My son started when he was 9 years and needed a sport that encouraged him to learn self-control, mindfulness, and self-confidence, all while being engaged. Enter UBAKC! We started attending classes 2x a week. Three years later, I can honestly say he loves karate and everything it has brought him-friends, mental and physical strength, and a sense of calm. This dojo nurtures students at any age and there is a sense of family and community. Sensai Joane creates a positive and welcoming environment so much so that our daughter couldn't wait to join as well. Now having 2 kids at the dojo, Sensai and her senpais continue to lead with nothing but grace and respect. ¡Estamos muy contentos de haber encontrado United Bay Area Karate Club! Mi hijo ha estado en clase de Karate en este Dojo por casi 2 años comenzando a la edad de 5. En mi familia hemos mirado como ha crecido en fuerza física, mental y emocional. Estamos muy contentos de ver que cada que tiene clases él está motivado y listo para asistir.

I could not have been more excited to see this gem pop up in our neighborhood. A very accomplished Sensei AND a traditional form of karate within a mile of our house!

Although, we needed to wait until August of 2021 to get into the dojo due to COVID, there are already a fair amount of higher-belt students due to Sensei Joane's classes at a local elementary school campus during the pandemic. They are wonderful examples for both of our boys to look up to, and their dedication to continuously improve is infectious. The Competition Team is outstanding, and their level of proficiency and pride in their discipline is an exemplary sign of the instruction and passion from Sensei.

From the first time we stepped into the dojo, we felt a sense of family that I remember back in the day when I was into martial arts. Everyone is very helpful, leads by example and wants to see their classmates make the improvements in both physical and mental control.

Sensei Joane has even stepped in to address some of the behaviors we have been coaching to with our older son, and I only wish we had joined earlier. Such a big improvement in how he is controlling himself in the dojo and at school alike. I know their self confidence and pride in themselves is due to their hard work and focus in the dojo, and my wife and I could not be happier with their development.

Both my boys LOVE UBAKC, and so do we.

My 6y old has been learning Karate at UBAKC for a year already and he loves it. Sensei Joane is a great teacher, she drives kids to become stronger physically, mentally and emotionally and has managed to create a real community around her young dojo. This is the best place for anyone who wants to learn Karate. My kids have learned in a lot in these past few months. The instructors in UBAKC are very disciplined, they give close attention to every kid during class. I will highly recommend UBAKC.

I am flabbergasted by how much my little sisters have improved as martial artists by attending this dojo! They're stronger athletes and students because of Sensei Orbon's training. Truly amazing!
