If I could give zero stars, I would. To be clear, this review is only about the dance programs, not the gym — I can’t speak to that side of the business.
The studio’s dance environment is full of favoritism. The “employee-only” area is treated like a private hangout for the manager’s close friends and family (it’s a big family), which creates a cliquish and unwelcoming vibe for anyone outside that circle. Favoritism is hard to miss, especially when staff family members are consistently front and center at recital performances and competitions, giving other long paying performers no chance to be highlighted. Many parents quietly question the ethics and fairness of how things are run, but hesitate to speak up out of fear it could affect their child’s experience or opportunities. That culture of silence only makes the environment more toxic.
The competition team is a complete rip-off. Families are charged top-tier prices for competitions, uniforms, and fees — yet the quality is disappointingly low. Uniforms, props, and any accessories are charged at a massive premium but are seemingly homemade (generic clothing with logos made on a machine in someone’s home), or very cheap. They require a massive amount of money up front, but any time parents ask questions about costs or request a breakdown, they become defensive instead of transparent. If they were upfront about what the fees actually covered, it might be easier to understand — but the lack of honesty makes the pricing feel extremely inflated and misleading. Borderline unfair business practices. To make matters worse, the studio pits its own teams against each other — older dancers competing directly against the younger team — leaving the younger dancers with no real chance. Last year it was the little team vs older team in every single competition. It’s a lot of money spent to set your children up for massive failure and disappointment when they don’t stand a chance. It’s disorganized, discouraging, and far from a supportive team environment.
Class time is also poorly structured. Most classes consist of about 30 minutes of warming up and conditioning, and only around 25 minutes of actual dance instruction — which is hard to justify when families are paying so much for "elite" training. Since leaving, my child has started at a new, reputable studio — and while it's been a positive change, she’s had to start from the bottom and work to undo poor training habits that were never corrected before. It's frustrating to realize how much we were paying, literal thousands of dollars, for subpar instruction.
Meanwhile, other local studios offer top-tier coaching, real team unity, proper technique, and high-quality personalized uniforms from big name companies— all for less money. Here, you’re paying the most and getting the least, and gaining disappointment and the need for retraining. If you’re looking for fair treatment, transparency, real training, and actual value, this is not the place.
I hope the owners see this review and can take the time to get involved more in the dance studio, do some research and comparison, and see how they can restructure this program to be better quality for the parents and students to come.

We have been coming here for almost 3 years so obviously we love tricks! It has always been a well-run facility that’s lots of fun for the kiddos:) my only issue that does bug me is that the kids teachers change very frequently. In the last 9 months that my daughter has been in the 3 year old class, she has had now 3 teacher changes. Just got notified today of another change which is making me write this. Luckily my daughter is really adaptable so she is pretty happy with any teacher, but I know most kids could really benefit from more consistency with teachers. 3 different teachers in 9 months is a lot of change in my opinion. I just hope when she changes to an older class in a few months that whoever she gets will stick for longer than a few months at a time. Honestly though, I know most gymnastics places have high teacher turnover/schedule changes because I used to work for a different gymnastics facility and the same thing happened there. So I’m not too upset about it, just a little frustrating especially since we are paying a lot each month for these classes. Overall, great place for kids gymnastics/dance but be prepared that teachers might shift around often, but they could anywhere you go I guess

Where do I even start! We’ve been a part of Tricks GB for years. The now owner, Tosha, was my son’s Tag coach before she took over ownership. My son is very high needs and required a ton of redirection when he first started. I would get anxious even walking in. Tosha was one of the first teachers in his little life that saw his potential and worked with him (and me) to make it work for him instead of just writing him off as the troublemaker. I can’t explain the relief I had knowing he was in the best hands and the best place. He is still doing TAG years later and thriving.
Now for the dance side! My daughter has also been dancing with Tricks for 5 years. This last year, she joined the first comp team. What an incredible blessing this team has been to my daughter!! Miss Anna is like none other. We tried other studios when she was younger, and my daughter hated it. Miss Anna puts so much emphasis on making sure the girls are confident and comfortable in their own skin above anything else. My daughter has grown incredibly in confidence AND skill since being under Miss Anna’s leadership. When my daughter tried out for comp, she was terrified because she couldn’t do cartwheels. Instead of turning her away, they worked with her. Miss Anna’s brother (Mr Josh who runs TAG), took time out of his schedule to help my daughter learn cartwheels…and now she has them perfected.
If you’re looking for a place for your kid to grow in ability, also while having their confidence built, this is the place! It’s a total family vibe, no matter what your skill level is. They love on the kids hard and their passion shines through everything they do.

I'm over this place. It's gone way downhill since the new ownership. They play extremely inappropriate music, like they don't know there's little kids here... None of their TAG (ninja) teachers have no control over their classes, and after 1 year my son has learned absolutely nothing because the teachers don't correct anything or encourage them to try anything challenging. I watch the grade school teachers correct nothing, and never encourage proper technique or form. Such a waste of time and money, I wish we had left sooner.

We love Tricks! We have been coming here since 2019. We started with baby gym and it has been a joy and an amazing experience! All the staff is so kind and sweet with the kids and super encouraging the kids absolutely love it! My daughter is also in their ballet/tap class and she adores it! It is just a really great and wholesome environment for the kids! 100% recommend it!

