I've had an amazing journey working with Ross! His deep knowledge of exercise science and body biomechanics is exceptional, and his keen eye for detail makes all the difference—especially when it comes to problem-solving long-standing movement patterns.

As a Chiropractor with extensive experience in personal training and physical therapy, I came in with a solid foundation of knowledge—yet Ross continually expands my understanding. I learn something new in every session, and I always leave feeling inspired and better equipped in my own work.

If you're considering working with Ross, I can confidently say: you will not be disappointed.

Been working with Ross for a little over a year now and wanted to leave a review as I'm realizing I 'm making good progress and my body is in a much better place that it was a year ago. Ross has been a great trainer, really helping to focus on me not reinjuring some back problems I've had for a long time. In the past the times when my back has gone out have really sidelined me and kept me from being consistent with exercise and becoming frustrated by that. Ross is great with working with and communicating with other members of my team (Massage therapist, PT, etc) Together I've been able to be pretty consistent with my exercise, drastically reducing the time, frequency, and duration of my back issues. I've become stronger, more balanced and muscles are more supple and flexible. I'm learning more and more about how my body works and things that do and don't work for me exercise-wise. It was frustrating work at first, a bit tedious and a little hard for my brain to really communicate with certain muscles in my body but it's gotten better. For whatever reason I've been able to stick with it and make more progress with Ross than I have at any point in past to date. Thanks Ross!

Ross Meyer, and Nutritionalist Bob worked hand in hand with me 5 years ago to change my life forever. I was overweight, unmotivated chronically fatigued and in pain at 30. I almost lost my physical labor job(kitchen) due to inability to show. Ross connected me with Bob, and also saw to it that I had the exercises I needed and working with my low income in a way I will never be able to repay! I have since that time used the same strategies to keep myself at a decent weight and stay physically active. I have worked with four personal trainers and Ross Meyer exceeds all of them by a long shot. Caring, compassionate, well informed and just better than the other experiences I had.

Ross helped me out of a really challenging situation.

I was having so much upper back pain that it was hard to sit at the computer for work.

Ross helped me work on the back pain from a muscle standpoint while also referring me to a vision specialist who diagnosed a vision problem that was contributing to my bad posture at the computer. I’m happy to say I’m working and riding my bike again.

He also helped me strengthen my core and glutes to improve my overall posture. He worked with my changing needs even when my need was “This exercise isn’t enjoyable, so I don’t see myself doing it long-term. Can you help me find a different exercise?”

He is focused on helping me achieve my goals and updates my exercises to meet my changing needs.

I’d definitely recommend him.

I've never been an exercise guy, but I was experiencing pain that I couldn't resolve on my own. Ross met me where I was at, diagnosed my problem accurately and efficiently, and set me on a course for improvement that was the right level of difficulty to keep me engaged but not overwhelmed. After just a few weeks, I felt like I was able to really own my exercises in a way I never thought possible. After a few months, I saw real benefits that have sustained themselves, even with less regular exercise.

Ross, I'm so thankful I found you!

I have never worked with a personal trainer before but on advice from my Doc, I did. With a fractured 5th metatarsal and a rotator cuff tear, I felt like I was falling apart. That, on top of the "Covid 30"... Ugh.

After we spoke on the initial phone interview, I knew right away you could help me. So easy to talk to and a good listener.
I'm so glad you agreed to take me on.

You have given me the tools I need to keep moving forward with confidence and solid goals; re-training at it’s finest!
It's truly amazing how you can see a tiny movement that I am doing wrong then show me how to change it to achieve the better result. Those are my "AHHA! Wicked Good!" moments of understanding. It's clear you know EXACTLY what you're doing
in crafting these exercises and strength training routines just for me. I also appreciate you stressing to me that PAIN is not good. Don't "push through the pain"... that's old school thinking and wrong.

And, I sincerely appreciate you designing workouts that I can easily do in a hotel room, since I travel months at a time for work. Getting a new .pdf after every one of our sessions, detailing each exercise with a description, has been a great reference to help this old lady remember!

