Not a bad gym, but I would say not worth the premium membership cost.

Pros: Staffed well, lots of them seem friendly and do their best to keep things clean and stocked, separate adult pool with a bar area.

Cons: The front desk staff stare at you like a deer in headlights and are often distracted on phones or gossiping so the first impression of walking in is lacking. bathrooms can be gross upstairs, gym is much busier than you would think for a place that is not cheap.

Gym equipment feedback: Lots of barbell racks which I do like, but the gym equipment is a hit or miss. Examples include the bench presses being slightly misaligned so that the bar is being held crooked, long down times for broken equipment, not enough benches in the dumbbells area (hard to ever find a free one), overall the equipment feels like it was just crammed where they could fit them which tells me there was a lack of designing/planning when building the place. Huge annoyance is that they don't have trees for plates which means I need to waste time trying to take some plates off other equipment. I feel like the variety of equipment is lacking, I would expect more machines for triceps and other isolated muscle groups but they just cram one or two of each one. They use the Hoist brand for most machines and pulleys and I don't like them since the movement does not feel right to me.

Overall thoughts: If you live near by and can afford the high cost of membership, I would choose this gym for the convenience and nothing more. I used to go to City Sports that had way better equipment for working out but it was always a zoo so I moved over to this gym hoping I can get away from the crowds but not much difference in that regard unfortunately. I will stay a member while I live in close proximity but once I move I will happily move on to the next best gym option near me.

I would give it a Zero stars if I could. It is just a glorified gym with bells and whistles which definitely doesn't deserve the money they charge for, especially for the gym area. I was supposed to get a free session with a professional trainer, which in my case was a very young 22-24 dude who didn't know anything about a 50y old female body , but proceeded to slander me and make me feel bad and embarrassed. Then the gym area is basically taken over by young buffed up influencers who can't put their phone down while exercising, but keep the machines occupied long enough to make you give up , and move on. Nobody seems to give a damn about any of these issues when you try to complain, but look at you like you are the problem.
Yeah, go somewhere else , if you can, don't waste your money just to feel bad and pissed off everytime when you try to get healthier.

VillaSport’s swim classes are exceptional. The instructors are patient, encouraging, and truly skilled at teaching both technique and confidence in the water. The lessons are well-structured, safe, and fun—kids learn fast and look forward to every session.

The facility is spotless, the staff is friendly, and every instructor takes the time to give personal attention. You can see real progress week after week. Highly recommend VillaSport to anyone looking for world-class swim training and a positive learning environment.

I applied twice to cancel my membership but they didn't cancel it both times. They are always trying to withdraw money. I had to cancel my card. I applied for cancellation on August 19th but I still receive an email today asking for payment. They deserve the lowest rating because their service is bad.

They have the best fitness center and pools I've ever seen, but even if you cancel your membership, they keep charging you. I had to cancel my credit card. The same thing happened to me, and it happened to two other friends. This is completely unethical. I wanted you to know this before you register. Be careful, even if they cancel your registration in person and a month has passed, they still charge you extra fees.

I signed up for a package of 8 private swimming classes at VillaSport to improve my skills in a one-on-one setting.

The staff told me a first-month membership discount for 190$ and 360$ for 4 and 8 private swiming classes. However, they never mentioned—verbally or in writing—that the classes were non-refundable at the time of my purchase. I only discovered this when I tried to cancel due to an upcoming treatment that leaves me with no time or energy to attend. When I called to explain, the person on the phone was dismissive, telling me to “check the website” for the policy. I haven’t used any of the 8 classes, yet they refused to refund me. The lack of transparency about the non-refunded policy, paired with the hyped-up discount, feels misleading. Their customer service showed no empathy for my situation, making me feel undervalued. I’m deeply disappointed and regret signing up.

If you’re considering VillaSport’s private swimming classes, ask every question upfront—their lack of clarity and poor customer service left me feeling taken advantage of.

I am writing to express my concern regarding an experience I had on Saturday, August 30. I logged into the online system and completed the required process. After receiving a confirmation number 3 days pass , I visited your location around 9:00 AM to present it, accompanied by my wife.

At the front desk, there were two employees present. One of them, an Asian male approximately 5'4" in height, informed us that we needed to pay an additional $40. While I am not opposed to paying fees that are part of the official process, this charge appeared to be a personal decision rather than a policy-based requirement. This employee did not verify online process or explain why the confirmation number, which had been received three days pass, was no longer valid.

I ultimately chose to pay the $40, but I believe the situation was handled unfairly. It is concerning when employees appear to make discretionary decisions without clearly identifying their role or authority, especially when it involves additional charges to customers.

