Yoga studio Yoga instructorAbout the Club
Veda Yoga Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the community through education, instruction and guidance in the scientific principles of yoga, as originally taught in the Vedic literatures of ancient India, in order to assist individuals and society at large, in awakening their full “spiritual potential”.
The name Veda Yoga was inspired by the sacred scriptures of ancient India. Veda in sanskrit means “knowledge,” and yoga means “union”.
So the compound Veda Yoga indicates the path to enlightenment (Yoga; union with the Divine), that is guided by the great wisdom tradition of ancient India (Veda).

The studio was nice, and Jill was an excellent instructor. She and the other staff members were very kind and welcoming. I would love to keep coming to this studio if the parking were more convenient. The location itself is also great.

The studio is in a convenient location in Culver City. Its got a 90s ashtanga power yoga vibe. I was greeted by a friendly woman who explained the studio to me. The building is quite dated and the bathroom is awkwardly outside and there is no shower even though they heat the classes but the space is comfortable and clean. The floors are made of a bouncy rubber material in the studio which felt nice underneath my mat as an added layer.
The reason for only 3 stars is because the class is the one hour class began with a Shruti box and chanting followed rapidly by a power flow which included bird of paradise and side crow, then somewhere in the middle some random abs accompanied by a loud bass song then a couple of floor hip stretches and boom shavasana and OMs. This was all instructed while a woman to my left had her phone set up at the front of her mat and was recording herself. I feel like Pattabhi Jois is rolling over in his grave. The teachers cues were well timed and organized and she handled the phone filming in class like a champ when I pointed it out but still, sigh, yoga has become so confused. Am I doing Kirtan? Am I doing an ab workout? Am I doing a power flow with peak poses with very little warm up? Am I meditating and sounding Om? Am I going to be on someones Instagram post later? Whew.

This yoga studio is such a gem!! The ambiance is calming, and the heat is at the perfect temp. Not too intense, just right for a great sweat and deeper stretch.
I’ve really enjoyed Emily’s Sculpt class and Esli’s Level 1 class—they both bring such great energy and make every session feel fun and empowering. I even brought my mom (a first-timer) to a class with Jillian, and she was so kind, welcoming, and supportive. It made the experience really special.
The schedule is also SUPER convenient, with both early morning and late-night classes that fit easily into my day. There’s always something to match my mood—whether I want to sweat, slow down, or reset. This studio has slowly become a regular part of my wellness routine!

This Yoga Studio changed my life. I came here after having a lot of time off of working out since 2020 when all the gyms were closed. I was intimidated and had never really done yoga and Kumi was so encouraging and told me to try four classes because she said my body would start to open up and that was it! I now go there 6 days a week and I LOVE it! I asked if it would help me to get toned and Kimi told me yes, especially if you do the sculpt classes. My body (and mind and spirit) has completely transformed and I am the strongest and fittest I have ever been at 43 but more importantly I have this amazing community that feels like home.

Veda yoga is a beautiful little healing sanctuary. I accidentally showed up to my class on the wrong day, and I didn't want to pay for another drop in, so I was just going to leave and come back the next day for the class that I booked. But my teacher invited me to be her guest for the class so I was able to practice anyways (please don't use this a hack for a free class!!!! this was truly an accident and she extended her compassion and kindness to me <3)!
The Veda 1 flow was toasty, but not too hot, playful, and invigorating. Will definitely be back ~ thank you Jaya and Veda Yoda Center :")

I recently attended my first class at Veda Yoga and let me tell you, it was exactly what I needed. From the moment I stepped foot into the studio, I immediately felt a sense of calm and tranquility enveloping me. The ambiance was serene, and the gentle aroma of essential oils filled the air, setting the perfect mood for a transformative experience.
But what truly made this class exceptional was our guide, Jill. Let me just say, Jill is hands down one of the best yoga instructors I have ever had the pleasure of practicing with. Her expertise and genuine passion for yoga shone through every step of the way. She effortlessly combined her extensive knowledge with a warm and nurturing presence, making everyone feel comfortable and supported throughout the session.
Jill's instructions were clear and easy to understand, even for a novice like myself. She guided us seamlessly through each pose, providing various modifications to accommodate different levels of experience. Her soothing voice and gentle encouragement created an unwavering sense of mindfulness and focus throughout the class.
What impressed me the most about Jill was her ability to make every student feel seen and heard. She took the time to individually connect with each of us, offering personalized adjustments and words of encouragement. This personalized attention made me feel valued and truly motivated to push myself further in my practice.
By the end of the class, I felt an indescribable sense of peace and contentment. My body felt stretched and rejuvenated, and my mind was quieter than ever before. I knew in that moment that I had found something truly special, and I couldn't wait to return for more.
Without a doubt, Veda Yoga, with Jill as the guiding force, has exceeded all my expectations. I cannot express enough gratitude for the profound experience she provided. Her passion, expertise, and undeniable talent make her the ultimate yoga instructor.
I've already marked my calendar for my next class, and I can confidently say that Veda Yoga and Jill have earned a lifelong student in me. Whether you are an experienced yogi or a beginner like myself, I highly recommend giving Veda Yoga a try. Trust me, you won't regret it.

