This is a long overdue review! I'm extremely grateful to Tribe for helping me stay healthy and stronger since I joined 2 years ago. I was looking for ways to stay active while working from home and living with autoimmune disease. Having chronic health issues made me prioritize stress management and movement, but also be conscious of my body and find the balance between challenging myself and rest when needed. I love the friendly vibe of the gym (not the typical I have seen in other places) and that their schedule offers a wide variety of options, including strength and yoga classes, coaching, and seasonal challenges.
I was looking for a gym close to my home and ended up finding a great and fun community! If you're looking for a new way to stay active and healthy in San Francisco, you should try their 6-week challenge at Tribe!

It's been a while since I've visited Tribe, but I still highly recommend them to all my friends because it's where I started my fitness journey and I'm so glad I did.
To be clear, Tribe isn't just a place for beginners, as I witnessed many fitness pros mixed into classes just trying to improve. For me, I was someone who never exercised in their life beyond running around with friends as a child. I was nervous because I was afraid of how foolish I'd look with no experience and lack of balance, but I knew I needed hands on help and support to learn, something I couldn't get through an app. Tribe exceeded my expectations by showing me patience, giving me grace, celebrating my wins, keeping me accountable, and overall making me feel like part of the tribe. You get more than fitness support when you sign up, you get community. Losing 30lbs ended up being just a bonus. :)
I'm writing this review late because I recommended them to another friend today and it reminded me of how much I miss it. So I'll be looking into classes soon.

Tribe is an awesome fitness community I have been a part of for the past 4 months, and it has genuinely motivated me to bring my best self to each and every strength training workout week-over-week. I came out of every semi-private training session feeling better than I did going into each, and I can't credit Coach Quinn and Coach Erica enough for being the best motivators in the game!
I highly recommend Tribe for folks who are looking for a fitness community that is accountable, kind, and knowledgeable. Coach Quinn taught me so much about nutrition, kinesiology, and recovery; all of which I'm excited to take with me for the rest of my life.

This review is long overdue, but it comes from the deepest part of my heart: TRIBE has truly changed—and saved—my life.
When I joined last year, I was at one of my lowest points. What I found wasn’t just a gym, it was a community, a family, a lifeline. The coaches, especially Billy, go so far beyond training. I’ll never forget when I was going through a really rough time and Billy looked me in the eye and said, “We’re not going anywhere. We’ll always be here for you.” That moment stuck with me. Because he meant it. And they’ve shown up for me ever since.
In the time I’ve been here, I’ve lost 30 pounds, I can actually see my abs for the first time ever, and I’m lifting heavier than I thought was possible for me. But even more important than the physical changes are the mental ones. I feel stronger, braver, and more grounded because I know I’m never doing this alone.

I've been a member of Tribe SF for three months now, and I can honestly say it's one of the best decisions I've made for my fitness and overall well-being. The classes are consistently challenging and thoughtfully structured, and the instructors are top-notch -- knowledgeable, encouraging, and attentive to form. I really appreciate how they take the time to correct technique, which has helped me avoid injury and improve more quickly.
What sets Tribe apart, though, is the community. There's a genuine sense of connection among members, and I've really enjoyed getting to know like-minded people who are all there to better themselves. It's a welcoming, positive environment that's made it easy to stay motivated and accountable -- something I've struggled with in other gyms or fitness classes.

I’ve been training at Tribe SF’s Columbus location for the past two months, and it has quickly become one of the most energizing and supportive parts of my weekly routine. The small-group personal training format is truly the best, offering the right balance of personalized coaching and community motivation. The trainers are knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in your progress. Shout out to Coach Erica and Quinn.
What really sets Tribe apart is their holistic approach. It’s not just about showing up to lift weights; the program also includes nutrition guidance, accountability check-ins, and progress tracking, which keeps me focused and motivated even outside the gym.

Truly one of the best gyms I've ever been a part of. They offer a lot under one roof, and the coaches are extremely knowledgeable, supportive and motivating. Tribe been a game-changer for me. I thought building muscle and losing fat at the same time would be too hard and not realistic, but going through the 6-week challenge made me realize it's totally doable going in with a plan and the support of the Tribe staff.
The workouts are effective and the coaches make sure you’re progressing without burning out. I was worried that with my shoulder tightness I'd have trouble with certain exercises, but with assistance from coaches Erica and Morgan and physical therapist Matt, I've gotten stronger, leaner, and more confident in the gym.
Tribe is a great place to start (or continue) building great health and exercise habits.

