When you cancel, they force you to pay an extra month and a fee at the time of cancellation. The other reviews are not lying. Money hungry gym that doesn’t reinvest back into itself.

DO NOT GO HERE. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this Crunch Fitness location. I cancelled my month to month membership back in April and even provided my military orders showing that I would be relocating and no longer in the area. Despite following the proper steps and clearly stating that I would not be able to use the facility, I have been continuously charged to this date.
These ongoing charges have not only been frustrating but have also caused overdrafts and unnecessary financial stress, which is completely unacceptable for something that should have been resolved months ago. This situation disregards the protections that service members have under USERRA and makes me feel that my status and documentation were not taken seriously.
I even went back in person to address the issue yet the charges still continued even after multiple calls and being told I would receive a prompt response. No military member or customer should have to fight this hard just to stop a membership that was already "cancelled". I cannot recommend this location based on my experience, and I hope they take accountability and correct these practices immediately. I would like like to receive a refund for the dates I have been frequently charged.

I’m leaving this review to share my experience with the membership process. I canceled my membership trial within the three-business-day window outlined in the contract, yet my card continued to be billed afterward. I’ve attempted to resolve the issue directly with the location and through email but have not yet received a correction or refund. The lack of follow-through and professionalism in handling something this straightforward has been extremely disappointing. I would advise others to avoid this location to prevent similar issues.

This is a very nice, well maintained, and clean facility! However, I noticed that one of the legs machines is still in disrepair over a month later. I’m like how they have digital class around the place so you can determine the timing of your workouts. They also have enough rooms for various classes.

I used to love this gym until I canceled and still get charged!!! What an absolute headache! I can go on forever but I am so frustrated today! Called the store 3 times over the last 3 days, 2 times I was told a manager would call me back and to my surprise I never got any call. Today no answer and the mail box was full. Went into the store and was told my account was past due, when I stopped my subscription I owed nothing! I need to talk to someone to get my bank accounts wiped from your system!

Completely ignored my notice to cancel in person and over email. I called a employee even said I paid the cancel fee and was ignored from May 14 they still try to bill me even after employee said my membership was cancelled. Richie recovered my water bottle for me. Also, the place doesn't open on time if Richie isn't working. (This is old, Ritchie has left, and they can't open the gym on time consistently still).
Update: I have been going here at 5 am for 2 years now. It has been "Mid" at best. What baffles me is that they manage to not even open the gym 2-3 times a month. I'll pull up at 4:55, and the gym will still be closed when I'm leaving at 5:10 to go home and try to salvage my morning workout. Not to mention the monthly water shuts off because they keep patching up some bigger issue with nickles and dimes.
This place only works for my schedule. I'd leave in a heartbeat if somewhere else had the schedule that works. The fact that they inexplicably leave the lights off 2-3 times a month, leaving their clients to hang out to dry, is astonishing. That is, until management finally wakes someone up and sends them in to open the place.
Update #2: Just left the parking lot 20 minutes after the gym was supposed to open. This is the third time in a week that they didn't open on time. 5th time all month. This is too hard on my routine to have to jump around and adjust, my schedule is too tight. I'm officially leaving. There is a 24 hour gym downtown I'm going to go to. I am also going to try to get as many people to leave this garbage gym as possible.
Gyms in Afghanistan were ran better than this.

The membership cancellation process is a complete mess. After being a member of the gym for multiple months I decided that it was not a good fit for me. I went into the gym to cancel. I was told 30-day notice was required, fine. I was charged after that 30-day period was over. After promptly going back to the location I was told by an associate that he could not do anything and he called someone. He took my information down and told me a manager would get back to me that afternoon. They did not do that, and they have not attempted to contact me about the issue in any way. I have emailed the crunch manger email. No response. I am very disappointed as the lady who originally signed me up told me that this would not be an issue and there was new management. This is obviously not the case, and if there even is new management they appear to be just as unresponsive as ever. I am very disappointed. If you have to use this gym, I would not suggest anything but prepaid. Don’t attempt to do any membership, not worth the hassle.
Update: The manager at the email I was given did respond and process a refund. Thank you for doing that.

It is like jumping through hoops to cancel your membership here. I went in to cancel it and they said it was canceled only to get a call from a creditor a couple months later saying I owe 175 bucks and my credit score took a hit. Horrible business. I do not recommend at all...

