Our daughter has been doing this for about 9 months. It took us a long time to find something she really like. The mix of activities and the Commanders (instructors) have really helped her with self control, discipline, respect, athleticism, and confidence.

Looking forward to joining as an adult soon.

I've been shopping / trying different MMA gyms for my son (8 years old) for the past 2 years. We looked at everything from ju jitsu, kick boxing, taekwondo, etc. and none really captured my son's interest or really focused on growing his skills until Praxeum. Praxeum is unique in that it teaches both parkour and MMA. They engage the kids really well and teach them how to properly climb, fall, jump, roll, and guard and defend. They even teach them responsibility and strong focus and care, which is amazing. There's been a noticeable difference in my son and how he uses and applies these skills in our daily life outside of Praxeum. Their philosophy and dedication to the craft and the kids growth is what ultimately led us to committing with them. My son absolutely loves it here and claims it's one of his top favorite things in the world lol. And as a parent, I can confidently let him jump and climb things when we're out and about and know he'll be fine and living his best life using his awesome ninja parkour skills. Much love to the Commanders and the team for their hard work and dedication and making my son fall in love with MMA and parkour! If you've been looking for a great place for your kids, this is it.

I've been training with the Praxeum team for a while now and I highly recommend this program for other adults!
I was looking for something more practical and engaging than standard fitness classes, and this was the perfect fit. The program is a fantastic (and fun!) way to improve agility, flexibility, and focus.
The team also does an amazing job maintaining a caring and respectful community. You feel safe and in good hands here. Highly recommended!

I started both my boys at ahe 7&5 and after a few classes I saw the change in their discipline inside and outside of class. I love the philosophy of gratitude and living with purpose the instructors instilled in them. All instructors are amazing, they have high energy, are patient yet able to maintain firm boundaries with a class full of younger kids. The facility is clean, well ventilated and have state of the art material and equipment. They take safety very seriously. And above all, our kids absolutely LOVE going there, they have so much fun! You can be sure your child will have positive outcomes from attending these parcourt ninja classes. Sign up for a one on one trial and see for yourself.

Our kids just passed their level test and completely surprised their mom! We’re so proud of how much they’ve grown. Huge thanks to all the Commanders at Praxeum — they helped our kids not only develop great physical skills, but also build strong minds and learn to face challenges with confidence. Highly recommend the Praxeum team!

Our kid has been in this class for 6 months and it is a great well rounded class for the body and mind. I was struggling finding a good strength and fitness program for my 11 year old, because all sports activities like soccer or swimming are competitive at this age. We wanted something that helps builds his fitness in a non competitive way, and this is great. They do crunches and such that builds body strength, and teach cooperative martial arts and using that to navigate obstacles in parkour. Well structured classes and professional instructors. Highly recommend.

This class is awesome! My 5-year-old son absolutely loves it. He’s always been full of energy, climbing up and down everything, and this class teaches him how to do it safely while being mindful of his own well-being. I can see how much he’s learning and growing, and I would love for him to continue. I truly believe this class will benefit him greatly in the long term!

I truly love the atmosphere and programs here, and so does my child! Every coach is amazing at encouraging and inspiring kids while being very responsible. This is not just a simple physical training program — it provides kids with challenges on multiple levels. We especially enjoy the variety of team games — they not only help improve physical fitness but also foster collaboration and critical thinking. My child truly enjoys and looks forward to the weekly sessions.

I also appreciate the flexibility of the schedule, where we can freely choose weekly sessions and even freeze classes when needed to fit our family plans. It’s very thoughtful and family-friendly.

Honestly, this is by far the most satisfying program we’ve experienced in the Bay Area. Highly recommend!

I couldnt share enough positive things about The Praxeum, honestly - so this might be a long one.

Key takeaways:
Setting:
The Praxeum is a very clean gym! Their equipment looks well-taken care of and it's a really big spacious gym! Also, on that note, they have a plethora of great tools available for training - from ropes, bars, blocks or towers of all levels, trampolines, stepping blocks of all sizes, mats and many other equipment geared to create a safe but challenging obstacle for their members. There is ample seating area for families so that you can enjoy watching your little ones train and to sit comfortably while you wait for the class to finish. Restrooms are clean and always well-stocked.

Commanders:
The team is a small tight-knit group that are very well-versed and knowledgeable in the courses that they train. They are very kind and very welcoming, but are also very professional and focused when the classes start - which I appreciate. Above all, they really know how to make it fun for my little ones and encourage them to do their best in every skill that they learn. My favorite part is that they are really attentive with every kid they train. In our time joining The Praxeum, it seems as though the gym has grown significantly, yet the commanders are still able to keep in mind each detail (from strengths to weaknesses) of the many many people they train - my kids included and that speaks many volumes of dedication to me! I can tell that the commanders really invest themselves into all that they train and is one of the biggest reason why we see our kids long-term in this program.

Service:
20/10 rating. The Praxeum delivers on its promise. The training really drives my kids to learn outside of their comfort zone. It's great to see the kids get challenged and succeed because they are inspired to do more and do better. This part is important for me and my husband, because it is a solid foundation in life that our little ones can carry later on even when they are not in the program anymore. I also love that my kids are able to learn a more in-depth lesson on the art of working with others - no matter the size of the person, the strength, and the age. That's right, they allow all of their members to come together during their Guardian Games (the best week of all their training sessions) and work with one another to achieve the same goal - so awesome! This is aside from the physical skills that they learn. My son is becoming more and more flexible and his hand-eye coordination is getting so much better. My daughter, on the other hand, doesn't have an issue with this. But my son, who is very timid and can be pretty clumsy, is starting to move a lot differently. I can tell that he is more aware of his physical movements and abilities after being in the program for almost 6 months. I can go on and on about this bit of my review but I think I was already able to highlight enough of my favorite takeaways from the program. The biggest thing for me and my husband is that The Praxeum is a gateway to a lot of critical skills that our kids can apply in the regular world and we truly appreciate what the whole program instills in our little ones.

