Review of UFC Fit

I’ve been going to this UFC Fit for 2.5 years, and unfortunately, the experience has been getting worse. The gym is never properly maintained: the trash cans are always full, the medicine balls and equipment are not put back in place, and there are often no wipes available.

The shower area has a serious mold issue, and nothing seems to be done about it. On weekends, the sauna is turned off more than an hour earlier than scheduled, and the staff just says it’s because “someone puts something in the water,” instead of actually fixing the problem.

They also replaced the large screen TV with a much smaller one, and it honestly looks cheap and out of place compared to what was there before.

For the price of the membership, this level of cleanliness and service is unacceptable. I hope management finally addresses these issues, because right now the gym feels neglected and poorly managed.

This gym has been life changing for me. The weight selection and equipment are top tier but the gamechanger is definitely Terry in the recovery center! She taught me how to use Cryotherapy and Normatec equipment to help me recover much faster than I could before, which helps me go harder during each of my lifts. Recently I had a nagging, sore, lower back pain that was lingering for a few weeks. It was so bad that I was struggling to walk properly. After just one session with Terry all my pain was gone! She showed me some stretches I could do on my own, but the assisted stretching and cupping therapy was something I had never experienced and will definitely be rebooking. I am so thankful for Terry and the UFC staff.

Terry is an incredible therapist! Her knowledge of anatomy is outstanding. She starts by testing your movement, then works deeply into your muscles using a mix of stretching, cupping, and other effective techniques. Every session feels personalized and thorough. I always leave feeling so much better — she’s truly gifted, and such a kind, genuine person. I feel lucky to have found her and highly recommend her!

I love UFC!!! I get all I need under one roof. Today I needed help from Terry (recovery expert). I was having pain in my left knee (arthritis) and her therapies are a tremendous help. I workout quite a bit and it is a priority for me to use the recovery room and all it has to offer to allow my body to recover from my tasking workouts and heal when I have any issues. Updated Review – Very Disappointed

I previously updated my review to reflect the improvements under new management, and I even acknowledged how Gagan and Terri went out of their way to help me. At that time, I felt hopeful that UFC Fit was turning things around.

Unfortunately, I have now discovered that I’ve been charged for two months AFTER I had already requested my membership be canceled. This is extremely frustrating and unacceptable. While I was initially appreciative of the new management’s efforts to rebuild trust, this ongoing billing issue completely undermines that progress.

It should not take repeated follow-ups and constant oversight just to ensure I am not being billed for a service I clearly canceled. This experience shows me that, despite some positive efforts from individual staff, the gym still lacks reliable processes and accountability.

I cannot recommend UFC Fit to anyone who values transparency and professionalism in billing and customer care.

I recently signed up for the gym's VIP package. I enjoy the convenience of the location near 87 on ramp and exits. The large parking lot, vast equipment options and unlimited class packages are so worth the reasonable price point. What really makes this gym special, the employees, trainers and coaches. It is rare to find all around authentic, friendly knowledgeable employees + coaches/trainers! Yet, here they are! :) I have recently taken up weight training with olympic barbell and other machines.

Personal Fitness Trainer and Athlete (A.J. Wright) has been incredibly helpful to ensure I am using proper form, timing and progressive overload in hopes to achieve my goals. If you are seeking guidance regarding diet, recovery and fitness plans - reach out to A.J. Wright.

Checkout the HIIT Classes; KickBoxing; Boxing Conditioning. You will love the classes and coches. People are actually friendly! Imagine that. A warm and encouraging group of gym members.

The recovery zone is great! I enjoy the cryotherapy and recovery boots! Water massager bed is very relaxing as well.

I have yet to use the showers, the area to get ready has two tiny blow dryers in a high traffic area. You will not feel much privacy if you shower or change there. Up to you. Also a great children's care center and children's fitness groups.

🚫🚷Discrimination at its best. I have a disabled son who was in the kids hitt class under julian's supervision.A horrible person who lied about my son hitting kids. After reviewing videos with Terry, there was no proof of anything Julian claimed. To lie about a special needs child is a different type of evil 🤬. There was no apology issued to my son from Julian or any of the management team at UFC gym. They just swept it under the rug.