I joined Tribe’s 6-week program mid-2024 aiming to make a change in my lifestyle and develop better habits, with the ultimate goal of developing a wellness routine I could continue for the long-term. It has been an awesome experience and delivered in spades. Highlights for me:
(1) Results. I lost >10lbs of fat, and put on >3lbs of muscle, in 6 weeks. As a result, I stayed on post-program and went on to lose an additional >10lbs of fat to date. If you put in the effort and listen to their guidance, the Tribe formula works
(2) Overall wellness vs. solely fitness. Beyond working out, the Tribe philosophy is one that centers around balance, nutrition, and community. This resonated with what I was looking for
(3) Developed ‘forever’ habits. Since starting at Tribe, I have averaged >9K steps of walking each day, and I have rarely gone a week without at least some physical activity. It has 100% become a part of my lifestyle and routine, which has been a major positive change
(4) Great coaching. All were solid, but Billy and Erica are especially fantastic!
(5) Fun. It was very motivating working out with other folks at group classes/SPTs. It positively challenged me and made time during classes (which can be tough!) pass by much quicker
(6) Flexible & values-centered. I really appreciate the flexibility Tribe showed when I needed to pause my program, shift a class here and there, or do an alternative exercise in a class because of an injury/discomfort. There was never any aggressive pushing or penny-pinching.
(7) Additional classes, challenges and community building. Tribe hosts complimentary classes on things like nutrition/mental health, optional monthly challenges to supercharge your wellness, and provides opportunities to bring friends in. I’ve brought colleagues over as part of some of these structured challenges, and they’ve enjoyed these!
Tribe may not be the best place if you’re highly advanced in your fitness journey and looking to delve into a niche fitness activity e.g. working on arms only (unless you go the personal trainer and/or open gym route). Their workouts are more holistic/full body. For me, there’s little to complain about. I’m a huge fan and would do it all again if I could. Thank you for everything, Tribe!

I’ve been a member of Tribe since October 2024, and have had much better results than I’ve had at any other gym. I started with the 6-week challenge, then carried on with a mix of semi-private training and group sessions.
The game-changer for me has been the coaching – for nutrition, movement, and accountability. All of the trainers and other members are super friendly, and there’s a real sense of community.
Highly recommend if you want to get back into working out, or you have a specific goal in mind you’d like help reaching.

I rarely leave reviews of places I frequent but I often read reviews before I make decisions. Tribe is a really great decision that I made. They found me through an instagram ad and I met Billy in their North Beach studio in May of 2024. Although skeptical at first, I did their 6 week challenge I lost about 13lb and began my functional training/workout journey and I am forever grateful for the experience. I'd say this is a great program for beginners and experienced folks alike.
I would highly recommend Tribe to anyone looking for a holistic program that informs you not only about exercising, but nutrition as well. For overall health and results, you really also need to change what you eat. From the coaches, they are all amazing and I'd say Billy's classes are crazy intense (in a good way!) while Erica's classes are very fun to take. I've also taken Quinn and Georgio's classes from time to time and found them to be enjoyable with their own teaching styles. I mainly spent my time in HIIT, Strength, and Rowing class and you should definitely decide what to do based on your goals. The challenges every few months are also fun... but a big part of them seem to be around accountability.
There are plenty of other fitness programs that exist out there, but if you're looking for a community of people from very diverse backgrounds but who support each other and are goal driven -- Tribe is the place to be!

