It is great. Different sports you can play. Different workout equipment. Differooms to do different types of workouts. Also a track you can run, walk, jog. Just don't go before 8:30 am. May be crowding with training.

How does the only on-post gym that’s open on the weekends have only 3 squat racks, with no stand alone deadlifting platforms? They recently re organized and actually got rid of squat racks. Used to be more than 3 but they decided treadmills on the main floor and machine equipment (which used to be upstairs) was more important. The only dumbbell area has plenty of weights but only has room for about 7 people/benches. There is only one cable machine. Massive building with plenty of potential but the space and priorities for the weight room are completely mismanaged. And now instead of going to a real gym like Waller or Garcia, those of us that are serious about fitness have to suffer every weekend at this garbage gym.

Saw a concerning flyer about a dude filming other dudes in the shower. Gyms shouldn’t be stomping grounds for the sexually immoral, yet, they are, even on military bases. I guess people haven’t figured out how to do things consensually, even though the Army has a decades-long campaign geared towards consent.

Aside from that, I would’ve given the gym a solid 3 or 4 stars for simply being what it is. At least they put up the notice from CID.

💪🌿 5 Stars — The Ivy Gym: where the mats are clean, the vibes are caffeinated, and we somehow show up at 5AM like it’s a normal thing humans do. Shoutout to my workout buddy for dragging me out of bed when I was emotionally committed to quitting fitness forever. We crushed it, complained the whole time, and somehow still high-fived at the end. Muscles? Sore. Spirits? Questionable. Regrets? Zero.

Went to this gym for the first time. Disappointment to say the least. The civilian staff seem to be doing their jobs but the military personnel who are staffed there are lazy and don’t seem to be doing their jobs. They don’t even restock the wipes to clean the equipment. Instead they have a roll of toilet paper and a spray bottle. Toilet paper is just messy and shreds to pieces

Ivy Physical Fitness Center – A Solid Gym with One Big Letdown

If you’re looking for a gym on Fort Carson that has just about everything you need for a great workout, Ivy Physical Fitness Center is the place to be. With a wide variety of equipment, plenty of space, and something for every type of athlete, this facility is a go-to spot for soldiers, families, and fitness enthusiasts alike.

The Good Stuff

This gym has options—and lots of them. Whether you’re into weightlifting, cardio, functional fitness, or sports, Ivy’s got you covered. The free weight area is well-stocked with barbells, dumbbells, and squat racks, so you don’t have to fight over equipment like it’s a post-PT formation at the DFAC. The cardio section is loaded with treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes for those looking to get their heart rate up.

For those who prefer functional fitness, the turf area and rig setup offer a great space for CrossFit-style workouts, sled pushes, and bodyweight training. And if sports are your thing, the basketball courts, indoor track, and racquetball courts provide great alternatives to the usual gym routine.

The Not-So-Great

Now, let’s talk about the biggest letdown—the pool. Ivy has a solid aquatic facility, but unfortunately, it’s been closed for what feels like an eternity due to staffing shortages. If you were hoping to get some laps in, do some low-impact recovery work, or just cool off after a brutal leg day, you’re out of luck. It’s frustrating, especially since a lot of people rely on swimming for fitness and rehabilitation.

Final Verdict

Overall, Ivy Physical Fitness Center is one of the best gyms on Fort Carson when it comes to equipment variety and workout options. If you’re into lifting, running, or sports, you’ll have everything you need. But if you were hoping to hit the pool, you might want to start practicing patience—or find another way to stay cool.

4/5 stars—great gym, but someone, please hire some lifeguards!

Got kicked out of the gym today because I was in the childcare area working out. I finished my workout early because I didn't want to deal with it.

I saw other people using it yesterday at 0500 in the morning. So I guess I'm just the one they decided to call out.

