This is a review of DBC as a whole, not any particular location. Let me begin by stating that I have been a loyal member of DBC for 4 years, and it all came to a screeching halt rapidly. As of 6/30, DBC closed their north location, and ownership tried to keep their members in the dark by not releasing any information until the very day of closing. I am frustrated both as a paying member, and as a friend of DBC employees who have been negatively affected by this transition. Additionally, when I inquired via email about cancelling the last month of my yearly membership and being reimbursed given the circumstances (only have access to 2/3 listed gyms, and intentionally being kept in the dark as a member), I received the response βour membership terms do not allow for an automatic cancellation if one of our locations becomes unavailable.β Their level of communication is extremely poor, and, given the high number of bouldering gyms in the Denver metro area, you can do much better elsewhere. It saddens me to see my 4 years ruined so quickly, but I want to warn others of the way DBC has handled their recent closure, which is indicative of the way ownership runs the business and treats others in general.

DBC South is what's up! Great problems. Fantastic vibes, snacks and even BBQ close. Looking to crush some boulders do it at DBC South. Was a member for over 8 years!

Leaving 5 star reviews for all 3 locations. I canβt say enough positive things about DBC. I have been climbing here on and off over the last 7 years. Never once had a bad experience. Excellent staff. Excellent facilities. They are always improving and innovating. I recently had to cancel my membership just due to time, or lack thereof, and they made the process super simple. I appreciate that. I will join again when my schedule clears up a bit but in the interim I will be climbing on a drop in basis. Do yourself a favor and join the community

Just moved to Denver from Phoenix and have been to all the gyms, looking for one that worked and fit my ideal image. This place is fantastic and the most economical. You get access to all gyms, as well, with a membership. The South location is pretty small, but the route turnover is quick and everyone is very friendly. Definitely staying here

WOW! What a fantastic experience. I took my elementary aged kids on a week day and Kay was nothing but inspiring! My daughter was getting frustrated and she was on point to help her gain confidence and keep going. Hours later, both kids did not want to leave. Kay provided a wonderful learning and fun day.
A million thank you's for taking the time and patience to make new friends with a passion for climbing. Keep being you!

Got my climbing roots in at DBC and learned the fundamentals there. Fantastic place, south location is pretty small but I was still able to spend hours there working different problems or perfecting others.
Pros/cons: Super laid back place, sometimes a little too laid back, for instance employees not answering calls on multiple occasions or some employees seeming to not fulfill their basic requirements. Max was the first person I spoke to and his charisma and kindness kept me coming back nearly every day, and he was always a step above the others in terms of being a real person with an interest for listening to others and guaranteeing a good time is had.
The routes here are super good, and I'll bet it's the only thing the routesetters are capable of doing (which is great, it's their job and they do so well at it) - they are incapable of conversation or response, even if you speak directly to them or try to ask a question. Fine with me, they're not there to chat but rather place plastic rocks, and it's not like you see them much anyways. It just seems like DBC programmed these robots to build the best routes possible and that's all.
The only reason I am not with DBC anymore is because I wanted to dive into the world of rope climbing, but if I ever go back to just bouldering then DBC is the first place I am going back to.
My FAVORITE part of DBC, primarily south, was how empty it was at later hours. Most of the time I came in late afternoons, 7 onward, and there was at most just a few people. And the people that were there with me were so genuine, kind, and empowering for everyone else to tackle some amazing routes. I am a pretty shy, introverted person and the members there made me feel comfortable with getting on the rocks, especially for a major amateur. Now that I regularly go to a Movement gym, I miss the small laid back vibes of DBC. If there was ever a problem there it was settled quickly without much bureaucracy unlike these bigger gyms. I felt very welcome there. I see a need for Denver Bouldering Club and I hope others continue to recognize it.

I like the routes here and the staff is very nice but their hours are horrible!! I think theyβre trying to push 24hr memberships because they have the dumbest possible hours that made trying to visit very difficult.

Alec Sarche hosts an awesome yoga class at this location! I attended his Sunday morning slow flow class as an introduction to yoga for myself, and I will absolutely be returning as much as possible. Alec did a fantastic job at leading the class and guiding us through a very relaxing and centering yoga session. Alec offered easy to understand tips, cues, and alternatives on each movement, and, at the end, allowed for some time to peacefully meditate and center ourselves for the day ahead. It's easy to tell yoga is a strong passion for Alec; he's always able to suggest helpful stretches and exercises to help with mobility and strength whenever I casually ask him for advice. Alec is super personable, super knowledgeable, super good at yoga, and always super interested in learning more and adding to his knowledge and skill sets. 11/10 would recommend.

