Hi there, I am a certified personal trainer and nutrition consultant servicing the Tri-Valley Area, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasonton, Livermore, and Danville. I work out of my own private fitness gym and my services include 1-on-1 Personal Training, Group Fitness Classes, and Nutrition Coaching. Using science backed training methods, which include power lifting, bodybuilding, functional strength training, I help clients create fun and effective workouts that deliver fast and long lasting results! My wife and I have been working out with Gil for about a year and a half, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it has changed my life. Sounds dramatic, I know, but I really mean it. When I started, I was a 160 pound slug of a man who ate Panda Express multiple times a week. My plan was simple. Train with Gil for a little while, learn enough to work out on my own, and then move on. Fast forward a year and a half, and training with him has become one of the best parts of my week.

He has taught me how to train smart even outside the gym. How to recover, eat better, and actually understand what my body is doing. My motivation completely changed once I got into a regular routine (no duh). I went from 160 pounds of fried rice and orange chicken to a lot more muscle and a lot less regret.

My favorite stretch of training was when I started preparing for a marathon. Gil helped me figure out my nutrition, adjust my strength program, and somehow keep my muscles strong while running ridiculous distances.

Beyond fitness, Gil has become a real friend. We have deep conversations and he challenges me in more ways than just physical training. I almost never write reviews, but I had to for someone who has made such a big impact on my life.

I’ve been working with Gil for about two years now and I have nothing but great things to say. What I initially thought was going to be a short-term relationship turned into something more than I expected. I initially started working with Gil to lose weight and to improve my overall health and fitness. I never expected the journey to be easy, but I did not realize how difficult it would be. Gil created a meal and workout plan based on my body and lifestyle and we would talk once a week. I lost 30lbs in about 3-4 months. While that was a great accomplishment for me, what I was most happy with was how supportive Gil was throughout that process. I have a very busy work and personal life. There were weeks that I did not follow the meal plan at all or missed a handful of workouts. However, rather than making me feel bad about not sticking to the plan, he was actually very supportive and made me understand that it’s okay. There are times in life where things just don’t work out the way we hope, however, we don’t stop or give up. That was a huge thing for me because in my head, I always thought of personal trainers as very strict, demanding, and inflexible. But Gil was nothing like that and actually has a balanced and realistic approach to health and fitness.

With all that said, my overall health has changed dramatically from where it was two years ago. I have taken about two breaks (few months per break) in total which has made my weight fluctuate. However, I have overall kept to the changes in my eating and fitness. I hate using the word diet cause it sounds temporary. If anything, I learned to overall improve my eating habits and health lifestyle. My blood work and my health/energy/mood all show it. I currently meet with Gil for one on one workout sessions. It's crazy to experience my strength gains being similar to when I was in my early 20s but to also experience fitness gains I never experienced before!

Gil is my first personal trainer and will most likely be my only personal trainer. If you’re the type of person like me that was hesitant about personal trainers, get in touch with him. Whatever health and fitness goal you’re trying to achieve, I definitely recommend my brother right here. He will get you where you need to be and also surprise you with things you don’t know along the way. And more importantly, he really does care about your health and overall being.

3 years in and I still cannot recommend Gil and Underground Fitness enough. Gil is a master of his craft; knowledgeable of best practices and always finding ways to learn and share new information. I started training one-on-one with Gil about two years ago, and honestly, it was the first time I actually saw my body change after going to the gym over 20 times before that with no real results. Gil really knows his stuff when it comes to training.
Now, I’m part of his group sessions, and they’re great too. The workouts mix strength and cardio, all done in about an hour, which fits perfectly into my schedule and helps me work towards my fitness goals.
Besides being a great trainer, Gil has become a good friend. We’ve had some really interesting conversations on all kinds of topics. The sessions don’t just feel like physical workouts — they’re mentally refreshing too.

I found Gil through chance or perhaps the universe was telling me to skip the donuts I had planned to buy at Best Donuts (a couple doors down from his gym) lol.

Whether it was chance or fate, I am grateful to have found my gym! Which was not an easy feat. I had been looking for a boot camp style gym for some time.

I actually tried out Rumble here in San Ramon before stumbling upon Underground Fitness. And let me tell you my opinion. After my free 7 day trail at Rumble, I was 100% sure that place was NOT for me. It felt like a gimmicky gym. It had all the flash and flare that can attract members but if you're looking to get STRONG, toned or lean. That gym was not it.

