The general manager here (Shirley) is a problem, and causes more problems than solutions. I have been a member here (off and on), since 2012. On fully since 2019. Management (and the pool lanes) are a consistent problem.

Update 2025: I’ve graduated into intense HIIT classes. Nobody frowns when you can’t keep up 100% so I do what I can, which is enough. The pandemic is history. This is the place to restart the best of your life.

I've belonged to Trifit since before the sublime rebuild with state-of-the-art equipment. Staff members are nice & flawless; instructors are experts in boxing, functional training, HIIT, KINSTRETCH, spinning, swimming, yoga, et al; trainers are holistic-minded in incorporating nutrition to complement prescribed workouts, and Trifit members root for each other. I miss the ELDOA classes, but the music will delight nostalgia buffs. The men's locker room never stinks because the staff keeps it as clean as the towels and most members are non-porcine. Drinking water is filtered. The pandemic taught us the importance of a strong body to withstand the next outbreak or, as in my case, a surprise cancer. Trifit is 1st choice for folks who value their lives and civility. And minorities are welcomed.

Been coming to Trifit since the early days of the Pandemic and it’s been the best health club I’ve ever been to. From Big box gyms, to CrossFit gyms, and other fitness institutions, nothing compares to this place. Everyone that comes here is dedicated to their journey, very few egos, and the team is probably some of the best in the business. With all that said, the driver for me is all the recovery components Trifit offers. Sauna, steam room, massage chairs… I never took recovery as seriously until I came here, and it’s been a game changer.

Trifit Santa Monica – My Wellness Home Away from Home

I've been a member at Trifit in Santa Monica for some time now, and I can honestly say it's been a lifesaver. This gym is more than just a place to work out—it's a community. The atmosphere is welcoming, the members are friendly, and there's a genuine sense of connection that you don't find at many other fitness centers.

What truly sets Trifit apart, though, are the owners. They are top-notch humans who genuinely care and are present at the gym, checking in and making sure everything runs smoothly. That level of involvement creates a warm, personal touch you can feel the moment you walk in.

The facility itself is immaculate. Cleanliness is clearly a top priority, and the staff is equally outstanding—attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to help.

I'm especially a fan of the functional training and HIIT classes. Aaron and Ben are fantastic—fun, professional, and really know their stuff. They make classes motivating and fun. I’ve seen major improvements in both my physical and mental health since joining.

Trifit is more than a gym—it’s a sanctuary for anyone looking for variety, feel supported, and be part of something real. Highly recommend.

I genuinely can't say enough good things about TriFit and its community!! I was lucky enough to call TriFit my home gym for the last 4 years.

Every single staff member is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and approachable. At the end of 2021, I was looking for a gym post pandemic and I was pretty nervous to join a gym since I hadn't worked out in awhile and had found gyms intimidating in the past. When I visited TriFit, I immediately felt at home. Both the staff and other members were immediately warm and welcoming.

I initially started attending Jimmy's HIIT class, which made working out so much more approachable and fun. If you're someone like I was, that doesn't entirely know where to begin in a weight-room or you're looking to workout with others, then all of TriFit's classes are a perfect fit! If you attend be prepared for an absolute banger of a playlist and Jimmy's fun spirit!

I eventually found the courage to attend one of Bernard's spin classes and immediately became hooked. If you're looking for a solid cardio workout and to sweat a ton while also having a blast this class is for you. It's basically road cycling meets warehouse rave.

Speaking of cycling, TriFit gave me the courage and tools to go from being basically sedentary to picking up triathlon. If you're looking to get into triathlon, then Moses is your person! I did a bike fit with Moses and he was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely helpful, and best of all my back pain while riding went away! If you're looking to improve your swim, Moses's Swim Technique class is a must! And his other classes are a great opportunity to build swim fitness. It's so much more pleasant and effective to swim with others - even if admittedly, I was initially skeptical of this! So do yourself a favor and take yourself to Moses's classes (I wish I had done this sooner). Moses revolutionized my swim. The best part is, you don't need to be training for anything to enjoy a swim workout with others. And if you're looking for a triathlon coach, Moses is an excellent choice. He took me from doing my first Half Ironman to qualifying for Half Ironman Worlds. Moses knows his stuff!