I had a fantastic experience being shown around the gym by A.J., one of the staff members. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable. A.J. took his time walking me through the amenities, explaining how everything worked, and highlighting the gym’s many features.

The variety of equipment is impressive, and what really sealed the deal for me was trying out their state-of-the-art recovery machines. It’s rare to find a facility that combines such a wide range of top-quality gear with staff who genuinely care about your experience.

I found the staff to be very friendly, and the facilities in great shape. The reason for my one star review is due to the fact that I was promised that if I moved the remainder of my annual subscription would be refunded given that I prove my change in address. I have supplied my new driver's license, a copy of my lease, and a copy of my utility bill, and am now being ignored. When I was travelling back to the area for work I stopped by to bring up the issue and I was assured it was being worked on. My emails are now being ignored and I am out over $900.

Update: The owner of the gym personally reached out to me via a phone call. I appreciated this gesture. I still have some frustration in having the goal post moved in terms of what counts as proof of address change, but I am hoping we can come to an agreement. I will be providing me new vehicle registration as soon as it arrives. I have changed my review to three starts for now.

Update: I have been ghosted after providing my new information over three weeks ago. I have emailed multiple times with no response. Changing the review back to one star. This has been the most frustrating transaction of my life. I would have rather the team here tell me there is no refund then waste this much of my time.

This gym has been great to me! Signed up before it opened and it’s been the best gym I’ve worked out at. Staff from top to bottom is great and attentive, they consistently clean their locker rooms and provide a great customer service. I get treated like family when I come here and it makes you feel welcomed and appreciated when you check in. As far as the workout goes the machines are always good to go and if it goes down their mechanic gets on it asap. Weight room has a variety of benches, turf area, squat platforms, and basically anything you could think of that you would need in the gym. Members themselves treat it like home and clean up after themselves in wiping down their equipment and people are actually here to workout. My favorite part by far has to be the recovery room! Cryotherapy, red light therapy, massage beds and compression therapy. Terry is the main highlight of the gym and she provides the best service and will help you with any questions you have.

I been a member here at the UFC for the past two in a half years and I am pleased with Yusif the AGM. His professionalism and hospitality has been great and genuine throughout my time here as a member. I would 100% recommend UFC at Westfield! I signed up with AJ he made the process easy and explained everything to me thoroughly! I’m currently training with Coach Nate who is amazing very caring, knowledgeable, and passionate. The place is always super clean staff is very kind. I've been going to this gym for about a year now. First 10 months were great! The past couple months, however, there has been a significant issue with cleanliness and access to cleaning supplies. There used to be cleaning wipes stationed throughout the gym, accessible near most areas you would work out.

This has been replaced with two stations on opposite corners of the gym with paper towels + spray bottles. This has made cleaning equipment much less convenient, and it is happening way less by patrons due to the lack of accessibility.

Additionally, starting this month the gym has decided to abruptly raise their prices by a significant amount. My gym membership is going up by roughly 40%, citing an increase in costs of utilities, supplies, equipment, and staffing as the reason. This also means the base cost of the gym membership is $119 a month. None of the amenities at this gym justify that high of a monthly rate, especially when you compare it to it's competitors. Forma gym across the street is in the same price range but with a wider level of amenities. Focus fitness which is just down the street is $50 a month and offers a similar experience to what UFC currently offers.

I'm hoping that this insane price increase means that the gym will use the additional funds to actually supply the gym with cleaning supplies again, and to purchase and implement updated equipment, but I'm not holding my breath.

I’ve been a paying member at UFC Fit for a while, and I’m extremely disappointed with how I’ve been treated. The staff is consistently rude and unhelpful, which is unacceptable—especially considering the amount of money I’ve spent here. I kept going because it was close to home, but the gym is often unsanitary and poorly maintained. Members deserve better. Truly a great experience every time I walk into the gym. The jiu jitsu coaches are amazing with my kids which gives me the freedom to get a workout in while they train with coach Matt.
My youngest is too young for jiu jitsu so their daycare is perfect for her until she’s old enough to train with her brother and sister.
My wife comes later to do cardio so the kids and I walk the mall while she finishes up or my kids will join their little sister in daycare while I hit the recovery room.