We have been raving about The Praxeum to all our friends and family. And I highly recommend this gym to everyone. If you're shopping around for a program like this anywhere in the bay, I say look no more. This is the place you want to be. It is affordable, it has structure, and it delivers what it promises! 117% satisfied customers 😊

The Praxeum in San Jose is one of our favorite places for our kids to challenge their physicality, calm and control their unbounded energy, and grow their sense of self and responsibility to others. Our kids love working with their coach Commander James who does an amazing job pushing their limits and inspiring their little improvements while still emphasizing safety and control in all of their exercises. I highly recommend both the Praxeum and Commander James to parents of energetic children who want to challenge their physical abilities and who would benefit from building a purposeful mindset about their roles and responsibilities within our community.

Our son has been a student at The Praxeum (fka Nexus) for a few years now. He started going when they were still located in Fremont. After relocating to San Jose, which became a weekly 30 min drive to practice for us, we had to make the decision to stop going. Our son understood, but after missing it so much, he asked if we could make the drive out to San Jose so he could continue going. When he's very passionate about something, he's very serious. So we took this to heart and decided to send him back to the practice he loves so much.

He enjoys it for the physical aspect as well as the cultural teachings which are helping to shape him and push his growth. It's a great place to focus his energy on while learning discipline and focus. The instructors are insightful and care for the growth of their students. Our son respects and enjoys learning from his commander. Management is wonderful to work with as well. Condor, the owner, is patient and always willing to take the time to explain their policies and procedures.

Overall, it's been a great experience for our son as he continues to level up. Our only regret is that it's not closer, but it was enough to make the drive to keep the commitment.

The Praxeum has been truly transformative for our son. After nearly six years of training here, we’ve seen incredible growth in his confidence, empathy, and focus. The instructors are not only skilled but deeply committed to nurturing each child’s development—mentally, emotionally, and physically. What really sets this gym apart is its emphasis on inclusion, empathy, and respect, all woven into the culture from day one. Our son has been going to The Praxeum for just under six months, and he absolutely loves it! He’s really connected with the discipline, the environment, and especially his commanders. As parents, we’re super impressed by the clean, well-kept facilities and how dedicated everyone is to the students.

We’ve noticed a big boost in his confidence since he started. He’s tried a few martial arts places before, but none of them really clicked like this one has. He actually looks forward to every class, and that says a lot! We’re so happy we found The Praxeum—it’s been such a positive experience for our whole family.

My son started a few months ago and when I came in I was worried about my son being too active and possibly not able to focus on the curriculum but the coaches were so patient with both me and my son throughout this experience. Not only has my son’s focus improved so much he also has such a fun time here and has made a few buddies. It has been such a wonderful experience watching my son grow and become so fearless in the process. He can jump and do the perfect shoulder roll and is so proud to show everyone his new skills, I love how flexible the schedule is and how understanding the coaches are. We are taking a summer break but plan to incorporate this program for a very long time in my son’s Journey! Thanks Praxeum 🤍

We heard about Praxeum from a parent at our son’s former gymnastics class…and never looked back! :) Not only is it super fun and fast paced (climbing, rolling, jumping, running, MMA, etc.) - the overarching philosophy behind it (ability to serve as a guardian for others in the community), gives Praxeum in such a unique and meaningful purpose. The instructors embody kindness and discipline, which creates an atmosphere of positive vibes and accountability within the classes and open gym sessions. I love that a place devoted to creating badass protectors exists, and love that my son is a part of it.

Guardian Arts/parkour, or ninja class as we like to call it, has done very different things for my very different boys and I just can’t recommend it enough. My eldest (11) is a brainiac while my youngest (6) is at least part spider monkey.

We noticed early on that our oldest’s mind was constantly preoccupied and didn’t have anything to spare for body/spatial awareness. He would seriously just randomly fall down while walking or even while standing still. After 6 months of parkour, he stopped randomly falling over and started using our living room like an obstacle course: climbing everything and doing shoulder rolls off the couch. Through top notch instruction and their decked out padded gym at the Praxium, Guadian Arts continue to forge that connection between his body and mind that just wasn’t a priority for his brain.

Now my youngest is a different story. His body/spatial awareness was well developed from the get-go. The problem was he was constantly hurting himself climbing, running, jumping on/off/through everything in sight. Guardian Arts has given him the techniques to do these things safely and an outlet for his wiggles.

Our living room is still an obstacle course as far as our kids are concerned but we’re not seriously considering putting them in helmets anymore! Anyways, a big thanks to their instructors for one less worry! Can’t recommend this place enough.

A Fantastic Program for Kids to Thrive!

The Praxeum MMA Parkour Youth Program is truly outstanding! My kids have not only gained incredible physical strength, agility, and confidence but have also grown emotionally through this well-structured and supportive program. The instructors are highly skilled and know how to engage kids in a way that makes learning fun, challenging, and rewarding.

What sets this program apart is its perfect blend of discipline and creativity. The mix of MMA and parkour keeps kids active, motivated, and excited to attend every session. It’s amazing to see them push their limits, conquer obstacles (both physical and mental), and build a strong sense of resilience.

Beyond the physical benefits, the program fosters teamwork, discipline, and self-esteem. The supportive environment ensures that every child, regardless of skill level, feels encouraged and valued. The transformation in confidence and focus is evident in how they carry themselves outside of class as well.

If you're looking for an exceptional program that helps kids thrive physically and emotionally, The Praxeum is the place to be! Highly recommended!

