100 stars!! I have been looking for a studio like this! This place is not just asana, it’s yoga, all limbs. Rob is an absolute gem of a person and teacher. The energy and vibes in class are amazing! If you want yoga and not gym asana, this is the place!

I agreed to live in Carlsbad for this studio, no cap. I finally found a place that practiced yoga as a way of life, as a way to connect with something larger than life. My body, mind, and soul have been stretched beyond what I ever imagined possible. My friends and I have the best time chatting after class about the visions and journey we experienced!! So entertaining. Sound healing, yoga nidra, and dharma classes are so HEALING. Plus, I can now hold a headstand for 5 minutes! What else can you say about a place you now call home? It’s love. It’s worth it.

This is the place to go if you're looking for a spiritual community of advanced practitioners to learn from and and connect with. They have an awesome new student deal of unlimited classes for a week that costs less than two classes. And you WILL want to try their whole schedule because the teachers here are GREAT! I've practiced all over the world in the last 15 years and this studio is the real deal with a depth and authenticity of practice that's hard to find. I'm so grateful to have found it!

Trevor is an outstanding yoga instructor. His class is truly the best I’ve ever attended—a holistic approach to wellness that nurtures both body and mind. He leads with expertise, creating a space that is both grounding and uplifting. His voice carries beautifully through chants and songs, enhancing the experience, and his breathwork techniques are incredibly effective. I always leave feeling centered, relaxed, and ready to take on the day with a renewed sense of calm. Discovering this class through ClassPass was a stroke of luck, and now I can’t imagine missing a Saturday. Highly recommend!

Such a wonderful studio to practice! As an out of towner I try to take classes whenever we visit. Chloe radiates warmth in her instruction and cues and truly made me feel like home. By the end of class I felt like I was leaving a good friend's home, hugs included! I also love Zoe's classes, she encouraged me to try an inversion for the first time and I did it! The students are just as welcoming as the instructors. Yoga on State is everything I hope to find in a yoga center and I can't wait to be back!

My first ever yoga class was a few months ago at YoS. I didn’t know anything about practicing and was really nervous. I was warmly welcomed to my first class by Zöe. Her instruction was great and before it was over I knew I wanted to come back. Since then I’ve had many fantastic classes with Rob, Hannah, Shab, and Trevor. Everyone at YoS is fantastic, both students and teachers. Can’t recommend them enough!

This studio is truly magic and has heightened my passion for yoga beyond I could know. Growing up my mom had taken me to many studios with her all over from Oceanside to Encinitas but I can’t say any compare to Yoga on State. It has such a strong sense of community with incredible instructors and people bringing so much positive energy to the space. Rob is an amazing teacher and I have never walked out of his class not learning something and feeling amazing. It is truly the best environment I’ve seen in a studio filled with kindness, patience, love for one another, and incredible yoga. I highly recommend:)

Yoga on State got me into yoga and since moving to LA I can say it’s the best studio I’ve ever been to. The owner Rob is the real deal and it’s reflected in the studio he runs along with his fellow yogis.
To be honest, sometimes I can be a little put off by Yoga practioners. It’s like they’re trying to be really authentic at you and it can be off putting, especially when it feels put on.
That’s not the case here, the instructors are all very devoted to their practice but at the same time don’t take themselves too seriously. It’s good to have that separation, it makes it easy to ask for guidance and makes for a more collaborative experience; unlike other spots where wellness drill sergeants will come down on you if you’re not flexing every muscle in your body while you’re in an inversion — LA man…
That being said, in only a couple months I went from knowing nothing to performing advanced variations. I don’t know what it is about this place but it really brings out the best in people. It’s very exciting to practice here!
I highly highly highly recommend one of their Dharma classes. They have a wide variety of classes, but Dharma is really the heart of this studio.

