My son has attended numerous camps at Ascent and they're by far his favorite! He enjoys climbing and learning from the camp leaders, but he also likes the recess breaks and arts & crafts activities. Day camps at Ascent are a great option particularly in the summer when it's hot outside.

I climbed both here and Whetstone for many years, and found myself at Whetstone more often. This is a great gym, but it was extremely crowded, and very hard to find space on the lead wall (especially when the team kids were climbing). The setting was good but not always consistent, especially in the 5.12-5.13 range. But overall this is a good spot with a lot of fun routes and interesting setting.

Fantastic gym. Great walls, great route setting, really solid weight and hangboard area, and fantastic staff. The scatter wall is definitely a highlight. Prices for membership and day passes are relatively good as well. Climbing is my summer sport and when I’m not outside I’m here. Ascent is the perfect training gym for all climbers.

High recommend! I’ve been to quite a few climbing gyms in northern Colorado and none were as welcoming and helpful as Ascent. My toddler has become obsessed with climbing and having no experience myself, I was a little intimidated walking into a climbing gym. All of the staff everyday have been extremely helpful and patient. I feel as confident and prepared as I can be to support my daughter’s newest passion. After taking an intro class, I was able to pass my top rope belay cert and Matias was super motivating, patient, and supportive. Unlike any other gym we’ve been to so we will continue coming back and recommending ascent to our community!

This place is cool but very small and generally crowded. They also really need to rethink the layout of the top floor, I went to a yoga class and it was pretty hard to unwind with gym music pounding right outside the door and people dropping weights. One of the yoga instructors pulled on my neck during Shavasana to help stretch without giving me any verbal warning and my eyes were closed, which could really disturb someone and doesn’t feel appropriate to do without consent.

As a lifelong climber (over 50 years) who started in a very traditional fashion I find it interesting that I’m now a member of an indoor climbing facility. I’ve discovered that Ascent Studio is a unique place that allows me to engage with a community of climbers as well as develop my strength and skill set.
I take advantage of the occasional free clinic and yoga classes, an added bonus to being a member.
The interaction with the staff has always been positive and friendly, I appreciate that they are providing an inclusive environment for everyone, especially the LGBTQ community, who may find it difficult to find an accepting space to climb in.
I especially enjoy reconnecting with many other older climbers who I have not seen in literally decades, as well as communicating with younger climbers many of whom I’m sure have seldom climbed outdoors. Everyone seems to get along!
Although my wife and I are in our 70s we enjoy the atmosphere and challenge of this climbing environment, perhaps you will as well.

Not the nicest people there. I became a member this last month. I have not felt this community that all of the reviewers are saying… people at the front are cold and are frustrated that they have to do a belay certification.
To continue on this thread I have been being charged $10 a month for the last nine months. I had been told that my account had been frozen, not suspended and that they had been taking the money out.
The reason that I had become concerned was because I wasn’t making enough money to afford 80 dollars a month. They said that that was fine and they would help me.
Fast forward to when my bank gets over drafted by ascent this month, that’s how I found out about the ten dollars a month. come to find out that they had been taking $10 out of my account this whole time, Froze my account which still means they are charging me for nothing.
Besides frustrating.

Super fun experience! ✨🙌🏼
Went here for my nieces classmates birthday party. The staff was super helpful and friendly. They have a fridge full of wellness type drinks such as Yerba mate (classic gold sparkling ✨)and kombucha which really was a plus for me.
There were also tons of spaces for everyone to safely climb. They took the children to a small learning kids wall first and then over to different sections. I saw adults coming and going and it looked like they were also having a ton of fun climbing. They offer nights such as “Pride Night” for climbers which I thought was super cool.
I will definitely be back!

Attended an organized event for children at Ascent. The employee that was helping the group, I believe his name is Josh but am not sure, was rude and condescending to the point I had to put a stop to it. He called it being “strict” but in reality he was having a power trip over a nine year child. The other staff members were very nice.
Place is fairly pricey to climb at but very well maintained. Probably a good place to climb without children but there are definitely more tolerant places for families to climb.

