I’ve seen a couple of rehab specialists in the past, and it’s easy to say that Ian is by far the best. Instead of just fighting my symptoms, he was able to diagnose the root issue—and more impressively, explain it to me. Starting from my symptoms, we traced everything back to certain weaknesses, tightness, and habitual actions that were causing the problem. That gave me a clear understanding of why I’m doing the specific exercises.

Ian is very skilled trainer who really helped me to work through my lower back pain. He's encouraging and very knowledgable. He helped to make the gym a less intimidating place for me, and I built up confidence to strength train without injuring myself. I can't recommend working with Ian enough!

This is Susan Garsoe writing under Tim's Google post. I started working with Ian four months after my total knee replacement. I had already had one knee replaced, one hip replacement, and a shoulder reconstruction. (I also have to have the other hip replaced.) I dragged into the training center feeling stressed about my recovery and my general well-being. Ian made me well. I got stronger, had better energy, and the stress went away. He knows so much, and has a great ability to figure out when something doesn't work just right, and makes a subtle change that works. Ian gave me a really good set of home exercises that will keep me strong. The studio is wonderful: full of light, good music, and a great view of the mountains. And of course, Ian. I am 75 years old with osteoarthritis, and I am full of optimism. Thank you Ian. I will recommend you to anyone, for anything.

Ian is knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. He was fundamental in eliminating my low back pain. Together we discovered why I had pain, and Ian educated me about how to eliminate it. I would highly recommend Ian and MTC to anyone witch chronic pain looking for a reliable solution.

I originally went to Ian a couple years ago with a repetitive stress injury to my shoulder. We worked it hard for several months and I made a full recovery, and was enjoying what I was learning so much that I've stuck with him for regular weekly training. It's worth it to me to budget into my annual healthcare and maintenance.
I was a pretty typical person in the gym, prior, doing my own thing, but kind of with no real framework. I had never worked on basics like ankle and hip stability, mindfully. I can say with confidence my whole body is stronger and more balanced and in a good place. It's not about being huge or lookin' swole (at 43, for me), it's about moving well and feeling good and creating true, grounded strength. Highly recommend.

I worked with 3 trainers over several years prior to coming to Momentum--all were good, but Ian Merrin is in a league of his own. He has a remarkable depth of knowledge regarding anatomy and the mechanics of motion. He is excellent diagnostically when presented with specific symptoms, and he designs workouts tailored to restore function. He demonstrates exercises clearly and watches closely, always making subtle corrections to form. He is unfailingly prepared for each session, with a routine planned ahead of time. However, he is flexible in his approach, and adapts the day's plan if there are any new concerns. Personally, Ian is a pleasure; he is a really fine individual--direct, engaging, warm, humorous and always present.

Ian has been instrumental in getting me back to feeling strong and healthy but more importantly allowing me to do the things I love. I’ve been working with Ian for a year now after dealing with knee pain for a year and a half. My physical therapist had recommended Ian as the next step to helping me navigate my knee issues to allow me to run, hike, etc. Ian’s training is highly personalized and ever evolving. Every work out is highly tailored to my specific issues and needs. He is very aware of what my goals are and constantly adjusts to help me get back to being active. He seeks out ways to work around any issues that arise and constantly challenges me. Every work out I leave feeling stronger but never pushed to an unsafe limit. Ian has a vast knowledge base that extends well beyond simple strength training. His work outs are created to help you function the best you can in daily life and whatever activities you are involved in. His attitude is always positive and upbeat. Even when I come in exhausted from work Ian gets me motivated to work hard. I highly recommend Ian if you are looking for a highly knowledgeable , personable, and committed trainer.

I was referred to Ian at MTC by my physical therapist. I have been working with him for over a month. I am blown away at his knowledge of the body and how it should function. I have seen great progress in my injuries and life in my short time there. He’s also a ton of fun and motivating to work with. Highly recommend!!!!

Came in and saw Ian as for a consultation about shoulder pain that I had been experiencing for a little over a week. In a 30 minute session He managed to not only relieve the pain but I haven't experienced it since. I've know Ian for a hot minute, he's a good dude who knows what he's talking about. I definitely recommend him and his staff.

