Ironically, I was inspired to write this lackluster review by a sign at the front desk, asking people to write a good online review.

First, I'll highlight the positives. This is a decent sized gym with some nice ameities: basketball court, exercise classroom, pool, hot tub, sauna, a good array of free weights, Nauitilis type machines, and most of the strength training equipment you would want, as well as the usual buffett of cardio machines.

Unfortunately, the gym is severely mared by exceptionally poor maintenance. I recently visited a Planet Fitness gym and the contrast to this 24 hour fitness was moritifying. The Planet Fitness gym had every crevice of the gym clean, it smelled nice, I could eat off the locker room floors, and everything was perfectly stocked. The equipment was all in like new condition.

Contrast that to 24 hour fitness. Here's what I'm sure is an incomplete list of issues:
- showers don't drain properly and have constant pools of water on the floor
- shower curtains are full of mold (what is it, $50 bucks to replace all the shower curtains? come on)
- 3 in 4 soap dispensers, spray bottles, hand sanizers, and paper towel dispensers are empty at any given time throughout the gym
- lockers and locker room floors are always dirty and wet.
- urinals have pee all over the floor and look like they haven't been cleaned for days
- much of the gym equipment is dirty and in various states of disrepair
- trashcans frequently overflow with trash

I had a friend say they seemed to get sick every time they used the sauna there. That's not terribly surprising.

Despite the gym being fairly large, during peak hours it can be challenging to get access to the equipment you want. In fairness, this is common at many gyms, espcially lower priced gyms.

And let's not forgot the name itself which has become a running joke. The gym has restricted hours that I wouldn't even call extended hours, much less 24 hours.

I skimmed through some of the other reviews and see that many have similar complaints, followed up with a response from 24 hour fitness saying that they take the concerns seriously. But obviously they do not because the problems persist with no change in actions - no response would be less insulting.

The front desk's request to give a positve online rating to this gym was so insulting, I've now endured another insult by spending my time writing this review. If the gym really wants positive reviews, they should create a gym where it looks like the owners actaully care about it. If these issues get resolved, I'm more than happy to come on here and leave a positive reivew. Until then, I'm left debating whether 2 stars was too generouos.

A good gym with all of the equipment but it really needs to be cleaner. The changing rooms are disgusting and the whole place could do with a good deep clean. Shower curtains cost next to nothing and these are all covered in mold and god knows what else.

The gym is terrific because we have a Medicare-sponsored membership. However, we were incorrectly advised by them that our insurance (through Renew Fit and Silver Sneakers) offered an additional $500 annual benefit. Neither offer that and it took an enormous effort to determine this and to cancel the personal training package. Buyer beware. Confirm first before purchasing on their word.

I use this gym several times a week and it has everything you need to stay in shape. There are numerous weight machines and all of the equipment you need to get a good workout in even when it's busy.

Aside from this, they have a pool, a yoga studio and other extras. I love the full size basketball court, often there are pick up basketball games going. They have basketballs to check out, but as any hooper knows, it's best to bring your own ball. Nonetheless theirs are serviceable in case you forget to bring one.

My trainer is top notch and with his help I've slimmed down from being far too overweight and am building muscle mass. The environment is friendly and welcoming and it feels good to be there. I'm a bit older and was knew to the gym, not once did I feel judged or intimidated for being more of a bookish type. I settled right in during my first week there.

The staff are great! They are friendly, authentic and helpful. The membership is super affordable and I was surprised that I was also able to afford a trainer to tailor my work out to my specific needs, I couldn't ask for more.

This gym has everything you could want at a reasonable price. There’s something for everyone: indoor basketball court, racks, weights, machines, hot tub/pool, sauna and classes. The staff is really friendly and the community is positive. My one complaint is I wish there were more classes in the early morning/late evening to accommodate a 9-5 work schedule, but it’s not enough of a complaint to knock my review down to 4 stars. Overall, my husband and I love 24 hour fitness!

Wow! Was I surprised when I walked into this 24-hour fitness. There are some 24 hour fitness that are kind of gross not going to lie, where the showers are not cleaned and wow I was so pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't get grossed out in the shower or the swimming pool. Which is what I mostly do. The fitness area when you walk in, looks so clean and organized as well. And this place is never crowded! A hidden gem.. The staff was incredible too,, especially Sadie. She helped me get set up on my first day here. This location lives up to boulders image! Won't disappoint.

The sauna here is probably the biggest sell. Beyond that, I enjoyed the people and the gym is big enough that you can get a solid workout in.