Overall a really solid gym. Staff was friendly and helped me get checked in quickly, video was informative about the space, and overall a very high quality gym. Really only lost stars for 2 reasons (1 star for each reason).
The setting was slightly subpar considering the facility itself. Every route was quite soft. I'm a pretty regular 11+ – 12- climber, yet I was able to send nearly all of their routes comfortably up to 13-, where I was still able to chip away after a couple of takes. Really the difficulty in the climbs came down to either super dynamic movements, or very awkwardly placed holds. Overall a lack of interesting footwork. Not the worst I've seen! But it definitely could be improved upon.
The second missing star is from hold quality. Almost all of the routes had seen serious traffic when I came in, to the point where some jugs felt almost too smoothed over to climb. This wasn't so much of an issue on the more difficult climbs (V7+ or 5.12 and up) everything looked good. Everything below that needed serious cleaning up. Slipping off jugs just makes routes uncomfortable, especially considering the height of the bouldering area.
Other then that, mats were in good condition, the gym is VERY aesthetically pleasing, workout and training areas were fantastic. Staff and customers alike were kind. A very solid gym if you get the chance to visit!

Terrible
Experience.
I signed up my 3 year old son for a month one hour class and the teacher was not showing him
Anything, not introduction, no guidance. There were 2
Other kids that were more advanced and we could tell that been doing this for a long time which worked great because he did a little of what they did. But the so called “ instructor” didn’t instructed anything.
People are very cold and not personable,
Specially if you are assigned as an instructor of a 3 year old and helped them understand how you feel safe. Not coming back.

It is that time for the Google review. I’m closing in on a year at ascent and feel qualified to now make an accurate assessment of this gem, **gym!
When I began climbing years ago, my home gym was spoiled with setting from an OG pro climber that set with outdoor climbing at the forefront of his mind. The community there was also a family versus faces passing through. After moving and trying multiple gyms, I was settling into the idea I wouldn’t find anything comparable to my home gym. That is until Ascent happened to me.
This place brings me so much joy. The quality of the setting, the inclusivity and support from other climbers you encounter, the friendliness of the staff and setters, the lighting of the space, the ties to the community and their active engagement in giving back sets this gym apart from all others I’ve experienced. Also, their 30+ feet of climbing on the bouldering ramp is glorious. 😍 (Seen in pic attached below)
Important to note: I am a little over 4’10”. Climbs being inaccessible due to reach has been a very common theme at many gyms I’ve visited. However, that is how fricken good their setting is at Ascent. My height is not a detriment at this gym. I be sending all the projs with my 6’+ friends
I am so grateful that the ascent family has created such an amazing space for us lovers of rocks to feel at home when the outdoors just aren’t as accessible.
Join this gym, it is one of the greatest investments you will ever make in yourself 😁

This is an incredible place to learn about climbing, refine skills, and meet new people! I attended a climbing clinic this past Thursday taught by Jeff and was blown away. Jeff had such a good balance of excited energy and clear technical explanations. His bubbly nature was infectious, and had me excited for what was next. I was very happy that his enthusiasm did not at all take away from how clear the information was. It was absolutely excellent.
I returned just today to do some bouldering, and after watching some belay climbing I asked Sam S. a few questions about how to control the rope more effectively. What followed was essentially a short clinic on rope safety, belay devices, and technique. It must have been only 5-10 minutes but the amount of information conveyed was awesome! Props to Sam S. for teaching me so much in a short time without it feeling overwhelming at all, I feel like I came away much more confident in how ropes work. Thanks Ascent, I'll be back soon!!

We had a great time with our family while we were in the area. My wife and I (almost 40) and our kids (17, 15, 12, 8) climbed for almost 4 hours! Only our aching fingers and forearms forced us to stop. My 17 year old son and I took the belay basics course (an additional $12) which made it stretch our day so we could do several dozen more climbs. The auto belay system was easy to pick up and our kids felt comfortable using it all day. Helpful, friendly staff were there along the way for any questions we had. Our best climbing experience yet!

