This place is good for HITT workouts. However, alot of the cardio equipment seems to be broken. But overall I still enjoy working out here.

If you just started bodybuilding this gym is nice. Mid-advanced bodybuilder, this gym is fine if you're not picky about machines. Powerlifters, I think you'll be good. Pretty good for Oly Weightlifters. You can use chalk and be loud so that's is a plus.
There is grass turf in the middle for sprints and drags, and a matted area for some grappling and boxing. The gym also has an 1000-lb club you can get your name on a dogtag to hang on the gym entrance wall.
The entrance has a self-serving shop where you can buy water, Gatorade, protein bars, etc.
Good size gym but can get packed. Lots of squat racks and free weights which is great. A good combination of Elekio bumper plates, steel Rogue plates, and Ivanko cylinder plates that range from 2.5lb to 55lbs. There are also Texas and Ohio power bars, Elekio oly bars, and some Deadlift bars.
The gym lacks in machines and machine quality. The cables and machines are cheap Matrix machines with a handful of Hammer Strength, which is typical. At least one Matrix machine will be broken, and machines lack in variety with 1-2 of the same machine. Some notable machines include one glute drive machine, one Smith machine, a weighted neck machine, two Pit Shark machines, one tibialis raise. This gym does not have any stair masters. It does not have a seated hamstring machine. There's one standing calf machine and one seated calf machine.
If you are a mature adult, do not come here on the weekends or after COB unless you want to get annoyed at boots. Chow time is also busy but manageable.
Men's bathroom only has two stalls, sometimes a toilet is broken and you cannot use the toilets, and the locker room can get cramped. There might be a boot or three just sitting there on the bench for who-knows-what.
The gym is outfitted with evaporative coolers and does not cool down in the summer.
The staff is super nice and the regulars are very helpful. It's a welcoming gym you should look forward to going to everyday.
The only cons are the machines, they aren't any diffrerent than a cheap commercial gym. This gym would be unbeatable if they replaced the Matrix machines with something like Cybex or Atlantis, had air conditioning (trust me, 29 gets hot), and a larger bathroom.

Always great customer service! Great place to block everyone out and work out! Wasn't really a big fan of heavy metal. But once I hear it, it gets me pumped while I'm working out.

THIS place is a gym. No frills. Not your boujee-health-spa-Lifetime-Fitness-like gym. So donβt expect great air conditioning, state of the art machines, or fancy accommodations. But this gym has everything you need to put the work in.
I love the abundance of areas to do workout circuits for more functional workouts. It can be difficult to get access to free weights or machines, but just be flexible and improvise. You can get your workout in, no matter what, you just gotta be flexible with your workout routine.
This is my favorite gym on base and one of my favorite gyms overall. It has a certain atmosphere that really motivates you to get through your workoutsβ¦but maybe thatβs also the musty feeling and heat just from being in Twentynine Palms. π

Iβd pick west and east over this gym any day. Yes, it has ALMOST every machine knownβ¦ but whatβs the point if they canβt keep up with them and clean or fix the damn thingsβ¦ thereβs at least 15+ squats racks and 5 benchesβ¦ two dumbbell racks and 4-6 cable machines. If I was here for peak Covid-19 this would be that viruses god damn field day. Staff is incredibly rude when brought up the machine upkeep and blow you off about it, tells you to βjust workout on a different machineβ instead of getting anyone to fix the thing or put at least a notice that theyβre tracking on the broken thingsβ¦
Humidity and musk is going to come regardless of a place like this so I suppose there isnβt a point in trying. Just keep this in mind when you attend.
P.S. so many School House Marines attend here, so 9/10 youβll be lucky to hold a 40-60lb dumbbell. My suggestion? Lift heavierβ¦ but regardless them knowing this, they should get one to two more dumbbell racks for this reason alone.. not have 15+ squat racks that are empty 75% out of the week

It's the newest gym built here so far, and it was built after the park. It has an open space feel in spite of the gym getting super busy at times. It has weights, benches, machines, treadmills, a shooting simulator, open grass areas for various things, and ellipticals. They have a mat to the corner. This gym has a decent amount of workout equipment plus weekly challenges and wight lifting competitions in the gym. I believe they have classes there as well. The only thing this place lacks is parking, a sauna, steam room, workout equipment that feels like gaming, and possibly a helix lateral machine. There isn't a lot for the men's bathroom, and there is way more guys ratio wise than girls. So if you're a female and not used to that, then I would suggest using the West Gym or Community Center to work out. Less crowded and less heavy lifters if you're more cardio and light equipment focused. This used to be an old warehouse, and they've kept some of the structural integrity. I'm surprised they did not make this a two story gym with how high the ceilings are. I like the gym overall. It has the machines I need to work out, additional gear/accessories to rent free if you need, plus staff is friendly and will help you if you ask.π

I was initially undecided on what what gym I should go to while at 29 palms. I went to this gym and I was amazed at the operating hours for this gym. More Marine Corps gyms need to follow suit to what they are doing here. The gym is huge and has every piece of equipment that you can ever need.

Best gym in the Marine Corps! It has all the typical amenities, cardio equipment, dumbbells, squat racks for days, cables, etc. But my favorite part is the strongman equipment! No one ever uses it! They have atlas stones, yokes, logs, and axle bars! When it is busy the turf and squat barbell areas are you're best bet. The cables and dumbbells will be unavailable.

Great equipment but the hours during for COVID 19 are ridiculous. I donβt know a single person who can get a good workout in 50 minutes especially for people who like to lift. Gyms off the base have way better hours and no limits on how long you are βallowedβ to work out for so I think Iβm going to take my gym workouts elsewhere