While I see some improvements made (fitness challenges, drink/refreshment counter is open, and video content on the screens), I’m still not completely satisfied as a customer.

Women’s restroom:
On several occasions when I’ve visited (though not frequently), I’ve noticed the bathroom stalls are not thoroughly cleaned, and the paper towel dispensers are often empty. The sauna seems ok so far but can’t tell if it’s clean regularly. Personally, the restrooms should be a top priority in every establishment, especially a gym.

Supplies on the Gym Floor:
Lately, I’ve noticed a shortage of cleaning wipes and paper towels to sanitize the gym equipment. Today, in particular, there seemed to be even fewer supplies than usual, despite it not being a busy time. Regular restocking would go a long way in maintaining cleanliness and improving the overall experience.

Classes:
It’s great to see more classes being added to the schedule. However, I wanted to ask if there are any plans to offer a cycle class. The bikes are available, but I haven’t seen a cycling class offered in the past two years. One of the main reasons I initially signed up was for cycling and Pilates classes, and unfortunately, it seems Pilates may not be happening either. Seems like a broken promise here and really disappointed.

I hope these requests can be considered and that we can continue to make meaningful improvements to the gym experience.

My family's journey with the UFC Gym Oakridge began when we enrolled our kids in jiu-jitsu. Now, seeing them train six days a week has been incredible! On 11/18, I bought membership in UFC San Jose Oakridge and also purchased a private coaching package for $ 900, totally I spent $1097.
Unfortunately, my experience with the private coaching sessions has been extremely unsatisfactory.
My initial coach frequently arrived late for sessions, ended classes early, and delayed providing the dietary plan that was part of the package. After expressing my concerns to Mimi and requesting a change of coach, it took her four days to respond.
On 12/4, I was given a new coach, but my experience did not improve. Out of the two sessions we had, he arrived 15 minutes late for one and completely forgot about the third session.
I feel that there are serious management issues within your team and a lack of customer service awareness, the same day, I requested for refund. I also sent a complaint letter to UFC headquarter on the same day. So far, I haven’t received any feedback from them!
I joined your facility with high expectations, but I am deeply disappointed by the lack of professionalism and accountability I have encountered.
I trusted your brand and services, but my experience has left me feeling let down and undervalued as a customer. I believe it is only fair to refund the unused portion of my private coaching package and membership fees as compensation for the poor service I received, you guys keep ghosting me.
I look forward to your prompt response and a resolution to this matter.

So far, I haven't received any official response from UFC. I should have investigated this shady operation team earlier to avoid being scammed.
But the good news is that I have successfully gotten my money back through a bank dispute. If you're dissatisfied with their service, don't waste time requesting a refund from UFC. The most straightforward approach is to dispute the charge with your bank—just make sure to keep all the evidence, and the bank will help you get your money back!

Update!!! 1/7/24

I cancelled my membership, the GM Mimi Nguyen took my money for a fitness challenge that she never updated me on, completely ignored all my messages and texts and I never even got to participate. Then today I get an email saying I owe $840. Excuse me. But now I see why so many people had left negative reviews about this place. They definitely are scamming and refuse to take any accountability when they are called out. Absolutely avoid this place unless you got coin and time to waste because they will not correct their mistakes.

I love this place. I’ve been coming since March. The facility itself is nice and clean and new. The machines are all state of the art, the staff is friendly and it’s never so busy that you have to wait for machines.

My only feedback is that the women’s bathrooms are not cleaned as thoroughly or as frequently as they should. I shower here 3-5 times a week after my workout before work and there’s been many times certain splatters or hair or scrunchies have been left in the same spot which leads me to believe that they haven’t deep cleaned.

Aside from that, they offer meal preps and smoothies which is super helpful when you’re on the run.