My youngest child is a daredevil. Initially, I was looking for a place that would teach her how to land safely! What we've gotten from The Praxeum was MUCH MORE than that. She has learned confidence, teamwork, discipline, and most importantly GRIT. Many youngsters are afraid to fail these days - they give up or are never try at all. Parkour allows students to try and try again - learning from their mistakes, making adjustments, and finding success through their perseverance. The commanders are all OUTSTANDING. They know each kid's name, they are encouraging and patient, they challenge and share their passion for guardian art. In addition to how well classes are run, the bigger lesson is how students are taught to have great care for others around them. They are challenged to protect the object/people of their strongest care. As a teacher/mom/coach, these classes are VERY well done! Kudos to The Praxeum!

This class was out of my comfort zone, but everyone was so encouraging and supportive! I liked how the philosophy of this studio was feeling discomfort in a way where it challenges you to be better and try again amidst failure. I tried things I’ve never done before and was surprised I could do them! Instructors were very attentive and I felt safe to do the stunts in class. I attended Praxeum as a very large staff group outing! They checked us in, led a group huddle to go over safety and proper form for things like landing and how to handle the accessories, and then we dove head first into obstacle courses. It was a lot of fun, very challenging, and I wish we had warmed up a bit more. But they managed a huge group of probably 30 people, and were still very mindful, encouraging, and pushed us to improve or fail better with each course. Would highly recommend! It’s a great way to build teamwork and burn a lot of calories.

Did a 25 adult team building event here with my staff and it was probably the most fun a bunch of adults could have together!! They started off with some instructions on how to jump and land safely, then warmed us up with some simple challenges to get us into groups. From there we did different obstacle courses — jumping and learning to climb and cartwheel through the obstacles. Lastly, we did a large group teamwork activity playing the floor is lava and trying to get everyone onto a tower. It was a Blast!

Aside from just being really good exercise, the team at the Praxeum made sure we were safely executing the challenges. They broke us up into smaller teams and each team had a coach/spotter who would guide us through the obstacles. Love that they teach about movement that goes beyond getting from point A to B but to help others and care for others as well while you’re doing it.

I’ve seen their children’s program and I love their concept of the kids training to become guardians to help others and keep people safe. It’s an amazing environment for a kid to be in all while channeling their immense energy into something that’s healthy too!

Would highly highly recommend this for kids, adults, and any companies looking for a team

I appreciate their curriculum, but they have no regard for kids' safety. They are very pushy and don't focus on teaching the technique to the kids. My child experienced muscle cramps multiple times and once couldn't walk properly after class. When I called the office to request a cancellation, they showed no concern for my child's condition and instead demanded a doctor's certificate for cancellation. I explained that I would visit the doctor if the muscle issue didn’t improve within a day. Without any prior notification, they canceled my membership and charged a 50% fee. I don’t believe this is the right place if you want your child to learn in a safe environment

The instructor, known as “Golden Fire,” is fantastic with kids! He has an incredible way of capturing their attention and striking their interests with fun and engaging ninja moves. Our son, Liam, was absolutely thrilled after his first class and couldn’t stop talking about it.

The gym has very flexible hours, which is perfect for busy parents like us. We were so impressed that we signed up for a half-year session right away, and it has been worth every penny. Liam loves every class and is always eager to come back for more.

Praxeum is truly a standout place for kids and adults alike. What I love most is how it seamlessly blends discipline, physical fitness, and mental growth in a way I haven’t seen anywhere else. It’s not just parkour, and it’s not just MMA—it’s a unique hybrid that keeps care, respect, and personal development at its heart.

The instructors are incredibly dedicated and serious about what they do. They push the kids not just to move, but to improve, helping them overcome physical and mental challenges in ways that build confidence and technique. The challenges here are no joke—they’re tough but rewarding, encouraging kids to push through fear while being supported along the way.

What really sets Praxeum apart is their emphasis on the care of others. The tests aren’t just about checking boxes; they’re meaningful assessments that push students to grow, starting from a young age. It’s amazing to see how much thought and intention goes into every aspect of the curriculum.

The gym itself is huge, with state-of-the-art equipment, and it’s clear that everything is designed with excellence in mind. I highly recommend Praxeum for anyone—kids or adults—looking for a truly unique and transformative experience. There’s really nothing quite like it.

The Best Coaches! I love the concept they teach. It's more teamwork amongst the kids, caring for life, protection and respect rather than competition. My daughter has learned so much and applies what they teach in her regular life.

My son joined The Praxeum 9 months ago, and it has been an incredible experience from day one. The instructors are highly skilled, patient, friendly, and passionate about what they do, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for kids of all ages. They strike the perfect balance between pushing the kids to challenge themselves while keeping it fun and safe. Not only has my son improved his strength, confidence, and mental toughness through parkour, but he has also gained a deeper understanding of discipline, love, care, and self-awareness through their unique approach to guardian art.

I highly recommend The Praxeum. It has been an amazing journey for my son, and I’m excited to see him continue to grow here.

My son has been learning parkour and mma at The Praxeum for around 3 months.

His physical agility, coordination, and confidence has signifcantly improved with the lessons he has learned here.

The instructors are friendly and work really well with kids (there are lessons for teenagers and adults too).

Children will have fun and be challenged with the training, improving their physical abilities and mental fortitude.

Another important attribute of the lessons is the instructors teach the need to care and be responsible towards others.

I highly recommend The Praxeum!

We've been going here for a few months and my son absolutely loves it. Original we were looking at gymnastics options for him but he wanted something more fun and parkour was perfect for him.
I love that he gets to learn self defense, MMA and then do fun stuff. I also like the teaching of instilling courage, love, care and a strong mind.
It's great that parents can also do the class at the same time during the weekend. I find the class to be pretty difficult. Someday I enjoy it. Someday I don't because it's just hard, but I love that I get do do this together with my kids.