Very discouraged, I get up early during the week to be at the gym by 5am. Unfortunately, I have not been able to enjoy the sauna after. Doors open and sauna is off. I have spoke with many staff some say they will note, or talk to someone. Others say to turn it on myself, with permission from manager “supposedly”. Don’t mind the blue sticky note that says otherwise, when brought up to staff. I was told I wouldn’t be penalized. Unfortunately, when I have it’s not warm enough after my workout. I am on a tight schedule as I work off post and have to still go home shower and drive into the heart of Colorado Springs before 8am. It’s just very frustrating and have never had issues with staff, communication or even having request filled, at Drum or anywhere else. I’m thankful for the gym, but it’s pointless when you can’t enjoy the amenities that they say they offer. Including the pool, which is always closed!

Purely talking about the basketball courts. You can tell the staff are lazy and petty. They leave volleyball nets up even though people would like to play basketball. Give attitude as well. Not sure when the last time the courts were cleaned, but I've been to other gyms, and it turns out you just clean it when people don't use the courts. Sweeping is not cleaning it. When you touch the floor your hands turn a different color. It is pretty crazy how a facility just doesn't really care, even though it offers things other facilities don't. I get we are on Army post, but why is the only indoor basketball facility treated with so much disrespect, and the staff treat it as a inconvenience?

Nice building, nice newer equipment, decent cable availability. Plenty of cardio machines. Plenty of natural light. It is just unfortunate that whoever designed the layout of this gym fell very short. Most of this is in the free weight area which is a disaster. Benches are very limited, adjustable benches even more so. Don’t come here if you are on a time crunch.

The pool staff is so rude and this lady Tiana, she was cussing me out very disrespectful to me and she kicked me out the pool and I feel like that’s not fair. If I’m paying money to be there, I should be able to stay for as long as I want, but she basically kicked me out for not swimming enough like I was sitting down, trying to air dry and let my phone charge and then she kicked me out. She was like hey you just can’t sit here that long without going in the pool and then she kicked me out and I was like well if I pay to be here I could stay as long as I want and then we were just going back-and-forth and she started getting loud causing a scene and like she started cussing at me and just overall my experience at the IVY pool not good and I would like to talk to a manager or staff auntie Tiana counter days and I know most of you are going to think well the pool was closing. It was 1 o’clock and the pool closes at six.

Listen for the new comers trying to find this place on Maps - it’s not 6415 Specker Ave / it’s 1925 Specker Ave - My Maps kept sending me to “The Hubs” - saying that I have arrived - than also watch out for a million One Way streets - learned the hard way. By the way - no sign outside saying that the building is called Ivy Physical Fitness Center, that’s also annoying.

Really nice gym. It gets crowded fast though sometimes. It’d be great if the gym bro’s realized that the benches aren’t for their personal belongings.

I know I’m a little lady but I’d like to be able to lift just like everyone else. Having to wait for some dude to stop lifting next to an empty bench because he’s using it to “hold his phone” is freaking dumb.

As another reviewer previously stated, this is the planet fitness of gyms on base. If you don't understand this comment, then don't worry about it because chances are you will like this gym.

It's such a tragedy to see so much nice space not getting utilized to its fullest potential. To true-lifters out there new to the base, only come here on your rest days or for cardio. Otherwise, go to the Waller gym while McKibben is closed for renovation.

When you walk into this gym for the first time you will laugh and shake your head at how incredibly small this gyms weight room is compared to the size of the gym itself.

Three stars are for incompetent layout of this gym and all of the space it is currently wasting.

This gym has all that a fit person would need or want, but the free weight area is very small and mostly over crowned. There are many other rooms for cardio, cycling, wall climbing, swimming, kettle bells, basketball, and trx if desired. It gets busy just after 3 or so until close, but it gets the job done. Get there and check it out to see if it fits your style of gym.

This is a very nice gym! The equipment is well maintained. I use this gym as my daily gym. That I go to at least 4 times a week. If equipment is being used that I would like to use, I usually don't have to wait more than 5 minutes to use it. The flow of traffic there is pretty steady unless you go really early I the morning or late at night.

I believe the base as a whole can help to improve the time access to at least one of the gyms on post.

