They close at 6 on weekends which is a way too early for those of us that have daytime scheduled and they lock the locker rooms/ bathrooms so it’s not even worth paying extra for 24 hour access. Also there are tons of teenagers that work out at this location and they are sooo annoying to be around, loud and often in the way, lacking self awareness.

The facilities themselves are super nice. Unfortunately, none of the patrons know basic gym etiquette. They will frequently take equipment that you are using without asking and several time I have had people mess with equipment that I am using! No awareness of gym safety or etiquette. Huge bummer. I try to go after hours only but even then still deal with these issues.

My 90 year old grandma goes to this gym and the front desk staff was so kind so let my boyfriend and I (we’re personal trainers from Reno) come in and show her some of the equipment and movements while we visit her. This means the world to us, truly. Some gyms would raise a stink and want to charge a drop in or say their trainers could show her around.

The gym is quant and nice. We love the hoist equipment and they maintain the facility well and keep it clean. The staff is friendly. I love how many cable machines they have so you aren’t always waiting for a spot to open. If we lived here we would join this gym!

Best local gym! I really like the fact that they have a sauna and it is able to extend the membership to the other two gyms in the area if you pay an extra fee. Overall good customer service. I like the west side location the best however. Would be nice if they have more promotions.

Update: Management just decided to hike class drop-in fees to $20 to coerce people to join. Sadly this was too good to last. Jaelynn is still the best, but back on the hunt for a flexible, inclusive gym. :(

Run don’t walk to the Live Oak Toadal at 9am Tuesdays for hip hop with instructor Jaelynn! I used to be a Zumba regular at the super crowded and competitive SV location but this is where it’s at. Jaelynn’s class is the perfect blend of challenging and encouraging of all ages and skill levels, providing helpful move options to compliment her “dance is just practice” mantra. Much more welcoming of a diverse crowd, as is the $5 drop-in fee. Childcare next door if needed. Did I mention doctor approved? Seriously changed my life during a long covid recovery. Parking can be tight so come early. Tell your friends, but not too many! 🤫

Our family loves toadal fitness! The place is always clean, fun, and friendly staff with no silly gym attitudes to be found! The classes are great, Lisa in spin is the best! Our kid loves going to "gym class" aka childcare. This evening, when we came to pick him up after working out and all the kids were playing and laughing. What a great service!

I haven't been here much since the pandemic, but J'adore! Don't know what I would do without Toadal Fitness! You can pay a family rate or various options for a single account. They have childcare and offer lots of services with families in mind. I love the no pressure attitude and very supportive environment! I've been a member here since we moved to Santa Cruz in 2006. Started off in Aptos at the Cabrillo gym and then moved to downtown. Then we moved to Live Oak. You can be a joint member at all these gyms and take classes at all of them. Many classes at your onsite gym are included in the membership. For the other gyms, either pay $50 upfront or pay $5/ class until you reach the $50. Then many classes from the other gyms are also included. I find their prices very reasonable. Their gear is frequently updated and members get input into what is purchased. The Cabrillo gym has a pool. Great teachers. Thanks Toadal for being there!!!

Good gym, the equipment is clean and the workers are more than willing to give you knowledge about fitness even when you aren't paying for personal training. I came here during my stay in rehab so we definitely were looked upon as bad people and we got watched wherever we went in the gym. Definitely made me feel really judged and not wanted. I only felt this way when the owner/boss was there, not any other employee. I'm sure if you're there on your own you wouldn't get that feeling that's why I can't give 5 stars because no matter who you are you should be treated the same. Since it was the person in charge that made us all feel unwelcome during our workout I personally won't get a membership here because the last thing you want to feel at a gym is judged.

I dragged myself to Toadal cuz it's the right thing to do for myself.Once there, it's not as painful as I thought it would be,on so many levels. Upbeat staff,lots of equipment,not too crowded at Live Oak. Like the yoga classes and my trainer Matt was so patient. I didn't cry once, but he understood the whimpering. Really going to but the effort in to get fit and I feel like Toadal is on my side the whole way. Shout out to Michael. He signed me up and felt no pressure. It was an overall surprisingly pleasant experience.

FTW they have an outdoor area, which I love to use. They have ropes, space for deadlifts outside, and three squat racks, and 1 smith machine. Perfect local gym.

Great local gym that has a relaxed vibe with a friendly staff who always are happy to help with any questions. They have weight and cable machines, as well as free weights and a couple of Smith machines and Squat racks. There are tons of cardio machines as well as really fun classes, both aerobic and mind/body. They also have childcare and a teen center and is attached to a great martial arts place - FreeFall MMA. I highly recommend this as a much less intimidating gym compared to some of the larger corporate chains.

This is a great day-care type place, the people are nice, and it has a very cool climbing wall! I always have lots of fun with the little ones, (they are so cute and nice and wonderful!) and the teen center is awesome!
