I am updating my review from six months ago when I was new to the practice. You can see my original review below.

I am so committed to this practice and I look forward to every class. I still really appreciate the way it tunes me into my body on such a subtle level and the nervous system re-set, but it's also important for me to say that my shoulders are better, my right knee is WAY better, my hips are better, my feet are better, and even my trigger finger is better (from the hand work). This practice is a lovely, conscious, calming, theraputic and healing approach to meeting restriction and pain. I can't recommend it enough. I am so glad it has come into my life. If you are intrigued at all, take advantage of the ridiculously reasonable 3-class intro and try it for yourself. It's really transformative!

INITIAL REVIEW
Kaiut Yoga Highlands is a wonderful studio with a wonderful instructor.

To be honest, I am not really a fan of yoga, but this isn't like any yoga I've ever taken before. First of all, it is not fitness yoga, it is therapeutic yoga, which is a whole different ballgame. It is very subtle, with very subtle poses and is more about tuning in and meeting our restrictions than trying to achieve some ideal yoga pose.

I first started attending because I had knee and shoulder issues and someone had recommended trying Kaiut (which I had never heard of) so I signed up for the three intro classes. In my first class, the movements were so subtle, I made a joke that I had done nothing but lie on a bolster and wondered why I felt so tried. In my second class, two different people commented about how much it had helped them. One said that her chronic hip pain had disappeared and the other that her low back was so much better she could hardly believe it. I was quite hopeful and encouraged by that so I decided to keep coming.

For me, however, what has really stuck out is the deep nervous system re-set that I experience each time I go. I am usually pretty buzzy and always in my head, but this is a deep sinking into the body, into presence, and into a deep state of peace that I am normally unfamiliar with. A truly altered state for me, which isn't just in class, but has started to seep into other areas of my life.

For a while, I was saying that I hadn't noticed any difference in my shoulders (my main reason for going) but that I didn't even care because of the deep nervous system relaxation, but lately I have noticed that my shoulders, which are still quite limited for sure . . . but I no longer walk around with constant pain. So already THAT has shifted, which is exciting. And a guy in one of my classes said that he thought he'd have to have a shoulder replacement, but now his shoulders are great and he has full range of motion . . . so I'm looking forward to that in my future. But I want to even appreciate my present, where my shoulders do not hurt all the time, despite their restriction.

I also want to say that I am a person who is not that tuned into her body, but is most often in her head, yet the ways I'm able to tune in during class, to hold awareness, to meet the restrictions, to be able to differentiate my aversion to discomfort and my stories about discomfort versus my actual experience when I tune in, is kind of extraordinary. It's been quite an experience on that level as well.

I want to mention Laura, the instructor and studio owner, who is just lovely. She is rather quiet and unassuming, but deeply knowledgeable, deeply intuitive and aware, and is able to give an incredible level of individual attention and awareness to each student in a class. And her ability to advise the most subtle shifts, tiny adjustments, that make a big difference, is kind of amazing. She has been through her own journey of healing and it shows very much in her approach.

In closing I will say: Take advantage of the three-class introductory offer and come have the experience for yourself.

It is definitely an experience worth having and may be the beginning of whole new journey of body awareness, presence and healing.

Kaiut Yoga is a welcome surprise after years of more strenuous Iyengar & Vinyassana practice. When you need a restorative nervous system reset or are in any pain, check out Laura's classes in Lohi. She is a calm, resolute & experienced guide to the Kaiut method. Especially helpful for those who tend to run in 5th gear all the time. Legs up the wall is more than what it seems! Glad you are in our neighborhood to fill a needed gap in the yoga world in your beautiful and soothing studio.

I have been practicing at Kaiut Yoga Highlands for almost a year. Laura is an experienced, dedicated and delightful teacher. She expertly guides her students through each class with clarity and good humor. The yoga itself is unlike anything I've practiced before, it is both challenging and accessible. I leave each class feeling stronger, lighter and more spacious. Laura has created a beautiful, calm and inviting space in which to practice.

New to Denver, I was looking for a new studio to go home. In the wellness field as a dietitian and yoga instructor for the last 20 year I've been curious about Kaiut and was excited to see there was a place centrally located I could check out. The studio is beautiful-simple, chic, new and clean. What makes this studio so special is the owner Laura who teaches all the classes. She's kind, knowledgeable, warm, welcoming and passionate. Her energy is very special. She went above and beyond to make me feel at home and gave me a lot of personal attention. So grateful this studio is here!

I have done a lot of yoga over the years. None has come close to this. Though no words can accurately describe this complex and unusual practice, the closest I can come to is this:
This type of yoga is like if meditation were done for you. From the first session, it provided me with physical healing and nervous system release. Try it once and see for yourself.

Laura, the teacher is kind, attentive and passionate. She is warm and welcoming, and provides everything you need.
I could not recommend it more.