I have been to yoga studios all over the world and for many reasons, this place is magic. I took my first class here over a year ago and the experience has stuck with me ever since. So much so that I wanted to share it with my mom. Rob brings a level of authenticity to his practice that I haven’t felt since India. You can tell he genuinely wants to share everything he has learned with his students, on and off the mat. He made my mother (a first-time, very reluctant student) feel so welcome and his chanting truly struck a chord in her. If I didn’t live over an hour away this studio would be my home, no question. Can’t wait to try some of the other offerings held in this beautiful space.

I recently joined yoga on state - a studio that offers classes for all levels and styles, and I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed. The studio had a welcoming and calming atmosphere, with plenty of natural light and soothing decor.
One of the things I appreciated most about this studio was the variety of classes offered. There were classes for beginners, as well as more advanced classes for experienced yogis looking for a deeper practice besides the pose. In addition, there were classes in various styles of yoga, including Vinyasa, Hatha, Ayurveda and Yin. This allowed me to choose a class that best fit my level and style preferences.
The instructors were all incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. They took the time to make sure that each student was comfortable and understood the poses, while also challenging us to push ourselves further. I appreciated that they offered modifications for different levels, allowing me to adjust the class to my own abilities.
The studio is well-equipped, with plenty props, blocks, blankets and straps available for use. The classes were always well-organized and started on time, allowing me to easily plan my schedule around them.
Overall, I would highly recommend this yoga studio to anyone looking for a welcoming and inclusive CLEAN environment to practice yoga. With classes for all levels and styles, as well as knowledgeable instructors and a well-equipped space, this studio truly stands out as one of the best in Carlsbad!

There are many great yoga studios in San Diego county, but Yoga on State (YoS) is unique because of the care, commitment, and support of every single one of the instructors as well as the owner, Rob. YoS has become a pillar to the lives of so many, ranging from those in our community to all those visiting. More than that, YoS is sensitive to the diversity of experiences (background, socio-economic status, etc.) in our community, and the challenges people are working through. In response, YoS provides discounted pricing for groups, such as students. They also offer a donation-based class once a month where all funds are donated to a local organization, shelter, or cause. The diversity of classes offered as well as the variety in class schedule is also a testament to the studio's dedication to making this practice accessible. You will also meet thoughtful and kind practitioners too!
Although I am new to this practice, I've come to learn that yoga invites both a sense of strength, but also a sense of vulnerability. I feel incredibly grateful to experience both in a studio that is genuine, sensitive, and understanding. The instructors are all excellent teachers and guides, and will 100% make you laugh along the way–I respect and admire them all!
This is a long-winded way of saying, this place is a gem.

When my previous studio closed I was searching for a new yoga studio. After my first class at Yoga on State, I knew I found my new yoga home. The teachers are all well trained, and the welcoming environment is contagious. I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years, but brought a friend who was newer to yoga. They embrace both experienced and newer students with the same grace. I LOVE this studio.

I’ve been coming to yoga on state street for over a year now and everytime I go to a class it’s a different and unique experience. I find my strengths and my weakness in the class but no matter what I always feel safe and loved and exactly where I need to be. I take what I learn in the class whether it be breathing, moving, resting, discovering new moves I thought may be impossible. I feel now in my life that I can overcome my fears, push my body and my mind in places I’ve never gone before. I am eternally grateful for Rob, rusty and all the wonderful teachers that challenge me there and help me honor myself and my body. When I do the work I find those quiet spaces where I receive all the answers I need.

Yoga on State is a welcoming and loving community. At YoS I am one among practitioners of all ages and levels, supported by kind and talented teachers who challenge, nurture, and inspire. The owner, Rob, is a master Yogi who fosters this lovely family vibe in his studio and who skillfully tailors every class on the fly, depending on our needs. When I brought up some lumbar discomfort, Rob guided me through a series on the wall ropes that left my back feeling better than it had in a long time (even better than PT!). When I mentioned that I was working on leg balance, he taught me some strategies that I have been able to practice at home to really begin to improve. Through the various Vinyasa and Hatha classes offered at YoS, I have made so much progress on my postures and have grown to love flowing with my breath. The class that has most moved me (because there’s something for everyone at YoS) has been Dharma Yoga, with its beautiful combination of meditation, visualization, breathwork, and flow. I’ve left Rob’s Dharma and Nidra classes feeling whole and healed, the soothing tones he plays on his shruti box vibrating in my consciousness. YoS for me has been more than a studio where I do Yoga poses. It’s where I come to dive deep, to move beyond ego toward holistic transformation, guided by some amazing souls. I’ve traveled extensively and have been to many Yoga studios, and I’m so grateful that I found YoS. This is the place that draws me back to CA for stretches at a time. Simply put, there’s no space better than Yoga on State.

