I had a really disappointing experience at VRV3’s aerial straps class. We were required to wrap our hands directly on the straps rather than using the bottom loops, and when I asked about it, the teacher told me I had to “earn that right.” For a beginners class, that felt unnecessary and unsafe — at other studios, beginners are always allowed to use the loops for comfort and protection.
Unfortunately, the wrapping caused a nerve issue in my hand, and my thumb has been tingling for days since the class. On top of that, the instructor gave very little guidance or technical correction. He mostly sat in the corner and sometimes demonstrated using his fingers as stand-ins for arms and legs instead of showing the actual movement.
Overall, the class felt unstructured and unsafe for beginners. I’ve taken aerial at multiple studios, and this was by far the least supportive experience.
Edit: Just to clarify, the issue isn’t the beginner level. I’ve been doing aerial for 3 years and perform regularly, and I’ve taken straps classes at several other studios. The issue wasn’t the level, but that we were required to wrap our wrists on the straps rather than use the loops. It might be helpful to note that in the class description so students know what to expect.

the individual subjective epiphenomenal experiences here are more than epistemic knowledge such as watching videos on how to pole; in my first two months i found intention and meaning in challenging my fears and had many instructors affirm in my own cognitive and physical abilities. i’m grateful in the powerful narratives they’ve strengthen and rewire; to the instructors (Melanie, Kyra, and Raywen!) for fostering this incomprehensible experience that language cannot relay; but art and abstract emotions can emerge from!

VRV3 is genuinely such a wonderful studio!! I was initially very intimidated coming in to pole classes as someone who hasn't be consistently active over the last few years, but the instructors and other classmates have been sooooo wonderful and encouraging in a way that keeps me motivated, active, and coming back week after week.
I would highly recommend this studio, even if you're just now getting back into a regular fitness routine 🌞

Pole dancing is no joke — but it’s a blast!”
As a guy taking pole classes, I can honestly say this has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s way more challenging than I expected. You’ll find muscles you didn’t know existed. The instructors are incredibly supportive and make every class feel welcoming and fun.
I came in thinking I’d just try it for fitness… now I’m out here learning spins and tricks. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a full-body workout, a confidence boost, and a ridiculously good time.

VRV3 is my favorite pole studio in San Francisco! The space is open, clean, & has generous small touches/amenities, which communicates a lot of care.
I really enjoy the structure of their pole classes/curriculum - specifically the numerous mixed level classes. Instructors are really good about encouraging people at all levels and making sure that everyone has something to work on. I can get shy or self-conscious about being under- or over-leveled, but VRV3 instructors have always met me where I'm at and encouraged me to train what suits me best. I think that characteristic of VRV3 instructors also speaks to the level of attention that instructors have for each student, and it makes me feel like my progress is being tracked, supported, and celebrated.
I also find that VRV3 instructors are really intentional about providing thorough warm ups that, depending on the students and/or what moves they teach in a given class, incorporate appropriate injury prevention/targeted stretches. For example, instructors will always ask the room if students have any injuries they should be aware of. If I share that my wrist is injured (which it is lol), then we'll spend a lot of time with warming up wrists. Similarly, if someone requests a trick that requires a lot of back flexibility, the warm up will skew towards warming up the back.
Lastly, the community is super friendly & supportive! It's common to cheer other students on in class (even if you don't really know them yet), and I've never been made to feel like I couldn't start chatting someone up if I wanted to.

I've been going to VRV3 on and off for a year, and can't say enough nice things about it. I take pole classes and have gotten a few friends to join me at VRV3.
1) For brand new Pole newbies:
I LOVE the downstairs space. The poles are from Platinum Stages. They spin well and aren't super tall so I felt so safe in that space (I fear heights). The beginner classes are so well designed and cover all of the key fundamentals. To this day I'm grateful for the early classes from Melanie and Raywen.
2) For veterans:
I'm still quite new but I see VRV3 offers different levels and specialty classes. I go to Kate's Sunday L4 classes religiously. We work on hand spring in different grips, interesting spin combos, and conditioning drills for moves for the next level.
Most of VRV3's instructors have vast experience in teaching, competing, and coaching. We are always asked about injuries during warmup so they can accommodate and monitor accordingly.
I jokingly say VRV3 is like a friend's house that has a huge living room with poles and unlimited ginger chews. It's indeed welcoming and friendly. I see people laugh and thrive here and it's a great feeling.

I left with both shoulders injured. This was my first Level 3 class after completing several Level 1 and 2 classes, where I had been told I was ready to advance. Unfortunately, the instructor, Vix, was openly dismissive and shamed me in front of the class for not being able to perform certain moves. She gave minimal instruction—showing each move once—then expected everyone to execute them perfectly. The entire class looked lost.
Despite feeling embarrassed multiple times, I pushed myself to keep up. Now, I have injuries in both shoulders that will take months to heal. I’m fit, I love working out, and dancing is my passion, so being unable to exercise for this long is devastating.
Please, be kind to your body. Trying something new should be encouraged, not ridiculed. I strongly recommend avoiding Vix’s class.

I’ve never been one to write a negative review, but my heart was broken. I’m a flight attendant who was on a 24 hour layover, so I decided to find a local studio to drop in to for open pole. Although I did come 30 minutes early, during the 30 minutes that I was waiting for open pole to start and following my scheduled time I was not spoken to by a single person (there was 7 people total in the room). A gentleman (who had been there for 10-15 minutes prior) ended up assisting me, but that was only people I was pointed at by what I was assume was an instructor? I did not fill out any forms, paperwork, wavers.. I was told where my shoes go and where the cubby’s were. I really wanted to find a studio away from home, because I work flights here in San Francisco often, but I cannot bring myself to return to such an unwelcoming environment. I left the studio 40 minutes into my session early, without a good bye the same way i entered without a hello. I really wanted to have a better experience but I have never felt so unwelcomed before.