I am giving 2 stars because the place is a bit of a mess. I paused my membership with them and then was charged continually. I called to see why and they had said they didn’t have a record of me pausing my membership.

I won’t go into it much more, they weren’t willing to refund me. It was frustrating and when I asked what I should’ve done better they told me to do exactly what I did. I’d say avoid this place and go to crunch instead.

This has been my home gym for some time; while the front desk staff is very friendly/likable, the overall management of the gym is well below average (as evidenced by the low Google review score). Specifically:

1) the gym is an absolute mess, in particular the men's locker room. Trash always overflowing, dirty floors, dirty lockers, filthy shower areas. The floors are so poorly maintained that I've slipped & fallen at least 5 times in the past year. Showers regularly breakdown. There was once a foot long stretch of toilet paper in the steam room "for 3 days"! Etc etc

2) General Maintenance: as mentioned, showers go out regularly. Steam room use to be excellent however for some time now, at best it's a luke warm room that I don't even break a sweat in.

3) The club routinely allows men to use the pool & hot tub solely in there underwear. Maybe it's just me, but i don't want to get into the hot tub with someone who's using the underwear they've been wearing all day for a swimsuit for obvious reason. Secondly, there are women & children in these areas who I'm sure don't need to see whats revealed under the circumstances.

4) Lack of Responsiveness: I've told the front desk of my concerns countless times for several months and they've done absolutely nothing.

I truly wish this club were like other 24hr locations specifically Lafayette, where the clubs are clean & well-managed. Unfortunately, 24hr Boulder are as there reviews say they are...very below average.

As it stands, they are forcing me to find a new Gym where customers matter.

UPDATED: its been a few months since i posted this - still no change! In fact, its worse. The place is filthy! Honestly, i dont think they even try anymore!

I've been member for years. I work out everyday. Dorian, Charolette, and Mia make the atmosphere better with their customer service, work ethic, kindness, and dedication—One BRIGHT star is for them.

My review is in hopes to call attention to both health concerns and professional behavioral improvements needed with specific management/leadership at the facility.

1st concern: a few weeks ago, my body was injured.I got a chemical burn to my body from the ribs down from a soak in the jacuzzi. That burn took about 2 weeks to heal from with treatment and this injury affected all areas of my life including lost work. At the time of the incident, several staff were concerned, if not shocked, by how red my body was.

2nd concern: kindness goes far; however, those working did not know where to find an incident report and failed to provide the GM timely details of the incident. I had to follow up myself after days of not hearing from anyone with an expected apology, reassurances and a course of action from my injuries. Staff rightfully closed the jacuzzi after seeing my bright red legs and feet so no others would be harmed.
3rd concern: several employees, including the GM, admitted that staff KNEW that the chemicals were off that day. No one was supposed to be in the water, nor were there signs, signals or anything indicating the jacuzzi was closed.

Because of this, I was burned, I lost time and money, my swimwear was completely bleached out and the burns were painful. It took 2 weeks to heal with treatment. The damage to my body impacted my life.

4th concern: all follow through from this incident was initiated by me. The lack of proactive leadership from management, and a tone of indifference for the GM was felt.

5th concern: I witness and feel frustrated seeing a lot of lengthy personal socializing and reputation control at the expense of needed improvements by management. No time to follow up with my concerns because time is eaten up with personal connections and workouts.

I also recognize the GM's name, along with several employees and close friends to the GM as the names behind the newest, 5 star reviews on Google Maps—reviews for their own business. This is not only bad form, but manipulative, and goes against Google Maps review platform rules. Federal Trade Commission also frown about such practices. The idea is to have REAL customers share their REAL experiences. That way, the reviews can help other people decide if they want to use the business.

I reached out the regional operations manager, Derrick, who used to be the GM there. Derrick did and continues to do an outstanding job providing me the customer service I needed in lieu of what I needed to hear from the acting Boulder Manager. Derrick made reassurances that this sort of problem will be fixed and the spa area maintained with his crew, he actively listened, talked about specifics actions to improve the facility and make it safer for me moving forward. He made me feel valued, expressed that a formal apology and tangible offers to make it right were due. A bright star for his proactive customer service and leadership.

Custodial staff and Membership also checked in with me to see how I was doing—Michael, Charolette, thank you!
Dorian—always, thank you!
Yesterday, corporate made a small offer to me for the incident and my losses. My concerns are still very much at the front of my mind, and the impacts remain. Improvements to the facility, proactively making things right, and higher level of professionalism are needed.

Be very cautious with this gym.