So I canceled my membership at this place five months ago and I even got a confirmation email from the manager confirming that I had canceled but I’ve been charged every month since and I’ve sent them multiple emails and gotten no reply. I have now called twice with no action having been taken to resolve the issue and it has just been a nightmare trying to do business with this gym. I guess just expect it to be a very high friction process if you ever want to cancel a membership here

PSA to anyone who enjoys a nice Zumba class, there have been males filming some sessions inside the studio. They aren’t dancing, they aren’t participating, they are simply camping out on the floor taking up space and filming videos. I guess they are boyfriends or husbands of some of the ladies. I was told that a certain man was the husband of one of the women and she likes him to film her, then why was his camera pointed directly at me? I like to stay in the back since I’m pretty tall and don’t want to get in the way, and his wife was clear in the front.
For someone who wants to let loose and not be bothered with appearing on a complete strangers personal phone, I would seek a different gym! If you’re gonna film please notify the class, so individuals who are uncomfortable can exit! I spoke to the front desk who fully agreed with me, however I haven’t been back since the most recent incident to see if any changes have been made. Gonna try out the north location to see if we’ve got filmers. If so I will unfortunately be canceling my membership. It’s absolutely uncomfortable!

This place is the worst gym I've ever been to. I went in for a day pass.and I was told that it would be cheaper if I got a membership.the manager also said I can cancel anytime. So i tried to cancel a couple of days ago and they told I have to wait 60 days and I gotta pay an anuell fee. And when I signed up with the female manager there I wasn't told any of that. There just there to screw u and take your money. Do not go there its not worth it. Oh I was also told now that I had ten days if I wanted to cancel.but was never told any of that when I signed up.t
There quick to take your money and leave out crucial information. And the manager knew I only wanted a day pass. And swindled me into a contract that you can't cancel anytime.

Went in last night to sign up for a gym membership & was greeted by a female (can't remember her name) who gave me a full walk through, was courteous & educated on her facility. Walked me through the different kinds of memberships & helped me get setup. I've always had great experiences with Crunch Fitness & this was nothing shy of that.

Very unprofessional and not military friendly. Tried to find out what was wrong with our membership and was simply shrugged away. Very little communication and very little help. Misspelled our names and phone numbers twice. First few visits were fine but this one was unacceptable. They don’t really approach you when you walk in, you have to wave to get their attention. They look like they don’t want to be bothered.

Honestly I love this gym. The workers are so kind, it’s rarely too busy that you cannot get a full workout in, and has enough equipment that suits most workouts. I switched from vasa and it was the best decision.

Signed up for a 3-month membership and paid in full because I was on a business trip from out of town.
My business trip ended prematurely and I only used the facility for 6 weeks... Half of the time that I paid for.
I asked for a prorated refund, I paid for 3 months and only received a month and a half. I understand if they can't refund me for the second month because I already used half of the month... But there's a whole extra month I paid for, that this business refused to refund me for.
Other than that, the gym equipment is just not as good as it could be, A workout is still doable, but range of motion on certain machines as well as the height of the benches. Just certain little things and not having certain equipment, not able to get in certain exercises because of it....
Wouldn't even consider using a crunch fitness again, Not just due to the quality of the equipment but the fact that they wouldn't even consider giving me a prorated refund for unused time that I paid for up front.

I realize you're just trying to protect the image of your business, as would I. But I also would not treat guests and clients as you have treated me. The only reason I am leaving this is because you guys have done bad business...

I used to work in a gym for a long time, NASM certified personal trainer, I currently own multiple businesses, and I would never treat my clients as such.... When I walked in I saw a worker sitting on the couch on his laptop. Nothing wrong with that cause I assumed he was doing work, but I didn’t see another employee that could help me. I approached him and asked if he could answer a question I had about upgrading my membership with being able to use the tanning bed. He kept looking at his laptop the whole time and simply seemed like he didn’t care about my question. I find that was extremely rude. His name is Jason and I think he needs to be counseled how his customer service skills.

My son was so excited to start making the gym a part of his routine. As soon as he got there he was immediately bombarded with sales tactics. My son has social anxiety so just going was a big step.The employees were relentless. It made him not want to go back. Just let people be, if they want something they'll ask and when they say no accept that.

The morning staff is extremely inconsistent. The gym is rarely every open at 5am. Currently 5:10 and there is no sign of life in the gym. It is also very untidy in the morning and no weights are put away properly.
Update: Another day, 5:10 and still not here. I only came here this morning to cancel my membership lol. Crunch should owe a refund/free membership to all of us who have been affected by the lack of discipline of their morning staff.

