About the Club

Welcome to Mission Viejo Karate, Kenpo-style martial arts. Whether you want yourself or your kids to become more confident, focused or disciplined, or even if you just want to find a fun family activity, we are here to help you. At our dojo we follow the martial art form of Kenpo Karate, which is a combination of Japanese Karate, Shaolin Kung fu and Jiu-jitsu. There are many martial arts to learn (Kung-Fu, Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Kempo, Escrima, Judo, Taekwondo, Kick-Boxing, etc.), but our primary focus is to make your martial arts journey memorable

This studio is the best! Our kids absolutely love their senseis. They make the lessons tons of fun for them while still teaching them respect, self-discipline, and of course self-defense. Going to this studio made such a difference. I cannot recommended it enough!

Very kind with a looooot of fun!
So different to Germany

We are new from Germany. My children couldn't speak English fluently, but that wasn't a problem. They had great fun and will most likely come back for the new school year.

My kids have been students in this dojo for just over a year.

We brought our kids here because they asked - they saw the dojo as we walked by, and to them, it looked like it was fun. They were right.

Our first introductory lesson (complimentary) was what my wife and I needed to set us at ease and ensure us that we were making the right decision for our kids (five, seven). The staff here have a teaching style that our kids (and many kids) can relate to. This in and of itself is a special talent that we genuinely appreciate.

We watched our kids earn their stripes and earn their belts. These are not handed out; the kids need to have a certain level of mastery. Watching the kids’ sense of pride and achievement at each level was wonderful.

The dojo is conveniently located and has a good amount of parking, even when the restaurant next door is packed. Finding a spot to park has never been an issue.

Being a "karate parent" has been genuinely rewarding. While of course I found myself cheering on and supporting my kids, I really enjoyed watching the entire class of kids progress as well, especially as other karate parents and I would chat.

Hands down, this dojo is an asset to our community. We appreciate everything they do and appreciate the individual attention they give to each student.

My teen boys started attending this studio shortly after COVID hit, since with schooling online I wanted to make sure they had physical outlets to disperse some of that testosterone! And it applied to their PE credit for their online schooling. The senseis do a great job of being fun but also keeping order in class and definitely challenge my boys. It’s not cheap but it’s well worth it in my opinion. The studio is always clean and smells good (I’ve been to some other locations and have not felt the same) and it’s easy to reschedule private lessons if things come up.

Most of the staff made me feel very welcomed and comfortable. They were always there when someone needed them. My only issue is they have a man working there who over-worked us. Other than that this place is incredible and I think you should check it out.

Our son has been going to this dojo for over two years now. Let me begin by saying not all Karate dojos are created equal. The level of instruction and the lessons taught inside the dojo go far beyond what most "Karate" places teach. Yes, they teach martial arts, but the Senseis believe that they are part of the parents support system. They have your back with discipline issues at home and school. They are roll models to your children and encourage them to be the best they can be.Their level of instruction is top notch. The senseis have an amazing way of being strict but having fun at the same time. They love to play around and have fun when the time is suitable yet keep things strict and serious when it needs to be. They really have found a great balance to keep everyone learning and growing but having fun so that you want to keep going.
The level of growth that we have seen in our son has been amazing. It is so much fun to see our son progress and grow in martial arts. We feel like he has a major advantage if he had to fight to protect himself. However, the martial arts is only a part of it. He has better balance, he is more self-confidence, he is better behaved and has better self-control, and he is becoming a better leader.
I highly recommend that you go over and check this place out. Stop by and talk to one of the senseis. You won't meet nicer people, and just maybe you will even see Sensei Shehan's amazing beard.

My 3 year old just started lessons and he loves it here. The staff is amazing. They are patient with him and he is learning more then just punches and kicks. He is learning how to focus and follow instructions. They offer trial periods so you can see if it is for your child.
