I trained with George, on-line, for a couple of years. I started training with him when I was 66 years old. Before George, I had some success on my own but I needed help with pushing past my plateaus of building strength, range of motion, and weight stability.
I have on-going arthritis in almost every major joint, multiple knee surgeries, and both right and left total shoulder replacements. I needed someone with the insight of body mechanics and knowledge to guide me with new exercises without the setback of injuries. George was the key to my success.
At 68 years old, with George's skillful guidance, I was able to deadlift my body weight and squat 100 lbs. George gave me the inner confidence to move from the fear of not being able to perform the lifts to wanting to do more.
This new inner voice and confidence went beyond the gym, it flowed over into my personal life. The confidence I got at the gym, pushed me to expand my life in hiking, traveling, and just being more productive and happy in my life.
George gave me balance in the gym and my personal life. Don't let surgeries or distance be a reason not to work out with Onyx. When people would ask me how I did it, I would say George. Everyone needs a "George" in their life. Best gym decision I ever made.
Update as of 12 Nov 2025:
Today was the day of very good news. Before working with George, I was headed down the road of osteoporosis. I had been tagged with osteopenia. Today, my bone density scan was awesome news. With George's help, and good nutrition, I am now out of osteopenia with an T-score that has me grinning from ear to ear. Thank you again George!

i started training with george, in the fall of 2024 so about a year now. i hired george because i needed help keeping up with the well being of my body to ensure i could perform all of my duties on and off the clock without any pain or discomfort. on top of that i’ve always struggled with my overall confidence in life as far as being uncomfortable in my own body. But with his help i achieved just that and i’m able to go about my daily life pain free and confident i can carry out any task given to me!

I have been personal training with Danielle for a combined 7 years! I have experienced my very best results with her coaching style and education in fitness. I absolutely LOVE the functional and corrective training methods that are designed to have my body function at its peak performance.
I initially started training with her because I struggled with my weight and accountability. When I was on, I was on, but when I was off, I was off. Having a trainer has helped me stay consistent with my health and fitness in a way I could not do on my own. I stay training with her because I know her number one priority is my health and overall fitness. She always knows what my body needs, and I fully entrust her to do her job. It is a breath of fresh air not to have to think about what I need to do in the two hours per week I spend with her.

Onyx Functional Fitness completely changed my fitness journey! I have been training with Danielle since 2023, originally to address some hip and shoulder instability I was experiencing in my dancing.

I’m proud to say Danielle has been my Personal Coach for going on 14 years. I’m 55 years old and have always taken my health & fitness very seriously. Without question, I have never felt better, and I’m in better shape now than I was 25 years ago since beginning my fitness journey with Danielle. Here is my story on how I met Danielle and George, and how Onyx Functional Fitness has positively impacted my overall wellbeing.
From my late 20s through mid-30s, I experienced chronic lower back pain. I have always been a very active person, which included playing sports in addition to having a physically demanding career at that time of my life. During this time, I had several episodes of extreme back pain that would require me to wear a brace just to get through the day. I could barely walk, and an MRI revealed a bulging disk in my L5/S1 vertebrae, and this had been a developing issue for years as it turns out. A few orthopedic doctors recommended surgery, but surgery should always be a last resort, so I decided to look at better options.
A co-worker at the time who witnessed my struggle suggested I meet and consult with her Personal Coach for some advice. This turned out to be Danielle, and she and George were both trainers at 24 Hour Fitness at that time. Danielle recognized my challenges right away, and we sat down to discuss the best functional fitness program for me.
Beginning with my first training session, I learned about the Kinetic Chain, and how the body’s joints and muscles work together to perform movements. My back started feeling more stable with core focus, mobility, and strength routines she designed for me. Now, without any surgery, I no longer wake up with back pain, and I’m doing exercises such as squats, that I thought I would never be able to do again.
When Danielle and George opened their gym Onyx Functional Fitness, it was an easy decision to follow them over. They invest in first-rate equipment, always keep the gym incredibly clean, and have a more private setting without the crowds you find at the bigger gym chains, which greatly enhances the personal coaching experience.

I hurt my achilles tendon badly from overtraining in Muay Thai. I went to an orthopedic doctor AND a sports trainer here in Los Angeles. After 2 months, there was still no improvement. At this point, I was scared I would never be able to run or do high intensity work outs again.
Luckily, a friend recommended me to George. We did all of our sessions over FaceTime video. Within 2 months, the pain had completely gone away.
2 months after that, George had me back at training.
What was most impressive about George is that, I thought I only had an issue with my achilles, but he uncovered that I had imbalances in my hips, back, and shoulder.
Now that I am back in training, I move SO much more fluid and am much stronger than I was previously.
I was so impressed with my results that I have referred nearly 5 of my friends to George already and they all are having amazing results.
George is truly a secret weapon. If you are facing any kind of serious injury or you want to take your performance to the next level, George is your guy.

I have been training with Danielle since 2015. At that time, I was training to climb Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, Africa. Because of her training, I was able to accomplish that goal. I have been training with her ever since. Through her kinetic training, my health has improved dramatically. Before I started kinetic training with Danielle, I needed steroid shots in my hip every 4-6 months, but not anymore. I highly recommend Danielle. Not only is she a very knowledgeable, extremely capable trainer, but also a kind and caring person.

I began training with George in April 2024 after herniating and rupturing a disc in my lower back for the second time. I was in constant pain and extremely frustrated, especially because I thought I had been doing everything right to protect my back (beginner Pilates and what I believed were foolproof mobility exercises). Yet, I still ended up sidelined for weeks.
From the very first session, I knew George was different. He listened carefully, explained what we’d try, and adjusted everything based on my pain and his deep understanding of biomechanics. Unlike past trainers who pushed me too hard and too fast) causing my initial injury (George emphasized the progression needed to safely build stability, strength, and power.
Now, I never worry about reinjuring myself while training with him, and that confidence is everything. My back feels stronger, more stable, and I can move through daily life without fear. Working with George has been life-changing. Freedom from back pain is amazing, and I can’t recommend him highly enough!
