They are not friendly for powerlifting. Despite being the size of a warehouse, there is exactly one squat rack and no deadlifting. The free weight benches have no safety guards, limiting you from progressive overload. It's a "fitness" gym, not a lifting gym. Which is fine, whatever, but silly and disappointing.

Toadal is reasonably priced, with lots of great equipment. They have a ton of space in this location, lots of alternatives, and only rarely do I need to wait for someone. The locker room and showers here are just basic, but they are clean and adequate. I could take off a star, but this is not a spa, it's a gym, and the price reflects that. It's just what I need.

The trainer program seems to work well for everyone. When I joined I was given two free sessions with a trainer. After that one makes arrangements directly with one of the trainers -- my payments go to the trainer, not the gym.

Every staff person I've interacted with here has been positive and friendly. And I like seeing a broad range of ages -- I'm in my 70s but I never feel like "the old guy", there are plenty of active members older than me. Users come from the whole community, from high school on up.

Awesome gym, clean, many machines and good packages for families. I mainly go for the daily yoga classes. I highly recommend Hatha yoga with Padma and Yin yoga with Lucie.

Gym has lots of equipment, I hardly ever have to wait to use a machine. Staff is great, always knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of space.
But why does the management keep the gym so freezing cold? It feels like there’s no heating at all, and windows and doors are often wide open. Coming here in the mornings when temperatures are in the 40s is not pleasant at all.

Just join the gym. Plenty of spaces to work out. Feels clean and I absolutely love the outdoor area. It is very peaceful and I actually look forward to going there unlike 24 hour fitness, which is hot, sweaty and packed.

Great spacious gym, but hours are meh (can pay more for any time access but you will be asked to leave if you are there after closing as a normal member, which is very early on weekends, I think 6 on saturdays). Equipment is old but in good shape. Outside area is awesome. Staff is friendly, gym is kept very clean.

I was first a member of this gym at the downtown location about 15 years ago. I've been using the Westside location for the past year. I'm a big fan of both locations and recommend Toadal Fitness to everyone. It's a great facility, the staff is super friendly, and parking is very easy. I can't think of any negatives at all.

Joined the first week of December 21 so I really haven't been here long. My first impression was a positive one. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lots and lots of equipment., Treadmills,bikes,weight machines( need an upgrade tho, some fresh paint in the bldg wouldn't hurt either) they also have classes like yoga and zoomba(sp?) So far so good! Great atmosphere usually not crowded unless you are there from 3 to 5:30 pm! I like it here..I will update after I've had more time there.

Love this gym! Lots of open space, and great work out equipment as well as multiple sets of it. Wait time for equipment is little to none. The staff is great and friendly especially Jacob he’s the boy! This gym has been the best by far throughout Covid with their procedures handing each person a towel and a sanitation spray bottle. I travel due to work and have been to 6 gyms this past year, Toadal Fitness is the best I’ve been to.

I was a member at 24 Hour Fitness forever until they raised their prices and I felt it was no longer worth the high price of admission. Boy am I glad because I found Toadal Fitness and will never look back. If you travel a lot it's nice to have the multi location membership that only 24 can offer, but if you need a local gym, with super friendly staff, a welcoming atmosphere and nice, well cared for equipement then Toadal will be a great fit. I think their $41 annual improvement "extra payment" is ridiculous, and I hope they take it from a Google reviewer and ditch it.

I've been working out here for just about one year.

The place is clean, the staff is friendly. Usually not too busy. Most of the cars in the ample parking lot bring people for yoga, spinning and cross fit classes.

Yes, there could always be more free weights, but the overall positive vibe makes up for any apparent lack. There is a nice new deadlift setup and two squat racks. Even going at peak times, there has not been much waiting.

I'm greatful to have such a nice place to work out.

Great place! Staff are friendly and (by contrast with some reviewers) in my experience highly competent! The place is a haven of friendly people all trying their best to stay in shape. All ages and body-types represented, and no one seems to have anything to prove--all in all, a very Santa Cruz gym, in the very best sense: friendly, active, yet laid back. Try it, you'll like it!

It was cool i liked this gym until they tried to charge me for an extra month and when confronted about it where unable to locate the hard have copy of my month to month contract I dint want all the stress of dealing with incompetent staff so I said that we could just make this my last month then that said that I have to officially terminate my membership then I said what do you think I'm doing and walked out

Very small section of free weights. I had to sign a release just to walk around the gym to see if I liked it. Ridiculous pricing schedule, to include a "activation fee" of 189 dollars on top of your monthly fee. In short, if you are a rich soccer mom who only wants to do cardio with a bunch of other rich soccer moms, this is the place for you. Oh, and the two staff members I dealt with were both over weight.