For a number of reasons I had been away from working out for quite a while and having trouble breaking through and getting started. I found Tribe through online research and was drawn to the idea of detailed fitness and nutrition coaching and a community. If you are at all interested in learning how to safely and effectively incorporate heavy weights into your routine, this is a great place to get that education. It's really hard to put my experience at Tribe into adequate words, so check out the before-and-after pictures for a quick look!
I came to Tribe a few years ago, and I didn't know how I'd let things go to the point they were health-wise. I no longer felt control over my habits, my nutrition, over myself as a whole. As a former collegiate athlete, it killed me to have that realization. Before finding Tribe, I tried a bunch of programs and coaches around SF and didn't have much success. Eventually, I joined a 3-month challenge at Tribe, with pretty meager expectations.
Wow, from the moment I arrived, I realized how different their approach was. The questions Nick asked me from the beginning were more than just pounds, calories, steps, etc. They were questions about me and my needs.
The 3-month challenge was... HARD! The workouts push you and the nutrition aspect takes commitment. But Nick, Billy, Georgio, Erica, Quinn, and others are there for you, with positive encouragement, advice, insights... I've gone to some classes at other places in SF and have felt terrible being yelled at for not doing enough or apparently not trying hard enough. But at Tribe, every little win was celebrated and uplifted.
After the challenge ended, I stayed with Tribe because I loved their approach to building community and supporting individuals as a whole. I saw how this was creating a fundamental lifestyle change, rather than just a quick weight-loss fix that gets cancelled out as soon as it's over.
I'm only leaving because of moving out of town, and I'm SO SO bummed about it. I know it will be hard or impossible to find another Tribe elsewhere, but the tools and mindset I've found with Tribe is coming with me and will continue to benefit me wherever I go.
Point is... join Tribe! Commit to yourself and to what you want and deserve out of your life, and they'll make sure they do their absolute best to get you there!

Tribe is the best!
We started with the six-week transformation and haven't looked back. Tribe's philosophy on health, mixed with the semi-private and class rotation, has been the most significant factor in regaining confidence and control of my overall wellness.
Each coach is fantastic - they are knowledgeable in their craft and pros at balancing the fine line of motivation and holding me and my partner accountable.
Beyond all of that, a huge factor in making Tribe magical is the community they have built - I've met the nicest people who feel like they will be genuine friends. I don't cancel on my classes because I want to see these people and commit to myself.

I joined the Tribe about two months ago with the intention of improving my overall physical, emotional and mental health.
Tribe's ethos really spoke to me because their approach is holistic and the culture they've created is one that fosters empowerment, continuous growth and community. While I have yet to meet the entire team, so far every coach I have had the opportunity to work with has been so clearly passionate, skilled and highly experienced in their craft and so thoughtful in their guidance. They all seem to have struck a magical balance of being not just encouraging but also consistently challenging, with constant, gentle pressure, so that your own bar continues to rise. I am consistently surprised that I can feel myself getting stronger every day, in many different ways.
So far, working with them has given me the opportunity to create healthier, more sustainable habits for diet and movement, while inspiring me to find ways to integrate intentional movement into my daily routine. The coaches have guided me through more challenging, at first defeating, moments, and have had the sensitivity and expertise to show me how to bounce back and keep showing up for myself; they have shown me that little wins add up, and have taught me to have courage and the confidence to keep going. Here, wellness is a holistic practice and a lifestyle, and they put forth so much effort into not only conveying the importance of balancing all aspects wellness, but also show you how to do so.

I have been coming to this gym for approximately 6 weeks for their Transformation Challenge and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a small group of fitness instructors that have a true passion for coaching and they have done an immense job in correcting my form so that my workouts are optimal. The nutritional aspect of this challenge has been exceptional and has played an immense role in my health and wellness journey. Prior to coming I did not know what macros were and how the balance was so essential. This is what I have enjoyed most about this gym - being able to talk to someone for nutrition coaching and having people you can be accountable to. They truly walk you through all the steps. I will be continuing with this gym for the foreseeable future.

Loved working with Tribe! I was looking for something that combined a nutritionist with personal training and this fit the bill. I did semi-private training 3x a week for 3 months, working out with 3 other people each time which I preferred to my own trainer. All of the trainers have their own styles and energy, so I learned new tips each week. I had amazing results, even with a back problem that severely hindered my mobility, and learned how to modify the exercises to be comfortable and effective. I only ended my time since I moved out of SF, and I miss the wonderful crew!

Did Tribe's 6 week transformation. It was a great experience. All the teachers are welcoming and really pay attention to what you're doing. (I learned I've been doing lunges wrong my whole life.) Doing the 6 week program really helped to kickstart me back into regular exercise again.

Embarking on the 6-week workout challenge was truly transformative. From the initial goal-setting workshop, where I defined my 'why', to the consistent support and camaraderie within the tribe community, every step felt empowering. I committed to working out 4 to 5 times a week and adopted healthier eating habits, which made all the difference.
The results speak volumes: I trimmed 5.2 lbs of body fat (a remarkable 13.3% decrease) and witnessed a significant drop of 2.7% in body fat percentage relative to total weight. What's more, I gained 3.1 lbs of muscle, a 5.7% increase, and saw my BMI decrease by 0.8 (a 2.7% reduction).