I took the She Climbs class with a few girlfriends. We are all beginner climbers. Marci was an amazing instructor! She shared her knowledge in an easily understandable way, demonstrated concepts, helped us climb hands-on, and was extremely supportive and empathetic of potential fears or concerns about climbing. I came away with a greater understanding of climbing technique and felt encouraged to practice more on my own. Visited May 13th, 2021. Disgusting first impressions, me and my boyfriend decided to try out a new gym while in town, we usually go to wooden mountain climbing gym( great service). We were displeased first by having to peak around their office corner to get someones attention. Once they noticed me I tried to tell them how I have been looking at there climbing shoes for sale and next asked about a price. My boyfriend had also mentioned he would like one of the hats they sell and 2 day passes. The blonde with the shaved head said "please pull your mask above your nose" (I did this. By the way these were the first words this woman said to me once knowing of our plans to drop about $160 at there climbing gym) , "and start by..." watching a 5 minute bore shesh video about there gym, would have much rather they just run down the rules in person. Any how we walked out 2 minutes into the video and went to Wooden Mountain Climbing Gym in Loveland.

First time and unimpressed. Front desk was disorganized and they were absolutely over capacity for COVID safety regulations for Larimer County . I’m a climbing instructor, I’ve set routes as well as had several gym memberships at other front range gyms. The belay certification is not thorough which shows. Lots of unsafe belaying happening throughout the gym. Routes were very inconsistent and did not flow well. I agree with others that the vibe was off and would say it was greatly understaffed for the amount of people climbing.

I’ve read some bad reviews from ancient trad dads and inexperienced gumbies alike, but let me tell you that they are wrong. Figure eights are definitely sketchy to be using anymore when we have technology such as the GriGri, and belaying standing so far back from the wall is indeed dangerous. The staff ARE ALL friendly amazing people, many of whom I’ve become friends with over my year and a half as a member. I can’t say enough good things about this gym, the setting is prime, the protection is all in good condition, the facilities are top grade, and the community is great. Ascent has been my home gym since I've been back in the Fort for the past year or so. It is a first rate facility with all of the amenities (including amazing coffee). I am a 6 AM regular, which is available to members including punch card holders. Ascent is the kind of place where you get to know each other by name, can connect to climb outside, and are generally welcome to join another group if you come in alone. The route setting is creative and varied and is updated frequently. Most of all, I feel very at home with the people. I was surprised at the negative comments here about staff. Sometimes it is easy to mistake different personality styles such as shyness as rudeness. We are all climbers and some of us have our quirks, but by the nature of our sport we put great trust in each other. I've never met an Ascent employee that would not return kindness with kindness (and I've met them all).

A fairly nice climbing gym, but some of the absolute worst employees I’ve ever met. I climbed here for about a year, and in that time, got to know the staff. There were a few staff members that I’d be happy to see, but others that would make me reconsider climbing that day. Sam for example, great climber, great guy. And Nick, super nice, would occasionally spot me for some shoes or a harness before I had my own. The guy who I think is the manager was pretty cool to, let me and my buddy into the employee kitchen for water cups. But the vast majority of the staff is terrible to talk to. That doesn’t include the people who set up the routes of course. Especially Will, I didn’t get to know him, nor would I ever want to. He is just about the worst kind of person. We asked if we could apply here, and the guy we asked said “everyone who works here has a lot of experience in their field.”, but I don’t think Will could’ve had experience because he couldn’t have been older than 18 years old, and was terrible at his job. Also, it is rather expensive, so not the most friendly to most climbers.

I came in to check the place out and hopefully sign up for an annual subscription plan for my wife and I. Unfortunately, I have never felt so unwelcome in a gym before. Carlin, the woman who checked me in, seemed irritated, rude and very dismissive. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

Hidden gem of a gym. It really shows how much detail and effort went into the design of the walls here. While there are larger climbing gyms out there (Movement Boulder), imo no other gym better utilizes the space that it occupies. Upstairs boards, weights and studio are a really nice touch for what is already an incredible space. Staff are rad. Youth and collegiate team crush. Atmosphere could not be any better.