During my free trial, the staff told me whatever I wanted to hear to get me to sign up—including that there was no commitment and I could cancel anytime. I later found out I had unknowingly been signed into a year-long contract, and the only way out is to pay an absurd cancellation fee. When I reached out for help, both the manager and the rest of the staff refused to do anything about it.

As for the facilities, they’re in terrible shape. The sauna and steam room seem like they haven’t been cleaned in ages—they smell bad, the floors are filthy, and the equipment throughout the gym is often sticky, dirty, and in poor condition.

My friends have had wallets, keys, and other items stolen, which they received no help from the staff as well.

Save yourself the trouble and choose literally any other gym.

This place is filthy. The sauna and steam room reek and clearly haven’t been cleaned in ages. The floors are gross, the equipment is sticky, and some of it is literally falling apart. It’s honestly embarrassing how much worse this specific 24 hour fitness is compared to others around the country.

On top of that, the business itself is shady. During the free trial, the staff straight-up lied to me—telling me there was no commitment and that I could cancel anytime. In reality, I was signed into a year-long contract without realizing it, and now they want an outrageous fee to cancel. The manager is unhelpful, and the rest of the staff can’t seem to do anything or care.

The manager is completely useless and refuses to help, and the rest of the staff couldn’t care less.

The Reason I have been loyal to 24 Hour Fitness since moving from Denver to Boulder in 2020 all comes down to their training. I have trained with all their Trainers and they are top-notch in offering consistency and results whatever your goals might be. Particularly I will say that Chelsea, Wilson, Dylan H, and Christian have all been pivotal in my health journey and overall quality of life. Anytime there's been an issue, ie card declining, Dorian or Anthony have always been prompt to get the matter fixed. Same being said for machine maintenance and overall cleanliness, which has improved immensely in the past year or so.

Toilet paper all over the bathroom floor. Even the gym itself is grimey. Hey 24 Hour Fitness, since you are definitely NOT 24 hours maybe hire a cleaning service to come in and deep clean the whole place, top to bottom to give you a perfectly clean environment to begin with. And then write out cleaning side duties and maybe hire an overnight employee to just do janitorial stuff. VERY disappointed. Get it together.

I like working out here, but it’s near impossible to get help in the morning when you want to buy something. The front desk is frequently left vacant and I’ll stand around over 5 minutes before I just give up and leave. I work out here before work and I can’t wait around until someone sees me.

I just moved to Boulder and am trying out different gyms. I signed up for the 3 day trial and upon arriving, the front desk sales associate John told me I am not allowed to use it without a Boulder drivers license ID. He was extremely rude and said I was trying to start an argument but I was genuinely just asking questions. I showed him a document with my current address and he said that’s not acceptable. He said the 3 day free trial does not exist even though it’s offered online and you can sign up for it and the computer at the gym also has my information stored from the signup. He said he does not know why it’s offered online and that I can buy a pass to workout. That defeats the purpose of the online trial. I asked if I can have the name of a manager that I can speak to this week about this and he said he would not provide me a name. I know he may be having a bad day but I did not appreciate it him saying that I was trying to start an argument when I was genuinely just trying to ask questions about this.

I wish it were cleaner... nice gym and a people have mentioned not too many choices. how many reviews about your place being dirty do you need to get before you clean your gym... what is the challenge? Workers don't want to clean? Just want to sit behind the desk? I use several 24s in different states...unfortunately it's pretty common to have dirty 24hr places.

Editing my review from 1 to 3 stars as they have greatly improved the cleanliness. Still needs work, but it is much better than 2 months ago. “Disgusting cleanliness. Arrived today to find no toilet paper in the bathroom stall, urinal smells horrible like urine, no soap in the shower, garbage all over the locker room. It’s not bad, it’s horrible and hard to imagine this level of filth in a large facility like this. They need to improve 300% just be decent cleanliness. So gross!”

I signed up two weeks ago and I was told the base membership had a $80 initiation fee but the next one up which was $15 per month did not have an initiation fee. Turns out there is still a $60 annual fee I was not informed about. I never would have signed up if I would have known about this. I was told the ONLY charge I would have is that $15 per month. That $60 is an additional 4 months worth of cost I wasn’t expecting. Then I called to explain that when I signed up I wasn’t told about this and I was informed that they have some new people working there who were likely misinformed yet, they aren’t going to do anything about it. I just have to pay this bill and was completely lied to when I signed up .

