Organized, Professional, and Clean. I dropped in while in the area visiting friends. Incredibly easy process for setting up the day pass, and great response times. The facility has plenty of open space, barbells, and other equipment. Arguably the best weightlifting facility I've been to in the Southern California area. Will be returning the next time I am in the San Diego County.

Dropped in for 3 days while visiting the area. Great facility and equipment. Super friendly people. Easy drop in process. I came in the early afternoons and there was plenty of space to train but it sounds like evening sessions are a great option if you can make it. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Absolutely loved this gym! I dropped in while on vacation, and everything from signing in to getting acquainted with the equipment (which, btw, I loved the amount of weights, bars and platforms available!) to the great energy from the other lifters makes The Strength Tank a MUST visit. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in San Diego!

I've been training at the Strength Tank for more than a year now and it's easily the best weightlifting gym in San Diego. It has everything you could ask for: an incredible community, knowledgeable coaches, and a variety of equipment. With high-quality barbells, plenty of kilo plates, lots of racks, a ton of platforms, and even more specialty equipment (my favorite is the transformer bar), it offers everything you need to not just train effectively, but to elevate your training. What really sets this gym apart is the atmosphere though. The members and coaches are immediately welcoming, incredibly supportive and motivating, and genuinely passionate about lifting. They inspire you to push yourself, whether you’re attempting to hit a PR, grinding through a tough session, or focusing on technique. The coaches will help you reach your goals safely and teach you new things on the way, too, even if you are only an honorary Shark. On top of all that, the gym is always clean, well-organized, and has plenty of space, even during peak hours. All in all, the Strength Tank is a place where lifters of all levels are welcome and supported. Whether you’re new to weightlifting or a seasoned athlete, I can’t recommend this gym enough. It’s not just a place to train—it’s a place to thrive.

As a CrossFitter, I joined The Strength Tank to improve my Olympic lifts, and after just a few weeks, I’m beyond impressed. Coach Stefani has helped me make significant progress in my technique in a short time. The gym’s atmosphere is motivating, the facility is top-notch, and the community is incredibly supportive. I’m excited to keep training and learning here. San Diego is lucky to have such an outstanding weightlifting gym—it truly deserves all five stars and more!

The Strength Tank welcomed me as someone new to weightlifting with open arms. Both the coaches and members have created a family like culture that encourages everyone regardless of experience. On top of everyone's friendliness, the coaches along with many members, are very knowledgeable and consistently share their years of experience. From creating/modifying programming to casual conversation to Saturday morning classes to coaching hours, it's been easy to progress without feeling lost. The equipment is also much better than what I'm used to. I can't speak for the more advanced members, but it appears like they're consistently gaining strength and hitting PR's as well (judging by all the bell ringing and cheering)! Lastly, I think it's awesome they partnered with CrossFit next door with options to take classes/train there and vice versa.

The Strength Tank = favorite gym, I've ever been a part of for so many reasons.
- Coaches / Owners: All of them are USAW certified coaches with decades worth of combined experience. All coaches are either currently competing in local/national competitions, or have competed in the past. Beyond that, they are incredibly awesome human beings who are so supportive, and do everything in their power to help you become do absolute best. And they're there to believe in your abilities and potential even in times when you don't believe in yourself. On top of that, they're hilarious and fun to be around.
- Facility: Brand new, and loaded with super high quality equipment, weights, and barbells. It's an incredibly clean, large, great looking, and well organized space. There's also a shower and plenty of parking. Can't really ask for more.
- Vibes: The people and the vibes here are incredible. Everyone here is super friendly and supportive. Serious about improving everyday, but still laid back. And there are few things more fun than hitting your PRs with your friends and fellow lifters all around you cheering you on. On top of that there always seem to be very well known / prominent weightlifters dropping in all the time.
Whether you've been Olympic Weightlifting for years, or you're just interested in starting this is THE place to be.

When traveling for work I always look for, but rarely find, an Olympic gym to train at.. so imagine my excitement when I came across The Strength Tank. Not only is The Strength Tank an Olympic weightlifting gym, but everyone I encountered while working out there was incredibly welcoming. The space is the perfect size with individual platforms and dropping in was easy to figure out. I highly suggest checking this place out.

Absolutely love this gym! I found The Strength Tank while looking for a place to improve my Olympic lifts (coming in with a CrossFit background). I started out by coming to their Saturday weightlifting basics class. Everyone was very welcoming and supportive, and the coaching is excellent — so much so that I’m now a full time member and follow their programming. Whether you’re a beginner or a high level competitive weightlifter, The Strength Tank is hands down the place to be.

My time at the Strength Tank was brief but nothing short of sweet. As a remote athlete for a different team, I was welcome into this gym and felt at home right away. The owners and coaches are all phenomenal and give solid feedback, the facility itself is everything you need if you are just beginning your weightlifting journey or if you’re a seasoned athlete. You have everything you need there to set and accomplish your goals and be successful. If you are in San Diego and need a true weightlifting gym, you won’t find another place like the Tank. I already miss this place and if I’m ever in SD again, it will surely be my first stop.