My husband and I have been going to ascent for a few months now and we really like it. Workers are super nice and we are pretty much always welcomed by smiles and a warm hello. I don’t think I’d recommend it as a regular gym if you don’t climb, as I wish the gym had a little more machines but other than that everything’s pretty great!

Worst climbing experience ever. I see now why everyone I talk to says this place is terrible. Way to be the worst climbing gym in Colorado. Possibly the southwest region.

I have tried yoga off and on for years but I had not found a place where I felt I fit. The instructors are great at describing how to really get into the poses and give you different options for your level. I have been going to the evening classes with Megan and Shelby and feel they challenge me mentally and physically. Megan and Shelby have a different style and I enjoy the variety. I also enjoy the flow and the music that accompanies the practice. Since I have been going twice a week for 3 months I have felt my balance, flexibility and confidence in what my body can do increase.

Love love this gym! Awesome climbing and awesome fitness classes! I’m a huge yoga gal and their yoga program is awesome. Jessy and Shelby are both super great! Their vinyasa classes are both challenging and accessible. I absolutely love Megan’s restorative class, it’s incredibly relaxing and perfect for before or after climbing to get a good stretch. She also plays crystal bowls which I’m obsessed with!

This is one of the best climbing gyms I have been to. There is a good mix of both bouldering and rope climbing with interesting features and amazing route setting. Really friendly crowd, easy to find partners. There are lots of great member perks too, like the annual fitness challenge, appreciation nights, and discounts on gear (and morning coffee). What more can you ask for in a local climbing gym?

Indoor climbing at Ascent is my husband's and my new favorite activity! We are thrilled to finally have something that we both really love and can do together (we've been looking for something to fit this bill for 26 years, I kid you not), we are impressed with how attentive and helpful the staff are, we are pleased to be part of a community that is just super cool and we are surprised yet stoked at how much of a whole body workout climbing is. We would recommend climbing at Ascent to anyone who's lucky enough to be in the area to do so!

I love all the community-driven and high energy spectator events they have. The owners are very friendly and genuinely care about taking care of their customers and community. I like that they are frequently working the front desk and take part in their own events. It shows that they remain well grounded and connected with all that goes on under their roof. I’ve found all the staff friendly and sociable. They’re all passionate about climbing.
The gym has everything a new or serious climber could want or need. Tall walls, autobelays, cracks, bouldering, all angles, a very well stacked fitness area, cozy yoga studio, and soon to be child day care. I know many would love a bar, but that’s never been important to me so I don’t have a strong opinion there. They partner with breweries to offer alcohol at events and monthly member appreciations.
I mostly climb on rope these days so I’ll refrain from commenting on the bouldering, but same setters so... I’ve really enjoyed almost every route I’ve been on. I’m an established and confident climber so variations in grading don’t really get to me, but I find them consistent enough and pretty close to what I expect.
For my standards and from my experience I find the gym very clean and the air always chalk-free. There’s always cleaning to be done, at every gym, but it’s better than where I’ve come from.
I would enjoy a few more autobelays so there could be more grade and style options for when I need to climb alone, but not a deal breaker.
There are definitely times, 5-7p, when the teams are practicing that things get packed and you might need to compromise on what you get one or wait a bit.
I’ll close by saying that I am a previous gym founder and operator so I have a perspective as both a manager and a customer.
Finally, I find the reviews that the gym is either “atrocious” or that the staff are “rude” to be incredibly unfounded, unjustified, and simply from a very limited and childish point of view. Haters gonna hate. Whatev.

I've been meaning to check this place out with my little kids for a while now. I wish I'd gone sooner! They were wonderful. We are nieve and inexperienced with climbing but they helped us each step of the way. Prices seemed reasonable, equipment was in great shape and the staff was kind and professional. Kids are hooked, we'll definitely be back!

I came in to try it out, ended up walking out with a membership and a smile! Super fun place to climb! A little crowded(but that’s okay) early mornings are when I try to go, it being less packed! Wonderful staff, friendly and willing to lend advice and a hand to anyone looking or needing it! Awesome atmosphere and a little shop to the right as you walk in. Offering shoes, chalk, bags and a lot more!