Lastly, Ross, the emotional support you offer me in the safe space of your private studio has been an unexpected but very welcome bonus. YOU have found your calling ROSS MEYER!
And I'm glad I found you.

Sincerely,
Debra

I started working with Ross, as I was looking for someone who knew about DNS. I had specific back issues and wanted to "train" through to a new level of flexibility and range of motion. Ross's approach was methodical, well balanced and considered all my goals. Working with Ross has been a welcomed experience and more tailored to my individual needs than any other training/trainer I have worked with.

Not all “experts” in the fitness industry are created equal and Ross is a cut above any PT or personal trainer I’ve worked with. His approach blends a deep knowledge of biomechanics with a background in functional strength training that, I believe, makes him uniquely qualified to work with clients that have been let down by “cookie cutter” training modalities in the industry. In my case Ross is helping me navigate through a long-standing knee injury. We’ve developed a plan for me to gain the strength required to alleviate the problem while he helps me stay engaged and patient thru that process (supporting me in staying diligent without pushing things too hard and risking aggravating the problem).

He’s an A+ trainer but, just as importantly, is an equally excellent human being. Ross brings a welcoming and friendly attitude to every session and shows he cares about his clients success in a way that is all too rare in the industry. Not feeling 100% on a given day? Don’t worry about it. Ross will meet you exactly “where you are” to make sure it’s productive; he’s never overbearing but will still be direct when my form could improve or I have room to progress on a certain exercise. I can’t recommend Ross highly enough.

Ross has been the light at the end of a long tunnel. Ross came highly recommended by a close friend who listened to my many frustrations on the road to recovery from two PAO surgeries on my right hip. While anatomically I look great, the outcome left me in more pain than prior to surgeries.

Thankfully, I have Ross. We are in the process of reprogramming my body and dissolving some of the sneaky habits I’ve developed throughout my life that enable me to compensate for everyday functional movements. Ross is supporting me in rebuilding a strong foundation, which has allowed me to partake in the activities I love with significantly less pain. The BEST part is because of Ross’s expertise, I don’t foresee another surgery on either of my hips in the future.

With Ross’s knowledge, close observations of my body’s movements, and personalized program I know I will feel better than I did before surgeries. I look forward to repairing other old injuries and continuing to improve my overall strength, mobility, and awareness.

Training with Ross has been wonderful. In my experience, most trainers come with a set program that that they have developed and try to fit their client into that. Ross is the complete opposite. He listens to and analyzes his clients to gain a deep understanding of their needs, wants and movement patterns. Based on that understanding and his wealth of knowledge, he builds a highly personalized program best suited to their goals. The best part is as you grow the plan grows with you. Life is not static, so why should your training be. I came to Ross complaining about a knee issue. Not only did he work with me to improve my stability and strength in relation to my knee but through conversation and observation he was able to understand my greater needs as an active over fifty want to be athlete as well. I look forward to our sessions. Yes, each one is an opportunity to grow and gain a deeper understanding of my body but they are also just fun. He also plays the best music.

Training with Ross has been BY FAR the best personal training experience I've ever had. He starts by gaining a deep understanding of what's going on for you and your body, then gradually introduces the movements, stretches, etc that will have the biggest impact for YOU. His training is very personalized with just the right amount of coaching and guidance.

As a middle-aged man who's led an active life, I've lived with certain aches and pains for decades. Many trainers and practitioners of all kinds have attempted to help, but Ross is the first person who has made a real, lasting difference. This is the best I've felt in many years!

Having worked one-on-one with two previous personal trainers, I can say from experience that Ross's approach is in a league of its own. Ross has taken the time to understand my body's movement history and habits, and has built a highly personalized, ground-up program for rebuilding core strength and re-wiring the way my muscles and joints work together. After 20 years of lower back issues, I can deadlift with confidence and a full understanding of what I'm doing. Outside of the gym, I walk, hike, and move through daily life differently as a result. My body is truly learning safer, stronger, more optimal ways of functioning on every level. At age 52, that change is not a given, and no small accomplishment. I recommend Ross to anyone serious about making lasting, sustainable change to their physical health and vitality.