I wanted to try their Soundbath as I am an expectant mother, and I thought it should be relaxing to hear the sounds. However, they heated up the room so much from the previous class, and there is no AC, and the instructor didn't even bother to turn up the fans so we could stay cool during Soundbath. The tiny crack in the windows did not cool down the room. We were all so uncomfortable during the session. If you ask me, there are better yoga studios in LA.

I have tried so many yoga classes in LA and Veda yoga is the most special studio I’ve found. Each class is 60 mins but feels like 20 min because of the beautiful, gentle energy of the intentional instructors and the studio easily puts me in a flow state. The flows feel more sacred than other studios because Veda truly honors the ancient traditions of yoga. I feel blessed to be in the welcoming, supportive, and inclusive Veda community, and never leave a class without connecting with someone new. The instructors are truly gifted and it is their calling to teach yoga. The way they shift and elevate my energy over the course of the class amazes me. Special shout-out to Jill who heals me with each flow!

I love this place. It's a little studio in the heart of downtown Culver City owned by a local who runs it with a friendly team. Intimate space with variety of classes or events.
Sincere people, strong teachers, seems like a solid community where people get to know each other. Every class I've taken so far is great, not all about the physical workout but classes definitely get you that. No showers so be prepared to leave sweaty or bring something to change into.
Perks: easy enough parking if you have an extra 5-10 minutes to search. Meters or street parking are all close. Free community events regularly and pay extra for workshops.
Highly recommend.

Veda transformed me from a non-believer to a die hard yogi!
Wilson and Jillian are fantastic teachers, and also genuinely lovely people (which I feel is important when you’re listening to someone talk at you for an hour or more). Their directions are clear and precise so you’re not looking up to check you’re doing the right thing, and they’re very observant, constantly checking you’re positioning. Their classes are truly for all levels, and although you’ve worked hard you’ll somehow come out relaxed.
The classes are stand alone, but if you attend regularly it is more of a course moving though different focuses which I love, adding new techniques every week to get more from each pose as you progress, as well as exploring new ones! A tinny tiny gripe is my Gympass subscription doesn’t work at the studio, though it shows on my end. Overall, this studio is a gem and I will continue to attended weekly!

I started yoga with Veda near the end of 2018. I’ve tried a couple other studios in Culver City, but I always come back to Veda. Instructors make an effort to learn your name from the very first class!! That meant so much to me as an anxious little bean with no knowledge of yoga. On top of that, I love how the staff takes yoga seriously but not necessarily themselves. Jillian is one of my fave instructors (name bias aside) because of how funny she is and how approachable she makes yoga.
Definitely take advantage of their new student deals if you’re thinking about it. I’m already looking forward to my next class at Veda :)

Love love love Veda! I moved to Culver City last year from NY & tried several yoga studios in the area that weren't the right fit. I finally found Veda and haven't looked back! I preach to everyone about how great Veda is: Hot enough to get a great detox while still developing and growing my practice. I've learned chin stand and firefly since joining a few months ago! In the past, at traditional hot yoga, I would find the flows to be very basic to account for the extreme heat and I wouldn't grow. That's not the case at Veda! It's all-around perfect. Shout out to Kumi, Jillian, & Jules!

Veda Yoga is not just a place to practice yoga, but is truly a community. From the space to the instructors to the people who practice here you can not go wrong. Kumi, Jillian, KC, Nora, Tracy, Jules, and every instructor will make you feel successful and push you on your mat. Getting back to group fitness after the pandemic I had so many reservations, but they were quickly forgotten once I stepped foot in this amazing studio. Pop in today, you won't regret it!