The office staff ladies who were in charge of the comp team called the girls " an ad for fat camp". The whole place is drama and unprofessional. This was a few years ago but still wouldnt put my kids in a place where they make fun of the larger kids in "private".

We’re so lucky my daughter has been with tricks for a couple years. They have the best instructors, program, and really good role models. She is more confident and brave to try everything. Highly recommend!

They should put some orange tape on the floor where there is a step. Kids, adults doing face plants and breaking their ankles. " Don't feel be embarrassed it happens all the time" no you guys the owner should feel bad or embarrassed and put some orange tape... So y'all don't get sued... ...the teachers are really nice and it's a lot of fun for the kids to build their skills. I would recommend it. Sure.

The staff are really friendly, several areas for my toddler to play safely, but ultimately my kid loves it! He goes once a week but if it were up to him he would go every day. A good intro to following directions from the teacher and retaining focus on the playful activity.

Tricks Gymnastics is hands down the most value for your time. This Gymnastics Gym puts the time and effort into your children unlike any other establishment. I grew up going here and would recommend them to anyone looking for a place to teach their children gymnastics. The owner Barber Joe is the absolute sweetest person on this planet and anyone taught here will know what I am talking about. 12 out of 10, this place is amazing.

I went to Tricks gymnastics and competed for two years I really loved this gym at every competition we won 1st place. Everyone was really kind but sometime other groups would run in our way before we tumbled or did vault and almost get hurt. Team also had special events whenever we were doing really good there would be pool parties, roller skating, spa night, etc. I stopped going to this gym because of COVID but also because on team the highest level was 4. At this gym there are classes for all ages. Overall this was a great gym and I really recommend.

We love Tricks in Granite Bay! The staff is wonderful and the teachers Devon and Ellie have both been great with my daughter. We have been attending the kinder classes for almost 2 years now and plan to continue for many more. My daughter looks forward to going each week and has a blast. It has built her confidence, agility/coordination, and is helping to develop her listening skills as she learns to follow directions. The facility is clean and well kept. I can’t recommend this gym more!

We have only wonderful things to say about Tricks! My only complaint would be that it’s small but SO clean!!
My daughter started with Mr. Andrew and progressed so quickly! He’s great at making sure the girls are doing proper technique and encourages them to work hard and try their best. She then was asked to try out for the Artistic team and made it! This is now her 3rd competitive season with Tricks and will be competing as a level 4. The team coaches Trayce and Renee really strive for teaching in a firm but kind way and promote team building. They’ve helped my daughter work through her frustrations as she is so hard on herself and wants to do everything perfectly.
We also love the TAG program! My son is at the highest level now, a beast! A great program for boys to get active while learning some cool tricks.

I have had 4 children over the years participate in gymnastics and dance in Granite Bay. Great programs and great staff! They focus on how children's minds and bodies develop. I have also had 3 daughters work for this company and they have grown greatly from their opportunity to teach children in the community. Can't rant and rave more for Tricks in Granite Bay!!

The staff in Granite Bay is amazing! I’ve been taking my girls there almost two decades now for general health and well-being as well as competitive gymnastics. The coaches are always great and the office staff has always addressed our needs professionally. I highly recommend any of their facilities, but the Granite Bay gym is the best in NorCal.

We've attended classes at tricks for several years at the granite Bay location. All of the coaches we have had have been amazing people that have treated my kids with kindness and respect and helped them gain confidence all while having fun, getting good exercise and learning gymnastics skills. The owners are amazing people that truly have the best interests of kids at heart. The entire program is a labor of love and it's obvious the minute you walk in the door. Id also like to comment on some of the negative comments about mr. Andrews . He is hand down our favorite coach over there. Three of my girls have been in classes with him and for awhile refused to take classes from anyone else. I sit in on every class and watch the whole time. He has never even come close to touching the girls innapproriately. He spots them safely and in accordance with proper gymnastic technique. He is very in tune with the kids and is encouraging without pushing too hard. He is very knowledgeable and has been the major player in my youngest daughther's confidence and her learning the kills she needed to make the artistic gymnastics team this year. I highly recommend him.

Great place! Love Mr. Andrew and so does my granddaughter. He was her teacher when she was a toddler and after a few years hiatus, we’re thrilled she’s in his class again at age 8.

Ms. Joann is great for younger kids, ages 2-9. Her choreography starts to slack with the older girls or more advanced classes. Ms. Rebecca is better for older and more advanced girls ages 10-18. Her choreography is advanced and hard, but AMAZING. My kids have been going to Tricks for quite a while and love it there. It's now the summer recital and my daughter is in Miss Rebecca's class and loves it. My son does gymnastics there and has gotten quite advanced. I also have a newborn, who I will also be enrolling in Tricks. Overall wonderful facility, teachers are very nice. Their dance program is amazing, I think in part because the teachers are more mature and focused. In gymnastics, my daughter ended up quitting because of the lack of attention she was getting because her teachers kept talking to each other and not to their own students. However, my son loves TAG, so it is a great fit for him. Overall, great place, I have recommended to many people!

We decided to stop going after a few months of us barley coming to classes. They unilaterally decided it was still ok to charge us after cancelation. We declined (we have no interest in going) now they sent us to collections. For what seems like a genuinely nice place we found out isn't. I would suggest looking at the many other options locally.
For people currently enrolled watch bank statements
For a place that offers classes they don't have much class