That's why I say I am grateful to have found Underground Fitness with Gil as my trainer. To be honest, I'm not disciplined enough to workout on my own. I prefer to have someone with true knowledge of the body and nutrition directing and guiding me. Which Gil has fulfilled!

He's open and honest with how he hopes to help you accomplish your goal. He's there to guide us through our structured workouts. To oversee that our form is correct, to ensure we don't injure ourselves. The hour in the gym is something I look forward to. It's my "Me" time. It decompresses me from my work day and it's a huge plus that you can always count on having fun conversations with everyone in class.

Since starting with Gil in the early part of 2024, I have lost 13lbs. I also lowered my body fat percentage from 36.4% now to 29.8!!!!! It took me a while to get there because I was stubborn about my eating habits in the beginning lol. But seeing how much positive change can happen when you really put your mind to something...I can't put it into words. It's SO rewarding.

Thanks to Gil, I am continuing my fitness and nutrition journey. He is very supportive to all his clients and well-informed in the health and fitness umbrella.

I have been going for Gil’s group classes since last 6 months. I have been seeing significant changes in my body ever since I have been attending his classes.
His routine is very easy to follow and not boring. The sets are very interesting. I feel good and positive after attending his classes.
He also regularly shares eating tips and recipes with us. If I don’t feel good about any exercise, he also switches up and share alternates to suit your body.
Even in a group class settings, he often corrects forms if the form is incorrect.

Every group session is well organized, and he never minds repeating instructions as many times as needed. It’s easy to stay engaged and motivated. Gil has been an absolute game-changer in my fitness journey. Within 6 months, he helped me achieve my ideal body for my wedding ceremony in Jan 2024.

Although I'm generally pretty active (I ran the SF half marathon in 2023 and have another one coming up this March in Livermore), always mixing cardio/strength exercises on my own and following classes on Peloton, I never paid much attention to my diet and just ate whatever I wanted. I decided to get serious for once to look good for my wedding ceremony.

The results speak for themselves - I received lots of compliments from everyone and even had to tailor my wedding dress smaller by an inch during my last fitting – a testament to the incredible progress I've made under his guidance.

In terms of weight loss, I am thrilled to share that I've shed about 6 pounds during our time together (124 to 118 lbs). While the weight loss wasn’t drastic, there is a clear difference in my appearance - much toner arms, back, and abdomen area.

I have been considering personal training for a few years now and finally I came across someone that was the right fit. Finding Gil as my personal trainer has been a great find and I did the one on one private training (Gil offers both 1-1 training and group training (up to 3 clients). From a personal trainer point of you, Gil knows his stuff and he’s a great trainer. But, what makes him exceptional is his ability to engage in conversation with his client and make it a fun and exciting hour for the client to look forward to each time they come to the gym. Based on my goals, Gil was able to come up with a meal plan for me and a workout schedule to help me lose lose weight and gain strength. During my 30 session package which spanned over 15 weeks, my weight dropped by 6.5% while at the same time getting much stronger. I hit my PR for squats, deadlifts, and more! Overall, Gil’s routine and plan in addition to the private gym made this a great experience and I’m definitely coming back next year to do my next set of 30 sessions.

I worked with Gill for 6 months to improve body composition, posture, and functional strength. During the 6 months, I dropped 9 points on body fat, gained an inch of height from better posture, and went to 10 pull-ups for reps from 2. I have trained with Gil on & off since 2015. Gil helped me regain confidence in my abilities. During our personal training sessions, he listened well to my concerns & focused on my post-surgery weaker areas. I was able to return to dancing and other strenuous activities. I have been training with Gil for over a year now. I feel stronger and healthier than ever. I still need to work on my diet but my stamina has significantly improved. He is one of the better trainer I have worked with. He is very knowledgeable and professional. When you get comfortable with some of weight training/exercises, Gil changes it so that you can push/challenges yourself and come out of the comfort zone. Every session is different and challenging. Time flies when working out with him and we chat about TV series..etc. Gil also share healthy eating recipes/habits via his email newsletter. Gil is very flexible with timing and very accommodating. Gil is by far one of the best personal trainers I have ever had! I started going to his group session a couple of months ago and I can see how much he truly cares about his clients. Even though it's a group session, he gives attention to each and everyone of us. He would come and correct the form right away if we are doing it wrong. Can't say enough good things about Gilbert. He's a skilled knowledgeable trainer with an outstanding zeal for helping others. He's dedicated to the process of helping you get healthy and in shape. I started his bootcamp after not working out for several months from an injury. Gilbert was patient and extremely helpful. He gave that little bit of push I needed while allowing the time I also needed to get fully back into it. It didn't take long before I was strength training and lifting more than I would have done on my own. I highly recommend Gilbert for all levels of training as well as nutritional needs. This review is long overdue. I was on the hunt yet again for another gym/personal trainer after gaining 10lbs pre-Covid! After a little research, I stumbled upon this amazing trainer, Gil Aguirre. I was looking for someone who was kind, funny, knowledgeable about fitness and health, but more importantly, someone who would push me in the gym the way I needed to be pushed to achieve results. Gil is all of those things and more. While I did notice results with him almost immediately, my diet hasn't been 100% because I am a stress eater and well lately, I've been stressed out! But he is always there every step of the way to offer guidance, humor, and positive reinforcement. I feel stronger and more toned, people have commented on how great I look, and I haven't even reached my goal weight! My wife and I have been training with Gil for the past six months. He is an amazing trainer with lots of patience and puts lot of thought into the exercise routines that fit your needs. I have some sports injuries to my knees and hamstring and Gil is very careful to provide alternate exercises whenever there is an exercise targeting my problem areas.