If I could give them a zero star review, I would. They didn't cancel the first time I asked them to. Even after I came down there and signed the form they required me to. Now here we are... Almost 6 months later...And they have finally canceled my membership, but that was not before they continued to charge my account months after I asked them to cancel my membership. I have reached out to the gym on multiple occasions for a refund and been given the runaround, been given managers names but no phone numbers and no ability to contact them with no call backs. When I email them proof of these charges as they requested there's then no response from them, either. I wouldn't trust a business like this and I will never walk into another Crunch in my life. Furthermore, I will share my experience with them to anyone who will listen. HORRIBLE! I feel a Better Business Bureau complaint in their future.

I really love it here honestly. The staff is nice and friendly. But a couple times a month the doors have not been opened on time at 5am. This really inhibits me from following through with my schedule. I pay for a membership here I should be able to go when it opens. The gym has also been unkept in the morning as well. I'm really close to switching memberships. Please fix this issue it's very unfair to the members who go when it opens at 5am. I would also like to give a shout out to the people who have worked very hard over the passed year. It has been very apparent that Crunch failed to cover those people when they had time off.
I'm editing my review once again because the doors still fail to be open on time at 5 am. We called the north crunch location and luckily Charles was able to come open the gym for us. He deserves a raise if he is going to open for both locations. We rely heavily on this routine and when it doesn't open on time it's a waste of our time. We will be taking our business elsewhere if this continues to happen. I like how slow it is in the morning but I'm starting to see why.

This crunch really surprised me. The staff is usually really nice, but the trainers like to use 3 machines at once which is very inconsiderate when I’m trying to work out before work. I’ve been to a couple other crunches and this one is by far the worst. The equipment they have (which isn’t much) is definitely on the cheaper end and really just seem to be there to take up space. The $10 a month looks good on paper, but you are definitely paying more for what you’re getting here. On top of all of this, the restrooms are usually down once a week where you can’t use them for hours. Today I went into the restrooms and there was literally brown water coming up through the drain with an awful odor. This may be the first time I have recommended someone not to get a membership here, but PLEASE DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

I sign up for the 1-day trial pass from their website; I goto the gym and they refuse to honor the pass. There are two locations, North and South Academy, my pass was specifically for this South location. They still refused to honor the pass after clarifying that the pass was for the correct location.

This gym will not let you cancel your membership. I tried to cancel during Covid and they wouldn’t let me, kept saying a manager would need to approve of it but the manager would never call me back. I moved out of state and they kept telling me I would need to come in and refused to help me find a solution. Years later now and I just got a derogatory mark on my credit and the collection agency refuses to take it off all over 140 bucks. This place has 0 integrity.

Worst Crunch I have visited. It’s right next to where I work so I filled out the form for a 7 day trial. The front desk guy was rude, told me it was only good for 1 day and then tried to pressure me into a membership. They proceeded to text me every day for the next month. Wasn’t going to come back but because of the convenience went to sign up for a membership. Even though the website said $1 activation for all memberships he insisted it was $70 activation and another $60 after 2 months. He didn’t want to explain it or work with me, he just wanted me to accept it and sign. Horrible customer service. Honestly felt like they did not want me to sign up. The facility is fine but I will never consider coming back.

These people have something going on in here. One of the cleanest gym I have ever seen. A by far the cleanest Cruch I have visited. The place was not so big compared to other with the same franshine but easy to navigate the way around. The staffits friendly, the only thing not so friendly the wifi unless you have Xfinity or maybe I missed was not available. Other than that, great location.

Diego tells me that my wife and I can try the gym for 1 month for $1 each with no monthly fees UNLESS we decide to visit after my 1 month is over, I proceeded to go to this gym the same day. I wake up the next morning to look over the receipt sent to my email and he tries to charge my wife and I $49.99 for an annual fee on top of $29.99 for the next month EACH (which we did not agree on). Had to put a stop payment from this gym trying to scam us. Very sub par customer service, excellent scam artists if you allow them.

Time came and they auto renewed my contract and charged me money I DIDN'T want charged in the first place. I took the necessary steps to avoid this. They cancelled it over the phone AFTER they took out the yearly fee and a month of membership. I didn't try and cancel early. A manager is conveniently "not there" anytime I call. The corporate emails just get ignored or they transfer you to another email that gets ignored. This place has the worst management of any business I've ever seen.

Great place overall, clean. Good varied selection of equipment for different fitness needs with one of the better layouts I've seen. They have Fitness classes, tanning beds, and hydro massage but I ain't tried any of them.
They don't mask but they also don't bother me for masking nor have they harassed me or my service dog. They're okay with some disabilities but bad on others like most places these days.