Describing the classes and approach of the Praxeum can be hard in that I've never seen anything like it. Yes, it heavily borrows form and teaches many of the fundamentals of Parkour. But it isn't a 'parkour gym'. Yes, it draws heavily from Tae Kwon Do and MMA and other martial arts. But it isn't any one of those things. It is something wholly unique and truly amazing to behold.

Whereas something like Bruce Lee's Jeet Kun Do advocates learning and pulling from all martial arts disciplines in order to be the most well-rounded fighter you can be, Praxeum's goal isn't to produce a bunch of fighters. Quite the opposite.

To understand how the elements fit together and why they all complement each other so well, you have to understand the philosophy of the Praxeum – to teach and train guardians. Those who are willing to defend and protect not only themselves, but others. Thus, whereas so many martial arts are simply about self-defense, The Praxeum is aspiring to something much bigger and more profound – raising the next generation of strong, confident, leaders, who will advocate not just for themselves, but for others and especially for those that can't do it themselves. Community defense, if you will.

But to make that happen, you have to teach more than just kicks, and punches and jumps and rolls. You have to teach values, humility, respect and team spirit. And this is where the Praxeum truly separates itself from anything and everything I have seen and experienced before. In all aspect of the programs and training, teamwork and problem-solving are emphasized and seamlesly integrated. Often, this is through play and games, so it usually feels more like play than work, despite the very real gains in confidence, skill and technique that we are seeing in our child and the others in the classes. Their approach has been polished and honed over the past decade, and the results have to be experienced to be understood and fully appreciated.

I can not recommend the Praxeum highly enough, and can't wait to see the impact that these future leaders will make in their communities and the world–our future protectors and guardians.

The Praxeum gym invited our agency, the American Indian Child Resource Center, to a free workshop, specifically for our after school program youth.

The "Guardian Workshop" was an incredibly fun and engaging workshop that focused on team building within the framework of parkour. The workshop culminated in a "floor is lava" type activity the required communication, strategy and precision. Our students and staff all had an incredibly time. We highly reccomend checking out the gym!

I found the Praxeum approximately 4 months ago. One of my children began exhibiting anxiety symptoms which prompted my husband and me to look for a program that would benefit our child both physically AND mentally.
I saw a short promotional video on the Praxeum's website and I was convinced that their program could be exactly what my child needed.
Fast forward 4 months and my child's physical and mental health have improved DRAMATICALLY! I feel genuinely emotional by the difference we've noticed in my child. Through the Praxeum's program, our child has learned to trust his physical abilities and this confidence has helped ease much of the anxiety he was experiencing.
Every child is different and I can only speak for what I've experienced with my own child, but I DO recommend the Praxeum to all the parents I know and meet. Don't hesitate to give this program a try... you won't regret it!

I joined The Praxeum 6 years ago when I was 13 years old, when I was starting classes I had no prior experience with parkour or mma but the teaching method of the Commanders (Instructors) teaching each student the same move but at different grades based on their abilities. Over time each student moves to higher and higher grades until they can do the move. I stuck at it and went through the basic levels and was promoted to Sun Clan where while the curriculum becomes more advanced the main lesson is to have positive energy for others and to work together. These lessons helped me learn to communicate effectively and positively with others not only during my training but out in the world with people I worked with and went to school with. Overall this training helps people grow not only physically but in interpersonal abilities. I would recommend this training to anyone of any ability. It won’t be easy but the payoffs are worth it.

Praxeum gym has made a huge difference in our son’s life. He was having a hard time with friends, confidence and bullying when we moved to the area. This program really helped his confidence and fitness. And he’s joyful and enthusiastic about attending every session. He joined mostly for the Parkour but found he enjoys the self-defense lessons too. This gym’s biggest asset is an absolutely AMAZING staff of coaches/commanders who care for and challenge the kids. The level of patience they show is mind blowing. I would absolutely recommend this program. 5 stars!!!

Almost three years in, Praxeum remains my daughter's "favorite thing of all." We followed Praxeum from Fremont to San Jose when the business relocated, enduring a long commute but feeling fortunate and grateful to have such a wonderful program nearby. Praxeum is a unique program, rooted in Native Indian traditions yet incorporating modern martial arts elements to create its own unique curriculum. Spiritually, it cultivates "Guardians" who commit to helping and protecting those they care about. It teaches self-defense and parkour techniques as pathways to personal growth, focusing on physical and mental strength and encouraging teamwork.

To an outsider visiting during class, Praxeum might look like a training ground for the next generation of action movie stars. However, all the training and Guardian Art games are designed to nurture young minds towards independence, courage, self-discipline, perseverance, and carrying forward the art of caring. Kids often fall in love with the program at first sight because of the cool activities like obstacle courses, rolling, spinning, wrestling, and grappling. Over time, they discover a complex and comprehensive program that is broken down into stages, making the art accessible without requiring full-time training.

It may take a year or more to pass the "Dawn Trial," which marks the beginning of the Journey Track phase where more advanced physical skills are taught. But the journey to the "Dawn Trial" is both challenging and fun for the kids. The skills they learn, the bruises they earn, the milestones they reach, and the tests they pass all contribute to their pride, confidence, and maturity. During this phase, they receive extensive feedback, attention, and encouragement to overcome numerous physical and mental challenges as beginners. After the "Dawn Trial," kids embark on a long Journey Track, exploring the arts more deeply with partners and instructors. Some adults, including parents, join the program and enjoy it just as much as the kids.

