It started with Dave, a self-proclaimed health nut, and his passion for fitness and helping others. With humble beginnings, Dave became a personal trainer in 2009 to eventually work his way up to a management position in one of the top personal training gyms in the nation. Disagreeing with their dollars over people philosophy, Dave started his own business in 2016. Now, 6 years later, we’ve learned that our greatest journey of helping people sustainably lose weight is just getting started."

I’ve been training with Jacob through Train With Dave - Irvine for about 3-4 weeks now and have been loving the program. My calorie deficit amount isn’t too extreme and Jacob gives great suggestions for substitutes and how to better my diet. The workout program is hard but not too intense. Jacob really got to take the first two weeks to get to know my strengths and weaknesses physically and has worked with them to make me feel better in the gym. I can feel a huge difference in my strength already!

I started training with Mike in the last week of July 2025 through a three-session intro offer. At first, I just wanted to give it a try, but I quickly noticed the benefits. Mike’s support and motivation made a big difference.
He’s also helped me with nutrition by guiding me on tracking and making healthier choices. We took initial measurements and check progress each month, which keeps me on track.
The gym is clean, spacious, and never too crowded. I’m looking forward to finishing my 12-week program!

I have been training with Gio at Train With Dave since last November. As a collegiate athlete (ages ago) and a long time age group triathlete, I came to TWD with a lot of preconceived notions of what my training should be. My time working with GIO has been nothing short of transformational. The focus on basic nutritional concepts has been key to improved performance - lean mass without overtraining to get there. Rather than a one-size-fits-all program, Gio adapts my workouts to my current fitness level and competition schedule. I’ve recently started personal training here and I’m honestly surprised at how consistently I’ve been showing up—no cancellations so far, which is a first for me! I usually lose motivation quickly, but this place is different. The workouts don’t feel repetitive or boring, and I really appreciate how the app lets me preview what’s coming up—it helps me feel mentally prepared without getting overwhelmed.
My trainer, Rio, has been incredibly supportive and proactive. He checks in regularly to make sure I’m not in pain and that I’m feeling the right muscles working during each exercise. He also listens when I share struggles—like overeating on weekends or feeling guilty after a binge—and instead of pushing extreme solutions, he gives me realistic, stress-free strategies I can apply in the moment. It really helps me stay grounded and not spiral into negative thinking.
What stands out the most is how Rio always follows up after sessions to ask for feedback and see how I’m feeling. That level of care and consistency is rare, and it’s made a big difference in how I approach both fitness and mindset.

I have started training with Jacob since February. I have already seen the transformation both in my physique but also mindset. One downside to consider is that this service operates on a subscription basis, similar to a gym membership. Consequently, you’ll be charged regardless of whether you attend the sessions or not. Despite missing eight sessions (4 weeks) I still had to make the payment.

Working out at TWD has been a game changer for my fitness journey. I’ve only been training with Rio for a month and I have almost 6lbs weight loss, 1.5% fat loss, and 2 inches waist size down! I am 6 months postpartum with back issues and have been really struggling at a plateau of my “get my body back” journey, which has felt impossible considering the need to maintain fat percentages for breastfeeding. Rio has been kind, patient and understanding, all while pushing me to go farther and push my (perceived) limits to achieve my goals. I started with Train with Dave in Irvine during their promotion of 8 training sessions. I was skeptical at first because I was not sure who I was going to be paired with as my trainer. The first 2 session of my promotion were ok . I got to meet Dave himself and another trainer. But my experience with Train with Dave really improved when I met Rio. Rio was the main trainer I worked with for the rest of my sessions and to be honest I wish I met him from the beginning.
Rio was so kind and knowledgeable , he listened to my concerns and understood that I was a busy mom trying to lose all the baby weight I gained during pregnancy. He taught me proper form when lifting weights and he gave me so many helpful tips along the way. What a difference it makes when you actually do the exercises correctly! When I was away from the gym, Rio checked in with me on the app, he set different home workouts for me to do during the week, and he made sure I was hitting my protein goals and steps. After 10 sessions (1 month and a half) with Rio, I was able to lose 10lbs and 3% of body fat. Yay!

I am not athletic and actually had a disability with my legs for a few years where I had total weakness in my lower limbs and body. Train With Dave is an amazing place to get personal training. The facilities are great and seem brand new even though I think they’ve been open for years. There’s a great energy inside but it’s never so busy that you have to wait for machines of weights. Most importantly, the trainers are incredible. My trainer, Jacob is super knowledgeable and motivating. He helps me track everything from exercises to food to sleep and always has suggestions for making habit adjustments that fit into my life and routine. He pushes me and can tell when I have more reps in me, but never in a stressful way. His tips for adjusting form to do exercises safely and more effectively are always spot on. He’s also just a really nice person and makes the whole thing enjoyable and not massively boring which is how I usually find lifting. I’ve also worked briefly with Gio who is just as fantastic, and seamlessly picked up my schedule one week. So the bench is pretty deep, and you probably can’t go wrong. Forgetting everything else, they know how to get results out of you. I just got measured today and I’ve put on 5lbs of muscle since starting. I have more energy and sleep better as well. If you’re looking for personal training in OC, TWD is a perfect option.

