I've recently joined TOA and glad I did. This requires a serious workout commitment (at my level) and know I've already been making progress! The one-on-one was important for me to make sure I'm up to date on form after several injuries and learning my limits while staying challenged for starters. That's the difference that places TOA above all the other trainers I've worked with before and ended up re injuring myself with another setback. This gym is the best fit and best of all, the TOA team is very knowledgeable and positive.

As an older adult I found myself searching for training specific to the needs of my aging body.
After some investigation I located Training the Older Adult.
The owner and trainer, John Thomas, is
attentive, friendly, and keeps the group very engaged. More importantly he understands the older adult requires more tailoring of intensity and type of exercise to meet their needs.
I really enjoy the sessions and appreciate how John routinely changed the exercise routines to keep the group engaged. I also get a thorough workout without concern about injuring myself due to John's attention to technique.
A bonus is learning about equipment I've never heard of-like a kettle ball!

John is excellent at customizing your workout so that you get challenged but not injured. This is a valuable skill and not all trainers out there do this well. Be sure to let him know of any prior injuries, arthritis or limitations. Weight lifting is great for building your strength. Many of us older adults know that strength builds bones, prevents dementia, reduces chronic pain, prevents falls and improves recovery from injuries. I highly encourage anyone to try out TOA if your are looking to get stronger. It's never too late.

I have been training with John for several months now after a long several years of neglecting my body. I have a rotator cuff tear along with some normal issues that come along with aging. Since Iβve been training my shoulder feels so much better and I feel stronger and more energetic overall. John is very aware of my issues and very diligent about pointing out anything Iβm doing wrong to keep me from getting hurt. I just told him today that this is the first time in a long time I have been able to sit on the floor to wrap Christmas presents without my neck hurting or my back hurting. I can get up off the floor easily and I donβt feel my age of 68 as I did before I started working out. The work out is challenging, but fun and the time goes by super fast being in the class with other fun people. I highly recommend this company. It is worth the investment in yourself! Go for it!

Started working with John when I was experiencing debilitating back pain. John listened to my concerns and developed a plan that quickly reduced my pain, improved mobility and flexibility and strength. He adjusts the workout regime / activity based on how my body feels or is responding. I appreciate his knowledge about what exercise best suites my needs, and mixes up the routines to avoid boredom. John adjusts his approach to meet his clients needs and motivation styles. I highly recommend John.

Im an 80 year old woman. I've been with John a couple of years now.
When I started, I was struggling with 5lb weights, and last week, I used a 35lb dumbbell.
I am stronger, healthier, and sturdier than I was before joining WFS. I also sleep SO much better and have much more energy.
John is sensitive to the aches and pains that come with age and has you work around and through them without hurting yourself.
I highly recommend John and WFS.

I started with John Thomas of Workforce over 5 years ago following back surgery. John Thomas puts together workouts that take my back condition into account and he has saved me from repeat spinal surgery. This is the only exercise program I have stuck with since leaving college. I am the last person anyone who knows me would expect to be writing a GLOWING review of any athletic training, much less the personal training John provides at Workforce Fitness Solutions but here I am and I hope I can encourage others to take advantage of John's skill and commitment to the success of his clients. John has worked miracles on my 73-year-old body and has made me feel so welcome, as have my partners in my training sessions. Joining WFS is the best gift I could ever have given myself and I say that without reservation. I started working with John because I've never been able to make myself keep exercising for more than about six weeks. Eight months later, I'm still showing up for workouts. John has a knack for knowing just how much to push me so that I'm working hard but not getting discouraged; how to deal with my elderly and overweight self; and how to work around injuries. When I started strength training, I was very inactive, had many aches and pains and was easily injured when I tried to be more active. Long story short, with Johnβs guidance, Iβm now stronger and more active, and less injury-prone.

I started working with John in the Summer of 2019 to pre-hab my hip prior to replacement surgery. Surgery was scheduled and postponed due to COVID and finally happened in the Fall of 2020.
During the year and a half prior to surgery I trained twice a week either in person or virtually and was miles ahead both before and following surgery. My confidence, strength and flexibility were huge factors in my recovery.
I have continued to work out at WFS twice weekly since my surgery and have developed a great camaraderie with those in our small group workout sessions.
I recommend WFS and John Thomas with the utmost confidence that he will help you achieve your fitness goals.

John's workouts are not only amazing and challenging but incredibly effective. I previously used Les Mills for several years and I have improved both my strength and mobility within just a few months working with John. My older sister, who has never exercised in her life, made such great improvements with John. I was intrigued to see how he could improve my running through strength and mobility work. His workouts have really helped. And I moved 80-100 lb bales of hay this summer for my horses so much easier! Thank you John. He is really focused on functional strength and adjusts each exercise for the individual's physical limitations such as a torn medial meniscus, etc. Every session is different so you don't get bored!
