Our boys started karate here back in August, and I couldn’t be happier with how much they’ve grown. At the beginning, they were super wiggly — during meditation they’d peek every two seconds and had a hard time staying focused. Fast forward a few months, and they’re earning stripes, remembering their blocks and kicks, and showing so much discipline and confidence.

The instructors are wonderful with the kids — patient, encouraging, and firm in all the right ways. They make class fun while still teaching respect, focus, and technique. I’ve noticed huge improvements not just in their coordination, but also in how they listen and follow directions at home.

They’ve worked their way up to two yellow stripes and are now training for their yellow belt — such a proud moment! I love that this dojo truly teaches martial arts, not just playtime or PE-style activities. They’re learning real skills that build a strong foundation for life.

Highly recommend to any parent looking for a structured, positive, and motivating environment for their kids!

I’m not the parent who usually takes the kids to class, so I get to see their progress from more of an outside perspective — and wow, the difference is incredible! When they first started, their movements were all over the place and focus was short-lived. Now, they take it seriously — they bow before practice, run through their blocks and kicks with confidence, and even correct each other’s stances at home.

It’s amazing to see how much structure, discipline, and pride they’ve gained in just a few months. The instructors really know how to motivate and encourage the kids while still keeping it fun. I love seeing how excited they are to show me what they’ve learned each week — from their new stripes to their growing confidence.

Our family enjoyed this dojo very much. It’s a modern dojo that is clean and has nice mat so we feel safe and welcoming to practice here. All the sensei that we trained with are very kind and professional. I really enjoyed the group class led by sensei Dragon who made sure the students have good cardio exercises and stretches. He also teaches practical self defense moves and break them down so students can follow easily. This is a great place to learn Karate for any age!

The USSD Woodbridge team is amazing. I can’t say enough nice things about the whole team here. They have been super great in getting my child to focus and listen. Sensei dragon has been so patient working with her. Allowing her a moment to be silly and then refocusing her energy on the task at hand. Letting her understand when it’s ok to be silly and when she should be serious. Whenever she gets new stripes on her belt she feels so accomplished and will be earning a new color belt soon. All the hard work and effort over the past few months makes her so proud of herself and she likes to show off to her cousins and family. I love the confidence they are helping instill in her and how she still has fun with everyone here. From the little cleanup games and the bowing. She is understanding it’s a family culture here not just a team and she enjoys coming each time to see her Sensei and her friends. She does enjoy ninja night a lot too. She can be silly and run around with her friends.

If you’re hesitant to start with your child. Don’t be. These are great people and so very nice and understanding of all personality types. My child is particular and they adjust to her learning style and needs. Totally recommend this place for any learner regardless of age or sex.

I can’t say enough about the Woodbridge USSD Karate dojo but most importantly the outstanding instructors! Sensei Dragon has been teaching my 4 year old son for almost a year. He is by far one of most patient, kind, gentle instructors my little one has ever had as an instructor in any capacity. My son is learning self confidence and discipline but in doses that are appropriate for a little boy his age all while still having fun. As a mother of 3 schedules change for me quite often and Sensei Anthony is always willing to change things around in order for make up lessons etc and there is never a problem. We are very pleased with Karate Woodbridge and can hardly wait for my 2 year old to begin lessons as well!

This is the best place for kids to practice Karate! The team is very professional and commited to the kids success. My son goes there and he loves every minute! Irvine Karate USSD is the best martial arts place I have seen in orange county. I have tried 2 other places and they did not work for my son. Their private class requirement really helps kids strengthen their skills. The instructors are great, especially Sensei Vladimir. He does a great job at making him focus and perfect his skills.

My family and I have belonged to the United Studios of Self Defense, Irvine for about three years. They are Mighty in all the ways that count most. They are Strong in offering support to the younger groups without being overbearing. The dojo is consistent in their methodology of respect, community, continued growth, self-exploration and above all - Fun and Fitness. Sensei Ryan and Sensei Vlad are very active role models under Master George, all of whom stress education, perseverance and familial duty. My son is currently a Blue Belt and plans to continue his instruction at our community dojo.