Oddly there are no high-end gyms right in Boulder, so while waiting for the new LifeTime Fitness to open in early 2025, I reluctantly joined 24 Hour Fitness (about 9 months ago). I don't understand the negative reviews at all - equipment is always fully functional (or fixed within a couple of days, but rare something goes down), the staff as I walk in and leave are always incredibly friendly and helpful, it's never over-crowded, and has every piece of equipment I could need or want. The locker room is clean and just fine. OK so the showers aren't luxurious (I choose not to shower there), there aren't bath towels or hair dryers or shampoos, etc to use, and it doesn't (obviously) look like a luxury gym - because it's not. But... if you sign up on any random day it's something like $20/month! And I signed up during a special, so it's $10/month (!). And has an indoor pool and sauna for anyone who want those. I mean seriously.. I was paying $200/month at my last gym. I'm not sure I'll move to LifeTime when it opens now - this is a friendly, uncrowded basic fitness center with everything I could need and works great for me. And did I mention I pay $10/month?!

Health risks present. Black mold on shower curtains... Thick layer of mildew on bathroom counters. The restroom is urine coated. Not sure if this place has ever been cleaned. With an annual revenue of 1.5 BILLION do you think you could hire some janitorial staff? This kind of grime takes months to build and minutes to remove.

Startling lack of sanitation and maintenance in the men's locker room for a national chain. Shameful. 2/6 showers have hot water. 1 of said showers does not have soap. Do they want customers?

This gym has stopped trying.

- Frequently opens late (wouldn't happen if it were actually open 24 hours)
- On several days, the opener doesn't show up, today included (wouldn't matter if someone was already inside keeping the gym open for 24 HOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS)
- The equipment and facility is dirty and unmaintained. Same hand prints on a mirror for more than a month.(A gym open 24 hours would have plenty of time to clean the mirrors... Oh silly me 24 Hour Fitness isn't open 24 hours)
- Worn out cables on cable machine. I've scratched up my arms, legs, and face several times. (If it were open 24 hours, somebody would have noticed. A night guy could be in charge of doing nightly inspections)
- Pool chemicals have frequently been an issue. There have been times where just walking into the gym you can taste the pool. (A gym open 24 hours would have caught that)
- Remember that one day where all those bugs showed up in Boulder? It happened at this gym too except the gym kinda just let them hang out. Funny, the bugs were allowed to stay in the gym 24 hours and not the people. That tells you how they feel about customers. It took days for someone to think about sweeping them out.

Credit given where credit is due, they have all the gym equipment you could possibly need for your workout. But, that is rendered pointless if you are too distracted by the uncleanliness, the unmaintained equipment, the unbreathable air, the insects, or more importantly the gym equipment is locked behind a door that contradicts the huge sign that says 24 Hour Fitness.

I use multiple locations of 24HR Fitness around the Denver area. This location is one I use a few days a week. There seem to be some missing clamps for the benches like a few other locations. It also does not have enough barbell options. There are no ceiling fans so the air gets stagnant when the HVAC isn't operating. The staff is kind and the gym is reasonably clean as a general rule.

I go to this 24 hour fitness as well as the one in Denver. That being said, I go out of my way to do all my workouts here at the boulder location bc it is clean - the bathrooms, the gym floor, the equipment. The staff are incredibly friendly. I usually go at off peak times and seldom have to wait to use equipment. Equipment is in working order and functional. My nervous system isn’t stressed out at this boulder location. Hands down my favorite gym here in bobo. I’d give it five stars if it wasn’t for the college students. That’s this gym’s only pitfall and the gym staff has no control over that. If you’re trying to avoid equipment hogging college students in boulder you’re SOL, but compared to Crunch the college crowd ain’t so bad. If you want to know what it’s like to workout with a scarcity mindset and distressed nervous system go to Crunch. It’s a literal nightmare.

Probably the grossest gym and bathrooms I’ve been to since my middle school gym and locker room. Disgusting hygienic practices. Sauna and steam rooms poorly taken care of. No thermometer In the sauna which is a basic safety issue. Stains on walls and floors. I was charged $25 for a 3 day “free trial” that had to be used consecutively. This is not free and they said I could get free if I live or work in Boulder County which I do but they said I could not because my state ID showed a different address. Will be getting a membership elsewhere where you can pay less per month than for a “free trial” here.

