Kendra is beyond rude and disrespectful! I signed up for a week pass with someone named Ney. He was very friendly and courteous. When I returned the next day to work out he was not there ,and Kendra was on the phone talking with a potential customer. After several minutes of question answering on the phone ,not once did Kendra acknowledge my presence by saying I will be right with you or anything to that extent. Ok. When she did finally get off the phone I explained that I was a new customer that had just purchased a week pass and wanted to check in. She had .me type my name in the comouter and coukd not locate me. She said that because I'm not in the system that I would be denied access and could not work out. Wow! I continued to explain that I had just signed up and even showed her my bank statement proving that $40 had been charged to my account from Training Zone just a day prior. She seemed flustered and upset but did let me in to the locker room .After I had changed and come out onto the floor again, she called me back to the front desk where she continued her rant how she can't find me and therefore cannot workout. I ,of course denied that and told her she was mistaken and I asked for her manager. Manager Kim showed up and we started the whole process over again. This has now gone on for 15 .minites and still I have not been let in yet. After looking around and reading the paper log book Manage Kim was able to locate me and said" oh he's not a member ,just a week pass" At this point and after having to go through such a process just to check in and being treated so rudely I decided that I didn't want to give Training Zone my business and asked to cancel my week pass.
The next week I decided to give it a other chance and again signed up for. day pass $20 with Ney. I had a good workout. The next day I called and spoke with Ney and asked if I could upgrade to a week pass for an additional $20 and he said that would probably be ok but he had to ask his manager. I went in and spoke directly with Manager Kim who obliged and accepted my additional $20 in cash to upgrade my "non membership status" to a week pass. Again, had a good workout.
When I returned the very next day, Kendra was working the front desk. I told her my name , asked for a lock for the locker and proceeded to the locker room. Again, when I arrived on the gym floor Kendra called me over to the front desk and told me that I only purchased a day pass and would not be allowed to workout. I told her that she was mistaken and explained the entire situation again, including details of who I talked with and when. She said that I was the one who was mistaken and that she was going to check with her manager and " come find me and not let me work out" I told her "yes please talk with your manager and "come find me " . She then told me that I was being "very rude and disrespectful" . I thought the same thing of her actually as I am the paying customer and this is how Kendra chooses to treat paying customers who are trying out the gym for the first time , before deciding to sign up for a committed membership. This woman is amazing!! I have never been treated to rudely not once but two times by the same angry Karen in my life! Needless to say , Karen did never " come find me" because I'm assuming that she talked with her manager who notified her that she was WRONG,and that I had paid in full for a week pass like I had been telling her all along. At the very least this Karen owed me an apology, but when I left the gym she was nowhere in sight and the front desk was unattended when I dropped off my borrowed lock. If you're reading this Karen, the customer is always right , and you better be sure that I am writing a letter to Corporate to let them know your constant and continued mistreatment of paying customers at Training Zone,as I am sure that I am not the only one who feels this way. I hope you don't have a job there next month after your higher ups see how you treat customers. Maybe you should be a COP , that seems to be more up your alley. #OMG WOW

Training Zone is a great gym, with excellent facilities. I appreciate that the monthly fee is very reasonable. The gym is well attended and well maintained. When a machine goes down, it gets repaired quickly. They offer scads of classes with a good variety specialties. The membership has a lot of seniors so my wife isn’t intimidated by us being the only old members. Kevin, Kim, Lily and the rest of the staff and instructors are super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this gym.

This gym feels like family!!!! It gives a small town vibe and The staff are all absolutely the SWEETEST!!! They remember details about you, and really go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. I always leave feeling so supported!! Christian especially is a rockstar- she is sooo empathetic and the biggest cheerleader. If you need to be gassed up- she’s your girl!!! Thank you training zone for all the love!!