Additionally, I have noticed during every time check in at the Gym that front desk staff often gather in conversation rather than promptly acknowledging customers entering or exiting. This creates an unwelcoming environment and reflects poorly on the professionalism of the organization.

I have not had issues in the past and generally appreciate your services, but I hope this matter will be reviewed to ensure fair treatment of customers and adherence to policy.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I would appreciate a response and clarification on your 3 days pass current policy regarding online confirmations and associated fees.

I’ve been really disappointed with VillaSport San Jose. The member service is terrible — several of us have complained about the limited steam room hours and dirty bathrooms. The front desk promised a supervisor would call us back, but no one ever did.

On top of that, the facility is always overcrowded. It’s hard to find parking during the weekdays, and it feels like they care more about packing in as many members as possible than actually providing good service to the ones they already have.

Overall, not worth the membership fees.

Great place for swimming and resistance training. The staff are friendly and do their best to keep everything clean and working well. When the swimsuit centrifuge broke down last week, it only took a couple of days for a new one to be installed. Very positively surprised. Some of the negative reviews made me hesitate at first, but so far, the few negative experiences were due to the behavior of some entitled patrons.

This place is supposed to be a luxury fitness center. and most amenities are top notch. However, I go there mainly to swim, and their indoor pool is very disappointing.
It stays warm only for 20% of the time, i.e 2 days out of 10 days.
Even YMCA keeps their pool warm for 70% of the time, and City Sports, 80% of the time.
And these facilities charge only 1/10th of what Villa Sports charges.
Some at the pool complain that the mgmt turns off the heater 80% of the time, and I find it hard to believe.
What is even worse is they have a heater that cannot perform well, and fails 80% of the time. And that's not acceptable for a luxury fitness center.
If I continue to go there, I will probably develop hypothermia, it's so chilly.
I have to seriously consider renewing my membership.

I’ve been a member at VillaSport San Jose and used the adult spa area for the first time. I was very disappointed to find a significant number of large ants in the spa. I notified staff right away, but no one came to address the issue for over 45 minutes. This reflects poorly on both the cleanliness of the facility and the attentiveness of the staff. For a high-end fitness club, I expect much better hygiene and service. No one seemed to give zero-f’s except the waitress at the bar who kept trying to get management’s attention.

Sent my experience to management but haven’t received feedback or any changes. Not that one feedback matters but if there are consistent feedback on the considers of the spa area, management should at least try to address the issue.

1) There lots of loud chit chats in the spa, in the steam room and sauna. People are talking loud as if they are at a party. I’ve and also witness, other members speaking up to ask people to lower their voice, this does not help but only encourage members to speak louder out of spite.

2) There are food being brought into the spa. This is both unsanitary and could cause sickness among members. They talk loud, eat and laugh, with no regards for others around them. It’s a party at others’ expense.
In the steam room, people are bringing in their personal care item and applying it in the steam room like body lotion/oil, hair mask and machine to machine their face. Some of these products have such an awful smell. Not everyone can tolerate the smell and where else can they go but out. Not only everyone in the steam room have to endure the smell but also their loud voice that filled the room, even against the team being dispersed into the room. I can hear them through the ear piece. After all this, they would wash it off in the steam room. Everyone in the steam room are bathe with the smell. Not a great experience, as you can imagine.

3) Spa chair reservation. Despite signs being placed, spa chairs are being reserved while the members are utilizing the steam/sauna or jacuzzi. People place their things and towels on top of the spot chair and no one is occupying it. Chairs aren’t no longer first come first serve, as it was. This is unfair. When members sit on the chairs that were reserved and not utilize, angry stares are being given to them or they are told to move because this is their chair. What an awkward situation.
The facility needs to be a major clean. Dust are collected on cabinets, mold are formed in the bath stalls, in both the family and women sides. I don’t know of the men’s side but I assume the same.

$500/ mo for my family and with 2 years after joining, VillaSport have declined and have lost control of their gym and have not made attempt to make any adjustments for the better.

Update:
Well after 10 months I can tell you that this place is extremely crowded (especially over summer). And also sometimes there is not enough towels and due to high usage the shower rooms are filthy.
Also, they removed the spa with facials and massage and replaced it with recovery rooms that we need to pay additionally to use. I loved their facial and they no longer offer that so I will be cancelling the membership.

Everything is fine but the pool and jaccuzzi stinks like chlorine. They need to tone it down or find another method to keep the pool sanitized. I had to throw away my new swimsuit after 5 times coming to the pool. Way to much bleach!