Derek Deines officially get the WORST manager of the year award! Never in my life have I been treated so bad. To make the long story short, I was a member at Vasa for a long time and lost motivation and needed a new atmosphere. So I joined the old gym at 24 Hour Fitness my old stomping grounds! not only did I work there I have been a member there since I was 14. I guess things have definitely changed Customer Sevice or people just don’t hire for Sevice anymore. I’m about a week and a half two weeks into my membership and I’m enjoying it,felt like home! So my wife decided to jump on the bandwagon as well and wanted to come see the gym because she’s not been inside this location. Today after Thanksgiving, she’s not doing well. Her father just passed away on Thanksgiving morning :(, what a better way to uplift her spirits, and get her to work out to help her with the Mental. The most horrible manager, that I’ve ever met my life Derek Deines treated us terrible said my wife wasn’t local then it was trying to charge us $25 when we downloaded a pass already we end up getting into a arguing match in front of the gym we’re pretty much everybody in the gym heard us. The manager called us, angry people, lol which was total embarrassment. We live on top of a mountain in nowhere in South Boulder, but yet our address on our license says Broomfield I am obviously a member and joined however, this is how my wife’s first experience went my wife cried. She was already emotional from what happened on Thanksgiving, losing her father And balled her eyes out in the middle of the gym and we just left … horrible not warm not welcoming. How could anybody treat anybody this way and want them to join their gym? I am dumbfounded by the level of managers 24hour Fitness hires compared to when I worked there. I guess the company really just did go downhill in staffing! The general manager, Derrick is a horrible Manager and should be in no business dealing with customers. I can’t believe my first experience with my wife was this way I am probably going to cancel my membership and find another home!

-Openers open several minutes later than posted. There have been multiple occasions where an opener does not show. If you aren't going to be open 24 hours, at least be open at the posted hours.
-A TV has been frozen on same screen for over 2 weeks without any action. Atleast turn it off. This is the only thing that works 24 hours here.
-Dirty sauna.
-Paper towels and disinfecting sprays are frequently not restocked. If you are not going to be open 24 hours, at least do the bare minimum to keep cleaning supplies available for 24 hour paying customers

Edit: Actually l love this gym. Mainly because it’s in Boulder and Boulder is just an amazing place. Staff is super chill… maybe too chill sometimes. Often the restroom trash will be overflowing while employees are just standing around looking bored up front, but overall it’s a good gym. Still pissed about my shoes from the original review. Just had to buy a new pair.

What I’m not stoked on is the hours. “24 hour fitness” and they close at 9 pm on Friday and Saturday and a literal 8pm on Sunday. Honestly that’s super lame. If you’re a gym you should be open til 11 or 12 every night no exceptions. Not sure why it is the way it is but for a gym to be called 24 hour fitness and close at 8, 9 and 10 pm is LAAAAAME!!!!

Despite that It’s still my favorite gym I’ve been a member of on the front range. Solid 3 stars. If they were open til midnight every night it would be perfect.

Original review : Left my shoes in the locker room, came back for them a week later after I previously called and was told they were there, apparently they gave them to the cleaning lady w the rest of the discarded lost and found. Brand new shoes. Unreal.

Extra Edit : You guys can give me a couple months free for giving my shoes away if you want to “serve me better”.

Good location (Iris), loads of equipment, lap pool, hot pool and is never overcrowded (in the mornings, at least) and the staff is friendly and helpful. We've been going for years as have quite a few morning regulars.
Update July, 2023: minus one star because the audio for this location's TV screens cannot be heard reliably on the cardio machines' earphone jacks. Audio and screen numbers don't match. About half of screens are often out of service. They've been claiming that, any day now, they'll have the TV provider will come and make everything right. They've been saying that for over 2 years. Clearly the corporation has no intention of fixing this.

I’d definitely give 0 stars if I could. I’m new to the area, I’ve been living at mysa at the crossing for a couple of months and was looking for a gym I could work out at. I applied for the 3 day membership. Today 7/25/2023 I got to the gym at 6:00am to be racially profiled and discriminated against me. I had walked into the club to see a gentlemen at the front counter, I advised him I had the guest pass, and to point me to the kiosk so I could fill out my information per the guest pass instructions. Right away he told me “ You have to be a local” who said I wasn’t? I’m black and right away assumed I wasn’t from this area or I didn’t reside in this area. I had told him I live five minutes away, at mysa at the crossing apartment homes. He looked at me and said he couldn’t help me. I advised I could show him a billing statement with my current address or even my lease and he said he couldn’t do it. I live here. To begin with he racially profiled me and discriminated against me before I could even say anything. This is disgusting behavior, this man represents this location and this is super disrespectful and disturbing to me. How could you allow someone who racially profiles someone because they’re black represent your location. To prove a point I got a membership after wards and walked in to workout. I’ll be canceling and taking my money else where. Super disgusting behavior.