What makes Praxeum engaging for kids is its ever-evolving nature, keeping the program challenging, engaging, and rewarding. My daughter, who usually struggles with attention, is incredibly focused here because she needs to commit both physically and mentally to excel, constantly challenging her own comfort zone. The classes change weekly in setup and practice methods, making each session feel like a new adventure. My daughter is always eager to attend Praxeum, and she leaves each class exhausted yet proud and satisfied.

Besides the structured classes, the open-floor sessions are a blast for kids. This is a time when they are free to rearrange the course setup—moving blocks, mats, and trampolines—and practice whatever they wish. Instructors are always on hand for safety, offering guidance and interacting with the kids. This is also a time for parents to talk with the owner and instructors to better understand the program. The owner and instructors are open about their philosophy on the arts and the strategies they employ to nurture young minds. They are explorers of the arts themselves and always prioritize the arts over business decisions. Kids learn by observing them and by exploring alongside them.

To see if your child would thrive at Praxeum, I recommend taking a trial class. Unlike regular group classes, trial classes are usually one-on-one, more like an interview to assess mutual fit. Recommendations are made based on the child's interest in the class content and their ability to follow instructions. Although boys might outnumber girls in these classes, girls like my daughter don’t mind. In fact, she finds it cooler, especially when she boasts about "beating" a boy in class.

I’m an adult who has dedicated most of my life to martial arts and have done Wushu, Sanda, Judo, and Muay Thai. This is not meant to bag on those arts, because I liked them all, but Guardian Art is on a whole different level. I originally enrolled for the parkour, and was blown away to find myself learning more about fighting than in any other martial art I’ve done. Quantity wise, they don’t teach as many fighting techniques as some other places, but they have you get a deeper comprehension of how to apply the techniques they do teach. It is without a doubt, more effective and practical than any martial art I’ve tried.

Our seven year old has been going to and training with The Praxeum (Guardian Art) for over three years. While a lot of things in his life have changed, training at The Praxeum has been the one constant in his life that helps him to feel secure and happy. Our son is suffering from ADD and has difficulty focusing. The Praxeum and its wonderful instructors have taught him to focus, control his energy, protect himself, and instill the principles of helping and protecting others.

We firmly believe training with this organization has also benefited him in school and in daily life. We consider ourselves fortunate to have found and be a part of the Guardian Art organization. To us, Guardian Art and The Praxeum studio is also a community of teachers, parents, and individuals who together contribute to and improve the city and the Bay Area.

Been going for well over 8-9 years now, and all I have to say is, this is the praxeum (formerly nexus) provides the perfect enviroment and teachings to really let you grow and learn.

The instructors are amazing, they know all their students, and instruction quality is top notch.

Many of the reviews mention a lot with smaller children and pre-teens, but if you are older, or an adult, the classes are also very well suited for you.

Classes are split via age, with age 13+ being one group.
There are people of all age ranges in this group, and the instructors/curriculum also engages them well. So if you happen to be a teenager or older, expect a more rigorous curriculum, of course, since many of the teachings can be applied regardless of age, and are more dependent on weight (especially during sparring), you will be paired with a partner of a similar size, to ensure both can give it their best

For a rather brief view on the course teachings (not the philosophy)
At the first level, it primarily focuses on basic parkour, and how to do it safely and basic wrestling, primarily takedowns, and setting up some chokeholds

The philosophy is the main teaching of the praxeum being "Guardian Art"
Its primary difference is from "martial art" is that its goal is to protect others/things, and thats what everything you learn here is supposed to go to, be it family members, land, or culture, GA teaches you how to honor and protect it to your best capabilities

I am a teen who has been going to guardian art for a few years now. It is a very chill environment and good facility. Helped me boost confidence, learn discipline, and appreciate the outdoors on a whole new level. I have learned a lot from The Praxeum and enjoy it. I have sparred with, rolled with, and beat other martial artist friends with ranks ranging from brown belts - green belts, and done pretty well against my friends in other martial arts like wrestlers, karatekas, judokas, kung fu (purple, red, and brown belts) in under half the time it took them to get there. Very fun, but more intense sparring here compared to when I did kung fu and karate. Experience significant change in my cardio, biceps, triceps, and just my body in general. Outdoor trainings are amazing too. Many people in/were in Muay Thai, Karate, Kung Fu, Taekwondo, and MMA say the training is better, and I am sure many others experience same.

Our experience with Praxes has been great! My 6yr old son has been attending since last summer, and it's been an incredible journey for him. He absolutely loves it! Not only does he enjoy the sport itself, but he's constantly eager to showcase the skills he's learned at home.

The facilities here are top-notch. It's a safe environment with very professional settings. I bet it has the best facilities among similar parkour gyms in bay area. Safety is a priority, especially for young kids, and it shows in every aspect of the gym.

The instructors, or as my son calls them "commanders," are great. They're not just skilled coaches but also incredibly patient and friendly. Their dedication to teaching kids in a fun and safe manner truly stands out.

If you as a parent are seeking an active outlet for your kid, this place is a gem. It's hard to find another place in bay area that offers such a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for active kids.

Despite they moving to the current location which is farther from us, we made the decision to stay because of the fantastic experience they provide. That's how much we value this place!

If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to have more class schedules available to choose from.

Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. It's right for kids who love being active and challenges, and the quality of instruction and facilities here are truly unparalleled.👍👍👍

The Praxeum inspired everyone to get their fun on. Fantastic and knowledgeable instructors, open and clean facilities, and above all, an overall vibe of inspiration to try new things. The Praxeum is a place for all ages to engage in movement in a safe environment. I loved the bouncing and tumbling air mattress thing. The kids loved the obstacles and climbing towers. The classes are an excellent next step for kids who take gymnastics. My child was able to do a front flip for the first time after being coached at The Praxeum. I was a competitive gymnast for four years before I started training at The Praxeum, which I've now been at for almost five years. As someone who has trained in both worlds, I've definitely seen the difference in the learning environment, and consequently, the growth of my skills at The Praxeum. While competitive gymnastics prioritizes performing for judges, The Praxeum has taught me skills and techniques that I can use in real life. Whereas in gymnastics, we were taught to be constantly competing with each other and our instructors heavily prioritized winning, and as a young girl that was very harmful. At The Praxeum I have always felt supported and uplifted even through difficult learning blocks. Beyond mastering physical skills, The Praxeum also emphasizes the importance of mental and emotional diligence. I highly recommend this gym!

A great learning curriculum and community. We chose this over jujitsu and taekwondo because it was unique and our son was really into the parkour training. Their culture is based on instilling “strong mind, strong care” and the art of the hero being someone who takes care of others, which creates both a competitive and collaborative environment amongst the kids. We love this program for the structure and discipline it instills, as well as being a weekly workout for athletic conditioning and mental strength. Not only will it teach kids how to confront and conquer fear and the idea of limits, it teaches them how to respect and trust each other. Instructors are young and relate well to the kids, while leading by example. Overall, excellent program and very supportive community.

When I was younger, I knew alot of people who took martial arts classes at different schools nearby and it was something I always wanted to do but never got around to. By the time I started training, many of those people were already black belts at their schools. By the time I was training at guradian art for only three years (half the time people at other schools were training), I was able to beat every single one of those black belts in sparing. Since then, I have have fought and won against black belts in Kung Fu, Karate, Judo, and Taekwondo. This is a common experience for other students at guardian art as well. When comparing the training with my black belt friends... it seems like the fighting at Guardian Art is a lot more intense. On top of that, I got to learn allot of flips and parkour stuff.

Here’s my review of The Praxeum, in which my 8 year old son has been attending the last five months. They focus a lot on discipline – it's not just about getting stronger, it's about building character and teaching my kid the importance of respect and responsibility. (Strong Mind, Strong Care, Strong Body)

With the proper parkour techniques being thought, every session feels like we're in an action movie, and it's all about finding that balance between challenge and fun. They've even thrown in a bit of grappling – making it a full-on, no-nonsense, well-rounded fitness experience.

But the real heroes here are the instructors. These guys are the backbone of the operation, delivering guidance in a way that connects with both the little kids and older ones - creating an atmosphere that's not just a gym; it's a powerhouse of motivation and growth.

The Praxeum is more than just a place for physical activity. It's like a training ground where my son is not just learning moves but building bonds, gaining confidence, and becoming a the best version of himself. If you're a parent looking for a gym that's no-nonsense, high-energy, and all about personal development and community, I wholeheartedly recommend The Praxeum!

In 2016, I embarked on a weight loss journey and was on the lookout for ways to transform myself physically and mentally. As someone who admired martial arts, acrobatics, and the excitement of the UFC, I thought I had stumbled upon the perfect place when I discovered The Praxeum, a martial arts gym that specialized in Guardian Art (a special fusion of all three). Little did I know, this decision would do more than just help me shed pounds; it would redefine who I was and how I navigated life.

Back then, I was emerging from a challenging period in my life. I lacked self-confidence, felt directionless in my job, and often hesitated to assert myself. I felt like a shadow of the person I wanted to be. However, from the moment I joined this remarkable school, I could sense a transformation taking place. Within six months, my confidence had soared, and I was gaining a profound understanding of my identity and purpose. After a year of dedication, I had shed 50 pounds, built a healthier physique, and initiated significant positive changes in my life.

Guardian Art at The Praxeum was the catalyst for my remarkable transformation. It instilled in me a newfound strength, both physically and mentally. The impact extended far beyond the dojo's walls. I returned to my job with renewed vigor, steadily climbing the ranks from dispatcher to supervisor, manager, and eventually director.

I genuinely believe that I wouldn't be the person I am today, or where I am today, if it weren't for The Praxeum and its Guardian Art program. It has unquestionably changed the trajectory of my life, elevating my physical abilities, bolstering my mental resilience, and guiding me toward my purpose. I wholeheartedly recommend The Praxeum to anyone seeking a powerful path to self-discovery and personal empowerment. It's a place where you can strengthen your mind and body, allowing you to realign with your true purpose and become the best version of yourself, no matter which world you serve.

In the last two years, I have seen him grow by leaps and bounds. His confidence has increased so much, as has his resilience. The instructors have such an incredible way of encouraging students to strive for their best, work hard without giving up, and provide unwavering support for one another. They also work hard to give back to the Indigenous community, which is a wonderful example to set for young people. After years of trying various extracurricular activities, it was Guardian Art that ended up being what my son loves. Learning to do many difficult kinds of flips has been his favorite part! Guardian art has been such an amazing program for my family. We started this program in July 2019 and I immediately fell in love with it. The program is very well rounded and has kept my kids active and healthy in both their mind and body.
Some of the things that make guardian art stand out from other activities that have helped us tremendously:

-Animating.
Unlike other martial arts practices that focus on clearing the mind, the mindfulness program they use actively engages the mind and walks them through how they are going to approach the next hour. It helps them envision themselves doing the actions before physically going into it as well as approaching the time with a feeling of care. My oldest has ADHD and this kind of mindfulness has been extremely helpful in managing her focus issues without medication.

Strong Mind, strong care-
This is the guardian philosophy and they make sure every session about what it means. They walk them through examples and ask them questions, they get the kids thinking about what they've done with their strong mind and strong care and ask them how they will practice these things outside of class. As a result of this program, my children actively concern themselves with others and the environment. They show strong care for nature, pick up trash when they are out and about, and encourage others not to litter. They are also on watch for bullying and are not afraid to step into a situation to speak up for a friend who is being teased and is too soft spoken to stand up for themselves.