Ross is by far the best trainer I have ever worked with. Referred to me by a friend, I reached out to Ross in need of help for chronic back pain, due to residual effects of a spinal fusion and two pregnancies. The results I have experienced in just a few short months speak for themselves. I am stronger, see positive physical changes, and I am learning how to move pain-free, not only with exercise but throughout everyday life.

After doing a thorough assessment in our early sessions, and continuous ongoing assessments, Ross provides a movement and exercise program specific to what my body needs. What I truly love, which no other trainer has done, is his encouragement to stay close to how my body feels with every movement. I have never been so in tune with where the work is happening and how each individual movement makes me feel overall. He re-trains the body with progressive movement, so that the body adapts seemingly very naturally to the exercise over time.

I couldn't recommend Ross enough to anyone looking to get stronger & pain-free with intentional exercise. He's professional, kind, incredibly knowledgeable and truly cares about the success of his clients.

Working with Ross has been fantastic for me. After lots of injuries, including spinal fusion, multiple fractures, and general hard living, Ross has been able to re-train many of the functional issues I've struggled with. The partnership I have with Ross is very different than with a 'trainer' in a gym or other training studios. Ross is incredibly knowledgeable about physiology, movement, and how different types of goals require different techniques. His experience and his ability to communicate really set him apart from the multitude of other trainers I've worked with. The best review I can give is that I look forward to my training sessions with him and to the program I do at home. I'm stronger, more flexible, and have a better understanding of the why and the proper mechanics of my exercises. Highest recommendation for Ross and his system!

I started seeing Ross in the spring of 2019 after moving to Boulder. I have a pretty active life, but deal with chronic pain. After years of working with other fitness trainers, I needed someone who would be able to help me get stronger AND do it in a safe and sustainable way. I cannot say enough positive things about how great it has been to work with Ross: he challenges me with exercises and gives me tools to improve my fitness in a sustainable and well-rounded way. Plus, he is just a stellar human being. If it were possible to give more than 5 stars, I would.

I started training with Ross Meyers approximately 10 weeks ago and am already feeling positive results from his training approach and recommended exercises . When interviewing trainers, I expressed that my intent was not to “bulk up” but rather achieve more flexibility and reduced pain in my joints. Rather than a “no pain, no gain” approach, Ross’s program is based more on a “no pain is gain” approach. He explains the purpose of each exercise and it’s relationship to the muscular and skeletal composition of my body. No previous trainer with whom I have worked has ever verbalized the kinesthetic relationship to a suggested exercise. Ross has a deep understanding of the muscular and skeletal nature of the human body and creates a pain free exercise routine that addresses a client’s particular needs. I enjoy working with Ross and appreciate his weekly summarizations of our session and exercise suggestions. I find myself looking forward to exercising at home and experiencing renewed flexibility. I trust Ross and his training philosophy because exercising without pain is a new and rewarding experience for. I plan to continue working with Ross until my goals are reached. His approach works!!

I have had multiple surgeries and physical limitations due to injuries and ongoing stress to my body over he years. I am 65 years old. I have used multiple types of trainers but Ross is amongst the best. He is very in tune with keeping by body painless while putting me through exercises to strengthen my core, shoulders, legs, and every body part. He is very specific in his direction, clear and takes the time to explain what he is doing and why. The practise builds on itself and over time you really feel the difference. It is not like any other type of training I've done. It starts with the smallest muscles and movements and builds to an entire body workout.
Whether you have had injuries like me, or just need someone to listen and direct you to better physical condition, Ross is the guy you need. I was in a wheel chair a year ago recovering from a spinal column injury. Many never thought I'd walk, let alone do what I do today. Traditional trainers pushed me to the point where my body was resisting and breaking down. I found myself in pain an having to chose between a workout and discomfort. Ross is very careful to avoid the pain, and to direct the proper method of training to maximize the results and avoid the body breakdown. I am a couple months into the program and I already feel the difference. Ross is re-teaching me to move, stand, and exercise and has effectively eliminated my pain. You have to do your part, it just doesn't happen by itself, but if you are committed to improving yourself and want to be stronger and painfree, I'd give Ross a chance, I don't think you will be disapointed.