Also, once I began using the weight-room on my own, I always felt comfortable (which was really important to me and somewhat rare as a woman in a gym). Everyone is so polite, respectful, and friendly.

And how can I forget the Ocean Swim?! I've written enough, but just ask any member or staff member about it. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

I've since moved to Girona, Spain, for those of you that don't know, it's like triathlon mecca, and I can genuinely say, that even here in Girona, there is absolutely nothing like TriFit!! It is a truly special community and place.

I have been coming to Trifit for a couple of years now and am a loyal member and BIG fan...I think you would be hard-pressed to find a gym that equals it in LA. The facilities are clean, well-equipped, and well-maintained, and they offer great amenities. Most importantly, the community feel is unparalleled--the staff are so kind and supportive, the gym crowd there is very respectful, and management's efforts and initiatives make it clear that they value building community amongst the member base. I kind of fell off going to the gym around 2020, and had initially had a hard time getting back into it consistently, but Trifit makes me look forward to getting my workouts in. Highly recommend!

I have been coming here since 2019 and come in at least 5 days a week. First off, the staff here are all incredible and always have a smile on their face. Shoutout Heather, Gary, Juan and Kota for setting the friendly and welcoming feel of the gym.

The trainers of course are second to none and set the standard for all other gyms to chase. (Aaron you a real 1!)

If you’re looking for a great gym with a good atmosphere, never over crowded and always clean, you can’t go wrong with Tri fit.

Lastly, Good luck finding a gym that matches their amenities. Between a sauna, steam room, cold plunge, swimming pool, squash courts and massage chairs, I’m still wondering why your still reading this and not calling to sign up!

TriFit is my neighborhood gym, my home gym for years, as such I'm a bit protective of it and the superhero staff they've built. Idk if it's really a secret, as much as anything in LA can be, but you truly feel like you're part of a special tight knit community that empowers and supports one another regardless of what your goals are.The gym is boutique, high-end, approachable, yet with all the equipment and classes you could ever need. Towel service, steam room, personal training, PT, massage, cryo, you name it, they've got it. Once you are a member parking is easy, and free in the underground parking garage, which has also been an advantage on numerous occasions when visiting the water garden or Colorado center for other purposes. Also, you can reserve the tennis courts through the gym! If you are a tennis player that is contending with the rise of pickleball and court access, that alone is enough to be worth the membership, as it's easy and readily available. So if you are one of those lucky few that stumbled upon my review and the best gym on the Westside, come give it a trial, you won't be disappointed. Go go go!

Good assortment of machines and apparatuses

Nice yoga room

Very mixed feelings about TriFit. It is very expensive for what it is and the rates have increased 3 times this year. Currently it is $180 per month.

Some of the staff are very nice, but others not as much. There is an incredible strictness with rules, and much of the time it feels like the members are serving the staff and not the other way around. Any request no matter how small outside of company policy is immediately rejected.

They used to offer first time guests a free guest pass for the day but removed this policy (without telling the members). Guest passes are $40 per day. At LA fitness you can bring a guest for free any time. When you pay nearly $200 a month it is frustrating not to be able to bring a significant other or friend to workout with you once in a while. As this is not a “corporate owned” gym, I really hoped for more understanding and cooperative spirit from the employees/policies, but am disappointed.

The gym facility is nice and clean, but small. It has almost everything you would need for a typical workout.

The pool is okay, it is quite small and leaks into the squash courts below it on occasion causing closures and damage to the courts.

The squash courts are in disrepair and while I understand there are supply issues that affect timelines for repair it does not feel like the club is trying very hard to expedite the process and improve the courts for the members. Court 1 has been out of service for a long time (years), court 3 has severe water damage and warped flooring, court 2 is working. While Court 1 (out of service) is a normal squash court, courts 2 and 3 are actually converted racquetball courts that are more narrow than a regulation size squash court.

The Club's website falsely states that they have a "Squash pro, a former U.S. Junior National Champion" - there is no squash pro at the club.

Despite these issues the squash community is active and full of extremely nice people who all know one another. If you are a new or intermediate player this is a great place to play with plenty of good competition.