I warn you against signing up with this gym. I would highly recommend you try somewhere else like South Yuba. I am honestly disgusted with how I am being treated when i notified them that I wanted to cancel my membership. Additionally I will be looking into their their recording of all phone conversations. The first staff person i spoke with said that they record all conversations and this was confirmed by Kim the manager ---- well this is against California Penal Code 632 unless all parties consent (meaning everyone on the call must be made aware of and agree to the recordings. Recording without consent can result in a criminal prosecution). Rajinder Gill or Kim-- please change your course of action on this matter.

I want to start out with most of the staff is amazing but some not so much. some just don't care about u. the billing is stupid they say I can cancel with 30 days notice but what they don't tell u that if it's not the day before your renewal then it's really 60 days. it's absolutely stupid. my wife decided not to continue her membership because she dose not care for this gym and so we called and was told to do on line so we did and then now we get billed for another month! when i called i was told that we canceled in the beginning of the last bill so now we have to pay for another month? the girl on the phone didn't care or try to understand or off any help. so now we are paying for additional 30 day. I'm not sure why they can not just charge for a couple days extra or eat the couple day? seems like smoke and mirrors all the time.

Been coming for a year and this is the best gym I’ve ever been part of. Chris is a GEM! His Body Pump classes are absolutely LIT, and fill up fast (for good reason). I truly think he’s the best, most energetic instructor I’ve ever attended classes with. I look forward to his classs every Monday and Friday with my friends!

For that matter, all of their trainers are also wonderful. Alicia and Keith have assisted me in the past with periodic personal training assessments, which are included in the membership, and the front desk is good about greeting you when you walk in. I love it here.

I’ve been attending strength and conditioning classes at the Training Zone for 8 months. As a previous military family, we’ve been afforded the ability to be apart of some fantastic gyms around the US and this one ranks up there in one of my top 3 favorites. Everything is just done right, from coaches, staff, to equipment. You can tell this place is well run and people truly enjoy working here. It’s a wonderful environment to step into and I miss the gym on my rest days. The workouts are designed to always keep your body guessing and you get pushed really hard, harder than I would ever push myself alone. However, the coaches are vigilant and class sizes are small enough that they are making sure you aren’t doing anything that will cause an injury. I highly recommend the Training Zone!

I still see that some members have restrictive access, but are not stopped and questioned by staff members. My retiree benefits indicate that I'm supposed to have a FREE membership, but I'm being charged $15 a month. Training Zone must stay consistent. If it's granted for one, it should be granted to all. Other than that, I don't have many complaints. May some new treadmills would be nice!

The most unprofessional gym I've been to. It's run by a lot of high school students and extremely overpriced for the worst gym in Grass Valley. Also, don't take your kids here if you don't want them in front of a TV or sitting in soiled diapers. The teenage girls in there are constantly on their phones, gossiping and not paying attention. All the kids are in one small room- little and big kids. I picked up my son several times with poopy diapers and the last straw was when one of the girls wanted to argue with me and make excuses as to why he had been sitting in his soiled diaper for so long. Her response was "well, we don't change their diapers unless they let us." Um, if that was the case then he would never get his diaper changed and he's not even TWO! Or at least notify me so I can change his diaper.

The setup inside is really odd and not to mention being in a shopping center with terrible parking. Save your money and go to South Yuba Club or better yet- just don't join here.

I've been going to Training Zone Grass Valley 3-4 times per week for 9 months...

Today I came into the gym, to find out that my membership had expired. No notice, just pay us now. I spoke with the lady in front (shoulder length dark brown hair) to discuss options.

She told me I could renew at 6 months or monthly for 60 dollars a month. I asked her at that time if she could do any better, she couldn't apparently.
After my workout I approached her again, asking if she could do any better than 60 dollars a month as I'll probably not be back for that price. I said 'This gym isn't really worth 60 per month and I could probably find better, but the location is good". I think I insulted her, or she became very stiff with one word answers, yes and no.

Oh well, I've been going to gyms all over California for 30 years, this one has A LOT of weights, and old used cardio equipment. I am sure I can do better. Thanks for being so rigid T.Z. and not having any loyalty programs. I hope you figure out how to keep your customers.