Spirit running-
This is the parkour aspect of the program. My kids specifically come from a very athletic background. My husband's family has a lot of professional athletes, one being on the US Women's soccer team and another recently bringing home a world medal for velodrome cycling. Due to these athletic genes, my kids have been very active and crazy from a young age. Thanks to this program, I do not need to helicopter around them at the park in fear that they will hurt themselves jumping off of something too high or dropping down from the monkey bars while I was pushing the baby in the swing. They know how to land from high places, they know how to get themselves down when they are stuck. This kind of self sufficiency will no doubt grow into a life skill as an adult and I am glad we could foster that in a safe way.

All in all, we are very thankful for this program and how it has helped shape our children's growth. We are thankful that NXGA has been a part of our village

The Praxeum teaches Guardian Art, a fusion of disciplines similar to martial arts and parkour, rooted in indigenous heritage and clan medicines. It’s all about protecting others, descending from Guardians across tribes who protected their people. They basically train you to be a ninja, training inner strength and transformation, focusing and growing those feelings of care and appreciation, bringing these into training to protect the things you care about. Very inspiring and fun place to be a part of if you’re passionate about self-development, movement, free running, or martial arts. This is also an amaaaaaaazing place for kids to develop great values, empathy, courage and etc. early on in life.

My kids were students at the former NXGA location in Fremont for the past 18 months. I love the structure of the classes and interaction with the commanders. My children find the instruction and class content to be much more engaging, fun, and challenging than similar “ninja” programs. We’re happy to continue lessons at the new studio “The Praxeum” in San Jose! Can’t wait to start recruiting our friends in the South Bay 😄

My son has grown tremendously during his time at NXGA, which is now the Praxeum. It has been a pleasure to witness the growth in his strength, agility, control, and focus but the part that blows me away is the confidence they have instilled in him. Condor, Goldenfire and James have developed a unique and awesome program that can be found nowhere else. They develop Guardians and teach the kids to be strong in mind, body and spirit.

One of the best programs for my 10 year old!! There's nothing else like this.
Since being part of The Praxeum (Guardian), my son is motivated to make progress, can regulate his own emotions with kids at school, not only stands up to bullies but defends his friends when they get bullied, have built relationships with each commanders, and most of all can do really cool tricks and is so proud of himself.
Among kids, there's no judgement or attitude. They just support and cheer each other on. Open gym is a great opportunity to come and practice with others.
Highly recommend to all kids and adults. I hope they continue to grow and someday have multiple locations throughout the Bay area.

My son loves it here! He says he enjoys the challenge, the workout, and making friends. He really likes the combination of parkour and grappling/sparring, it is a very unique setup. The instructors focus a lot on teaching safety techniques and there are always lots of instructors helping and keeping an eye on things. I especially love how the program focuses on helping each other rather than only trying to beat each other.

This school has helped me confront my fears and conquer movements and techniques that I thought I would never be able to do in my previous 4 years of martial arts training. I am so grateful to be able to take part in such a breakthrough program, and I appreciate everything this place has taught me. From what I can see, this school teaches kids as well as adults the core values and practices of a strong community culture, on top of physical and mental skills to break through each students' personal barriers. Highly recommend.

We’ve been apart of the Praxeum (formerly known as Nexus) Guardian Art family for under a year. Our son has improved his self confidence, developed his physical and mental strength, he’s more disciplined, and we couldn’t be more grateful for all the commanders who’ve guided him in the short period of time. Happy to be apart of the this community!

Kids love it and families recommend it !!

I strongly recommend it to all families who are looking for an overall fitness program for kids. The classes are a unique blend of parkour and MMA and teaches life skills like discipline, courage and gratitude with rigor and fun. The instructors (Commanders) are very experienced, knowledgeable, disciplined and make every session a great learning experience !!

My daughter, who is six years old now, has been taking classes at this institute for over 2 years now. The Guardian Art institute was in Fremont and has now moved to San Jose as Praxeum (Guardian Arts). And we commute from Fremont to benefit from its offerings. The training and teachings has benefited her in gaining physical strength, becoming mentally strong and a team player. She is being taught to be courageous, have gratitude, and care for everyone.

Our experiences in Praxeum have been outstanding!
Since enrolling in the Guardian Art lessons, my 15 years old daughter and 12 years old son have experienced a significant improvement in their physical fitness, discipline, and self-confidence. The training and continuous practices have not only made them physically stronger but have also instilled in them a strong sense of discipline and determination. These qualities have permeated into various aspects of their life, helping them excel academically, set and achieve goals, and make responsible choices.

Additionally, The Praxeum has nurtured a feeling of inclusivity within our community. This place has become a hub for individuals of all ages to come together, train, and build strong friendships. This sense of unity and support extends beyond the walls of the training facility and into our neighborhood, promoting a stronger and more compassionate community.

I appreciate the life lessons these leaders (commanders) have imparted, such as humility, perseverance, and the importance of giving back to the community. Their emphasis on character development and the values of martial arts has not only made my children better martial artists but also better human beings. The supportive and friendly atmosphere makes it a welcoming place for all levels! Thanks and keep up the good work, we are happy to be a part of this wonderful community!!

I can’t recommend this place enough!

Seven years ago I was looking for a new gym to practice parkour. Found the Praxeum. Then, in my late 30s, I noticed that most the students were between the ages of 5-12. I was impressed with the level of rigor and quality of curriculum. So after a few months I signed up my two boys (then 5 & 7).
They've come a long way in their development. Not just physical, Guardian Art emphasizes teamwork and helping others. They're regularly applying skills to be more and better versions of themselves. After all these years, still can't recommend it enough.