In addition to the workout routines, Gil also provides customized recipes tailored to achieve weight loss. But he doesn't force you to follow his diet regimen. He also sends out a really great weekly newsletter with workout tips and recipes. We have got wonderful results from him.

If you are looking for an awesome trainer in Dublin, look no further. Very highly recommended.

I have been training with Gil 3x a week for almost six weeks now and it really could not be any better. I’ve never trained 1 on 1 before as I always joined group boot-camps. I reached out to Gil desperate for help to overcome some physical restrictions I have and he’s been super accommodating and dedicated to my safety and building strength. I’ve built quite a bit of strength, too! And I know with his help I’m only going to continue to progress. The works outs are challenging, but extremely rewarding once you get through them. I was looking for someone to really help protect me and guide me through exercises and equipment I honestly have no idea about. I trust his judgment on new skills or when we go up in weight, and he’s attentive enough to stop me when we should correct a certain movement or go down in weight. He’s easy to interact with and strives to help you better your lifestyle through exercise and also through your diet. He helps customize your diet via your own individual nutrition needs, likes and dislikes and is realistic with expectations. We're currently doing a little trial and error because my weight is like a yo-yo since I've never done strength training and had a long fat-cation with the quarantine. We laugh and have a good time through every training session, which makes it even more fun to get through. I just signed up for another 30 training sessions because I’m already so satisfied with my results.

Gil has worked with me weekly to return my body to a healthy state. From menopause muffin top to a stomach I can be proud of, he gets the results. I am not a huge weights person, and frankly my ability to balance was really off when I started. But through his workout plans (which he is always being creative with) I continue to see improvements. My wife signed me up with Gil for three sessions when I was about to start working out on my own. I thought I knew a lot about workouts and diets that I decided that I would only do those three sessions with him and not sign-up for more.

The first day we met, we spoke briefly about the goals and he made me do some exercises to evaluate my fitness level (which wasn't great !!).

The second session went pretty much the same way as the first one. We spoke a lot about workouts, goals, diets, etc. By the end of the third session, I realized how comfortable I was with Gil that I was interested in signing up for more sessions (not once he asked me about it until I brought it up on my own).

Gil cares a lot about you and your goals and customizes the workouts based on your comfort. He is very patient and clarifies all your doubts/concerns (I bug/annoy him with a lot of questions, mostly stupid ones and he has always answered them patiently). He focuses more on the technique and makes sure you do the exercise correctly. He doesn't overload the sessions with too many exercises (since he never compromises on quality and technique). He is very flexible and schedules sessions based on your availability.

It's been a year since I started working out and I have already lost 40 pounds and about 8% body fat. I have a different set of goals now and I just feel that my fitness journey has just started. I still have a long way to go. I am confident that I would be able to achieve my goals with the help of Gil. He is probably the best trainers I have worked with and is worth every penny.

Its been a year since I started my personal training sessions with Gil for my weight loss goals and I have looked forward to my next session every day since then. He really listened to my physical goals and studied my limits and tailored an exercise routine around that. I really like how he checks in on my diet and sleep patterns which have improved greatly since I have met him. He is very flexible with his schedule around the week which is a great plus. Since I have started training with him I have had a shift from Weight loss to fat loss, gaining strength and being agile. Gil makes sure we develop a habit of pushing ourselves to give it all. He really explains the importance of eating healthy and ways to improve your metabolism and always focus on the big picture.I have been going to his group sessions since last month and I have to say I never expected a group session which feels so close to a personal 1:1 session. It was a nice way to meet all his clients and also feel comfortable enough to try new things while I can hardly catch my breadth. The group sessions are planned so well that there is always a surprise elements in the routine every week. If anyone wants to test waters, I would suggest to start with the group sessions.