I generally don't give Google reviews, but come on, DBC is great. The staff is super friendly, there's a Moon board, great community, and every gym has an awesome vibe. What's not to love?

Small gym but packed to the gills with thoughtful problems. Not a lot of slab problems, mostly inward sloped or overhang walls, but all good fun. The gym equipment was generous for a gym this small, they've got a rower, bench, power racks, and cardio equipment. A bit out of my way, but I'd definitely come here again for some variety from the Central location!

We had an amazing time here! The person on staff was very friendly, and the walls had a great range of difficulties and were a lot of fun. Plus, it was not very busy when we went on Sunday morning. It may not look like much from the outside, but this is an excellent spot!

Great spot! Air is clean, mats are intact, members are all friendly, and the setting is super solid. It's nowhere near the size of the Movement gyms, but it's also possible to get a parking spot at 6pm and not have to fight people off to get your turn on your problem. Great gym!

The place itself is really cool the treadwall was very funand the non climbing part of the amenities were impressive, the climbing though is genuinely not beginner friendly for that go to the central location stay far away from this one. But that's not a bad thing I understand you probably have clients that require different things so it's smart to spread it through different locations, but if you're a plus size woman who does this for fun than this is not the location for you

The setting feels really awkward and the walls and alot of foot holds are like ice, the tredwall is really cool and the slack line. Though it would be more a place for a workout to me, the central location feels more normal and has taller walls that allow for more moves and veriety.

This is a really cool spot. Super friendly environment, and there were at least 3 cute dogs to pet while I was resting. The walls are short, maybe 20 feet tall, but the problems are very challenging. The upside is you will get a great strength workout, the downside is it's easy to burn out and get frustrated. there's a small gym, but this place is really geared to the hardcore boulderer

Despite it being the smallest out of the three DBC locations, it possibly my favorite one to go to! This location was where my first attempts in bouldering occurred so itβs very near and dear to my heart! A bonus to going hear is the wonderful greeting from adorable dogs! The staff and members are one of the best and itβs more of a community than anything! Thanks for everything DBC!

Good size rock climbing gym with fun challenging climbs. I love their oak walls. They use a different system for listing difficulty (E-,E,E+, M-+, H-+) but it's easy enough to map.

Pretty great bouldering gym. First of all, it's one of the cleanest climbing gyms I've been to, all of the holds are super readable which is something I tend to struggle with (home gym is Austin Bouldering Project so I'm a bit spoiled). I can't speak a ton to the setting quality but I was pleased with the variety both in route type and difficulty. There are about 80 routes set up. They use an easy, medium, hard rating system instead of the V system to avoid pedantry. A minimal but functional gym is included, and so are hanging bars/a treadwall. Looking forward to making this a stop whenever I am in Denver for the holidays!

do you like sit starts, heel hooks, friendly people, working out at 3am, and a gym where half the area is dedicated to training tools? then dbc south is your place! come before 5 and you'll probably have the place to yourself, come after 5 and you'll have to watch a bunch of kids who are probably better than you.

Definitely not big enough to be your go-to gym. Only enough to keep you busy for 45min-1 hour. The walls are very low, so most problems are ~3 moves. The setting just felt odd to me. All of the M+/H- grades I worked seemed to be really awkward. Not in a technical or physically taxing way that makes you want to work on the problem; just awkward.
The people working the desk were very nice, and the gym had a nice feel overall, just not a destination bouldering spot.

Rocks seemed pretty old and slippery. My first warm up route ended up actually being kind of difficult because my feet consistently slipped off the rock. Thinking maybe I was just failing, when I got off I felt those foot rocks and confirmed, they are extremely slick. This is on top of the wall they chose to mount the holds onto which is also extremely slick. I'm sure that's got its benefits, but I'm used to flagging on the wall for traction where necessary. After trying most routes over the next few hours, I found that most of the rocks did feel pretty old and slippery.
Not sure if it's just a matter of personal preference, but the routes here were also simply not fun and were highly inconsistent. Their rating system is Easy, Medium, and Hard. I typically flash V4's and have been solving V5's at several other climbing gyms (in FoCo and Boulder). I found myself semi struggle on one of the simple "easy" ratings (which are supposed to be up to V3 according to the front desk), while absolutely crushing other "easy" ratings.
It feels like they just tried to squeeze as many routes as possible in the smallest possible setting. It has a decent enough environment with enough other people climbing, but take your membership somewhere else. This is a place for a single day pass on a date with other beginners. Not a place for consistent membership and growth.

Lots of easy and medium problems. The short walls are easy on the back and knees if you like to drop from the lip. The padded floor is in great condition and is closer to felt than vinyl meaning a little less dust. It's also rarely crowded. They opened an awesome cross fit room next door as well if you're into that