I've doing yoga on Zoom for the past two years since pandemic hit. Finally I was ready to be in person again. So happy to have found Veda Yoga Center! The people are warm and kind. The teachers are inspiring and the flows are intuitive to yogis (can be as gentle or challenging as you make it). There are so many classes to choose from all day long. I would highly recommend!

I freaking love this place - seriously, Kumi has created THE BEST YOGA STUDIO OUT THERE (and there are a LOT in Los Angeles). I am SO HAPPY they survived Covid and are still here!!!!! The Veda community is inviting and inclusive, totally not pretentious and welcoming to all levels of yoga practice. Plus the teachers are all friendly and helpful - and they even manage to work in the spirituality and ancient wisdom of yoga so gracefully along with your practice! A total Gem of a place. Do not miss out - grab your mat and run here!

Very inclusive, amazing seminars, offering dynamic classes, not to mention the immersion and teacher training programs - literally this place has it all. Highly recommended for beginners looking to learn more about yoga to the more advanced yogi, looking to deepen your practice. Trust me, come take a class. You too will find home.

I was liking this studio until today. I made it a couple of minutes late to a class. Someone walked in right in front of me, however i was left out in the street, locked out. Rang the doorbell for half an hour. Nothing. No one in reception. Class was over 30 minutes ago and I keep calling to see if I can join another. Nothing. No one picks up. How do you expect to conduct business without 1.- someone in reception when youre OPEN 2.- locking out your costumers 3.- not picking up phones. I dont understand.

I have wandered into so many yoga studios over the years, even stayed for a few, but I have never felt as comfortable as I do here. Each teacher is informative, kind, gentle, and strong. There are so many classes here, so many different styles too!!! Each time I leave the building I am in a better place, mentally, than when I arrived-anxiety, stress, constant chaos, traffic, inner chatter… it’s all lessened dramatically since I have found this amazing place with all the wonderful people who teach here. You guys are the best! 🙏

Absolutely love this studio! Have been renting the space for months to run my own Bollywood classes. Super kind owner (Kumi) and front desk people.. basically it is a sweet community of yoga lovers! Everyone is welcomed here.
The studio is decorated beautifully and the patio is great with an outdoor shower! My fav part is the flooring. I have not been having any pains after working out/dancing in this space because of the soft flooring. Highly recommend this for instructors if you are looking to rent this place for a class/shoot or for anyone who wants to take a yoga class.

Love this place! Veda Sculpt is legit and kicks my butt every time! Once you find the right instructor, this place feels just like home and I love coming here every time. They have a policy of never turning away anyone, so even if the room is beyond full they will still figure out a way of getting more people in there. This can lead to super packed and close encounters with your neighbor, which is ok but you have to be in the right mindset for that. So if you don't like that, I'd recommend going either very early/late or midday because the mid morning/afternoon times can get packed.

I love the location, smaller scale, friendly instructors. It has some ease of booking but other issue like applying a discount code when buying a pack of lessons through the portal still need to be tuned better. However, once again, this can easily get resolved by just coming into the studio and having one of the instructors help.

Very friendly, welcoming, and hospitable. Good vibe all around. Great classes, great instructors, great workouts, great owner. Yumi leads from the front and leads by example! Challenging, yet accessible to virtually anybody, with anybody, at all levels.
I showed up for an Acro class on Saturday morning and she invited me to stay afterwards for an additional class on the house and then took the time to sit and chat with me afterwards.
This studio is a bit of a trek from where I stay but if it were closer, I’d definitely make it my home studio.

1. Excellent teachers.

5. My favorite yoga place in town.
6. Parking could be tricky. I recommend biking or walking, if possible. Bus stop is right next to the center.
7. They are a non-profit organization, which I love! As much as I like Adam Smith, free market and capitalism, I like non-profit models as they have a vital role in addressing specific challenges in a society. I say this because, yoga has wonderful health benefits and it should be made accessible for everyone.

The instructors are friendly and welcoming, and they always ask me what injuries I have and what poses I'd like to work on. Their instructions are clear, and they've got truly supportive attitudes that make me want to be there. They always seem to know when to make sure I hold back when I'm injured, and to challenge myself to push further when I'm healthy. I've seen my yoga practice improve since joining Veda in July, and I always look forward to my next class.