There are a few issues they would have to resolve before making this specific gym a 24/7 gym.

1. Do you give access to the gym after hours by using an access code or a scanner to scan an idea code for access through the main door.

2: Have your 24-hour clients watch a safety video and sign a waiver about after hour access and the specific rules that are in place during after hours.

3. Are personnel being monitored when going in and out of the facility to ensure people aren't giving access to individuals who should have access? All personnel have to scan their individual card to get access. If you let someone else in under your access code, they should lose the right to access the gym after hours.

4. Are there enough CCTV cameras installed in the facility to ensure all personnel are being recording during after hours to protect all the customers attending the gym?

5. Can this facility close/lock up specific areas of the facility so that no one has access to these areas for safety concerns. Such as the pool and locker rooms. You don't need to shower or potentially have areas open that don't have camera access after hours. Cameras should not be in any bathroom, of course. However, during the day, there is naturally a steady flow of traffic in lockers, which deters people from committing violent acts. After hours, there should be an individual bathroom that is accessible not an entire locker room.

6. Staff is still present during the day to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.

7. Staff doesn't have to be present during holidays, but at least personnel who would like to attend the gym can still have access without needing staff present.

8. Will there be enough equipment access during 24-hour operations for people to attend? Enough bikes tread mills weight and so fourth.

Other military installations/bases run a 24-hour gym. Why aren't MWR's passing along rule books and regulations to how their operation is ran with other installations/bases?

Military fitness center. Good combination of traditional weights and cardio to Cross Fit style equipment. Has pretty much everything you would need from cardio equipment (bike, elliptical, rower, treadmill, stair climber) to the niche Assault Treadmill and Jacob's Ladder (4 stars for being inoperable). Several other rooms for classes like Spin, and cross fit style workouts with kettlebells, dumbells, TRX bands. Racketball court, swimming pool, and an outdoor area with scaffolding for Ninja Warrior workouts and several squat racks and hex bars for deadlifts, etc, but not suitable during cold weather. Also climbing wall that I never see anyone using because you have to call a number to sign up for a class at a different gym to get certified, otherwise I would use that thing all the time. Indoor track upstairs with 9 laps per mile and more cardio machines. 4 stars also because although they added several weight racks for squat and deadlit they recently got rid of many other machines that used the pulley system for controlled lifting like leg press, hamstring curl, extension, ab/adductors, etc. They only have one Hammer Strength leg press, and no specific Hammer Strength for bench press (only incline/decline press) which seem to always be occupied. Hopefully they acquire other Hammer Strength machines so they have two of each. When it's crowded you can't get on any machines at all. Dress.code is not enforced whatsoever. People wear all manner of crazy, revealing outfits. Last night there was a guy using free weight, flexing in the mirror, wearing sandals. Flagrant safety violation and would certainly lead to injury. I didn't say anything because he then he wouldnt learn anything...people like that only learn the hard way because eventually he will crush his foot and be a non-deployable on profile. Leaders need to disseminate common sense to their Soldiers. The gym staff are civilians and other than sitting there making sure you scanned your ID they are not engaged whatsoever.

If your complaining about it to crowded, I would suggest you stop standing around and making excuses for not exercising.

It's okay. The sauna in the females locker room has been closed for MONTHS, the males sauna works just fine. They got like ten people "working" the front desk who just sit there and watch you workout the entire time. They're rude and dont even acknowledge you when you come in to sign in. I've been to other gyms on base and this is the only gym that the constantly rush you out of. As soon as 9 pm hits their countdown starts , every little while "the gym is closing in one hour , please finish up your workout and rerack your weights. The gym is closing in 30 minu tes please finish your workout, the gym is closing in 20 minutes. Its ridiculous we can tell time, we know what time the gym closes. Other gyms on base dont make any announcements at all and let you workout in peace.for how big the gym is the space is not utilized , the free weight center is crammed into a corner and only has about 5 benches. whoever manages the gym just seems to be absent

Stays pretty busy but it's clean and has good equipment. As well as an indoor pool.