Tribe Fitness has been amazing for my fitness journey. Before I joined Tribe, I struggled to work out consistently and I didn’t see sustainable results from the diets and workouts I tried. I had experienced back pain from lifting incorrectly in the past so I was nervous about lifting weights.

I had moved to a new neighborhood in San Francisco, and I had been feeling that my workout routine had plateaued. I usually had tried to work out with runs, functional strength training, and ad-hoc Fitness+ workouts.
I just felt like I was no longer progressing.
I found Tribe through their 6 week challenge, and was able go from 17% Body Fat to 15% body fat while increasing muscle mass. It was great to see that with less amount of total exercise time, with more intensity, as well as focus on lower body, upper body, and functional workouts, that I was seeing more progress. I highly recommend classes with Billy. He's definitely my favorite trainer, and is always focused on pushing you in every class, as well as ensuring proper form.
I recently ran the Golden Gate Half Marathon and broke a personal record on miles per minute (8 minute mile). I was impressed to see that strength and conditioning workouts that Tribe was providing was helping me with my running more than running more would have.

Did the 6-week challenge and lost 10 pounds of body fat. Coach Billy has an incredibly invigorating and infectious w every. Having a bad day and don’t wanna show up? Do it anyway and you won’t regret it. After a strenuous 45 minute workout you’ll immediately feel better. My nutritionist Erin that I was paired with helped me track food and intake calories and stay accountable. The Tribe community is supportive, friendly and supportive. Each gym has its followers like Barry’s or Equinox. Tribers are an incredible genuine and friendly bunch of mixed business professionals and entrepreneurs that like to stay fit and have a high bar. One of my favorite activities that Billy, Nick and their team are organizing are the monthly get-togethers: whether it is perfecting your deadlifts, rowing technique or a picnic in Dolores Park.

I started this program with no specific weight loss goals because I didn't know what results I could get from it, but I only had the objective of gaining more strength and getting back on track with better nutrition habits. I came to Tribe Fitness because I needed help losing my “Covid 19” but I absolutely HATED going to the gym. It was intimidating and unfriendly and I would usually just end up injuring myself after a session or two. The folks at Tribe made me feel instantly comfortable with their friendly and positive approach. I've seen such a difference in not only my physical appearance but also mentally and how I approach fitness now. Throughout the weeks, I've learned that I really do enjoy weight lifting and HIIT and now I even look forward to working out (which was definitely not the case 6 weeks ago). I've lived in several different cities and been a member of various gyms through the years from boutique places like Crossfit, Orange Theory, and various yoga-focused gyms to larger full service big box gyms like Equinox and without a doubt Tribe is the best gym I've been a member of to date. Tribe stands out for 2 key reasons: 1) the community and 2) the results.
Most smaller gyms have a sense of community that helps them differentiate from the big box gyms where members tend to feel more anonymous, but the culture that Nick and Billy and their team have cultivated is truly unique in that everyone I've met are genuinely good people that support each other regardless of their fitness level, age, goals, etc. No matter how tired from work or sore from previous workouts I might be, I look forward to coming to class at Tribe in large part just because I like the people there so much.
And the results... although I've been active most my life, between years of isolation from the pandemic and crossing over into my 40s, I had really fallen off the wagon from a fitness standpoint before joining Tribe. To make matters even more challenging, I have limitations in what I can do from old injuries to my shoulders and knees (which are only made worse by siting at a desk all day), but none of these issues have been obstacles for the Tribe team. All of the Tribe coaches have helped me scale workouts as necessary for my unique limitations and the mix of HIIT, Strength, Rowing and Yoga keeps things interesting and keeps me coming back week after week. As a result, since joining Tribe 9 months ago, I've steadily lost close to 20 pounds, 7% of body fat, and most importantly I feel more fit and more like an athlete again than I have in many years.

