I have all things good to say, I have 5 boys that go here, the Coach is completely in control of the children and the kids in turn obey and respect the Coach. No yelling or talking down. Respect given, respect received. My boys love coming here, all of them! It has helped with aggression growing into young manhood and with focus. Highly recommend. For girls too!

Honest review time.
I leave this here because the Google reviews were why I selected this gym, and they are not reflective of my experience.
Coach Ali is clearly knowledgeable, unfortunately he has checked out completely. The "trial" class he will be attentive and actually teach you something. As soon as you sign up it completely changes. I went for three months, I learned absolutely nothing from Coach Ali after the first free session. Reason I didn't learn anything is he did not attempt to teach me.
Here is how a class will go:
1. 15 minutes of Jump rope or some random cardio drill, usually jump rope.
2. Heavy bag work, coach will be in his office on the phone, no feedback given.
3. Coach comes out of his office to demonstrate a combo that he comes up with on the spot, practice with a partner for 15 minutes, no feedback given. Back to the office, phone call.
4. Body sparring for the remaining 15 minutes with a hopefully tenured student who will teach you and correct you.
Coach Ali only works with the amateur boxers that are under him, he does not care about newcomers, at least that is how it seems
Coach Ali is a nice person, but seems to not be invested in his own gym anymore.

I was telling someone about this place today & I never left a review. A great place to learn boxing techniques & it is FUN!! It’s been years since I was here & had to leave due to injury not related to this gym, but if I could join another boxing gym, this would be it!! Highly recommend! It’s a fantastic workout! Ali is kind, serious & funny & wants you to get the most out of your experience. It’s important you learn & do correctly—plus you get to spar & that is awesome!! Everyone here from trainers to other boxers encourage each other throughout the workout! It’s a very motivating environment! I also enjoyed watching the actual boxers spar—he has them from kid ages to adults—a lot of talent there!

I've been going here for almost five months now. It has been a great experience. The experienced fighters are always willing to help the new folks, and they never take any cheap shots on the less experienced fighters. Safe gym.
Coach Ali is a great coach. When he is instructing you, he speaks with a strong tone, but not in a disrespectful way. It's boxing, not chess.

I'm having an awesome experience. From complete beginner to entering with confidence and poise, I'm having fun putting in some real work with my gym mates. And seeing the results week after week both in fitness level and skill development. Coach Ali is knowledgeable, instructive, friendly, and runs a well-organized gym.

I’ve been in martial arts for about 8 years on and off. This is the type of gym I look for and it’s pretty rare. If you want to learn the fundamentals and how to really box, this is the gym for you. The gym is more on the traditional side and smaller. This is helpful because it makes it easier for the coach to focus on you. Speaking of coaching, Coach Ali runs the gym and is amazing! He focuses on fundamentals and the science of boxing. For example, he teaches realistic combinations, tactics, and movements that translate to sparring and real fights. That’s what really separates this gym from others! Other gyms tend to teach flashy moves that will only work against an unskilled opponent. In addition, Coach Ali has Muay Thai and kid classes so it’s great for all types of fighters and ages. I highly recommend coming to BFS and trying one of the night classes of Mon, Wed or Fri to get a taste.

I've been training here at BFS for a few months, and every time I walk into the gym I know I'm going to get a challenging, enjoyable, and extremely useful boxing session. Coach Ali is incredible at what he does, and takes the time to help us learn. I've gone from not knowing what a cross punch is to being able to spar against more experienced members without being beaten, all thanks to Coach's help and teaching. Love it here.

BFS boxing is a genuine, old school martial arts school. The coaching and classes are all based on practical application drills and exercises, with personal coaching and feedback from coach Ali. The atmosphere of the gym and its community is welcoming and helpful to newcomers, with an emphasis on integrity and honestly examining and improving personal ability. I have 20+ years of martial arts experience in various styles and systems, and I can safely say this is one of the best gyms I have trained at. Coach Ali clearly displays a love for and connection to his students that is cultivated through hard work and pushing them to the edge of their ability, inspiring them to go beyond it. Every class I leave with a better understanding of the material presented, and a tangible feeling of having made progress from the work I put in. If you are looking for an entry point to martial arts, or a place to refine skills you already posses, BFS is the place to go.

Been here a couple weeks now and loving every minute! I’m very new to the fighting scene and Coach has been nothing but straightforward and tactical with his teachings which makes him a great mentor and coach. Sometimes coaches need to push you beyond your limits and some people don't like the push, which in turns makes them mad and quit and blame the facility, the other fighters, and/or even the coach. I’m here to tell you, coach is a driven and very passionate man and i’m looking forward to the year of training i have with him!

Great Gym! I have been attending Coach Ali's boxing classes for 7 months and my it has gone quick. This gym is the real McCoy, you will learn the techniques and form of boxing through pragmatic & purposeful drilling as well as conditioning exercises to increase your stamina.
There is a place for everyone at this gym (all ages, genders, fitness & skill levels) In my seven months I have seen not one act of ill will or word of ill intent.
One word to the wise: if you are looking to get into shape, clean up your boxing form, or are just looking for something healthy to through yourself at - come to the gym ready to work and you will find a group of great folks ready to push you to be better.