I have been a member since your grand opening, and the main reason I joined was for the indoor heated swimming pool. However, the so-called heated pool has now become an ice-cold pool! I have raised this issue multiple times, but nothing has changed. Today, I spoke to one of your staff members again about this problem, but instead of addressing members’ concerns, they simply said the water temperature is within the acceptable range. It’s winter now! With outdoor temperatures at 60°F, I feel like the water is even colder than outside.

VillaSport’s service has really been disappointing. In the summer, there were frequent towel shortages—I could deal with that by bringing my own. There were no hair dryers after a shower—I brought my own as well. But I cannot change the water temperature myself!

I am seriously considering whether to continue my membership with VillaSport.

Overall this gym is okay. Solid equipment and some really fun group fitness classes. The group fitness instructors are all amazing!

My main complaint is that considering how expensive it is, this place can be SO disgusting at times! There is always hair all over the shower and drains - the gym opens at 5AM and I’m convinced no one on the janitorial staff even touches the showers to remove hair/trash until the end of the day. By the time evening rolls around there is a mountain of hair clogging the drain in every single shower. The indoor hot tubs are also filthy, I tried relaxing in one and saw so much dirt and hair it made me sick to my stomach.
My husband also found a maggot inside one of the lockers and alerted the team and they said they would “take care of it” - who knows if they ever did.

I would really recommend the team here prioritize cleanliness a little more by tending to the showers more throughout the day and cleaning the indoor hot tubs more frequently.

This place needs to monitor the Family/Children locker room better!

There are women using and occupying the showers for FAMILY.

If children can’t go into the Women’s locker room, why is there women with no children/family with them, using the family locker room?!?

I have a fussy baby and need to keep things moving! I waited for the family shower stall for 25 -30 mins multiple times bc a woman, who should be using the Women’s locker room; is using the Family locker room.

I’ll start taking my child into the women’s locker room from now on.

—Edit—
The staff there are rude, especially the female manager, short with glasses. When I told her about the issue, she just smirked at me. Also, she never informed the women to use the Women’s locker room personally, or instructed the staff to inform the women to use the Women’s lockers room. She just walked away and didn’t give a shit and doesn’t do her job.
Have the staff patrol often and inform them personally, and not stay silent then they see women with no children in the Family locker room!

Especially the women who take the Aqua Athletics class need to be informed to use the Women’s Locker room personally by the staff.

I have been a member for a few months and used the gym not more than 20 times, unfortunately I don't have a good feedback at all. First of all, the employees of villa sport do not respect the privacy of customers by telling lies.
I left my shoes on one of locker and actually forgot the password and when I went to the front desk after week and asked, no one knew what happened to my sneakers, it was not returned to me. This is also from the responsibility of the employees !!!!
It takes 30 days to cancel the membership and this means that they charge for a whole month plus another 85 dollars and I don't know why?? For freezing, it is necessary to inform 30 days in advance that by paying a monthly amount, they will only freeze for a few months. It's really ridiculous how you can predict the next 30 days and ask for a freezer and cancel it. If someone wants to freeze and cancel, they must have encountered a problem that they need, and I don't know why they should be notified 30 days in advance, and why they should be charged other amounts for which there is no reason. As a customer, I have no positive opinion at all about joining villa sport and no recommend to others.

A bit pricey, yet worth it if you use it! I really like the outdoor pools, the men's lounge, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi (lounge, indoor, and outdoor). For me, I have knee and back issues so using the outdoor pools to swim 3-4 times a week and use steam room is great. Also, by using jacuzzi there and not heating mine in my pool and taking 3-4 showers a week there I'm saving $25-$30 per month in gas. I think the upkeep could be a bit better. For what they charge, there should never be shortage of small towels, or noisy swimsuit spinners. The lockers could be more secure. All that said, the $17,000 in body scan once per month adds value and it shows that while my weight is barely coming down, I've lost fat mass and gained muscle mass, so I know I'm heading in the right direction. Usually, a gym is stuffy and boring, yet this place is relaxing which is why it's an Athletic club and not a gym. Helps that it is really close to my home too.

Our family loves the pool here and enjoyed it so much this summer. We’re genuinely thankful for all the staff who bring us the comfort and fun experience. Stella, the aquatic representative, is so sweet and helpful. We will come again next summer! We love Villa sports! By the way, I’ve been a member here for over a year. Rachael was my personal trainer, and she is amazing! I also recommend the Pilates class because it just so worth it!

Filthy! Dirty showers, walls are covered in mold and brown gunk never washed, floor has black dirt between tiles, some shower stalls stink like sewage. Pools are cold and full of floating stuff like bandaids!!! Long hair is everywhere, expect to drag it on your feet in the shower and locker rooms.. Absolutely disgusting! Trees in the parking lot spit sap everywhere, good luck cleaning your car from it. Marihuana stink in the entry area and parking area all the time.