I’ve been with the Tribe community since just shortly before the pandemic. So, my experience has been mostly virtual. It’s been an incredible place that has grounded me through the women’s group, workouts every week - through semis, hiit classes, and now privates. Tribe is by far the most engaging, high-quality, and comprehensive fitness studio I’ve ever been to. Not only that, but it has led me to achieve the best (and honestly beyond my wildest expectations...) fitness results I’ve ever had: losing 20 lbs and 6% body fat in 3 months, always having fun, and never feeling like a burden!
The classes are varied, engaging, and the energy is fantastic. They also offer semi-private PT lessons (which I started after the initial 6-week ‘ramp-up’ challenge) that are a great complement (and an awesome deal!) to the group classes, allowing you to focus more on improving form/technique and building strength to get out even more from the group classes.
But beyond the quality of the classes, three things really make Tribe stand out above anything I’ve tried before. First, the focus on accountability, which is provided both through an app (with super useful data!) and also personally by Billy, Nick, and the whole Tribe team, who are supportive when needed, but also ‘get you to not bs’ or invent excuses when required.
Second is the nutritional guidance that is offered. After trying to achieve my fitness goals in different studios/gyms, it became clear that to achieve results just working out a few times a week won’t be enough. Instead, having healthy (and sustainable!) eating habits matter as much. But knowing what to do has always been the real challenge. Tribe solves this problem by offering (inclusive of the subscription!) 1:1 calls with Meghan, an expert nutritionist. This was the perfect solution for me because it gave me the education I was missing on how to make smarter eating decisions (including providing custom meal plans) while also keeping me once again accountable.
Lastly, I love the sense of community they create which is simply awesome and full of fantastic people who just like me want to stay healthy, achieve their fitness goals, and have a good time. And the cool thing is this goes beyond the ‘studio’ with monthly social or charity events.
Tribe has been an incredible discovery in between the ton of fitness/wellness solutions in the city. Highly recommend anybody to try it out and join the Tribe!

I mean where can I begin! This place is awesome! Billy and the crew were amazing! Top notch service! Classes were sooo much fun! So much I’m now about to commit for a year membership because it’s worth it. They’re revamping the place and most importantly expanding! That’s always a good sign of a well done job! This is hands down the BEST strength, conditioning, and overall mind/body training I have EVER had. I have tried everything else—Orange Theory, Barry's, Rumble, Soul Cycle, etc. While those are effective too, I wanted to find a studio with a more personalized approach like helping me track my personal progress and attentive form correction.
I waited to write a review until I took nearly all of their offerings—HIIT, Rowing, Strength, Yoga, even the "Eating for a Healthier You" session. Both in-person (which I strongly recommend) and a few virtual while traveling. All top notch—Billy, Erin, Natalie, and Nick really know their craft AND seem to know everyone by name (a nice touch).
For context, my goal was health, strength, then physique in that order. Each has improved significantly. This helped me rebound from pandemic blues and extra weight. My chronic back/neck pains became sparse. From the outside, I have biceps and ab tone the first time—along with dropping literally 4 dress sizes. Best of all, I feel confident and strong again.
Lastly, it helped me set myself up for a healthy rebound after serious surgery. Plus, I noticed that after a recent half marathon race, I have never recovered faster. This is no exaggeration—I'm talking 1-2 days of some soreness versus a week of recovery. I honestly can't say enough praise about Tribe. I credit them for helping me find my inner athlete again.

During the consultation I wrote down what I wanted out of this experience such as increased confidence, prove to myself that I can do it, and weight loss to name a few. I joined Tribe’s 6 week program to lose weight before my wedding and to just get into an overall healthier lifestyle. I’ve tried other programs before but always lost motivation halfway through. With Tribe that wasn’t a problem at all and in just 6 weeks (including a weekend for my bachelor party) I lost 13lbs! This was mainly due to the immense support from Billy and Nick as well as the culture they have built. Even though I was a complete newbie in this space of physical health, the instructors at Tribe were super warm and very welcoming. They helped me set reasonable goals, understand sustainable nutrition and how to track it, corrected my form, advised me on the type of classes that I should take and helped me progress throughout my 6 week plan. What I love the most of this community is the ease with which I can approach any of the coaches and the immediate feedback that I get from them!
Having now completed the 6 week challenge, I see a lot of changes in my body. In addition to reaching my goals, the biggest wins for me was feeling active and engaged throughout the day as compared to being tired and lethargic in the afternoons. I have also started to eat healthier and cleaner which has improved my gut health!

