When I lived in Joshua Tree, this was the gym I used and it is a great gym. From the sauna to the 12,000+ sq ft of gym equipment, this was my favorite place to go after work, it was my playground. Really good gym for a great price! Staff are friendly, the gym is always impeccably clean, and it’s never really that busy. Equipment is well spaced out with a good weight selection. The locker rooms are also clean and they recently updated the sauna.

I only gave it less than 5 stars because the smith machine they have is a little difficult to use and there is only one other old school squat rack. But leg day is still more than manageable! It also seems like they have the heater running during colder months, feels like 75 which is not that ideal but we manage.

I have worked out at this gym for about a year now. It is always very clean and in ship shape. It's affordable and offers a few amenities like group workout classes, steam rooms, and saunas. They also have personal trainers that can work with you one on one. This is a great place for starting your fitness journey. 99% of people wear headphones. It's super quiet lol

They have a great marketing team because advertisements for this gym makes it look very spacious, but in reality it’s kinda cramped. They do have a lot of machines available, but I still felt like I had to improvise on a lot of my workouts. I didn’t notice any dedicated stretching/cool down or core workout area.

Overall, not a bad gym. I’ve seen and been to worse. It’s quiet, quaint, and has all the equipment you need to get a good workout in. They provide sanitation spray and towel at each machine, so no excuse to wipe down after using it!

This gym grew and upgraded some of their equipment within the last 2.5 years being there. As someone with a PL background, those Ohio and Texas bars were a must have. The facility and bathrooms are clean and the equipment are pretty standard. They’re not Rogue or Sorinex but they do the job

Let me preface this by saying if you are beyond a beginner bodybuilder or plan on progressing past a beginner, or you powerlift or oly weightlift, this gym is definitely not for you. Chalk is not allowed and everything is rubber.

But overall, it's a clean gym with nice machines and lots of treadmills. Bathrooms are clean and staff is nice. Obviously this gym is targeting the average person and it does a fine job.

Came here for the first time after my friend told me about the gym. Was greeted right away by Dakota who is extremely friendly, kind & adds a nice welcoming atmosphere right when you enter! Whole facility is super clean & lots of great machines & equipment. The change rooms were also phenomenal, and the showers! Oh my gosh the showers were amazing. Great water pressure, clean & spacious. Will be back in the future as this is my new favorite gym in the Yucca Valley/ 29 Palms Area! Thank you again. Also.. did I mention they have a sauna?! I lived in 29 for about 2 years. This gym is the best part of town. It’s affordable, it has childcare, it’s clean, nice bathrooms, not crowded during the day, and free group fitness classes with membership too. This is the only thing I’m going to miss about 29 Palms. I'm unsure what I've done to offend the young blonde front desk employee here but from what I've observed, its all attractive women that come here. She continually glares at me and other women while we train, the conversation is always sour and plain.

Its a shame it can't be a more welcoming environment for (civilian spouses) women who have no choice in being here.

The membership fees are astronomical, the gear is out of date and not suitable for all heights. it just feels like a PT office.

Came out to 29 palms for a wedding and got two day passes here. It was super clean. There wasn’t many people there and the people that were there were spread out. The staff was very friendly. They have a great range of weights and machines. Basically everything in 29 palms is the dulled down lower quality version of any where else. But this gym was better than 90% of gyms in LA.

I lost my ATM card and had to get a new one printed and I forgot to tell total fitness so I went in to take care of it and paid my past due amount and put my new card on file. The next day they hit my card with as many late fees and service fees they could. I went in to discuss it with the manager and she was completely rude to me and impolite. So I paid for 6 months in advance to prevent any late fees from happening again. Then the next time I came in she wrote on my account that I had to buy a new Keychain. For 5 dollars no exceptions. So I did then today she had her worker call me to tell me I was contractually obligated to buy a 5 dollar key chain and I told her I paid for it, there was basically no reason to call me besides to continue to pester me, pretty immature. I dont like to stir the pot but I went to 5 star fitness in yucca valley where I've been a member for 13 years and I had the complete opposite experience. The lady working was extremely helpful and polite and offered me a new key card for free even though I had one already and she waived every late fee and service fee and she was friendly. There are 2 kinds of people on this planet. Hopefully it can go the gym and enjoy my workout and not continue to be pesteredfor being a loyal customer