UPDATE:
I had to part ways with this gym because I moved out of the area. Upon that I had decided to join a challenge that they were having and paid to do this challenge. The GM Mimi, assured me that there would days and times that would work to fit my schedule for the days of training. Well she never communicated with me , took my money and then when I messaged her multiple times to dispute and figure out a work around she completely ghosted me and didn’t respond to me. I had one more payment of $135 for the last month of my contract and somehow they’re now trying to take $310. Mimi never contacted me back and I am completely disappointed at the professionalism of the staff.
The gym itself is absolutely amazing however the management has a lot of work to do with their professionalism and communication.

I'm a former member at this gym, some of the staff members here are highly unprofessional and clueless about policies, memberships, supplements and lack gym equipment as well as not repairing gym equipment in a timely manner. Most of the advisement and so called deals isn't even accurate to what they verbally promote. All of the managers need to find a different occupation.

After I left this gym they continued to debit my money. It took me over 6 months to get back the over $550.00 they mistakenly debited. I called the person responsible and she hummed and hawed during the call without a single word of apology. Final review update:

5/18 - After fighting for months for all my money back, I never got my last 100 dollars. Every attempt to ask for updates was met with a "I'll look into it" and nothing coming from it. I have fought the good fight, everyone and I am tired.

If UFC is going under that bad to grab your money and hold on tighter then a grandma clutching her pearls at church. Then I guess that shows how badly they must need money. Their policy seems to be "no refunds for any reason, and if you need to give one...don't." I don't know what that says on the financial status of the gym, but it doesn't look good, in my opinion.

I have completely given up my hundred dollars. I am just too tired of begging for it and constantly having to keep on them for my last one hundred dollars. I got my 350 back and at least I got some sort of victory.

My opinion still stands, the gym WILL try everything to take your money and keep it. I don't recommend any sort of extra stuff with this gym.

If you want a gym you can go to work out. Perfect for you. I guess, I haven't had any problems with that.

If you need coaching? I wouldn't recommend it with a ten foot pole. It seems like they will lie about prices and charge you whatever. When they apologize when you catch on, they will ghost you and hold your money like it's their last dime.

So not the best update but not the worst, but it is what it is.

02/20/24 Edit (now one star): I have no issues with the gym itself, but I am dissatisfied with the coaches. They promise to work with you and understand your budget, but end up charging whatever they feel like. I advise you not to let them sign you up just to try it out. I had discussed with my coach how much I could afford to pay, but they charged me almost double the agreed amount. When I tried to address the issue, they ignored me. I suggest that you save yourself the trouble and avoid signing up with them.

03/06/24 (3 stars): After a month of miscommunication and hard time getting through to them. I had a meeting with Mimi, The GM about all the issues. She apologized and offered me a full refund. I haven't received it yet but I will update as soon as I get it so I'm transparent.

A long story short. I was supposed to be charged 350 for 5 sessions of coaching. I got charged almost $450. From 02/15 to 03/05 I was struggling to get any answers or solutions. I felt ghosted and ignored because all my questions were ignored.

After speaking with Mimi, she acknowledged this was unacceptable and held herself accountable for the horrible customer service. I feel we reached a pleasant and unexpected solution. A happy ending, of sorts. As of now, I will continue with the gym. However, If I don't see the refund in my account in two weeks I will cancel. For now. I am raising the stars to a 3 till I see the refund and this concludes.

I will be giving this gym a second chance.

04/16 - I got my 350 back 3/12. I'm still missing the almost $100 dollars. So the saga continues.

Most of the gym patrons use earphones to listen to their own music, podcasts, etc. However, the volume of the music rivals a nightclub and even the best noise canceling headphones are no match.

I have been going to the gym for more than a year now. The equipments in the gym is well kept and its clean. They have couple of other sessions you can attend to and its also cater to parent's needs, kids have a play room while you workout.

The reason for 4 and not 5 stars is due to few coaches annoying you to participate in their personal training session. They interrupt you while you are working out. If there is a need I will approach the coach, you don't have to interrupt me when I have headphones on and walking or running on treadmill or lifting weights.