I've been coming to vrv3 for years and I absolutely love it! The classes are amazing and the instructors do a great job spending time with each student and remembering what my level is from class to class. The vibes are super welcoming, everyone is very friendly and the community is amazing.

I love VRV3! This studio has a really cozy community feel, and the studio makes me feel like a member of their community - not a customer.
They have a great variety of classes, including aerial hoop, pole, straps, and silks. Everyone is really friendly and inclusive here.
The studio is on the smaller side but has all the amenities you need - bathroom, changing rooms, cubbies to store items. They even provide grip!

I love VRV3! The community is amazing and I’m happy to met so many amazing instructors and classmates over the years. My favorite classes are pole, especially Fluid and Flow and L3+ Tricks. The community is super supportive, welcoming, and fun! I specifically love Patricia’s and Vix’s classes!
My biggest gripe is that the classes do not tell you in advance how filled the class is (I.E it could say XX spots out of 10 filled) before you sign up. When classes have 8+ students, I feel so overwhelmed and personally would have not come. But, it’s just a shot in the dark how full the class might be. Please consider showing the client counts!!!

I can’t say enough good things about this studio!
I started about a month ago and have seen so much progress and growth just in this beginning! The staff are so friendly, quick to break the ice, and eager to know you that makes it so easy to feel a part of a wider community and comfortable even if you are new to dance or just curious about it in general without much background or experience. The positivity of the staff is contagious in class.
The learning experience has also been great. The whole class is excited when even one person gets a move down, and the instructors are great at providing support and feedback that in every class I feel like ive learned something new or have gotten much more confident with something from before.
I also loved that even as a newer student I could go to a showcase and see performances from students in other classes. Watching the performances really inspired me and really made me think “Wow I want to do that! This is really for me!”
Special shout-outs to:
Anna for being AMAZING, dedicated, a great teacher, and positive person
To Sarah at the front desk for being so easy to talk to and remembering me so quickly!
My encouragement to people curious in starting, unfortunately google reviews doesnt let me post videos to show the differences between my first class to the end of just this first month, so come see for yourself! You’ve found the right place to get started 😄

I have been taking classes at VRV3 since 2016. It helps that the studio added several new classes to the schedule across the years, so there is always something new to learn. All instructors are encouraging and highly knowledgeable, especially when it comes to finding individualized solutions for each student's abilities and movement background (or lack thereof). Wherever one is on their pole/aerial/dance/movement journey, VRV3 community can provide them with the support they need.

VRV3 has it all - pole tricks, dance classes, aerial equipment, and the best staff around. There are cubbies and changing rooms, as well as lots of small amenities that they have thought of - hair ties in the bathroom, etc.
I have never been someone who is good at "working out", but I have found an activity that keeps me moving, is always challenging, and that is FUN! The energy of the instructors gets me going even when I'm tired and stiff. I always leave in a better mood than when I came in!

Although I've loved all the pole studios I've been a part of, VRV3 has had by far the biggest variety of classes, and even better, the most supportive community. What a great experience - I started coming here with limited pole background and zero other aerial experience. The instructors and community are so helpful, warm, and welcoming. Each teacher has breakdowns of every move and progressions to work toward harder moves alongside helpful cueing and spotting . I’d highly recommend any class here.

Great teachers, meh scheduling policy. They will cancel your class without any notice to you until you're actually there. They will also not give you your credit back if you're late.
I'll still come since I love the teachers, but gone are the days I'll rave about them.

Only go if you are happy with total strangers touching your bare skin!!
If contact with other students, including touching their bare skin, is a mandatory pary of the class it would be great if it was mentioned in the class description.
I am not comfortable having a complete stranger touch my thighs and wouldn't have wasted my time if they said this was a part of the class. So innapropriate.

I took my first aerial straps with Joey and it was incredible! It made me realize how proper form and safety is so important with an aerial apparatus like straps is. I brought a few friends in for the teaser classes - and it was SO fun!!!!! I was weary of having people commit to a 1-2 hour class for their first time on the pole, and it just worked out perfectly :)
The instructors were super nice, the studio was very clean and organized. I enjoyed the energy and positivity the instructors brought as well.
We had a male friend join us and he was super worried about if he was going to be the only guy and his response afterward was "I didn't feel awkward at all"
A+!!! Some people I know are interested in coming back for longer classes - i know i am - so we'll be back!

I’ve been to both Lyra and Pole classes here and it’s always a great experience! All the instructors are fantastic and tailor the classes to your skill level and preferences. I’d highly recommend Myles’ Lyra classes.
If you’re unsure about taking a class here, do it! It’s super beginner friendly and fun even if you don’t usually like exercising.
The only downside is sometimes when the class is full, you need to share a hoop/pole which isn’t ideal, but this is fairly common in other studios I’ve been to too. I’d also love to see more intro pole classes in the evening! :)

Super supportive studio and community. Vrv3 does a great job of cultivating community; the instructors remember your name and skill level after just a couple of classes, and are open to customizing moves and material. I'm a fan of the mixed level classes; the instructors always introduce a progression for each move so you can focus on one level or challenge yourself by moving up in the progression.