I've been a member of BFS or many, many years. Coach Ali is so knowledgeable and offers a program that is tailored for anyone and everyone's skill level. For those who have any questions about degree of knowledge and expertise , coach invites you to some and experience the first class for free and you yourself can get a feel for yourself instead of just watching YouTube videos. As someone who's been here for years, I second that. Most importantly though, as someone who has competed in many sports at various levels, it's the integrity of the gym that keeps me coming back. Whether you're looking to compete, or just looking for a new challenge physically and mentally, I invite you to come on in and bring an open mind and an eager heart. It's literally the best!

BFS Boxing is the best striking martial arts gym in town...hands down, no comparison! The main reason is Coach Ali, he is a world-class boxing/Savate/muay Thai trainer and his skills are bar none. I find Coach Ali to be a disrespectful individual. And that is unfortunate because from a technical standpoint, he’s a good trainer, and there’s a lot of efficient people that train in this gym. I understand part of that may have to do with Coach Ali’s communication difficulties; but sometimes it’s impossible to have basic conversations with him; and when he fails to understand, he will just shut you down.
I have even seen him bragging to students about choice words he would use to insult other students that he felt talked out of line. That struck me as bizarre because I feel respect cuts both ways between a teacher and a student.
As it is, as a student you defer to your teacher, so it's a disadvantage right there if the teacher is unmannerly, because you have to hold back. I was there for 5 months; I have no room for such people.
I tried to contact him asking for a refund for the month that I did not train. I had paid in advance for 3 months, and I felt that was fair to ask for, since I didn’t just walk out; rather he made it impossible for me to return with his tirade.
He has not responded.
Response to owner's response on 1/9/19 -
---------------------------------------------------------------------
All of the statements in the response are false to a degree that I strongly suspect I am being confused with someone else (I cannot disclose that name for the sake of propriety). Such a mix-up is surprising though, since my name (Nirankush) is in the post itself. I am not aware of ANY complaints against me. No warnings. NOTHING, such situations did not even arise. Just that one conversation on my last day on something trivial that got out of hand, that I alluded to earlier. And Nov 30th (a Friday) was the last day I was at the gym, and I was paid for Oct-Dec (I got paperwork to prove that). So that's another false statement that I had 10 days left on my membership. Honestly, I don't know what to make of such falsehood.

Coach Ali is great. If you actually want to learn striking this is the place to go in the Springs. Ali has tons of experience and knows what he’s talking about. Everyone gets attention and you get as much as you want as long as you seek it. Those who have said he focus on the actual fighters are ignorant to that fact that the actual fighters are the ones asking questions and perfecting technique. Not to mention that it’s crazy to think you deserve as much attention as someone who is actually stepping in the ring. He can be difficult to understand at times but if you want the best you will have to get past that. He has trained many great fighters who have seemed to overcome the language barrier and fighters are not known to be the best translators. So like I said if you actually want to learn techniques this is the place to be!

Coach is a very knowledgeable coach, and that much is made obvious in his teaching. I’ve never seen anyone who showed him the proper respect have any issues with him, and have faith in him as a mentor. Don’t believe the negative reviews about his lack of attention to any non-amateur fighters, in the 1.3 years I’ve been going there, never once have I asked coach for help on my technique and had him outright refuse me. He gives you as much as you give him, if you just want to lose weight and spar for fun, he doesn’t push you into something you’re uncomfortable with, you just have to ask him and talk to him about it. That being said, for the first few weeks you probably won’t do much but hit the bag, while he teaches you (assuming you’re new to combat sports in general) how to throw all the punches (more to it than you might think). He takes care to make sure everyone understands technique as he doesn’t want anyone throwing a punch that will injure their wrist/hand. After he is confident in your punches enough, Then combo/ body sparring (no headshots) come, and if you’re up for it, full sparring after that. The gym maintains a pleasant atmosphere rather than the stereotypical “Aggro meathead” that most people think of with boxing gyms, and everyone is respectful of what you want out of the gym.

I've been coming here for about 5 years now. I love this place because the coach/owner is very specific about how you train. He doesn't let you have bad form or create bad habits. He shapes your form and technique while giving you a great workout. Try this place out if you want to learn how to fight. If you're just coming here to workout, this is a great place for you because you'll also actually learn good form.

BFS boxing is a really great place. I started taking Muay Thai from coach Ali only about a month ago and i've already progressed more than I could have possibly hoped. Coach Ali is just as good with little kids as with experienced fighters, altering his teaching style to accommodate both. Also, this isn't the kind of gym where other athletes are out to hurt you, rather it's more of a supportive group mentality. I would highly recommend BFS to anyone of any walk of life or skill level interested in learning Boxing, Savate, or Muay Thai.
