Fantastic. I’ve been a member of this gym for nearly 10 years, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health, routine, and keeping up with my kids. The coaching staff is knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping members reach their goals. They meet you where you are and push you in the right way, whether you're new to working out or have been training for years.
What really sets this gym apart is the environment the people have set up, it's welcoming and comfortable. It’s a place where you feel encouraged, not judged, and the community atmosphere makes it easy to stay motivated. After a decade here, I can confidently say this gym has played a major role in my fitness journey, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, supportive place to train.

I joined TJ's about 6 months ago shortly after moving to the area. It has been a great experience. The coaches do a fantastic job pushing you and teaching proper form. The members are also super welcoming and encouraging. In just 6 months, I have noticed a huge improvement in my fitness and have met some awesome people. Have even enjoyed a few beers after the Friday afternoon classes with other members. Highly recommend joining if you're looking for a new gym or just starting on your fitness journey!

At TJ's, you'll also grow your community. It's like a social club where everyone is in workout clothes. Love those Friday apres-workout gatherings.
You'll brush up on your social skills, making friends between sets and bonding over protein shakes.
As you push yourself physically, you'll also be boosting your mental health and confidence. It's like sweated therapy.

I don’t know if 5 stars is enough to rate how much I love and value TJ’s Gym! Been a member nearly 13 yrs and hooked from day one. Tried many different workout methods prior to TJs and none really felt like my thing. Starting pretty late with Crossfit (not currently CrossFit gym but very similar methodology) I wasn’t sure how I could do most things as i just wasn’t that fit. TJ changed that mindset! His encouragement of me personally and his coaching, along with our other amazing coaches, has made me feel like a true athlete. I’m far from young but can say I am as fit or more fit than I have ever been. And… one of the absolute game changers for me is the camaraderie with my fellow gym peeps! I look forward to working out my 4-5 days a week with my people and would not have been as successful in improving my fitness for longevity without this incredible community TJ has built and fostered! My daughter and I were visiting Marin. We do equestrian, skating, running and gymnastics. We needed a gym for working out in between other activities. TJ’s was perfect!!!! No bullshit gym. It has everything you need without overfilling the gym. Easy for dropping in, you registere without having to deal with anybody. Highly recommended!! We loved it and will be back for our next visit.

TJ’s Gym has exceeded my expectations in every way and has been life-changing since I joined a year ago. I came to TJ‘s frustrated and bored after many years working out at home and making little progress.
I started doing personal training sessions with Dana, an amazing trainer and a delightful person, and I could not enjoy our sessions more. I’ve gotten noticeably stronger and working with her gave me the confidence to go to the fitness classes. They are super challenging (but easily modifiable if needed) and I love how the small (clean!) space and thoughtful programming easily accommodates everyone’s fitness levels. I am still blown away by the friendliness and supportive environment from both the coaches and the members.
If you’re struggling with fitness or body image issues, limited mobility or injuries, or just think you’re an introvert who actually likes working out alone, joining TJ’s Gym can transform all of that. At 53, it is no small thing to feel healthy and strong, make new friends and feel like you are part of a wonderful community.

Interacting with TJ is delightful. He is genuine, passionate, and generous. Before deciding to join his gym, we spoke, and he gave me his undivided attention for close to an hour, eloquently explaining the importance of fitness and fielding my questions patiently.
I have received personal training sessions from Head Coach and Programmer, Nick LaPlant, who is smart and dedicated.
TJ's Gym feels homey, unlike more corporate, larger-scale gyms. I appreciate this aspect of being a member there.

I’ve been going to TJ’s for about 18 months and I can say it has changed my life. My trainer, Tatum, is exceptional. She really took time to get to know me and understand what my goals were and has designed programming that keeps me motivated and of course, makes me stronger. TJ’s Gym embraces the concept of healthy bodies. While there are plenty of muscles around, the clientele ranges in age from teenagers, to octogenarians. There is everything from doing it yourself too, one-on-one training, group workouts, etc. you can get involved in whatever level works for you. The employees all have a can do it attitude and encourage clientele to push for their best selves. I have been working out with TJ over the past year plus and have had nothing but a great experience. He has embraced my limitations and pushed me to work harder and smarter. The best days of those when I finish the workout and am utterly exhausted. If you’re more of a do it in a group type, there is ample direction to make sure you know what you’re supposed to be doing and in what order. There are also enough devices to use for cardio and weights without having to weight line to use something. There is no “scene“ at this gym and nobody is showing off. People are here to get in shape and do the work.