My 10 year old son has been taking classes at the Praxeum (Guardian Arts) for about a year and half. He had not been that enthusiastic about activities that I signed him up for in the past - including soccer, basketball, kung fu, gymnastics, and chess. After attending a camp at the Praxeum, he asked me to sign him up for classes. This has been the only activity that my son has wanted to continue doing. The instructors teach discipline, but are also able to be extremely positive and encouraging. While I did not see my son learn discipline in previous kung fu classes, I saw him learn more self control, responsibility, and maturity at the Praxeum. At one practice, he was not in the proper place when it was time to start class and had a consequence. At the next class, I saw him on his own, look at the time, go to the correct spot, and get in the proper focus position before class started. I was really amazed to see this. His focus has improved and he said it is because he is forced to stay on task in Guardian Arts.

I also started taking classes at the Praxeum about 2 months ago. It is a lot of fun for adults. I've noticed a wide range in ability and fitness level in the adults in the beginner class and they modify the instruction to keep it challenging for some and not too scary for others.

We live in North Fremont and when they moved from Fremont to San Jose, we decided to continue to train with the Praxeum because we really think this is special and unique organization.

Our ADHD son was kicked out of elementary school for bad behavior and this was the only exercise program that allowed him to stay. Now six years later he just started high school, is doing very well and I credit this program with really helping him out. It gave him a safe, fun place to burn off his immense energy, while teaching him to channel his anger, handle his fight-or-flight adrenaline, and most importantly to care for others. Our son loves the members, staff and activities. It’s the only team sport we can get him off a video game for. We are glad they found this new, nicer, larger location in a trendy converted old warehouse.

We love this new location of The Praxeum (Guardian Art)!

The Praxeum (Guardian Art) is a family oriented organization that provides a safe and diverse environment for the community to train their physical fitness. My two kids have been training here for 3+ years in the previous location, and I can see the positive impact the program has on them. Not only did they enjoy the physical challenges of the obstacle course and grew stronger physically, they also learned about taking care of other students in class. The instructors are always patient and work with the kids to instill a sense of discipline and respect where teamwork is always encouraged during training.

Most importantly, this is a place where kids can learn to fall and get up on their feet again, and a place where they can safely build up their confidence. I myself started training at The Praxeum (Guardian Art) last year as well, after seeing how my kids benefited from the program. Despite having to make the 45 min drive each way to class (we live in San Mateo), we still insist on attending class at least twice a week and it has become an important part of our lives and well being. There is simply no other similar programs like The Praxeum (Guardian Art) in the Bay Area!

After years of searching for something that could offer intense, disciplined physical training in a healthy environment, we finally found The Praxeum. It was a dream come true: a one-of-its-kind gem of a program! The concept of care for others is an essential aspect of their training, and they temper the demanding physical challenges with a culture of encouragement, support, and gratitude.

It has made a world of difference to our son! All of his best friends are Praxeum friends, and he holds the teachers in the highest esteem. The Praxeum offers a program for both youth and adults with several features that are difficult or impossible to find paired with sports elsewhere:
● A gym culture with an emphasis on protecting or helping others and succeeding as a group by supporting and encouraging one another
● Intense physical and mental training without a need to compete
● Opportunities for our youth to support underserved youth through the associated non-profit organization
● Opportunities for outdoor training for advanced students to put their skills to work in real-world environments
● Guided meditation incorporated into training sessions to allow for clear-minded focus
● A training environment in which teachers are respected because of their expertise and authority, but also because they respect their students
● A training environment in which all are treated equally and given the same opportunities for advancement: boys, girls, women, and men
● A truly diverse community in every way since there is a great mix of ethnicities, ages, genders, and backgrounds

I could not recommend this program
more enthusiastically!

This is a very special program and community. I have 2 kids who are students at The Praxeum! I’ve seen both of then unlock something inside of themselves that we didn’t even know existed.

My son, who at first was super shy and uncoordinated, has learned to be brave while caring and protecting others. His confidence has skyrocketed and he’s even doing flips now! My daughter has learned she is strong and can defend herself and be fearless. She’s learned to unleash the dragon and face challenges with grit! Both have learned about their bodies and minds and have gained leadership skills I don’t think they could find in other programs.

The Praxeum is secret gem in the Bay Area and I can’t say enough good things about it. The instructors are kind, caring, knowledgeable, super strong, and fun! The boys and girls, women and men, who get to train and grow in The Praxeum consider themselves super lucky and honored to do so. I know my family has benefited so much from this community and we are excited to see it come to San Jose.

Join! You won’t regret it!

I can't express enough how thrilled I am with the gym my son attends! The focus on discipline has not only improved his physical abilities but has also instilled a sense of responsibility and respect. It's heartening to see these values being nurtured alongside physical fitness.

The incorporation of proper parkour techniques adds an exhilarating dimension to the training. Each session is a perfect blend of challenge and fun, keeping my son engaged and motivated. The introduction of a bit of grappling further enriches the experience, providing a well-rounded approach to overall fitness.

The instructors are undoubtedly the heart of this gym. Their level of training is evident in the skillful and safe guidance they provide. What sets them apart is their ability to connect with both kids and adults, creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for everyone.

This gym has become more than just a place for physical activity – it's a community where my son is not only learning valuable skills but also building friendships and confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend it to any parent looking for a nurturing and dynamic environment for their child's physical and personal development.

The new Guardian Art Gym is awesome! My son and I love going to training and open gym. The Commanders have incredible knowledge to share and teach much more than just parkour and MMA; character building, awareness, strength, discipline, honor, and community. Highly recommended to anyone, child and adult!