I just had some interactions with the staff at this location. The staff members I dealt with were very disrespectful. Two of them felt threatening and looked like they wanted to fight me. Allow me to also add that I was wearing my "Iraq War Veteran" cap so they knew I was a veteran. The manager I spoke to was the only individual who had any slight decency. The staff I dealt with were arrogant, know-it-all, ignorant young men who lack experience in life. They have no idea how to act professionally.

These folks are the absolute worst. I legitimately wanted to join but they make it impossible. They don't discuss rates and when they do they use the smoke and mirrors approach. It's 2024 and being semi transparent is a thing. Keep in mind this is just a gym. But they act like it is the best place ever. The funny thing was when I have done a tour it is not too packed. Fees! fees! Fees! No one explains what you’re paying for. My $59/ month membership has cost $400 for 2 months. $40 enrollment fee, $59 enhancement fee, $59 processing fee, $59 prepaid last month even though they require 30 days notice so you’re paying an extra month regardless of how much notice you give. It’s very frustrating when no one explains what you’re paying for and you budget $59/ month and end up paying $200/ month.

Went here for a one day guest access with an existing UFC fit member. The Manager, Joe, was very "upfront" (what he called it), but felt rude and quite defensive. He did NOT listen to what we were saying but kept saying his point over and OVER again which is that as a guest we had to pay 25$. I wasn't t told about this when I had contacted the gym earlier that day. Didn't feel like paying 25$ after and trying it out after this conversation.

I recently joined UFC Gym and couldn't be happier with my decision, I have to say it was one of the best fitness experiences I've ever had. I highly recommend that you DO NOT USE this gym! It's a scam! I would give a zero if I could. While the facilities are nice and the team is friendly, if you cancel they will double charge your card and then make you have to chase them to get your money back. I've talked to 4 different people, called, emailed, and now I have to go into the gym to get my money back because they charged me $500 for cancellation. Absolute garbage. My brother and I wanted to attend a BJJ class, and showed up at 7 for the No GI session. When we got there, everyone was wearing GI and we waited ten minutes. There was nobody showing up. So we asked the front desk and they said we should just walk in. When we walked in, we were immediately accosted by the coach. He was angry at our "disrespect" and immediately kicked us out of the class. We tried explaining the schedule online was incorrect, but this guy (Murph) was on his ego trip. As we were leaving, another student felt bad for us so he tried explaining that the schedule was wrong. The coach tried waving us back but insisted that we were in the wrong and we should come back tomorrow. No thanks, the guy completely ruined our experience.

Really great gym but the bathrooms are completely filthy. I come here 5 days a week and the floors and walls have never been cleaned since I’ve joined in November. The walls by the hand dryers have black mold and yellow spots all over it. This gym would be a 10/10 if they would hire some janitors or people that will actually clean the bathrooms properly.

My boyfriend and I walked in just wanting to look around and see how the gym looked inside. We were looking for a gym with a child care center which seems like there are so few nowadays. The inside of the gym blew us away. There are so many appealing classes and brand new equipment that we are excited to try out. We talked to Paola in the kids club and she made us feel like our 3 year old son would be looked after with love and would get plenty of energy out rather than sitting and watching tv. She explained protocols and caring for the kids and we loved her warm energy right away. We’re excited to bring our son in to meet her! Dan helped us get signed up and he really made us feel welcome to the UFC fit family. He went above and beyond to help us feel comfortable and answered all of our questions. I’m excited to try out the recovery room which includes hydro massage chairs, red light therapy and cryotherapy. After working out there a few times, we still love everything about the gym.