Ross's program is the single most effective approach I have taken to eliminate chronic pain. My decades-long quest included Yoga, Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Massage, Structural Integration, and Reiki, but Re-training was the only durable, steady change I've experienced.

Going to wax a bit woo woo on you here, but bear with me because it matters to why I want to work with Ross until he retires.
When I started, I had daily pain at a 4/10 or higher, that impacted my work, leisure, relationships, and sleep. When I tried other methods or workouts, I was strong enough to do them wrong, and usually ended up injured or bored. That's when I started working with Ross.

Ross assessed my actual, specific mechanics, and asked what I wanted to do with my training. I wanted the top half and the bottom half of my body to work together, and you know, I wanted my arms to be sweet.

Beginning my program felt like going back to motion preschool. I could barely lift my bodyweight in many of the moves, because I was compensating so much for these in-between muscles, that my body had to re-learn which groups do what work. It took patience and humility to stay with how beginner I was. Ross treated me with respect about it, and made sure that no matter how slowly I had to go, or how hard the work was, that I could succeed at doing my program. Then, seemingly the second I got stronger, he would change the program a little bit to give me the next bit of challenge.
There is nothing quite so motivating as realizing I can do more because I let myself be weak long enough to repair and grow my body. It felt like I was nurturing the body I'd always just expected to be better, and chastised for having pain. Until Ross introduced me to my actual structure, I didn't know I was living around myself, not through myself.

Here's the woo woo part, unapologetically. As I went back to the most basic level of what I needed to gain the strength to move forward in my body, I began to treat myself with this awareness and patience in my life, too. Sometimes that meant that exercise would bring up emotional pain that needed to be addressed; things that I had compensated for, but that truly needed diligent attention. The pelvic stability phase of my recovery brought lots of survival-type stuff with it, and thankfully, because I was able to find my own security like never before. Pain comes from somewhere, and for me, it's a mismatch between who I really am, and how I'm performing. Knowing that Ross was able and willing to kindly help me recover my body's honest truth is such a gift; I get to move now in all the strength my body has, not just what was conditioned. Think about that when it comes to life. Right? Big deal.

Plus, he's a cool guy. Ross is conscientious and kind. He tells the truth and only says what he means. He's palpably comfortable with being who and where he is, and so he can let me be who and where I am, too. It wouldn't have been possible for me to open up my body and life if I didn't feel like I could trust Ross to guide that process, and to be acutely sensitive to that I was undergoing transformation. He's keenly aware, of where I am in my physical development, of the right next challenge for my body, and of the delicate nature of relationship that gives me the space I need to grow in training.

A year plus later, I'm now lifting heavy weights, and move through my world in a more integrated, nearly pain-free way. I have needed to replace my shoes because the old movement patterns worn into them caused me pain. I've left my unhealthy marriage and changed career paths. That's tangible progress. I'm telling you, if you're ready to dedicate yourself to healing and getting stronger in every way, call Ross.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, my arms are now, in fact, sweet.

Working with Ross is different than working with other trainers because he is genuinely concerned whether an exercise or stretch is painful. He stated on numerous occasions that if an exercise is painful that there is always an alternative pain-free movement that can be substituted and will be just as beneficial. Ross is also very knowledgeable about how the muscular system works together. Recently, I was amazed how much easier lunges became after Ross had me first practice a foot/ankle exercise.

The most important benefits I've achieved from working with Ross are 1) improved posture and 2) improved coordination and balance. My posture was very rounded due to working on a computer for most of my legal career and 2) my balance became compromised after being thrown from a horse and sustaining a pelvic fracture. After training with Ross for the past eight months, I've definitely seen an improvement in both my posture and my balance. My husband even recently commented on how much straighter I stand.