(A long due review!) I signed up for the six-week program, and the best part of the program was the coaching team. In particular, Billy and Nick were upbeat, motivating newbies and recurring participants. I loved how they focused on the fundamentals of performing a squat, deadlift, pushup, or lunge. They balanced the weekly workout schedule so that one could do HIIT everyday. Also, weekly 1:1s were beneficial learning about macros consumption and planning meals. Billy, Erin, Nick, and Spencer have all been great coaches in person that motivate the team in an authentic and personable way. I always look forward to class because I know I’ll get a focused workout that contributes to my goals and learn a thing or two from the session that I can apply to my workouts at home.
I’m coming up on my 6th week at Tribe at over 10 lbs down, new muscle, and more confidence. I’ve gained new skills that will allow me to manage my weight in a healthy and lasting way, and plan to keep the Tribe team around to help keep me accountable in my next phase of fitness goals.

Everyone over at tribe is so friendly and really know how to make fitness accessible at all experience levels. A friend and I popped into the Wednesday yoga class and Nick does a great job at giving you different options for doing the moves which made it being my first time back in a yoga class way less intimidating. I've been a regular at Tribe for around 9 months, and I have to say it's the best gym in the city.
The classes at Tribe are top notch, that perfect balance of high-energy fun and challenge. But what really makes Tribe stand out are the instructors. Not only are they immensely qualified as individual athletes, but they also give a level of personalized instruction that's just hard to find anywhere else.
The group classes never feel too large because they're giving constant feedback on how to improve your form. They keep tabs on your progress and will probably know when to go up in weight before you do. And, they'll call you out if they catch you slacking (we all need it from time to time). You'll feel the burn at the end of class...but you'll also feel that these instructors really, really care.
Not to oversell my point, but just these past two weeks I've been recovering from a shoulder injury, and Billy checked in with me multiple times and planned my workouts in advance just so I could continue going to class (isn't he the best?). That's just one example of the level of dedication that Tribe shows its members.
I highly, highly recommend joining Tribe, especially if you're just starting your fitness journey and could use a bit more instruction. I especially recommend their semi-private sessions, where they take that hands-on instruction to the next level.
Come join us! You'll get amazing workouts, meet great people, and have a ton of fun. I'd give em 10 stars if I could!

Tribe SF is where it’s at!
Most of my classes were with Billy; he’s the best. He’s high energy, plays great music, and isn’t shy about making adjustments to your form.
The workouts are high intensity interval training, with both cardio and strength training, which is the style of training I enjoy. They explain in detail and show you each of the movements at the beginning of the class, so you understand what to do. The intervals aren’t too short either, so you have the time to “get the hang of the move” before switching to the next move.
Lastly, my favorite thing about Tribe is that you’re not just another number to them. They remember your name, your injuries, how your progress has been, what you need to work on. If I still lived in SF, I would still be going to Tribe.

They really care about your well-being. They are always energetic, trying to help you do better in right way. They don't just stand there and watch you do however you want to do. They actually show how to do RIGHT WAY which is very important in any work out for not getting injured, and get best out of it while working out!

My fitness level is somewhere between intermediate to advanced, so it was really challenging to find a workout class that is both challenging and fun until I found Tribe SF.
Tribe SF offers a range of workout classes that fit any needs. I particularly like the efficient and effective 45 min HIIT class by Billy and the strength training class by Erin.
Also, people are friendly and kind, making a visit to the studio much more enjoyable.

I began working out at Tribe in January of 2019 and I cannot say enough amazing things about Tribe, the instructors, and the community. I have done the group classes, yoga classes, private training and semi private training. Following a knee injury I worked 1:1 with Georgio for personal training and it made a monumental impact on my recovery, I am now able to participate in semi private and group classes again knowing I received coaching on my form and feel confident with all of the exercises (and am also using heavier weights than ever before!!). Nick and the rest of the team at TribeSF have really put together a holistic wellness experience that has tremendously benefitted my mind, body, and soul. I've been keeping up with my yoga better than ever, and I feel fantastic! The group mindfulness meditation and Women's Performance Success Accelerator have started me on a path that I never thought I'd have the courage and fortitude to take. I'm not quite exactly sure how I would have survived the pandemic without this group. I was referred to Tribe in February of 2020, right before lockdown and right before having my son. Even when the lockdown happened, I continued training with Tribe until right before I gave birth, and have continued personal training and group classes with them virtually ever since. It is such an amazing community, and the support of the trainers and members have helped me get through childbirth in quarantine feeling so strong and fit! I would highly recommend Tribe.

A friend recommended tribe’s zoom workout classes mid-pandemic and I started thinking I’d try one month and haven’t looked back! I love the variety of classes and time options for live classes as well as the recorded classes I can do miss the live ones. Billy, Nick and the other Tribe folks are all fantastic! I look foreword to my workouts all week. Workouts are even harder than some of my pre-pandemic workout classes and there’s such a strong sense of community even in the virtual format. I will def continue to do these even when things are more “normal.” Could not recommend more highly.