Place is nothing but a scam! I can't even afford to cancel my membership because some asshat didn't tell me it would be $100 plus my monthly member ship to cancel it under 6 months and $50 after that.. I was told if I didn't like the gym I could cancel at any time... not be fined with it.. got laid off because business I worked for Closed due to covid and I can't afford the monthly payments anymore so unfortunately my account may go to collections and I just fought for a year to get my credit to where it is.. thanks to this place its been nothing but a headache... don't trust their word! Go to 29 gym or a gym down the hill. Debating if I should report them to BBB just so I can close my account without having to oay a ridiculous fee that I had no knowledge of otherwise I wouldn't have signed up if I known about all these hidden fees

Is it a good gym? Yes. But on what planet do you charge 40 a month with a year commitment? What gym even locks you in a year like that like a cell phone plan or something. Especially when you have mostly active duty military in the area that can be moved at any time. But even for a civilian that's outrageous. And if you only want to commit for say 3 months, which is a fair commitment for a gym, good luck paying 50 dollars a month and ALL the money up front. For a grand total of 150 dollars out of pocket. Only in twentynine palms can you get away with this. I know places in other areas of the US that have regulation pools, full basketball courts, racketball courts, crossfit areas, day care, and an indoor track all in one facility that charge 25 a month with no commitment. These people are money hungry and WILL NOT work with you at all. Beware.

Let’s begin with the good. This gym has a wide variety of exercise equipment including tons of cardio machines and weight lifting machines. They have an Octagon and a Styku body scan machine neither of which I’ve ever had at any of my other gyms. So that’s a major plus. It’s clean for a gym and the staff is normally very friendly. Having said that, let’s get to the bad. When I say they’re normally friendly I mean until you need an attachment for the cable machine. They have some out and available to grab at any opportunity, the rest sits behind the booth for some reason and you have to flag down an employee (if there isn’t one behind the desk) and sign it out. I understand that people steal but come on! I think the membership fees should cover whatever goes missing. It’s an inconvenience for both the member and the employee. The other bad, might be good for some but not for me, is the lighting. It is very bright!! Gives me a headache almost every day. Other than that it’s a great gym, complete with a steam room and sauna in each bathroom.

Staff here is always friendly. Very modern and clean gym. Lots of free weights along with many machines varying in muscle groups. I'm not into CrossFit, but they have a CrossFit section that I thing has quite a bit of facilities that a CrossFitter would enjoy. They offer a good amount of group workouts and classes. They have a daycare withe a dedicated attendant for your children. Always very clean. The best gym in the area by far.

I once worked in a gym and I have belonged to gyms for about 40 years, all over the USA, so I have more than a little experience in this area.

This Total Fitness facility is nothing short of superb. Staff are sharp and personable. The machines are new, ergonomic, and well maintained. The facility itself is spotlessly clean, spacious, and well laid out.

Another thing that separates this gym from many others is that there are very reasonable short term memberships available. I am a visitor with family in this area and at first I thought I'd only be here two weeks, so I paid for two weeks and worked out almost every day. Then my plans changed and I knew I'd be here another month, so I paid for a month (at a lower per-day rate). Now it looks like I will be here another two weeks, so guess what? Right, I've paid for another two weeks, after which I will be returning home.

I've consulted with Savannah Wong (manager) regarding my billing issues via email as she never once returned a phone call from me. I signed up for a month to month contract with this gym and told the front desk that I don't want to be charged after April 2017 as i will not be in the area for long. They said i would not get charged after that first day payment. I later find out that they have been charging for 8 months on my credit card. Savannah Wong, who is the manager handling my case did not return my phone calls and sent her responses via email days later. The front desk does a poor job answering phone calls. I made 5 attempts on my last call before talking to someone. After 3 weeks of going no where with my refund, Savannah Wong stated that because they do not have any record of me giving notice, they cannot refund me. There is no reason for me to lie here. What reasonable person would think it is okay to bill a customer $60 for 8 months when they have record of me not checking into the gym and I gave proof that I was working in Washington state. Savannah Wong was not helpful and gave me the same response for the past 3 weeks dealing with this nonsense. This was very stressful especially during the holidays. They declined to give me the contact information of their owner. One of the front desk women said she "cannot legally." They may be a successful business but this was the worst customer service I've ever dealt with.

This place was designed by a gym rat. Excellent place for a work out!! Steam room and sauna in both locker rooms. Each locker has a combination lock that you choose your own code.