I recently joined the small group training class. The format feels like it was built around me: small, focused sessions that are equal parts communal, fun, and challenging. It keeps me accountable in a way nothing else has.
What really sets this place apart is the staff. They know everyone — not just by name, but as actual people — and that connection makes it easy to show up and want to work hard.

Best gym and community! I’ve been coming here for just about two years now, and honestly, it’s my favorite place to work out and hang out with all the members. Everyone who comes here is super nice and encouraging.
Since joining, I’ve made great new friends and always look forward to seeing them in class.
Aside from how much I enjoy everyone’s company at TJ’s, the trainers are top notch, and the workouts are fun and offer a great balance of cardio and strength. You can come here 5 to 6 times a week without feeling like you’re repeating the same things or overdoing it in one area, which is great because you get a lot of bang for your buck and it keeps you motivated.
I’ll wrap this up by saying that half the reason I like living in this area is TJ’s.

I've been telling myself for years that I need to do strength training but I hadn't done much about it because I didn't enjoy it, I prefer the runner's high. After hearing great stuff about TJ's and driving by for four years I finally went for it and I am loving it. It has exceeded my expectations and I look forward to going. My husband and I have been going to TJ's small group training now for a couple months, 2-3 days a week. I can't believe what a difference it has made! I already had a regular yoga practice but my doctor, all the media out there, etc. kept telling me I needed to start weight training. I was not at the level to go to the group classes, there are so many different machines, weights, etc, and I don't know proper form so we signed up for small group training, hoping to graduate to the larger group after a few months. I love the size of the small group, I know if I'm doing something wrong I'll be corrected. Its fun to push through the exercises together, everyone supports one another. And its HARD. But good hard. Going with my husband has been totally bonding for us as well. On top of all that, I have already had two separate occasions where random people came up to me and said I looked really toned! That has never happened. I couldn't recommend the program or the coaches more.

A great community is what makes working out when you don’t feel like it easier. TJ and crew set a great tone that is challenging and nurturing and we all take that in. Every work out is varied and, well, work, but there is none of that too aggressive feel here. I joined TJ's a few months ago and am so glad I did! I like that it is a small gym, so you quickly get to know the coaches and other people who go. I appreciate the fact that it is both social and a really intense workout. I've absolutely gotten significantly stronger just from going about once a week, and it's been great to incorporate more lifting into my typical workouts outside the gym. I really like the flexibility that the drop in classes provide. The coaches are great at providing individualized instruction to make sure you are lifting appropriately and not at risk of hurting yourself!

I am in my 13th year of going to TJs. I would actually be surprised if I didn't have the most class check-ins of any current member. Not sure which I like more, the coaching staff or the program, they both keep me coming back, not to mention all the friends I have made along the way.
What started as "Crossfit" when I first joined has evolved into a very thoughtful strength and conditioning program. TJs will never not be a part of my life. Would recommend to anyone who is new to fitnessing or more seasoned, as everyone will be better off having spent time at TJs.

I've been to a lot of group fitness and CrossFit gyms, and TJs is the friendliest I've ever been a member of. The community is extremely friendly and welcoming. In only 1 year there members have invited me to their homes for BBQs, given me physical therapy tips and offered to help me get appointments I wouldn't normally be able to get.
The coaches are excellent. They are incredibly friendly, knowing when to push you to achieve more and when to coach your form to avoid injury. TJ goes out of his way to help members stay healthy and the programming is challenging but thoughtful and practical.

Before starting I was always a bit intimidated by TJs and if it was the right fit for me. I joined a small group with a trainer and it is the best decision I made. TJ's Gym has been open for decades and sets the standard for fitness in Marin. This is a great, well-run gym with owners and coaches who care a lot. If you're looking for group classes or personal training focused on functional fitness, look no further.

I started the noon weight class when covid began; drop-in $35/hr ($420/mo). TJ makes sure you don’t get hurt and does stand up comedy. Yonit was a great trainer (and really funny); she only teaches at the Bay Club now ($265/mo). Maybe they're having a hard time keeping talent. Club Evexia is $299/mo., beautiful, brand-new, A+ facilities, equipment, staff, group fitness with water view. Owners are local and super cool; they care about the business.

Best Crossfit gym in Marin. Şeriously. All levels are supported from competition to beginning athletes. Regular members and staff are most welcoming.