We like the facilities, especially the 4 pools that you can always find a spot. However, there are places to be improved:

1. loose on membership check. On June 22 afternoon around 2:30-3pm, a group of teenagers swarmed in without scanning their membership and ran into the outdoor pool. They threw football badly and leave very little space for little ones to swim. People are scared to be hit by the ball, and no one in the club (including the lifeguards onbaord) could step in to stop it.

2. water quality isn't good, comparing to the membership price.

3. awkard cafe hours: it's not open during at noon, when we do need to get something to eat.

I would give a 0 star if I can! I was really excited to join initially, but they make up rules out of thin air to take money from people. Very uncooperative staff, and the facility seems like a money-trap.

The club is great, clean and the activities are various and the coaches are very dynamic and knowledgeable.
However everything related to the management of the membership is nightmarish at best. It’s really difficult to close your account (Villa Sport doesn’t answer email / Phone call, and concierge are rarely available on site) and they charge you “ Early Inactivation of Membership Administrative fee “ of $85 while you clearly had an agreement. Then impossible to dispute the fee since no one answer the phone.

- I've found an USED PAD inside the women's shower. That was the mostly disgusting thing I've experienced in the club by now.
- By the end of the day, the bathroom doesn't have clean towels often and the shower area is absolutely stinky. I understand people can be nasty at times but cleaning should be constantly.
- There's a girl at the reception that absolutely thinks she has the right to roll her eyes at people who scan their entry code's in front of her; she rolls her eyes, take a deep breath and simply puts the little scan machine down, so no one can bother her scanning in front of her. Like???? Chill girl!!
- The fitness manager came to me to tell me to put my shoes on, yes I was on my socks,- totally safe and away from dumbbells - doing my training and minding my business in the functional fitness area. The thing is, the coaches work out themselves on socks in the same area all the time, people that are working out with the coaches are barefoot sometimes as well, several people do the same and I've never seen this guy going to those people to reinforce the rule. Several people stay on their phones forever while you're waiting for the machine and I've never seen this guy reinforcing cellphone rules. Why? Genuine question.
- I told that to the fitness manager and he smiled and said "thank you", totally ignoring, giving his back and walking away. He was not interested in listening. I understand that can be the rule and we all need to follow rules; but when you reinforce a useless rule (although I understand safety precautions, some exercises are best if done on grip socks), you should also be an exemple. When you're not an example and still want to reinforce a rule, you just end up pissing somebody off.
- The club has major issues, especially hygiene issues, that the management should be looking at, not at people who have done literally nothing to the Club's community wellbeing.

I feel like I'm walking into Chuck E Cheese every time I go there (unless it's early enough that the kids aren't there). It doesn't really feel like much of a gym . The only reason I joined was because of a piece of cardio equipment called the Jacob's Ladder.

At least it's clean. The staff seems nice.

The gym area is upstairs and a pretty boring turf especially when 80% of the cardio equipment is positioned to stare at a wall or something similar. I do a mix functional and traditional exercises, but God forbid it's my leg day and I want to incorporate some of those traditional leg/glute machines; they're always taken bc they have only 1 of even the most popular machines...ya know those machines where another normal gym would have 4 .

Yes, the amenities are nice: filtered water system, towel service, sauna, steam room, & hot tub. However, for the price you pay, they should have a salt water pool. Also, you would expect a higher caliber of food for purchase. I mean, we are in CA, so people are expected to be high maintenance when it comes to food. Allllll of their protein shakes contain whey or isolate...no plant protein available. Also, there aren't really any whole foods options. Lots of processed food.

Random- may I ask why any woman needs 4 towels to go into the spa area. Just saying. I don't judge, but like whyyyyyy .

I've been a member since Villa has opened. Everything here is good and of course some things could improve. One thing I want to highlight is a staff member by the name of Timor. He is part of a team that wears black shirts and always keeps the towels fresh and clean. Every time I see him working, he seems to be one of the very few who is always working hard to make sure members and visitors get what they need; always patient, kind, and very customer service focused. If you find that is something is missing, he'll do whatever it takes to help you find it. He always seems to get the job done along with some of the other team members (shout out to Marlon as well).

I am extremely dissatisfied with the star baby class experience for our 2-year-old daughter. Despite the freezing pool and inclement weather conditions, the slide door was inexplicably left open, making the entire session unbearable. It's unacceptable that the instructor had no explanation for this negligence. This kind of disregard for basic comfort and safety is completely unacceptable. I demand immediate action to rectify these issues and ensure a satisfactory experience for all participants.