First off, I hate exercise! But as I aged I realized I either get an exercise habit or loose mobility and function (I was suffering from chronic back pain and bursitis in my hips which, in addition to being painful, was keeping me from full mobility and many activities). So I started working with trainers. My initial efforts were frustrating, despite some progress, as I was searching for a program that had some customization that would factor in my specific goals. My chiropractor strongly recommended Ross Meyer Personal Re-training. This experience was completely different.
Ross differs from most because he does not run everyone through the same series of exercises. He thoughtfully analyzes an individual's needs and plans a custom program. This program changes and is modified over time based on the individual. And Ross is supportive, caring, and very knowlegable about how the body works and responds to movement. Since I was looking for relief from pain, this total focus on my specific health goals and limitations was important. I had found the custom program I had hoped to find and I am no longer in pain or limited in what I can do.
I must be difficult to please, because it all seemed too easy! I was working the changing routines he designed for me, but they were not taking a lot of time and were not causing me the discomfort that previous training programs had engendered. I did recognize my progress, but I questioned if I was being taxed enough to build real endurance. So I challenged Ross, but he always had a clear and knowledge-based reasons for each exercise, and always mindful of the physical issues that brought me to his practice.
The real test of his expertise came this month when I had a 2 week vacation hiking in the forests of the California Redwoods. My friend and I did many short hikes, but we did not want to skip the more strenuous 4.5 mile hike to the "Large Tree Groove". It has a 700 foot drop in elevation for the first 1.75 miles, then a one mile loop through the grove. But it was the 1.75 mile climb back up to the trail head that proved for me that smart exercise with a skilled professional trainer can be effective without being a miserable experience. That final 1.75 miles is 90% of strenuous climbing up. I was able to climb that final 1.75 miles rather briskly and without any pain. My friend, who is 8 years younger and an enthusiastic hiker, declared she would never attempt such a hike again! Did I mention I am 72 years old? On returning I apologized to Ross for ever doubting his methods. I consider them well tested and proven to be all he promised. And I want others to hear about this very talented and caring professional trainer especially if one is searching for a healthy remedy for pain relief.

Working with Ross has changed my life. I am no longer in the pain I was, and if the old pains do happen to crop up, I now have strategies (exercises, from Ross) for feeling better. I used to think feeling pain was part of aging; I now know aging can actually translate to "re-training" my body: less pain, more confidence, greater peace of mind. Moreover, Ross not only is incredibly knowledgeable, but also has a clear communication style; a wonderful sense of humor; and the ability to listen, so he knows just how much to challenge me. I thought working with a personal trainer was just for athletes or show-offs. Then I met Ross. When I began working with him I realized everyone should have a personal trainer. I saw what I’d been missing! My body deeply took in his guidance. Now, no matter what I do, I have body memory coming from my training. Every time I walk, get in a car, get out of a car, dance, exercise and move, my body remembers. The story does not stop there. At the time I was working with him, I did not know that I had spinal surgery in my future. During my recovery I felt the benefit of my training. Ross has a much needed skill in the world of physical training/re-training because he understands the nuances of the body and how that differs for each individual. Not only does he have the knowledge to offer techniques to support a clear imbalance in the body, he is keenly aware of how to work with the intricate and neglected muscles and structures by making necessary adjustments specific to your body's imbalances and needs. I have experienced years of working with body imbalances, pain, and injury as a dancer, and have worked with a wide range of practitioners. It took me a while to learn that someone who is able to support me in working with the muscles and structures deep within is truly what aids my body into balance and optimal health. I'm talking about those areas that are often overlooked, or completely neglected in typical exercise and physical training. Ross has a gift of seeing what exists beneath the surface to support your individual physical training needs.

In addition to his skills and knowledge as a personal trainer - Ross is fun to work with! He has an amazing sense of detail, offers clear instructions and is always open to questions, feedback, and discussion. He has a great sense of humor and playfulness that adds to the sometimes challenge of the work, and is someone that is just enjoyable to spend time with. In a workshop/group setting - Ross has a capacity to care for each individual's needs and the group as a whole.