Started at Train with Dave in Huntington Beach in 4 months ago after 2 months I made the switch to Irvine location with trainer Jake. It has been a awesome experience, after spending 3 years struggling with my health due to a heart condition. I finally feel like I have my life back. From the workouts to the meal tracking Jake helps keep me accountable and focused. My longtime back issues are improving as well with well rounded full body work outs. I have dropped over 5% body fat in 4 months, have hit new PRs in all of my lifts, stronger than I was back in my college days. I owe it first to God for healing my heart but second to Jake at Train with Dave for helping get my strength and confidence back. Would recommend it to anyone that needs direction and structure in either there diet or excercise. It is worth every penny.

I’ve enjoyed working with Jacob at the Train with Dave location in Irvine for the last several months. I love their approach of having multiple clients train at the same time. We work alongside one another, and you never feel you are not getting the attention you need. Jacob helps me load the weights and position the machines appropriately to fit my body. That way, I know my way around a gym once I take the skills he has taught me to be on my own. The only downfall is that the gym has multiple training companies that rent the space, so it can get busy.
His knowledge and expertise in nutrition have taught me so much and is always a message or photo away to provide me with healthy alternatives. Thanks to his guidance, I’ve seen physical improvements and developed a healthier mindset.
Every workout is thoughtfully planned with their personalized app, which I also use to log all of my meals, step goals, and at-home workouts. He continuously checks on me and modifies my goals to push me more each week.

Worked with a number of personal trainers at 24HR & LA Fitness. Braedon at Training with Dave is the best. Very knowledgeable, focusing on nutrition as well as varying workouts to achieve my goals. I had anxiety and ptsd when it comes to the gym. Went to a normal gym and honestly, it scared me to death. I still had the fear of the gym(even private) but once Dave set me with Adrian(who would be the best trainer ever), I started slowly enjoying the gym and not be as afraid of the gym and people judging me. This place is the best. I'm 61 years old and started about a year ago and go 3-4 times per week. I just completed my 160th workout and I feel incredible. I'm so much stronger, have lost weight, and my kids, wife, and friends all are so amazed with the progress. I decided to sign up for Train With Dave because I had been experiencing periodic back pain for close to a year and was interested in learning better form for the exercises I do at home. I had tried physical therapy, changing mattresses, and improving my sitting posture, but the back pain persisted. Once I started training at TWD, I was lifting heavier weights than I had ever before and performing exercises that I was previously afraid would strain my back. I can't even begin to describe how great my experience has been with Train with Dave. Due to the pandemic, I had been on an almost 4-year hiatus from exercise and knew I had to get back into the habit of moving again to maintain my health and overall well-being. At 38 years old with no prior gym experience, I didn't know the first thing about working out. I had decided to prioritize my health at the new year. My goals were to swap fat for muscle, learn how to lift heavy to stave off osteoporosis, to learn good form and to avoid injury in the gym. What originally brought me to Train with Dave is their scientific approach to fitness and diet. They don't push trendy, extreme measures. Instead, they teach sustainable lifestyle changes. Although I'm at the beginning of this journey, I can already see changes taking effect. Everyone around me is commenting on how much toner I already look.
They assigned me to Gio and it has been a fantastic fit. I never dread showing up for the gym. I had tried some non gym fitness classes in the past and I used to absolutely dread the loud, smelly, frenzied environment. I feel peace as I approach this gym. The facility is clean, well ventilated and never feels overly crowded. There are no gym bros grunting their way through sets. Gio is as calm as a placid lake. He is thorough with his corrections but would never berate or scream at you. Its a sweaty, but almost meditative experience. He's great at monitoring for potential problems. Gio is on top of making any adjustments to the routine that is needed. The approach is personalized. He's well educated and well trained. I confidently recommend him to my friends.
The app they provide has been incredibly helpful. It gamifies the process and makes me more competitive with myself. My diet is logged in daily and I receive guidance from Gio. I was given a lot of nutritional tips that have made getting the right macros feasible. I am never hungry. In fact, I don't believe I have ever been this full in my life, but my clothes are looser than ever. They're hands on with every aspect of your journey, from diet to training to at home workouts.
They're incredibly accommodating and flexible with scheduling. It makes it possible for me to train even with my erratic schedule.
I'm already so happy with my results, but I can't wait to see where I'll be 2 to 3 months from now. I have no regrets with the time and money I have invested into training at TWD and Gio.

I’m very happy with my decision to work with Lauren at Train With Dave in Orange. Not only have I lost weight, but I’m building both my strength & confidence to ensure I can continue with my outdoor adventures. My personal goal was to lose body fat and after 10 months I am down 6.5% body fat, currently at 13%! I have been lifting weights somewhat consistently for the past 8 years and always struggled with getting body fat below 17-18% while also putting on muscle and progressing in strength at the same time.
My trainer was able to customize my macros to help with gaining muscle mass and see deficiencies in my strength and form that I wouldn't have been able to see myself. But due to a work schedule change involving lots of overtime, I had to switch to a gym closer to my home in Irvine and contacted Dave. Jacob then entered, and we essentially continued where I had left off and beyond.
