My kids have always been very active, but I struggled to find a sport where they would listen to the coach and learn discipline. We first tried jiu-jitsu, but the one-hour classes were too long for their attention span, and they quickly lost interest. I was looking for a place where they could feel centered and truly enjoy learning.
When I called Yamashita Karate, I explained everything to Sensei Eric, and he was incredibly polite and understanding. He suggested that my kids come for their first class just to see if they liked it. The classes are only 30 minutes, twice a week , the perfect amount of time for them. I can’t express how thankful I am for Sensei Eric’s kind and professional approach. He has earned my kids’ respect, and now they listen, focus, and can’t wait for the next class!
He also talked to them about stranger danger, which was so helpful , they really understood how important it is to be aware of their surroundings. Now they’re having classes with Sensei Emily, and they absolutely love her! She shows them so much love, patience, and encouragement every step of the way.

We are beyond grateful for Temecula Yamashita! Every Sensei here is truly exceptional—kind, supportive, patient, and deeply knowledgeable. The atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive, and you can feel how much they care about each and every student.

My 7-year-old daughter absolutely loves coming here. She asks to go every single day! The instructors know exactly how to connect with her, motivate her, and help her grow in confidence. It’s rare to find a place that understands and embraces neurodiverse kids the way they do.

I can't say enough great things about Yamashita Martial Arts! My kids have been attending for a little over a year now, and it has truly been a life-changing experience for our entire family. Our daughter has attended Yamashita Martial Arts for the past two years. She absolutely loved beginning her karate journey here. The teachers have such enthusiasm to teach while also keeping the firm discipline to master the art of karate. I would highly recommend Yamashita Martial Arts for traditional Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate.

My wife and I cannot say enough great things about this dojo! We are new to martial arts and were looking for an additional activity for our 9 year old son. He is in soccer and dance and I thought adding this to his life would round him out. He absolutely loves it! It is his favorite thing to do! And I think part of it is Sensei Kelly, Sensei Tim, Sensei Eric, and Sensei Karen. You hope at least one of your kids teachers will be great but we lucked out with all 4! They love the kids! They are great with them! We just wish we found them sooner.

We love this place! Our daughter has been taking karate lessons here for a few years now. We can’t say enough good things about it. The instructors are amazing. Our daughter has never been more focused and determined. And most of all happy. She started at 6 years old. She is now 8. We have tried a few studios in the area. This one I highly recommend.

My son and I came here a year ago looking to grow our skills in the martial arts. Renshi Kelly, Shihan Tim and everyone at this studio are doing just that. The studio exudes a family atmosphere, and we are so blessed to be here. This is our "forever home" for karate.

I was always told of the energy here and when Autumn my little Blk belt and I walked in we both looked at each other because we felt it. We both felt love and welcomed when we met with Sheehan Kelly and her family after so many yrs of not seeing them. I'm so glad Autumn wanted to continue to further her Karate goals here. Im so honered that Master Yamashita has such a diverse and loving family throughtout the valley and especially here at Yamashita Temecula. We are home!