I have had over my 70+ years of living 4 foot surgeries, a total hip replacement and a repair of a full thickness tear of the supraspinatus tendon. I have been working with weights and trainers for more than 40 years In Boulder and elsewhere and can honestly say that I have never had the support, such intelligent body assessment or the results that I have experienced in working with Ross Meyer. I started with him twice a week with private sessions two plus years ago when given the go ahead by my surgeon and PT therapist. He worked with my PT conversing with them as to any potential limitations. When the shoulder repair done a year ago was post PT he also worked with the therapist regularly on range of motions issues. I am now dead lifting 80 lb kettle bells and am stronger and have better general mobility than I have ever had in my life. I am now working out with him in a small group setting twice a week and loving it. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

As a local Doctor of Physical Therapy, I have had the opportunity to work with Ross regarding multiple shared clients. Personally, I find that he fills a much needed gap in the rehab and exercise world- the space between rehabilitation and getting back to your regular routine. Since he understands pain, movement, and the human body on a deep level, he is amazing at preventing and minimizing aches and pains before they become a full blown problem.

Ross is conscientious, passionate, and very goal oriented. He has logged more continuing education and advanced weekend courses than anyone I know. More importantly, he knows how to apply this material in a systematic fashion. If you are looking for a great personal trainer, I highly recommend Ross Meyer Personal Retraining.

Ross is unlike any other trainer I've worked with. I'm a very active person and over the years have dealt with varying levels of injuries that have developed into some bad body habits. I started seeing Ross on and off for some bad low back pain but never really followed through with the complete regimen. A few months ago I got so frustrated with pain that I made the commitment to see Ross regularly. I realized I needed to start at the beginning and do the work to get my body to move the way it was designed. I should have done this a long time ago! Ross has helped me learn to move my body correctly and has reduced my pain incredibly. Working with him is easy and I look forward to my training every week. I highly recommend Ross to help build your body's strength the RIGHT way.

I met Ross when I was attending a human movement course and he immediately came across as being friendly and humble. He invited me to his facility to work on and review some of the things we learned in the class. I quickly learned that Ross legitimately knows what he’s talking about and is able to properly and simply guide you towards moving your body more efficiently. We worked on some of my movement patterns and I realized that he actually listens to, and considers, what you’re telling him and is able to interpret what you’re trying to get across!

Unfortunately, I’ll be moving out of Colorado, but if I were staying, I’d be looking to learn more and do more work with him. If you feel like your body isn’t responding as you’d like it to or you just don’t think you’re moving right, Ross is more than worth trying out. I would recommend him without hesitation!

Ross was able to quickly identify a persisting issue with my shoulder and give me exercises to fix it - quite simply, he was the facilitator. Of course I have to do the work two to three times a week to get the full benefit. That is another think I like about Ross. He told me that he was not going to "fix me", but rather show me how to fix myself. His space is clean and organized and welcoming. Ross has a great way of interacting and made me feel comfortable, gave me positive reinforcement and encouraged me. The only thing I'd like to see Ross differently is to have a more "introductory" type of visit/plan. My injury was small and it seemed like a rather large investment to work for a month or six weeks. BUT, I'm sure that is usually what it takes to get the job done. Give him a try, convince him to take you on a day to day basis and you will be happy!

After years of tight muscles and a shoulder surgery, I had pretty much accepted the idea that I would always have some level of discomfort, especially after exercise. Training with Ross has shown me that my pain is not a given. He has helped me learn to engage muscles that weren’t working properly while relaxing those that were constantly over worked or tense. I can now go for long runs without having to ice my shoulders or massage my back. Hopelessness and acceptance of pain has turned to excitement about the things I want to accomplish. I highly recommend Ross and his training. He's the best!