I've known Nick and Billy for years, and when they told me that they wanted to open a gym it dawned on me that this was not only a good idea but a GREAT idea.
Rarely do you find fitness trainers that live, eat, breathe, and study fitness in the same way as these guys. Not only that, but they make it a point to surround themselves with exceptional fitness trainers so that you as the client get a fun and challenging workout and an exceptional experience.

Tribe has an excellent combination of reasonably-sized classes taught by excellent instructors who have the time and interest to make sure that each student has the proper form. The owners Nick and Billy are passionate about their clients and their individual success. I've attended about 20 of the HIIT and 4x4 classes so far and always get a workout that is challenging and loads of fun. They have also created a place with a sense of community that ties the mind and body together.

Tribe is starting to whip me back into shape! I havent consistently gone to the gym in 7 years but class is fun and close enough to my apt that I try to go every morning. All the classes vary and you're always doing something different even though the focus is on your core. It is helping a lot with my cardio too. Within a short 4 weeks i've seen improvements. I went into Tribe with just a general goal of getting more fit and learning how to do the things they yell at you to do at Barry's Bootcamp correctly (and without hurting myself). 6 months later, and I'm feeling stronger than I ever have before and empowered to keep improving. I'm doing semi-private workouts and their general classes, and I'm loving the attention to technique, community (everyone is so nice and encouraging), and the small class sizes. All the instructors are amazing and care about your progress. Thanks for helping this dancer/yogi get stronger all around.

I took Natalie's rowing class on 6/7/19 while visiting San Francisco from Vermont. Although I'm an experienced indoor rower, this was my first group rowing experience. The combination of core exercises, yoga poses, and rowing sets really challenged my endurance and left me with shaking legs and a new appreciation for core and chest strength. I especially appreciated Natalie's emphasis on proper rowing technique. I would definitely take another exercise class here!

People who manage this place take a personal approach to your fitness, they become your buddies and the people with whom you train act as your cheer leaders. The classes are challenging (but fun!), combining kettlebells, dumbbells, interval training, and rowers. I also go the the small group training where I can get a more personalized workout.

This is my favorite Gym in all of SF! Located off Columbus, in North Beach, Tribe offers HIIT based rowing and weights classes which I absolutely love! They also offer yoga and meditation if that’s your fancy.
This is a family owned gym, Billy and Nick do an amazing job and it shows! They are so personable and offer great work outs in an intimate class size.
I highly recommend Tribe and all their instructors!

If you are a mindful athlete and you're not going to Tribe SF - you're missing out! With a background in mostly yoga and running the gym and weights were always intimidating to me. My company started corporate classes here and I couldn't love it more. The space is adorable, equipment is new (not smelly) and most importantly the teaches are good looking - JK! Most importantly the classes are amazing! Regardless of the class size the teachers create great workouts that push each person to their personal best. They stress form and safety, which in my experience is rare in gyms/HIIT classes to make sure you're setting your body up for ultimate success. I've taken HIIT classes and yoga classes, and have all around been impressed. Definitely give it a shot if you work or live in the area!! Kudos to these dudes for doin' it right!

I belong to 2 gyms and Tribe SF is completely different. It is tucked away within a private atmosphere where one can focus psychically, spiritually and mentally on an earnest yoga and fitness workout. Its ambiance is completely different then a then the bigger gyms so there is more emphasis on the workout. The yogi's and fitness trainers are completely professional and motivational, yet they will give you a full work out. It has a great vibe.

Review is for strength + conditioning class with johan. i like the structure of class - similar to barry's but i like the rowing in lieu of running for less impact to knees. class is challenging and can be altered to skill level based on how hard you push yourself. johan is a good instructor - good about commenting on incorrect form and inserts witty comments throughout class. nice vibe in the studio - they are aiming to create a strong social atmosphere also (hence 'tribe'). it is evident that the owners are passionate and invested.

Great location and neighborly vibes. It’s kind of a gym version of a speakeasy (tricky to find, need a code to get in, basement of a building). But once you get there, you’re “in”. It’s one studio with a small lobby area to stash your stuff. A hallway leads to bathrooms, showers, and lockers. Great instructor and a cool atmosphere. Would recommend.
