Love this gym! So accepting of all people and ability levels. Lots of strongman and powerlifting equipment. The owner, boss person Mandy, is one of the kindest people on this earth.

I’ve been to a lot of gyms in the bay and the community in this gym is truly unique. They have a super welcoming vibe and really care about helping each individual gain skills quickly

I just competed in a powerlifting meet at the Resistance Gym. This is an amazing gym. Their equipment is top notch, their staff are amazing, and the atmosphere is ideal. It is a gym that meets the needs for anyone from the novice lifter to the most competitive powerlifting athlete. They are also a community who have an unbreakable family style bond. I would train there for sure if I lived in the area. 100% recommend this gym without a doubt.

Really glad this gem of a gym is around! I went to check it out one afternoon and met Mandy. She gave me a quick tour of the gym. They've got what you need and some cool equipment for more serious lifters.
What I *really* adore is that it is a safe space for groups who may be "gymtimidated" out of other places. They are body neutral which I love. No one here is going to talk about whittling their waist and it's discouraged. It's a place to show up, get strong without the toxic overlay of fitness/gym/diet culture. I've seen gyms like this closer to SF/in SF but that's too far to travel. Really glad they fill gap out here in the burbs.
I took a Saturday morning class with Aizaiah and we focused on a full body workout but with some learning about strengthening forearms. He/They were knowledgeable, and approachable. Aizaiah's passion for learning and teaching were esp. when he took time to help me correct my form for doing banded forearm pronation exercises. Will definitely be back!

Such a great experience and very healthy gym environment than chain gym companies. Mandy & her team were extremely helpful in instructing the class from start to finish and bringing positive reinforcements to new people either learning or relearning proper breathing/stance techniques. When it came getting down to business it was very professional and uplifting to test not only where our strength lie but as well as our knowledge for those that are very active in the gym. Helped me a lot to relearn and test my limits with the amount of time we had in the class. Very much recommend to anyone who can attend this gym or classes to go for it! This space is very inspirational and open arm to anyone willing to walk through those doors ready to learn and gain both knowledge and muscles in weight lifting! 10/10 for me!

I had such a great time doing a weightlifting seminar on barbell lifting with Mandy and Anne.

They were sooo supportive and eager to help out with my form and helped me achieve a new PR in my deadlifts (255 β€”-> 365 lb’s)

I honestly could not have done it without the help of these two amazing teachers!

Along with being such great trainers, the space is well maintained and clean and is inclusive in so many different facets of the word, and that makes me feel so seen as a Non-Binary QPOC.

Thank you Mandy and Anne, it was such a pleasure! 🫢🏽🀎

I would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys fitness but doesn't feel at home in a traditional gym. Thank you again Mandy!

I LOVE this gym, the vibe, and the people. The culture that Mandy has built here is amazing. There’s no intimidation, feelings of competition or being inadequate. I highly recommend the Resistance Gym to anyone interested in strength training, from absolute beginners to competitive lifters. It has awesome values of inclusivity and accessibility which it actually delivers on. The space (with no mirrors) is a refreshing break from toxic fitness culture. Mandy (the owner) is extremely knowledgable about lifting technique and proper form, including expertise in working with larger bodies and folks with accessibility needs, which is so rare to find in a trainer. She showed me ways to strengthen my injured knees that didn't cause them to flare up, when multiple physical therapists and trainers were no help. It blew my mind! She also had tools and options for me to lift weights safely with my post-surgery hand. I didn't even know I could lift weights without using my hand! The other cool thing about this gym is that there's no assumption that accessible equals easy or boring. With the right form and equipment I was able to lift a lot more weight than I thought, and left feeling strong & empowered. There's also an awesome community and fun events. The only downfall is that I don't live closer!

I joined this gym in November 2021. It has been a wonderful, supporting, chill, and welcoming space for me to get stronger.
The owner Mandy is super chill and easy to talk to. They have great specialty powerlifting bars and strongman equipment to play with. Come join us and work on your lifts. First class is free!

You can book a class online, which is perfect for my introvert self. I was still a bit nervous - power lifting is scary, right? But no, not at all. The Resistance is a very inclusive gym, and the classes cater for all sorts of people and bodies, from beginners to people who want to compete.

I love this gym! After having my first kid in February, I had been looking for a space to workout, preferably in group classes. I stumbled upon this wonderful place and it has been great so far. Mandy has created a body positive, LGBTQ friendly workout space and leads our classes with humor, compassion, and expertise. She has more than accommodated my different physical abilities as I heal from a c-section and work on getting my stamina back up. The equipment is all new and I love the group class atmosphere and workouts. I'm so thankful this is nearby!

This is the best gym I have ever belonged to. There is such an amazing sense of community and safety to be whatever size you are or do whatever your body can do. Mandy is a trauma informed coach that meets you where you are at, is highly knowledgeable, supportive, and motivating. I never knew weight lifting could be fun!

This gym is more than a gym. This is a vibrant and inclusive community of people that have seen a need in our community and have gone above and beyond to fill it.
Most gyms consider themselves a "transformation center" focusing of being thin and buff at any cost.
This gym to me, has been a "transformation center" in a completely different way. I'm on the way to healing my relationships with fitness, food, and my body; This place has been instrumental in that journey. I am so greatful. *Plus they have an amazing book club*

If your looking for a gym that’s all inclusive, welcoming, and supportive then Resistance is for you! This gym is amazing! If you like to work out alone, in groups, go fast, go slow, go heavy or whatever; they have a wide variety of options. All the members are hella welcoming! Everyone is so supportive and wants everyone to succeed in whatever their goals for movement are. They have classes for lifting, book studies to learn about body positively and what it means to be anti diet, they have youth classes, adaptive equipment for people with injuries or disabilities, and fun events like pool parties wear big girls can feel empowered to wear bikinis! I can’t say enough about how wonderful the resistance is! This place helped me to feel more confident and know that I’m good enough no matter the size of abilities of my body!

The community at The Resistance Gym are the kind of people that you want to lift with, the kind of people who want to get strong and want to enjoy themselves while they do it. You can tell their intentions is to build both community and high performance athletes. As fellow gym owners and strength athletes, I'm so excited to see them grow into their new space and all the PRs on the way. Insert flame emoji

I've been a member of The Resistance for a few months now and let me tell you how ridiculously amazing it is. Mandy, the owner, is a literal gem. She is kind, welcoming, and encouraging which is not super common in most gym spaces. The members are equally amazing, we cheer each other on and celebrate victories like old friends even if we just met that day. I love being part of a space that is so inclusive and supportive. You'll meet all different types of people, body sizes, abilities, The Resistance has it all. The diversity is what makes The Resistance such a special space. Come join us, we also have pop tarts. :)

I love this space! It’s a great community with so much love and support. It’s truly a safe place where you can explore new movements for individuals who are experienced in strength training or first timers in general. Whether that be powerlifting, strongman, and much more. You come as you are. You are welcomed as you are.