Ross is extremely trustworthy and knowledgable. I reached out to him when I was in pain and he sat down with me for a long time to go over all the details of my experience. He helped me understand what was going on so that I was able to make my decisions on how to best care for my health. He was also full of resources and all of his recommendations were fantastic! I'm very grateful for his skill and generous nature.

Working with Ross is unlike any other training experience out there. I've worked with several trainers over the years, but Ross is the only one who really takes the time to listen to exactly what's going on with my body. He's never distracted and he ALWAYS pays attention to every move I'm making, hears me when I say something doesn't feel right, and makes the adjustments necessary so that it's possible to train effectively. Ross helped me resolve long term shoulder pain, perfect my posture, and gain overall strength relatively quickly. He is the only person I trust and would choose to work with to train as I work to recover from lower back and hip pain. I HIGHLY recommend working with Ross in whatever capacity you can!!

Ross is absolutely fantastic at what he does! His work as a re-trainer is very unique and is different than any other training I had done in the past simply to get strong. Ross is extremely intelligent and creative in his approach to meeting you where you are at, and empowering you to get your body back to its optimum health. My original goal in my work with Ross was to get out of chronic back pain which was our main focus. However, after some time of working with Ross I unfortunately experienced some additional health challenges. Ross was able to empathize, adapt and recreate a plan that meet my new needs. He is truly one of a kind and has such a genuine soul. Working with Ross is fun, challenging and extremely rewarding. I can't say enough positive things about my experience. If your thinking about working with him, do this for you. It's so worth it!

What i like about Ross is that he he has become an intimate part of my knowing my body, strenghtening my body within my unique physical limitations. He is a good listener and often adapts, the many "interesting exercises," on the spot..... to what makes sense for working with tightness rigidity and pain. I feel a trust and connection in the trainings that he gives me. it is a retraining, and programming my body to move in alignment.
I have learned to listen to my body to find that edge between what works and what is tooo much.I especially like his playfulness and quirky humor.

I've worked with a few personal trainers but only 1 of them became my friend; that's Ross. And to be fair to Ross, he's not a personal trainer, he's a personal retrainer. That's the work that we do in his studio; retraining. A lifetime of intense physical work and poor exercise theory left me banged up and twisted up. Ross is untwisting me by helping me teach my body how it's supposed to fit in place and how it's supposed to move. Ross continually surprises me with his knowledge of unique exercises to retrain my body and put the pieces back together. I look forward to my sessions with him because he's fun to be around and smart. He's the best at what he does and he's just an awesome dude. Very happy to call him my personal retrainer and even happier to call him my friend. If you're twisted up and things are working like they should then go see him. He'll get you untwisted and in the process you'll acquire a new friend.

Working with Ross has been different than working with a trainer at a big box gym, in that, Ross is helping me build the foundation of a strong, connected, functional body. I've worked with a big box trainer before, and still need help getting my foundation strong. I've gained strength, agility, balance and confidence training with Ross. I ran a 10k recently after working with Ross for several weeks in which I shaved a bunch of time off my previous 10k time, all while feeling stronger and better during the race. I look forward to my training sessions because they really are pain free and more interesting than the training I've done before. I'm very pleased I made the decision to invest in myself and work with Ross.

I came to Ross after a diagnosis with bilateral hip dysplasia which meant that I should be getting a double hip replacement at 43 years of age. I was determined to do what I could to get at least a part of my life and physical functionality back, and to delay the op. What I have learned from Ross is priceless. I now fully see, feel and understand how the years of patterns of carrying my body and the wrong exercises eventually led to much damage, pain and decay. I discovered muscles I didn't know I had. In the matter of just 8 weeks (which is nothing compared to 40 years of bad habits and exercise), I have regain plenty of mobility in my lower body. It might not mean much to you if I say that I can now clip my own toe nails, wash my own feet and stand in a 2-feet stance (when I started with Ross, I could only open the legs in a 1-foot stance) - but it's life-changing to me. Every week is giving me more and more optimism that I will be able to do 6 hour hikes again and delay the operation to an unforeseeable future. Ross is a great trainer - not only very knowledgeable and funny but also deeply committed to seeing you succeed. He's constantly in touch with my physical therapist to trade notes and observations and every week I get a set of new exercises I can do on my own. I love that. I've seen many therapists before who were reluctant (and didn't have the knowledge) to give me stuff to do outside of sessions. I feel empowered to know what I'm doing is right for me and I'm not just "hoping" for the best. Standard gym exercises when you have years of injuries and bad habits just amplify these imperfections and lead to serious wear and tear - that's what happened to me too.