I have been training with Ian for about three months now. He is a super knowledgeable trainer, and meets his clients at their level. I have been a runner for many years, consistently facing overuse injuries. Ian has really helped me figure out the root of those problems and given me the exercises to overcome them. I've been working with Ian, the owner and main trainer at Momentum, for 6 months now, and plan to continue. I find him to be an incredibly knowledgeable, personable, competent, and motivating person. A top sports physical therapist in the area recommended him to me, saying that Ian himself knows more about movement than most physical therapists. After working with him, I can't disagree. Ian is good at imparting his very detailed understanding to me. More importantly, he's helped me make significant progress on my fitness goals and successfully rehab some minor but functionally complex chronic injuries that I've dealt with for years prior. Ian has his own gym with all the necessary equipment for private training sessions -- especially nice during a pandemic. I would recommend him to anyone looking for personal training.

Results Driven
The trainers here are results driven. The proof is in the pudding and the pudding is in the eating. There is an initial assessment and/or ultimate goals to determine the path forward. From there, the general path is defined. This path is deviated from as progress goes on, sometimes revisiting issues as they appear. The technical expertise and investment/care put into their clients is unsurpassed. This is genuinely the best methodology for expeditious personal progress.
Is it "expensive"? by most standards, yes. Is it worth it? unequivocally: absolutely. The best investment you can make is in yourself, and this place pays dividends. And this is absolutely an investment. Additionally, they are quite competitively priced amongst similar services. If youre interested in the best without top-tier pricing, this is the place for you.
I couldnt be happier here. The progress ive been able to make here thus far surpasses my expectations. I feel like my trainer is 100% on my team and the money I pay is not the primary interest. They are sincerely interested in my success. Not just my trainer; everybody. Even while Im there, they bounce ideas off of each other to more precisely and effectively generate results.
I cant say enough about this place. See for yourself. Like I said: Proof is in the pudding. Have a taste for yourself and you wont be disappointed.

I was looking for a convenient location to workout at in CO Springs while I was there on business. This gym has everything you would need and more. They have a very knowledgeable training staff and an overall very energized environment that’s great for that pick-me-up needed while on the road.

As a chiropractor, it is difficult to find trainers that I am confident will not injure patients in pain or overwork them. Ian, Becca, and Luke all do a great job with pushing you just enough to get increases in function without big flare ups. They are fantastic trainers!

I started working with Becca in 2014 while going through a divorce. I was an emotional mess and had never done much weight training, or any training, for that matter. Becca met me right where I was at in my life and has become more to me than a Personal Trainer. Becca cares about her clients and desires for us probably more than we desire for ourselves, most of the time. You will not find a more down to earth and dedicated Personal Trainer than Becca. She is smart, witty, and kind. I learned real quick to make sure I never said, "I can't" because she will make sure I do! Becca is pure heart and soul!!

When I first met Becca 4 ½ years ago, I had recently gone through a divorce which rendered me 35 pounds lighter and mentally a literal mess. I wasn’t eating, I wasn’t sleeping and I couldn’t concentrate at work. I decided I needed to do something to turn my life around and Becca entered my life as my personal trainer. Becca’s balanced approach and personal attention to personal training intrigued me. She stressed strength training along with cardio but said equally important was the awareness of nutrition (clean eating). Within a relatively short time, I was building muscle and my mental faculties were returning to normal. Becca got me into the best shape of my life. Fast forward to today and I’m still working out with Becca as she continues to motivate me to be the BEST ME! Ian Merrin has been my personal trainer for nearly 4 years.
He assesses each client and builds an individualized program which is continually evolving as progress is made. His workouts are one of a kind and are designed based upon the personal needs of the client. These are not cookie cutter / found-on-YouTube / health magazine training session workouts. He comes prepared to train the unique individual.

I have been training under Becca for 8 months and not to be over-dramatic, but it has been truly life changing. I have been training with Becca for about 2 years now, and LOVE the new space! She is always available to answer questions, is patient, and doesn't judge. She offers recovery support, nutritional advice, as well as helps me figure out what exercises I should do at home / at the gym to help me reach my goals. While I see Becca, I would recommend any trainer at Momentum! The atmosphere is so much better than any other training facility I've been too - they really make you feel like a part of a family rather than a general client.

After having physical therapy for hip pain, I was fearful of getting hurt again. I needed guidance. That's when I started training with Ian. He has extensive knowledge of body structure and functions. He is so kind and patient in teaching me proper form while challenging me to do more than I think I can. As a result, I'm stronger, more flexible, have better balance, and a much improved walk. I'm looking forward to gaining more confidence and further improvement with Ian.