Decent gym overall but there's this one super short guy who works at the front desk and can't handle his steroids well... constantly grumpy and hating on anyone over 4 feet tall or a better physique. Which is half the gym members. Also I told them I was not interested in personal training from day one. None of their personal trainers are at my fitness level. They called me weekly harassing me from different numbers asking. I had to change numbers and then go in person and ask them to stop

Good prices for memberships and good service. Equipment is quality and they have enough to keep things interesting. During peak times, it’s sometimes hard to find some open equipment but that’s just normal gym life. There aren’t a ton of classes but there are morning and evening so there’s enough to fit different people’s schedules.

So overall this remindes me of a Planet Fitness. It does have a wide variety of dumbbell sets with independent benches and a few variations of barbell racks but not a lot of other weighted machines only cable machines.

They told me they can't cancel over the phone when I called and to come in with my ID. I go in and the guy told me we needed to wait for the boss to approve my cancelation. That's truly unacceptable.

Been going here for an about 5 months now and this gym has definitely grown on me! It does get pretty busy certain times but the time I go isn’t too bad. I’ve met some cool people there and have always felt welcome. There is a cleaner there I see almost everytime I go. It’s definitely not spotless but I would say overall everything stays pretty clean. I will definitely be staying here a while.

This was possibly one of the worst businesses I have ever delt with!!! They tried over charging my card to things I never agreed to or signed up for, was told several times my membership had been cancelled only to get phone calls asking for money. When I tried to contact the gym and they said the regional manager was the only one that could handle that. Took almost 3 weeks to finally get him in the phone and was told he couldn’t do anything about it and the corporate office was just as helpless. Save yourself the headache and go anywhere else!!

**Do not join Crunch Gym** I truly had one of the worst customer services experiences in my life at Crunch gym South. I signed up for a membership one month ago--a $9.99 month to month membership. I also signed up for four sessions with a personal trainer. When I initially visited the gym, the GM Chris attempted to up-sale me at every turn. After expressing firmly that I could not afford the personal training options he was presenting, he said he would sign me up for a month to month membership at $9.99, and one month of sessions with a personal trainer (4 sessions total, meeting once a week). I confirmed with him that the personal training sessions would only be for the one month, to which he assured me that I would not be charged again unless I explicitly asked to sign up again. A few days ago I was charged another $300 for personal training, and was told that I cannot be refunded. To add insult to injury, the month to month payment of $9.99 that Chris said I could cancel at any time (because he knew I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay at the gym), has a cancellation fee. So, now I'm out of another $75. What makes this even worse, I called *before* my membership was renewed to confirm that I would not be charged again for the training. The front desk worker said that she would make sure that was noted and that it should be fine. Clearly, the inability to be forthright and honest isn't limited to management at Crunch fitness.
Chris is not an honest person, after failing to up-sale me on the services he wanted, he gave me false information to rope me into a membership. When I went back to review my receipt and contract, which he said he would email me, I realized he never sent them. I know now why he didn't send them. I will not be returning to Crunch. This is a shame, because I hoped to work with my trainer again in the future, and she was the epitome of professional.

My daughter wanted to cancel her one year membership, the next day she sign, the guy didn’t explain to her what she was signing, they charge 200 $$something for cancelation so they said that paying each month will be better because after the year there was no charge for cancelation, we wait and they still charge to cancel after the year they don’t speak clear, and won’t let you cancel that easy as you sign

I've worked out at a LOT of gyms in my day, so I can really rip 'em apart if I want to. . .
Crunch (South Colorado Springs) is a solid spot if you're serious about getting in shape, it's a really good option.
I've gotten a great result in the past couple months (I'm 43) and I attribute that to the easy flow of my lifts and the no nonsense attitude in the building.
No, they don't hold your hand and rub your tushie when you sign up, but in my experience, those complaining about this or that are looking for any excuse not to put in the work. Ask yourself what you need in the gym and it's all there.
Just do the work.
It's a solid facility with great equipment and the manager and staff have treated me well.
My only minor gripe is the area near the men's bathroom can smell a bit rough at times but that's not the staff's fault (and gives you a good excuse to work on your breath control 🤣).
If you want a gym to take some pride in your membership, my advice is to lead by hard work and try to keep your complaining to a minimum. They always respond favorably to someone on a mission. Get in your best possible shape and inspire those around you with hard work.
Gyms love that.
Anyway, this particular Crunch gym is just fine by me, but I try not to spend my time complaining about trivial issues when I could be doing something positive about it.
I hope this review helps seperate the whiners from those actually concerned about their (physical AND mental) health.

Sharp staff. Keeping it well maintained and clean so far. All equipment modern an new. Great showers. Hot water in lavs could be hotter whatever you do DON'T plan on shaving here unless you do it in the showers. Water in lavs or wash basins never gets hot! Overall however no regrets.