If you want to learn how to regain your physical health by understanding and honoring your body, this is the man for you.

There are not enough words in the english language to be able to say how great I think Ross is.
We met right after I was injured very badly in the Boulder floods.
I know for a fact that Ross has been instrumental in my physical recovery> I know that he is kind and supportive and unbelievably knowledgeable.
I have a lot of injuries: I have 2 blown knees, 7 broken vertebrae and 2 broken elbows, and Ross has been able to help be get to the point where I can function in a healthy way.
I am incredibly grateful I met him and cannot recommend him highly enough.
If you have injuries, or have not been working out for a while, and want some support and expert advice on how to get in shape, then Ross is the trainer for you. Period.

An incredible experience! Ross helped me eliminate my back & neck pain and finally feel natural in my body again. I can move more freely, I feel stronger and more confident with my movement now. And best of all, Ross REALLY knows his stuff when it comes to how the human body moves, and how to fix it. This is VERY different from working with a typical 'trainer' (which I've done and they actually made it worse).

Ross' approach centers on fixing the root of any physical pain or issue instead of just putting a band-aide on it. Definitely a world class trainer right here in Boulder.

I immediately knew that working with ross on my chronic back and neck pain was not going to be typical, i performed a battery of unique physical tests that i had never seen before. after studying the results, ross explained what was working with my body movements and what wasn't. he drew up a exercise plan and we began to tackle my weaknesses with new, specialized stretches and strengthening exercises. now, i can say that after only one month, my body is working more like in my younger years. there's more re-training ahead, but i'm confident that with ross as my coach, i will move better without pain and that's something i never got from the PT clinics.

Ross is the best! I have worked out with many personal trainers in the past and Ross is by far the most skilled, knowledgeable and attentive trainer I have ever met. His assessment protocol is world class and he is able to tease out the subtle asymmetries and imbalances in your body.
I have been a competitive swimmer for most of my life and have had chronic shoulder pain and instability. I have seen multiple physical therapists and body workers throughout the years with mixed results. Ross has been able to pinpoint the problems in my shoulders and create exercises to stabilize and strengthen them. Every exercise and drill that he throws at me builds on the previous skills that he has taught. And every exercise just feels good, like my body is innately craving the movement pattern that he is suggesting. We are also working on whole body, functional strength which I am noticing positive effects in all areas of my life. I cannot recommend Ross highly enough.

Ross helps athletes improve performance, prevent injuries and play sports longer because he uses a “healthy” approach to fitness training. This seems ironic because most people think all fitness training is healthy. But most training programs aren’t. That’s what I’ve experienced and I’ve spent more than two decades healing more injuries than I can remember.

I pretty much covered the gamut of athletic healthcare providers - orthopedists, surgeons, physical therapists, massage therapists, trainers and some really good yoga teachers. What I’ve learned from nursing all my injuries is there are generally two approaches to recovery.

In the traditional method, practitioners gave me strengthening and stretching exercises straight from healthcare textbooks. No adaptions were made for my body’s uneven movement patterns. My body’s compensations weren’t addressed. Practitioners watched me heal for several weeks. Then I was released from care and went back to my sport of choice. I got better, but not 100%. Nine times out of ten the injury returned.

The other approach focused on retraining my nervous system so it moved properly. It has healed several of my injuries 100%. The method eliminated unevenness and compensations in my body. Once my body moved properly more strengthening and flexibility modalities were added. This is how Ross designs training programs and why they are “healthy”. If you have a nagging injury that just won’t heal, talk to Ross.
