little slow, but it is very sustainable. Just keep at it, and you will start to see your body transform.
It can be a little tough to find this place if it is your first time. Just walk through the breezeway between Trader Joe's and GNC, take the stairs or elevator to the second floor, and walk down the hall -- you will see the door a few steps down on your right.
The main reason I have stuck with The Perfect Workout is because of Chris, the manager here. He is fantastic! He really pushes you, but also listens to what is working for you or what you would like to change. He has a great knowledge of different workouts and exercises to challenge different muscle groups.
If you are just getting started in the world of working out or if you aren't satisfied with your current fitness level, do yourself a favor and sign up for an intro session. This could be your first step to a healthier you.