I moved to North County in January and tried out a few different yoga studios, but none were a great fit until I tried Yoga on State and knew I had found my place. Every instructor has been amazing, the space is very relaxing, and the authenticity and genuine kindness of everyone I've met has made me feel instantly like I belong. I've loved doing vinyasa, which I've done for years, but also trying new things like dharma and the inversions class. In my opinion, you won't find a better place to work on your holistic yoga practice.

Yoga on State is such a beautiful place to practice yoga. The community is really welcoming and the space has positive energy for sure. The first time I came, I felt like I belonged there and was a regular. The owner, Rob is so kind and an awesome teacher. His classes are very balanced and in tune with the seasons, the time of day, and the energy of the people in the class--essentially, intuitive to what's needed! There's a good mix of teachers with different styles, and each is talented and caring, and express that in unique ways. I've taken classes from several different teachers and enjoy all of them. You can find classes for every yoga need here--whether you want to ground and relax or be more active and challenge yourself. Once I spent a week here, there was no reason to look further at other studios. I definitely recommend checking it out!

I attended a yoga class at Yoga on State in late June 2021. I was from out of town, and the studio staff were extremely welcoming. I was impressed by the professionalism and the extensive knowledge of the instructor; the directives provided were clear and insightful. The environment was clean, aesthetically pleasing, and calming. I left the class feeling completely rejuvenated, both physically and mentally. I especially appreciated the singing bowls that the instructor used near the end of the class. I highly recommend Yoga on State.

Focus the body - Sharpen the mind
This is a truly special studio. I've done countless yoga classes throughout the years, tried several types of yoga techniques, and even learned many poses along the way. I have a solid meditation regiment and have even walked though fire with the great Tony Robbins. Nothing comes even close to what I experienced attending classes at Rob Mendez's Yoga on State in Carlsbad California. I walked in with zero expectations and was quickly transported to another realm. I was fully immersed into the collective consciousness. I actually saw the colors of my chakras scintillating behind closed eyes. My third eye was cleansed, scrubbed, and opened anew. I learned in those moments what they mean when they say, "it's not about the poses." This is true yoga. These classes go deep into your core and produce a joy that is beyond dimension.
I spent two weeks while on vacation attending classes daily. I remember being so moved that I thought I might not even be able to return home without continuing with Dharma Yoga. I need classes like this in my life. This work is essential for the soul, body, and mind. I can't recommend this enough. I tried several different classes while I was there and my only regret was that I wasn't able to try them all. These classes have incredible instructors who are able to clearly articulate and walk you though each step with grace and poise whether you're a novice or an expert. I'm sure every single class offers a uniquely beautiful experience in its own way. This will transform you!!! ❤️🙏🙇

This place feels so good to me, the energy it carries, a sanctuary for the soul and what’s great is that they offer all kinds of yoga classes/modalities for everyone which is something I appreciate since we all need different things at different times as ever changing vessels that we are, and all yoga practices served different benefits and medicine for the mind, body and soul.
Kirtan and Dharma got to be my favorites, all teachers are great and Rob the owner is a truly a beautiful human and his heart is pure. Grateful for a place like this in our community.

I’ll start with that I’ve probably gone to every yoga studio in the North County. While I’ve had good experiences at many there’s just really something special about Yoga on State. For me a good yoga studio is one that has a relaxed setting with a range of classes, amazing instruction and an emphasis on ways to help ease stress. Yoga on State checks of all those boxes. Come take a class and you’ll see.