I am open to modifying this review if
1) policies change to be more friendly and welcoming to members and potential newcomers
2) The courts are fixed up into working conditions
3) the website is updated to accurately reflect that there is no squash pro on staff at the club (or a squash pro is hired)

I am a squash player and have been a member of Trifit for many, many years. There are three courts although one is under repair because of rain damage. The owners have made a tremendous effort to keep the courts open despite many construction defects (builders and owners of building complex) that have caused water issues on the courts. There is an active squash community; many good players; and round-robin events. We need to support the owners who are working so hard to support squash in WLA!!

Updated Review: Wednesday, February 7.

Played Squash this morning on Court 3. There is absolutely no water damage on this court! Please also know that TriFit survived Covid while so many other businesses failed. While I do not know the actual numbers, many businesses in the complex closed and/or their employees worked from home resulting in a huge membership loss. Again, we are lucky to have our 2 courts with #1 still in the mix for repairs after water leak fixed.

I have been a member for maybe 20 years. Everyone needs to know Gina and Bernard have been doing everything they can to keep the Squash Courts open. They and us Squash Players are the victims of rain damage, leaking pools, maybe poor construction and equipment failures. I personally know how much effort they have put in (financial, consulting experts, filing and fighting insurance claims, remedial maintenance, hours of grief and more) to keep us playing. I watched the tremendous amount of work that went into the water proofing efforts to keep the courts dry. We all thought we were out of the woods. I encourage every Squash Player to be a positive force in support of TriFit during this time.

Over the 15 years I've lived in L.A., I've joined several gyms, but Trifit stands out as the best by a wide margin. It's spacious and equipped with every type of workout gear you could imagine. The gym is owner-operated, ensuring everything is maintained to the highest standards. Among its facilities are an indoor pool with three swim classes each week, and a variety of other classes including yoga, HIIT, and TRX. The staff, including Dakotah who gave me a tour before I signed up, are always friendly and eager to help.

Trifit is open seven days a week, offering extensive operating hours to fit any schedule.

What really impressed me was their community engagement; they organize Open Water Swims during the spring and summer. I've never seen a gym offer something like this. It's a testament to their commitment to not just fitness, but also community building and outdoor activities.

Lastly, I've noticed some reviews criticizing the lack of a complimentary day pass. I personally paid $39 for my trial day, which was then subtracted from my initial membership fee. I understand that this policy was implemented because some were misusing the free trial passes, and I fully support their approach to manage this issue.

Trifit is the best gym in Santa Monica, hands down. Everything is always super clean and it isn’t crazy packed such that I never have to wait for a machine. There are tons of amenities such as the pool and towel service. I’ve tried a a bunch of different gyms in Santa Monica like Equinox and Bay Club and Trifit is better than all of them. For example, the steam room is way more spacious than Equinox and Bay Club doesn’t have a steam room. Finally, the staff here is excellent. Shout out to Heather who is always friendly and helpful for all the small little things that may come up.

The staff are all amazing and so welcoming, they all know my name and always ask how I am. I love chatting with them and they have really helped me feel a part of the Trifit community. I've even gotten some pointers on my form for some exercises from them which has been very helpful!

The equipment is also great, and I almost never have to wait for anything. They just added some new equipment (hack squat woohoo!!) which has been fun (and painful :0 ). As a former swimmer, I love that there is a pool I can use too!

The amenities offered are also really nice. I shower there before going to work and there is always great smelling shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The locker rooms are spacious and kept very clean.

Overall I would definitely recommend coming to Trifit. The staff, equipment, amenities, and community are all amazing and I love coming here to work out!

A $39 day pass for a gym that basically fits into a shoe box. At a loss of words for how they can justify charging both that much for such a small space and why there is not a free day trial like most other locations have

I didn't like the way one of your employees spoke to me, I was on the treadmill talking to my friend from Brazil and he caught my attention in front of the other students, and the first time I work out here, without a doubt I won't become a membership, I understand that because he works with people, the right thing would be for him to call me after I finished the training and say that I couldn't use the phone on the treadmill, he spoke loudly and in front of me and my friends .

I'm going to leave this review in Google reviews too to make sure everyone will see.