This place is a total scam, I went here with my boyfriend and my daughter and bought a day pass, first of all when we spoke on the phone with one the front desk rep she gave us a price and we showed up and they bumped up the price. We were already there and my daughter was excited so we ended up buying the day pass. Then they fooled me into buying a membership which they said I could cancel within 7 days and get my money back if I’m not satisfied. I did cancel my membership within the 7 days but I never got my refund let alone as I spoke to them about cancelling they never mentioned the 85$ cancellation fee this was charged 10 days after I cancelled. I started my membership on the 3rd of September and it’s suppose to end on the 3rd of October and I cancelled on the 10th of September. But Ofcourse I see another charge on my card on the 4th of October for another month of membership when I called and asked they said, you have to give us 30 day notice before you cancel so we charged you for the 30 day. I said fine am I going to be able to use the gym for the next 30 days ? They said no I could only use it for 10 days because I cancelled on the 10th of September they received the cancellation in their system on the 14th so they charged me for 30days from sep 14th up until oct 14 this is a total scam, I had already paid a membership starting sept 3rd up until oct 3rd yet they still charged me from sep 14 up until October 14th again. This makes no sense at all. I’ve been trying to call them to get a better understanding of this but they won’t answer my calls. I got an email from one of the reps he said he cannot do anything about this. This place is a total scam I suggest you not go here I even took few friends who were considering becoming members but they won’t be signing up after this scam they played on me I hope they don’t charge me more. I’ve paid this place $250 on September 3rd 85$ on September 20th and they charged me another $150 on October 3rd. Do the math this is just within 1 month just for me and my daughter. Do not fall for this scam, let alone the people who works there are so rude and do not know any details they don’t explain any of their policy to you, the worst service I’ve ever had.

This place is such a nightmare from every aspect of the business. My partner and I were feeling unsatisfied with our typical gym because of long wait times to use the equipment we preferred(yay summer break) joined a premium gym like VillaSport hoping for a premium experience and received the exact opposite of that.

Strike one: when we called before joining I specifically asked if they had multiple smith machines, as my partner has a movement in her workout that she prioritizes and prefers to use the smith machine. This is basically the biggest reason why we joined VillaSport, was more quantity and more premium equipment. They have 1, exactly 1 smith machine.

Strike two: I'm barbell squatting with 315 on my back, I come up from one of my reps, pause at the top before my next, and a tall blonde makes eye contact with me through the mirror to ask me "is that your bag?" In reference to my gym bag that is on the platform with me. Not in the walkway or between the platforms, literally on the hard wood right in front of me. She then commands "all bags need to be in lockers, not on the gym floor" then walks away. This all took place while I had 315lbs on my back ‍ where is the professionalism?

Strike three: I recently twisted my ankle really badly while moving, I had my good friend who is a PT and a nurse look at it; yeah I shouldn't workout for the next 6-12 weeks, especially since I train powerlifting. I called their office to tell them I needed to pause my membership bc of medical reasons, they said I need a doctor's note for a medical freeze. A co-pay with my insurance to see a doctor is $150, I asked if a note from a PT/Nurse would work, they said nope, gotta be a doctor's note on their own letterhead. I looked online bc I figured okay, this has been enough of a headache, I'm just gonna cancel. Welp, it's an $85 charge to cancel + they're still gonna charge you for the month you're cancelling in.

Trust me, don't sign up here, it's not worth the hassle

Don't get fooled by the expensive membership of the gym and its advertisement. I doubt how they will be able to provide you, your car, and your kids a safe place when they don't even have basic security around their facility.

My car was hit and run in the VillaSport parking lot recently. The estimated repair cost is above $15,000, and my car is only one month old. It was in daylight and my car was perfectly parked in the center of its parking lot. When the accident happened, I went to ask one of their managers to take a look at the scene, and I asked him if he could check their videos. Later on, I was informed that there was no single video footage in the area. However, they have “camera in use” signs all around. I'm not trying to say that it's VillaSport’s fault that my car was hit and run, I was shocked at how this place lacks basic security. The gym advertises itself as “ the only place where fitness, family, and community all come together. In fact, they don't care. For an individual membership costs $150/m, this place could do better to provide the minimal peace of mind to its members when they come to the facility.

Furthermore, after left several messages to the management to check if they found any information about the accident, guess what? They just never return my call.

Onboarding is easy and fast , if you want to cancel it after a year, they take you on a ride and delay the cancellation as much as they can , there is a concierge team who is not available onsite and dont pick their phone and respond to emails in 3-5 days time and define same process over and over even after someone has pursued that process. I have been struggling for more than 6-8 months to switch membership to my wife and cancel but its been a futile effort.