We (my daughter and I) pay for a membership for over a year that allows guests but the manager always gets irritated when we bring one. Makes us wait 5-10 min to sign him so he can sell memberships. Why would you treat loyal members poorly to sell to new ones?
The above review was 2 weeks ago. Today my son, daughter, and I, were working out on 2 leg machines and the manager (mentioned above) decided to come up and “work in” with us even though there was 3 of us sharing 2 machines. He proceeded to stand over me on the quad extension machine as I did my set while my son also was waiting to use the same machine. Seriously the craziest display of gym etiquette i’ve ever seen.

Absolute trash of a membership plan. Cancelled my membership and initially the cancellation payment didn't go through so when it was able to go through they continued my membership because I need to ask for the cancellation again. Didn't realize til a few months after and of course they won't refund me those payments so I removed all funds from that method of payment and I got hounded like a narcissist for payment through email and calls daily.. it got so annoying I just paid the final fees to cut all communication with me. Mind you for months they were hounding me for payment without deciding to cut their losses and just close the account. Extremely pathetic and will never gym here again just because of that.

Will take your money. I cancelled my membership over 2 months ago in favor of a gym closer to home. I was charged for a membership the last two months. The first time I was told it wouldn’t happen again but I wouldn’t be refunded. I accepted this and moved on. Then they charged me again. I complained and reached out to management. Haven’t heard back since. Both times I was told there was no record of me cancelling. I liked going here originally but I’m glad I left. Clearly, your money is their only concern and they will lie through their teeth to get it. I’ve already reported my situation to the better business bureau. And before you come for me I was a month to another membership. Not a year contract. Do yourself a favor, sign up with a different gym or workout at home. Just a mother gym looking to take advantage.

I'm new to crunch and I have nothing but great things to say about this location. Great staff (although I've only interacted with Chris, who is kind, energetic, and welcoming). They maintain an extremely clean environment with free weights and machines that should fit whatever it is that you need. Lots of options for cardio, and they even offer classes that you may be interested in. I haven't experienced anything negative whatsoever. Crunch is an awesome place to go and be active without being worried about judgemental glares from anybody.

I have 3 daughters that have memberships to Crunch. Their slogan is something to the effect of “No Judgment.” Two of my daughters were at the gym when an older man approached them and (one of my daughters had on a waist trainer), he told my other daughter “waist trainer worked too good for you, and you, good luck). Implying one was too skinny and the other one, was not at all. Another time he proceeded to tell my youngest, “you’re one of the sisters? Yeah there’s a skinny one and the fat one!!! We contacted the GM, Chelsea, who responded, (I know him and his wife, he would never.) then something to the effect of him being old school!!!! I tried contacting Raul, who is district manager. He has never called back after two attempts. Obviously, they don’t care about their female member, or for their slogan!!!!! Another time, a man was filming my daughter and another man let her know. They advised the employees and still, nothing.

I opened up a membership while I was still living in Colorado, things happened and I ended up moving to another state and had no need for the membership. I called to have my account closed and pay my final month of the membership. I made sure to ask if everything was taken care of properly on my end so I don’t have to worry about paying anything to them anymore and the person assured me everything was taken care of and there would be no more payments needed. Only to find out a month later on a phone call to them again after I got a message to pay that the account was never closed. I obviously was very upset and instead of having an angry conversation I immediately hung up to cool down and tried to call them back after a day. Now every single time I call their number it somehow doesn’t go through, I have no crunch gyms near me so I can’t just walk into one and fix this in person, and they also sent me a message that they’re going to send me to collections if I don’t contact them in 40 days. Everything is sunshine and rainbows with this gym until you don’t need them anymore. DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP FROM THEM

I get they're in a business to make money, but respect your members' time. They stop members checking in to promote their protein stacks or get friends/family info to get new business. I'm coming to the gym for me time. I'm not shopping.
It's not a bad gym, but trying to sell things everytime I check in shows lack of respect for my time. I workout on my lunch break so every minute you're trying to sell me is taking time away from my workout which is going to eventually take me away from this gym.
*** UPDATE: Since this review, I haven't been stopped nor have I seen others be stopped for a promotional sales pitch. Whether the review impacted that change or not, I appreciate the noticeable difference of being able to check in and get straight to my workout.

This specific Crunch location has a lot of cardio equipment but I’d say very limited on machines/free weights, and there’s a Trainer that would be there during peak hours hogging a couple of those or an entire bar, while not even using the equipment, and mostly flirting with whoever he gets the chance to. Makes the waiting process for an equipment spot to open up a lot longer than it should ever be