I would not recommend going to Moses Wolfe-Polgar at @trifitla for a bike fit. After an initial fit which caused me pain in my arms, Moses charged me for what was meant to be a free follow-up. Moses had to re-install my aero riser which he had offered to do as part of my follow-up. During the follow up he made no indication of his intention to charge me and I was shocked when he asked me to pay for the follow up and/or the riser installation- both of which were supposed to be free. What’s worse, he reversed my shifters and pinched the wire.

If you prefer the vibe of a boutique gym, TriFit is an excellent choice.

It's not big, loud, or crowded. Instead, I find it a peaceful, approachable place for all. Without the unnecessary distractions or intimidation factors of other gyms, I can get into a zone easily here and focus on my workout.

The staff is always friendly and helpful but never chatty. That's a plus for me. It's also a locally owned small business.

Lastly, and this is a big one — it's extremely clean!

I absolutely love TriFit. I moved to LA looking for a gym with a wide range of amenities, classes, and a pool, and TriFit checked all of these boxes and beyond. Better than Equinox for less than half the price, and with a far stronger community.

The community is what really makes TriFit special. Everyone iss incredibly kind, especially the staff and owners. The coaches & instructors are top-notch, and many of the classes great not only for athletic performance, but also just functionally for everyday wellbeing.

Whether you're a world-class triathlete or new to fitness and just looking to find a community of like-minded individuals focused on health & wellbeing, TriFit is where it's at. Best gym on the west side of LA (probably even all of LA), hands down.

This is by far the best gym on the west side of LA, and my favorite gym I’ve ever joined… using the Workout Facilities, Sauna, Steam Room, Yoga Classes, Boxing Classes, Pool, and more. It’s top class. High quality people from the owners, staff, and members. Not sure why people are leaving negative reviews… I’ve only had positive experiences here and will be a member for as long as I live on the west side / Santa Monica!

AVOID this establishment at all costs. They seem like a great gym with great facilities but it is in essence a scheme to charge your credit card by not technically letting you cancel your account. I canceled my account in November of 2022. I went in the building in Santa Monica and spoke with one the staff members. They informed me that the actual "club" could not cancel my membership and that they have a third party "payment system" that I would have to call. I called to cancel and thought everything was fine. I then looked at my bank statements only to realize I have been charged for every month past November. As such, I contacted their customer support staff on numerous occasions. Even after Long hold times, it's nearly impossible to find an individual who speaks English well unless you are able to transfer to a supervisor and even then you may run into issues. I was told they had no "record of my cancelation", despite me showing phone records on the contrary and video evidence that I was told the club "didn't have access too" by one of the service members. Next, they say they will get back to you so they can speak to the club (AKA the actual place where I was in person to try to cancel) and make you think it has been resolved only to pretend you never called when you touch base again days later. I am brining the case to Bureau of Consumer Protection as I have talked to other members who have apparently had similar issues. I had to cancel my membership due to medical reasons that forced me to move out of state. I have never written a yelp review, but can't in good conscience let anyone else make this mistake and under advisement was told to document my experience. I hope this review helps.

I LOVE TriFit. It’s become a second family since I joined in 2018. The owners live and breathe the gym and it shows. They’ve always had amazing coaches and staff along with a ton of great classes to choose from.
The gym area still feels like it just opened: it looks great and modern with plenty of equipment to choose from. Nice clean changing rooms (cleaning staff is so nice!), steam, sauna, indoor swimming pool, squash courts… The whole nine yards. They cater to everybody, from performance-oriented serious athletes to people who have never been in a gym before. Everybody feels welcome and all the staff, coaches and members are very supportive and helpful. I could keep going, but I don’t want to be late to my class at TriFit.. and that makes 3 today!

I’ve been a member at Trifit for about 6 years now, and it’s been an amazing place for me. I joined in part because I wanted to start swimming. I needed access to a pool, but I also wanted to take lessons because I really couldn’t swim. My coach at Trifit was patient, awesome, and across these 6 years I went from not being able to swim 50 yards, to being able to swim over a mile in the ocean! (Trifit runs Friday Ocean swims in the spring, summer).

The other reason I joined was I wanted to start taking yoga classes in the hope of reducing running injuries. In the process of sampling my new gym’s classes, I landed upon Destress Yoga, Friday at 1. I figured, I can’t really make this time weekly, I have to work! 6 years later, I’ve gone virtually every week since, it’s a lovely part of my week.