P.S. The locker rooms are tiny, no personal space when changing. Showers are fine and they have a portable, deck sauna in the locker room.

Not a bad gym. Open 24/7. Infrared single person sauna in each locker room. Extensive free weights and barbells. I’ve never had to wait for a machine. Classes are geared more towards seniors and lifters so if you’re looking for extensive yoga and dance maybe look elsewhere.

Simple and the staff is very friendly. The gym is clean which is great. Definitely missing some key equipment and it looks like they haven't purchased anything new in 20 years, probably more. There's some equipment nobody uses and that should replace with something that is more effective. If I owned this place I would definitely reorganize it, there's a bit of wasted space. If they had any real competition this place would really struggle.
If you want it inexpensive gym with most of the basic stuff then this is definitely a great place

Training Zone Grass Valley was well represented by Taylor she is a huge asset to TZ! I'm very critical as I was a former GM at a club with over 7k members! Keep her challenged and happy! TZ is a good place to exercise for all ages of people, overall the Team's productivity is low. When the owner is present he carries the load when he's not a lot of time the team is hanging out at the desk. Could have a few more rules like not dropping of weights and monitoring who's not wiping down equipment. Despite my critical comments TZ is still the Best in GV! Challenge take it to the next Level!!!
Yes, Kevin (Owner)is taking the leadership role. The only continuous issue is productivity of the Team when he is not present. Seems as the music changes to a very questionable selection which can be offensive. Keep the improvements goin

I like this gym a lot as far as the equipment offered and the layout of the gym itself. Only ever seen one machine down and its rarely so busy that you have to wait to use specific things. The staff is friendly and it's generally clean.

The only glaring problem with this gym; the HORRIBLE stench of Indian food that permeates the whole building. Something needs to be done about this! I don't want to leave the gym with my clothes stained with the smell of curry. It makes it hard to workout on the treadmills upstairs in the middle of the day when their kitchens are actually cooking food, the smell is overpowering.

South Yuba Club is more expensive but it doesn't reek of tikka masala. PLEASE Training Zone, do something about this issue!!

If I could give them 0 stars for customer service, I would. Not only did they β€œrearrange” the workout equipment that makes it very difficult to work out at peak times, but was told β€œit is what it is” and β€œwe are sad to see you go.” Nothing about fixing the problem, finding solutions, customer retention, anything like that. I would NOT recommend Training Zone unless you like a cold, unfriendly atmosphere with 0 desire to listen to their current customer base.

While I was in town I had a great experience at The Training Zone. The staff was really friendly, especial Landon. Always there to answer any questions and I even saw Landon helping others with their form to prevent injuries -- nothing shows a gym cares about their members more than wanting them to stay healthy and injury free by sharing knowledge and not just reserving it for only "paid training" members.

I was also pleasantly surprised how clean the gym was. Lots of members using the disinfectant wipes strategically placed around the gym. The staff was tiding up and reracking weights almost hourly -- none of the big box gyms do that near me -- it's always a mess with them. Training Zone was tidy and organized. The bathrooms were really clean too.

I love how they adjust the music at night to better fit the attendees. The 70s rock isnt a good fit when everyone in the weight room was born in the 90s haha, but Landon and the other staff tuned the music to be more contemporary and upbeat during the evenings to keep the energy level up.

Whenever I'm back in town I'm definitely going back to The Training Zone. Hands down the best all around gym in Grass Valley.

I started in December and enjoyed it. I had to put my account on hold because I was moving for a couple of months and while I was gone I got charged $25 during the month of April and they didn’t tell me why when I had called. I was told I had to cancel my membership a month in advance but I had a friend go in two days before she would get charged again and got it canceled with no problem because she knew the person. I went in and canceled mine in July (month in advance) and got charged for August. I went in and talked to someone and they didn’t do anything and I had to call a week later to talk to someone to cancel my membership and refund me for the month of August..