Truly, nothing like it. This community holds a significant amount of meaning to me. Stef, Ryan, and Josh dedicate themselves to the betterment of the community in and out of the gym. There is a type of mentorship that comes from the coaches in a sport like this that has built on my character and strengthened my values. My teammates reflect passion, resilience, and support for themselves and others around them. You are welcome and valued here, come lift with us

Best weightlifting gym EVER. The coaches, the equipment, the members, the VIBES- are always great at the Strength Tank. I just hit my 100 day mark being apart of this gym and I have hit multiple PRs with the support of awesome athletes and coaches around me. This gym is more than a gym, its a community. The Strength Tank inspires me as an athlete and a person to be my best everyday. Going to the Strength Tank is my favorite part of every day! If you question, even for a moment, whether or not you will love this gym.. just set up a walk through with Stefani and you will IMMEDIATELY fall in love with the gym.

I had been only weightlifting by myself for a few months when I joined Strength Tank, but when I had the free consult I felt so welcomed and knew I wanted to stay. It’s been a few weeks now and being surrounded by Coaches Stef, Ryan, Josh, and all the other lifters have exponentially helped me as a weightlifter. (Also the equipment and platforms are very well managed)

Figured I would post an objective and fair review since it's been a few months since the incident that made me leave.
The gym itself is great, with ample space for lifting for all kinds even at peak hours. The gym owners put a lot of care into their facility and during the time I was there, saw them continually bring in new equipment and do maintenance on the flooring. Clearly, investment is being put into the gym for the long haul.
The community is amazing as well. Made some great friends at the gym that I miss and the other lifters at the gym are super supportive. Definitely felt like a family for most of the time I was there.
That being said, many of the faults of other boutique club-style gyms can be felt here. In more community-oriented gyms it's very easy to fall into a trap of cognitive biases (in particular confirmation bias) surrounding lifting technique and methodology. Clarence Kennedy has a video on some issues found with what he calls "performance gyms" and unfortunately he strikes the nail on the head with his criticisms.
Overall, I had a good experience working out at this gym with my friends and a less stellar experience with the other things surrounding the gym. I bring up some negatives in the hopes that the gym improves for others in the future. In the meantime though, it would be a hard place to recommend to any other lifters.

I was visiting San Diego for a few days and decided to check out the Strength Tank to get in a day or so of training. I had such a good experience that I ended up going in three days in a row. They open at 5am on weekdays so I was able to train and also enjoy full days of my vacation. The facility itself is amazing. They have everything you need in a clean and spacious environment. Additionally, the community in the gym is very welcoming. Stefani was very friendly, helpful, and responsive. She even made sure that I got the discounted rate instead of paying the regular daily rate three times. I will definitely be back if I’m ever in San Diego again.

So glad I found this place. Was on the fence for a long time since I was lifting on my own for fun and for free and I wasn't sure if I could get value from a dedicated Olympic Weightlifting gym. All my concerns were gone after walking in for a free trial session.
The equipment, coaching, support, and energy are all top-tier. The difference in barbell and platform quality was night and day compared to even your super sportiest 24 hour fitness. Hours of watching Clarence Kennedy videos and Chinese WL slow-mos is nothing compared to on-the-floor coaching to break down and hone in on your own technique. Speaking of the coaches, they live and breathe weightlifting. Some of them are even funny.
Whether you're a seasoned lifter, or if Olympic weightlifting seems intimidating because you're a beginner like me, this is the place for you. There are also included perks like free basic programming and yoga catered to weightlifters. If you're serious about something, go all in because yolo and the reward you get back is priceless.

This place is awesome. I've worked with Ryan, Stefani, and Josh. All are cool and more than willing to help you improve. They have hours specially for beginners to give you closer attention and there's a coach around during most hours to offer feedback and advice. Good barbells, plenty of weight, and plenty of platforms.

Dropped in with a friend and it was very fun, clean and friendly! Atmosphere is open and not claustrophobic. The gym has everything you need if you’re a weightlifter, you could maybe squeeze in powerlifting. A surplus of barbells for both men/women, plates/training plates, resistance bands, racks, and a small athletic/accessory section with dumbbells/machines and turf etc. Clean restrooms, plenty of parking, and a cool feature I like: there’s a railroad right behind the gym. I’ll be coming back!

When I came in last week to work up to my openers I was a little lost but one of the coaches was there and helped me out checked me in. Although I came when it was opening people weren’t there, I was able to do my lifts comfortably and with great equipment. If I ever go down to SD I would 100% drop by again and recommend my friends down in SD to give it a try.

I moved to San Diego from Chicago in August, and this was my first stop when searching for a new weightlifting gym. As soon as I stepped into the space and was warmly greeted by the owners and other members, I did not bother looking anywhere else. If you are looking for technically sound coaches, then this is your spot. If you are looking for a supportive community that rallies behind you as you PR, then this is your spot. If you are looking for all of the above and a safe, welcoming place, then you don't need to look elsewhere. Invest in yourself by surrounding yourself with positive yet motivating energy. Leave the ego at home and join in on the good vibes.

The Strength Tank takes the best parts of a dedicated weightlifting gym and a chill hangout spot for friends and blends them together perfectly. Functionally, I love the way the gym is setup intentionally for your main sets, accessory work, and squatting/pulling to all flow through different areas. Socially, Steph, Ryan, and Jesse already have a great culture going that is an excellent mix of dedication, respect, and fun.