There are a ton of other classes at the gym that have similar followings, it’s a smaller scale situation than Bay Club or Equinox. Gina and Bernard are the owners, they’re athletes themselves, they live and breathe the gym.

What I’ve found at Trifit is a community of impressive, supportive people, who will help you become the best athletic version of yourself. This community gives you all the support you need to do whatever you want, I feel very fortunate to be a part of it.

I have been a member of TriFit for over 10 years. This is a terrific gym. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The equipment is up to date. As of December 2022, all brand new spinning bikes.
The pool is the best part of all. I swim 5 to 6 days a week. Pool water is about 79 ° and sparkling clean.

I have tried every gym in West LA for over a decade now. The only pro I see that made this club worth $160 is the sacristy of the club. Since they have a $0 marketing budget and hidden away, only people who work in the area sign up. I would much rather spend the extra $40 at Bayclub across the street, or pay less for Gold’s in Venice ($100), Icon fit ($130) or even Iron Fitness ($150)
If you really have the cash to burn I recommend Marina Del Rey Equinox, Westwood, but not Santa Monica.

Pros:
Not really busy, even during prime time at 6
Lighting is good for pictures
Some friendly staff
Fruit water
Steamroom

Cons:
The equipment is mediocre at best, only 2 properly working cable machines
No guest passes (Equinox gives you 2, better than nothing)
“Don’t drop weights” signs every where, super obnoxious
Steam room doesn’t not reach high enough temperatures
Lighting is obnoxious, spaced weirdly and awful LED lights at the squat racks

The staff is really warm, welcoming, and super helpful. I am brand new to weight lifting, and every time I have a question about where to get a tool or how to use some equipment they are really nice and had good knowledge. They gave me a tour of the facilities and even bought a piece of equipment I requested. It's really unintimidating, and is never too full to the point of waiting too long to use anything. If you're looking for a chill local gym that has all the basics, this is a great option.

Management does not care for customer satisfaction.
Staff is super friendly but management is irresponsive, slow to move and not customer focused. The pool and squash courts needed repairs and the time it took to address those was unreasonable and there is lack of communication on updates or progress. In similar situations, my past gyms have been much better at resolving issues and delivering member value.

Check this place out! In the post-COVID environment you couldn’t ask for a cleaner place.

TriFit is an awesome facility with a full gym containing everything you could dream of having, no matter what style of workouts you’re into, including a pool, tennis, and squash courts. The classes are all run by very professional and awesome instructors. There are several different styles of yoga, TRX, full-body circuit, spin, and sport performance classes. Not only are there many great mobility and recovery oriented things you can use within the gym, but there is also a great physical therapy center subsidy inside.

Under non-COVID circumstances there is also a great steam room, sauna, amenity and towel service. As well as coached track workouts at the local college track, masters style swim classes inside the facility, and even a ride leader for Saturday AM bike rides that explore the best routes in the area.

I walked in considering asking about a membership, but just finished sitting in traffic awhile and needed to use the bathroom. I politely smiled at the front desk workers and asked to use their restroom. One of the employees rolled his eyes at me and asked if I was a member, to which I replied that I wasn't. Before I could even before to explain that I was interested in becoming a member, the employee scoffed and said "Well this is a private gym, so you can't just walk in here and use the bathroom."

Though I was truly inspired by the confidence and swiftness of the rudeness spat into my face, I'm relieved that I did not give this establishment any of my business. I've been treated more warmly and with more respect in dingy gas stations that deny use of their restrooms.

I really like this gym, and I'm lucky I get a corporate discount to attend it. However, I do not think the normal fees equal up to the amount of services you get, especially when you have to pay for some of the classes. Another downer is that it is not 24/7. With the amount of money you pay for this gym they really should have the Main Gym (not the pool) open 24/7. Many times I want to work out on the weekends and I can not because they are closed.

Now to the great things about TriFit:
Clean - This gym is one of the cleanest gyms I have ever been to.
Friendly Staff- The front desk staff are always friendly here.
Class options/times- The class options here are great, and some of them are multiple times a week so you can make it into your calendar.
Parking - I received a 3hr parking permit, and the parking at the colorado center is a little rough, but we get free valet, and that supersedes everything with the parking hastle.

If you have the funds, I definitely suggest you try out TriFit.