Both me and my husband are training with Gil currently and we have had a reformed outlook on fitness and healthy lifestyle. All praises to Gil :)

Gilbert is the best personal trainer I’ve ever had!! He’s knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition, he pushes you, PLUS he’s professional and affordable. I worked with Gilbert for a couple of months while I got ready for my wedding. I lost 10lbs with him and gained muscle on my arms and back (which is EXACTLY what I wanted to look fabulous on my wedding gown).

He would evaluate me before and after each session and create a work out plan specifically for me. His workouts were so intense we that I kept losing weight after our sessions were over. I started working out at Platinum Fitness (now Dublin Fitness) back in September 2018. After spending about 4 months or so working out on my own and following workouts I found online and seeing no results, I decided it was time I reach out to someone more knowledgeable for help.

I always used to see Gil around at the gym working with his clients and I always admired from a far how one on one he was with them. You could tell he cared about them and their success.

Since I'm someone who didn't necessarily want someone to personal train with me everyday, I asked Gil if he would instead write me a workout plan, giving me something to follow when I went into the gym on my own. After talking to him for awhile about my goals (build muscle while also burning fat) we opted for a 3 month program. This included a workout plan, help with my nutrition, and coaching along the way. After lots of hard work and help from Gil, 3 months later, I was blown away with my results and overall new body composition! You will come to find that not only will Gil get you results, he will also make himself available to you and answer any questions along the way! He takes a holistic approach the health and wellness and focuses on educating his clients along the way.

At the moment, I am currently on my second program with Gil and am seeing amazing results once again! I'm excited for the next progression of my fitness journey with his help.

I have tried other smaller or independent trainers in the past and even some larger companies but they never really worked for me. I always left my sessions feeling like, I was just taking up an hour out of someone's day. I really wanted to exercise more. Just running or riding was getting boring. I felt award in the gym using machines or weights, because I didn't understand how to train correctly. I arrived at my appointment with Gil. We talked back and forth for about ten minutes or so, took some measurements and then he said "let's get to work". Thirty minutes later I was pulling a sled across the parking lot and flinging battle ropes around. Then we went back inside and started on some free weights and finished off with a little cardio and I was more than done. I was feeling this workout and I knew I would be feeling it for a couple of days. Gil told me this isn't a typical workout but that he listened to what I wanted to accomplish earlier and what he saw in what I could do and picked this routine for the session.
I stayed consistent training with Gil for six months. He taught me what it means to create your workouts with push and pull in mind, to always take deep breaths and keep your abs tight and focus on form always. Soon I was benching and dead lifting more weight and with better technique then I ever had. I was feeling good and others could see the change. Then life changed and I had to stop training with Gil. I didn't stay as consistent as I wanted but I had an understanding now of what to do in the gym. Gil helped me find the confidence and to "not over think things and make it complicated". I recommend Gil as he actually listens to what you want, your goals and looks to see how he can help you be successful.

Gilbert is the best trainer I have ever worked with. If you are looking for a personal trainer he is the best bet. He is reachable anytime and he has really good training plans for all levels. His diet plans are very helpful in building muscle and gaining strength.

I worked with Gil and he’s on the best trainers out there. I’m a big online reader and watch YouTube comparing programs and hurt my back working out. I reached out to Gil to work on my form and slowly bring me back to lifting again. He got my confidence back in doing compound lifts like squats and deadlifts and feel better than ever. He also cares about meal plans, macros and sleeep which was very insightful. If you’re thinking of calling Gil you should not hesitate.

When I started with Gilbert, I explained to him that I was a runner and I want to be a stronger and better runner. So, I needed my overall core body strong. My focus was all about running but now my focus is about my strength training, all because of Gilbert, he is an excellent and inspiring trainer. Gilbert is the best private trainer that I have seen so far. I have known him for almost 4 years. He always showed care and even designed a meal plan for me to better meet my fitness goal. During the training, he always took some notes about the weights for me and encouraged me to challenge a heavier weights or just push one more. With his support, I am able to continue to try new weights that I couldn't do it myself. In addition, Gilbert is very flexible on the schedule and even after hours.
