Health Is A Human Right
The Pilates School is a real accredited school, not a big box gym. We have codified hundreds of Classical Pilates exercises into a logical curriculum built around the science of physical movement (Kinesiology). We will guide you every step of the way toward you taking ownership over you own Classical Pilates practice, fitness and a permanent healthy lifestyle.
At the Pilates School SF we make a point of fostering a truly diverse community of every gender, shape, and background. We know that one size does not fit all. We tailor the work to fit you.

This online and in-person studio healed my body and spirit in ways no one else could:
I'd like to thank all the teachers for hard-but-fun pilates, cardio, and weightlifting classes, keeping me aligned, and healing me in ways I didn't think pilates could. Surprise! Studies show that people heal faster when they feel the healer genuinely wants them to heal. That's why I healed at Pilates School San Francisco.
It's different from other pilates studios I've been to because they:
- Make private and small pilates classes more affordable, size-diverse, BIPOC and LBGTQIA-friendly and welcoming to people of all abilities.
- Are funny!
- Talk about your back behind your back. They write down how to best work with your body.
- Host fun events with food so teachers and students can get to know each other outside of class.
- Give gentle, consensual, hands-on corrections and notice asymmetry in my body to help me be more self-aware when I sit, stand, and move.
- Spend more time trying to heal me than my healthcare insurance providers can.

Pilates School SF is a fantastic, inclusive, responsive environment. I have gained strength and an understanding of my own body that helps me avoid injuries but allows me to push myself.

I loooove the pilates school SF!
I have had on and off injury for the last four years and I usually don't do group fitness because I usually can't keep up and I don't want to feel like a burden for needing accommodations. This has been the perfect place to build a pilates practice that works in harmony with my physical therapy. All of the instructors are knowledgable kind, patient and don't make assumptions that what will work for one person will work for another.
Thank you!

I love this place! I've been going for a few years now and my core and other muscle groups are stronger than they've ever been. Great program, great community. Very body positive. I always look forward to the fun personalities and hard workouts.

Recovery is a long process and finding knowledgeable, empathetic, and honest trainers (in anything) is key. I attempted Pilates 2 other times before finding this spot and truly believed it was not a physical hobby for my body because my back went out both times. I have worked with Rae and Rachel and they have helped me unlearn that belief! Pilates is for everyone - all bodies. Thank you for helping me see how capable my body is & how I can add Pilates into my life to support my other hobbies. I also feel so good about supporting a local San Franciscan business! And marshmallow the cat, keeps me motivated. If you are still hesitant about Pilates, I encourage you to call and visit the studio. This studio is unlike any other one. Hearts!!
Ps. I thrive on routine and steps and this studio is not a drop in studio, you are on a clear and set path for your individualized needs.

This is not your typical Pilates studio, this is truly an accredited school where the amazing and incredibly knowledgeable staff not only take time to understand your unique needs (body, previous injuries, and so many other things), they teach you about your body, and then work to teach you how to do Pilates. If you are looking for an inclusive diverse studio where you will get personal attention, truly learn how to do classical Pilates, and feel empowered in your physical health, check out this program.

Excellent. The whole team is informed, caring, and responsive to your body's needs. This was my first experience with Pilates as recommended by a PT, and I was a bit intimidated. They fully embraced me and helped me resolve seven years of chronic pain- and they're just great people. And there's a studio cat!

I've been working with Rachael and Ray for years now and they are both amazing trainers who really know bodies and how to get the most out of Classical Pilates for each client. Even with the last year they made it possible to keep up with our Pilates sessions by going online within a couple weeks of the first stay at home order.
These two are magic.

I was one of the first students to join the Pilates School SF and cannot emphasize enough on the positive impact the school and its instructors have had on me in the last 2+ years. Each of the instructors have helped me transform from being a person in chronic pain and anxiety due to poor posture and injuries to an almost pain-free person with a strong body and mind by focusing on the fundamentals. I have a newfound respect, understanding, and appreciation for how the body functions to support you as a person. This has been possible because of wonderful and patient instructors who genuinely care for your well-being and will work with you throughout your journey.
They worked with me to understand my goals and charted a strcutured plan with clear milestones focused on making progress and achieving my goals. I started with private sessions and over time moved to a combination of weekly private and group training session as I became focused on learning Pilates and progressing through various levels.
I have immense respect for Pilates and the school. I firmly believe every person needs to understand how the body works and how to take care of it to stay strong and fit to away from medications and pain as much as possible