Stay away from this shadiest company ever! As you can see from the other 1 star reviews, they were supposed to open on Jun 2021 and delayed it by a year. On top of that, the gentleman who took our credit card details at the pop-up store told us that we would be charged when we took our first class. Signed up last year in June of 2021 was told the gym would be opening up that same year. I paid the enrollment fee which was $200 and was told my monthly membership fee was going to be $70 a month when the gym opened. Never got an update when the gym would be open and here we are 1 year later unaware the gym opened and never got an update or email about it being open and they triple charged my card. The person I spoke to over the phone told me my monthly membership fee was $140 a month which is ridiculous to charge that much just to use a gym. And was told she had no idea why I was triple charged but was given a email to address . It took 2 weeks for the email address that they gave me to respond and took another week for me get my money back. The very next month I got double charged and decided that was it I canceled my membership. This gym is overrated with extreme price hikes in membership fee's and very poor customer service . UFC fit gym is a hard pass in my opinion. Save your money and time your better off going somewhere alot better

There are a lot of positives to the gym, but also some huge negatives that warrant a two star review, IMO, so I'll try to lay them out. If you need a TLDR: It's a nice gym, not the one for me, and I think that the price does not compare well to similar facilities in the area. It's on brand with the UFC, but if you're that into MMA you might be better off going down the road to AKA.

Pros: Clean facility, front desk staff are generally pretty nice, the equipment is in good shape, the hours are flexible for gym patrons who might have late schedules or overnight work, and the coaches are 10/10. This spot is also really on brand if you're into the UFC. The classes are also well run and challenging.

Cons: The price - a comparable gym is 49ers fit in the Westgate mall, which has all the same equipment (including punching bags and turf) and a larger facility, but is 2 or 3 times cheaper depending on which package you get. I noticed other reviews complaining about other gyms' cleanliness, but Focus Fitness (across the street from the mall) is just as clean and also fraction of the price.

The class schedule/lack of - it's tough to fit your own workouts around the classes if you want to use the turf/bag area, which is probably why you signed up. On a few occasions, I've been training in one area to avoid a HIIT class, only for a youth boxing or adult kickboxing class to show up, even though it was not on the app schedule.

I also had a front desk staff member take a picture of me without my consent. He asked me if I wanted to take a selfie, I said no, and he very clearly did so anyways. It seems like an anomaly, usually the staff are super polite and I want to shout out the work they put in, but that was a bit odd.

A con, but not the gym's fault:
The other gym patrons - I don't want to shame people here. If you're working on your own physique and want to admire it, that's totally cool, but please do it on your own time, and at least make it to the locker room if you absolutely need to check yourself out. The mirrors are there for you to keep an eye on your form. During busy afternoons, I will wait on a chance to use equipment/areas, but folks will hang out and flex in the mirror for several minutes, or groups will chit chat near equipment for a long time. Very often, I notice folks will use the heavy bags, sweat all over them, then not wipe down the bags or mats, which is discourteous to the staff and other gym users (and also a recipe for staph infections).

This gym is the best gym in San Jose for four reasons.

First, the facility is clean. Not many gyms in San Jose are clean which is why I ultimately left my other gym membership. Cleanliness is so important, especially during these times.

Second, the staff is friendly and helpful. Specifically, the general managers Dan and the AGM Kenny have gone out of their way to ensure all members feel at home.

Third, the group classes and coaches are the best! I have taken kick boxing with coach Nouel Toma and he has been an amazing, uplifting, and supportive coach.

Fourth, the recovery room has made my recover so much more efficient and effective.

Wow, this gym is amazing!! They offer a lot more than any other gym i’ve been to. Their equipment is top notch. The locker rooms are very clean. I really love that they have separate saunas for men/women. The recovery area is excellent!! I love that it’s a one stop shop for all my fitness/wellness needs. Just signed up ! Kenny was the guy who was helping me out. Super nice, kind and down to earth person.
I’m switching from City Sports after 4 years and I couldn’t be happier with what I found here.
They are open till 9PM during weekend which is huge for me, they have so much more equipment including cardio section and they are less packed than CitySports.
I got tired of going to the gym and waiting for “kids” to finish texting and leave machines 😉.
This one is bit more expensive which is good because it will keep “children” who are not serious about workouts away from this place 💪🏼😊.
I highly recommend this place and Kenny for sign up 🤩💪🏼💣

The gym was originally supposed to open back in August but was pushed back multiple times. Only way I was able to get some information, was to contact their IG account. I was recently given info why the delay as well as a newer eta.
